Touhou Genso Wanderer will be released this Tuesday (Friday in Europe), so I set up a thread for everyone to post any noteworthy achievements they've made there.
You may post your progress in dungeons (both story and side), show us you best equipment, and even share runs of your favorite (or least favorute) dungeons!
-
...wait, there's a specific Europe release date? So this is like, an international game and not just japan, so it's in english from the get-go? What platform(s) is it on?

...wait, there's a specific Europe release date? So this is like, an international game and not just japan, so it's in english from the get-go? What platform(s) is it on?
It's actually an official translation of Fushigi no Gensokyo: The Tower of Desire (The original version, not Reloaded) which will be released on PS4 and Vita on March 21st in America and March 24th in Europe.
-
I've got the game preordered and looking forward to it. Never actually played any of the Aquastyle Mystery Dungeons since none of them had English patches and they seemed way too complicated to play untranslated. I might like it, I might not? I am willing to take the risk nonetheless.
With early reviewers, it seems to sit a little better than Gensou Rondo and Touhou Koukishin did last time I checked (I enjoyed both no matter what anyone says :3).
-
Worth noting that, from what I've heard from a friend, this is a very paint-by-numbers Mystery Dungeon game. If you like those, you'll like this - but don't expect anything revolutionary or anything.
That being said I'm getting it day 1 on the vita. Caannn't wait~ I do hope Satori's accessed early on, gonna lug her around as my partner for as long as I can get away with it b/c im a huge dork.
-
I got a PsVita mainly for this. But now I got hooked on Disgaea 4. What a dillema :).
Released with it is Double Focus. Which seems a bit like Castlevania, except all enemies are fairies.
-
Worth keeping in mind that Double Focus is apparently only free with a physical copy of the PS4 version of Genso Wanderer. So if you get digital for PS4, or the Vita version (which is only digital), you'll have to get it separately. No cross buy either.
-
Sorry for double post but the games are up now. There are also two free themes for the PS4 (https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/themes/touhou-genso-wanderer-playstation4-theme/cid=UP1063-CUSA06521_00-ETH0000000001003) and Vita. (https://store.playstation.com/#!/en-us/games/themes/touhou-genso-wanderer-playstationvita-theme/cid=UP1063-PCSE00990_00-ETH0000000001004)
Game's 49.99 on the Vita, Double Focus is 19.99. Looks like they decided to apply the Atlus Tax =/
-
Just a friendly reminder that (at least for the PS4 version not sure on vita or not) you can download Momiji for free on the PSN store
Haven't tried her out yet but hey free stuff is cool I guess
As far as the games go i'm quite enjoying both of them, never been a fan of the Mystery Dungeon styled games but giving this one a shot I've really had fun with it, despite sucking and dying, a lot. As a Metroidvania fan I've been blazing through Double Focus as well, it's pretty fun and while it's difficult at points it's not as rage inducing as some other games in the genre can be, especially of the Touhou variety.
-
Goodness gracious, Byakuren puppets are actually evil. 100+ damage per round when you're only rocking 300ish HP that is not ok ;-;
Little bit of a tip for people struggling: Normally, you can only enhance every time you make your first pass by the Youkai Village by default. However, if you invest about 10k into Warp, you can simply warp to the Hakurei shrine, back to Youkai Village, and that will reset the enhancement allowances back to 1. Bit of a pain, but lets you get higher enhancement values earlier on.
Edit: More tips!
Danmaku is actually pretty potent. You'll mostly want to use Yin-Yang Shot and Youkai Buster, but with the power count being so high and plentiful you might as well consider them your real source of ranged attacks in this game - and mercifully, one that doesn't totally hog your inventory.
When you unlock Nito Fusion's Mix Function: Two Green Teas make a Refined Green Tea, which heals a lot of health. Don't neglect to craft!
Incompetence and Misfortune Talismans are your best friends. They're plentiful, easy to use (just push use!), and can help a lot with the more nasty foes.
You can use items directly out of Preserve Gaps, no need to pull them out (they'll even still show up in the main items menu!). Make sure to put your best food, spell cards, and talismans in Preserve gaps to protect them from traps/explosions and save inventory spaces!
If you're about to die, and are completely out of options, don't forget to use a Return-to-Hakurei spell card. Your level will still go back to 1, but that way you'll get to preserve your Money, which you can invest back in town.
-
Warping was my first priority. Having to trek through floors I have a need to full clear, just to get back was not that fun...
-
Further investment into warping beyond the threshold to unlock the warp between the village and the shrine doesn't seem to unlock the ability to start on the later depths of the first dungeon - instead, it seems to unlock bonus dungeons. The first one is the Junk Garden and hoo boy, it's a 150 floor can't bring gear monster. Maaybe go back to that one later....
-
I've mostly been using the donation shield, but now that I could get it's effect without it, I've started trying out Shiki Eiki's things. Wondering what the Judge effect will do. Also still confused on those Unzan tiles, but I'm probably overestimating what it actually does... Gonna consider going back into the dojo and doing the second training thing; maybe, maybe not.
-
I haven't heard about this game until recently... I love pokemon mystery dungeon, and then I see this... Darn! This looks wonderful! If I only had any of the consoles and the game itself :derp:
-
Unfortunately the Tutorial doesn't explain a good number of things so it's been trial and error, but I can tell you that the Unzan titles exist as a sort of wall against projectiles - they don't seem to do anything else.
No idea about the Judge effect either, but I'll know when I can find something to resonate with it.
-
Keep investing and you'll eventually unlock warps to later points in the first dungeon.
Just beat the first dungeon and I really like how the game is designed, I initially thought that get reset back to level 1 would be annoyingly tedious but the games design actually compliments that pretty well.
And don't get me started on the Byakuren-san's in the Dream Mausoleum, probably my least favorite enemy thus far.
Also question, has anyone else gotten a weapon called Exorcism Rod 99? is there a way to remove the mercy skill on it? I'm assuming you have to level it up to make it super powerful but I'd like to know before I waste any time, and I'm having fun with my Nyan-Nyan Rod as is.
-

Throw a weapon/armour at an Unzan to level it up, Ichirin hints at this if you talk to her when she shows up in the Yokai Village
-
Got my exorcism rod 99 to +5 and it's still doing that mercy damage. Probably shouldn't have, but I'll be keeping it in my inventory in case there's some enemy that needs to be whittled down. Otherwise, it's back to continue gunning for understanding that Judge effect. Might try dying with a seal to revive me and see if it does anything when I get the time to...
Also, as for ranks, I've been hoarding lots of the rank down talismans, yet never have a good opportunity to use them. Hoping I come across an opposite version.
Also-Also, spent time playing Double Focus instead today. Immediately started on hardest difficulty, because it helps me know that dodging/blocking is crucial and don't screw up. Put a portal or two in a place I shouldn't have... Hardest is also helping me somewhat learn boss patterns well. First boss and second boss were both a cakewalk of a thousand bites thanks to it.
Will probably get back to Genso Wanderer tomorrow and actually go past the village instead of staying in between it and the shrine and hoping for that random chance encounter again. Got a good amount of Preserve Gaps now.
Wonder if anyone tried to steal from dungeon shops yet with certain techniques...
-
Innates seem to only change when an item evolves, which only happens with item level. But if you want to evolve a weapon, the absolute best place for that early on is a bonus dungeon you can unlock by talking to Futo at the shrine after you take down the first dungeon. Jinryu Tenketsu, which gives Increased Character EXP, Increased Partner EXP, everything's ID'd, and you can bring items and partners so it's pretty well suited to getting things to a serviceable level before the next stage! Beware that ??? floor count...
You also cannot rechallenge Buyking by going back though Kourintower, you'll have to do that through Kasen's Dojo.
Actually it's just 10 floors, and at the end of it you get what seems to be a random prize from a certain general. It's pretty easy though, and you run into only a upper limit of -Sans, so feel free to just slap that exorcism rod 99 on your partner to level it up!.
Also it doesn't seem like the Exorcism Rod 99 has a second evolution stage, which means it's probably intended to just be a joke weapon through and through.
-
Geez, I should really catch up for these experiences. Hopefully I get to play over spring break...
I've gotten used to not stepping on trap gaps with the intention of picking up a hopefully useful gap, actually knowing when it's a trap or not. Need to encounter more (re-triggerable) burn traps for cooking benefits too. Also had the terrible experience of having an explosion drug and getting surprised by Kogasa. Stood still for a moment processing just what happened and how much health I had left.
-
So Jinryu Tenketsu gets worse and worse every time since it gets longer, later floors start throwing -sama's at you and coupled with encounters with Youmu's...... Let's just say things go south pretty quick.
What's everyone been running anyway?
On Reimu I've been using The Seiga Nyan-Nyan Rod (upgrade to the all purpose chisel) and traffic safety
-
Oh dear, it gets longer? ...Welp. Good to know.
As for me, I've been running Roukaken (upgraded to Soul Slicing Sword lv55+24 w/ Float&Puppet&ear&yokai&oni&ghost special, attack range up, chara exp fluc, release, and additional damage up.) and the eiki one (Lord Yama Danzaiger lev53+21, anti-theft, deteroation tolerance, paperweight, money offering, confused resistance, bad condition resistance, vitality up, slowed resistance). It's a pretty good setup imo, but due to how vicious certain attacks can be + how important various seals can be depending on the enemy, it might be worth it to have a more specalized loadout for later dungeons.
-
I was having a pretty good run in the main story, much further than I have before, with learning of my gear evolving, and have Eiki's hat and Rod. Got into a situation where a few Phantom Halves escaped and put me up against a fully leveled Eiki. My run stopped thanks to having been reduced to just 3 power, being stunned and slowed by an annoying off screen Tojiko or something (that
killed herself after a bit got killed by another Tojiko behind her), and two Hijiris going superhuman on me. Filled up a soul gap trying to get enough health to get back through the path and to the exit, but the gap put me to sleep forever after that. No Scapegoats were left either.
I've decided to let my partner keep the banana gear combo, since I think it'll still do the food dropping effects (fantastic when it works too). Got to get glimpses of possible evolutions for gear I had by nearly fusing them with my high level ones. Still not sure on what charm to keep though, so I'll stick with scapegoat ones, Longevity, or the Micro Hakkero.
I also got into a shop once, only to have items thrown at me and equipped or stored by Kyouko-san. Favorite part was accidentally throwing something at shopkeep (instead of setting it down) and getting killed... then reviving and trying to run, only to get killed again.
-
Sounds like you've had quite the shenanagins, Miniking. Gotta watch out for the last item you put in a soul gap - I personally prefer tea for that reason. Though, no amount of HP recovery will save you if you get killed in one shot, like I did for the second dungeon boss in what was a pretty huge cheap shot...
In case anyone wants to know what attack I'm talking about: When feathers appear in Crimson Raven's fight, get away from them. They explode with a PBAoE radius of 1, and will deal enough damage to OHKO you pretty much no matter what.
-
Yea, I realized early on that run that healing is useful for midbattle... But I ran out midbattle. I probably should've used an escape card.
I'd really like to put my partner to battle, but she either runs off right when I get into a pathway to go fight the enemy that just came in that room, gets stuck getting killed by an enemy while I can't help, or both. Follow doesn't fight enough when it's convenient...
-
I just keep some roaring revivals on hand and expect that keeping my partner on attack or explore will get her killed eventually. Easy to just revive her when that happens.
Speaking of partners, you unlock Kasen via completing her Trial dungeons. Better hop to it! So far none of the three partners seem...all that much more useful than one another thanks to the fact them using their stuff in the first place is total RNG. I'm preferring Satori right now though because her utility is at least nice to have sometimes and gotta stick with the best girl.
I went ahead and gave Momiji a try on a different note. The differences are that she has Blocking instead of the piercing needles, which lowers the damage of the next received attack by a high amount and performs an immediate counter attack (only one counter-attack per use sadly), and she has a inferior youkai buster (only hits in a V pattern, thus two hits instead of three). She seems flat out inferior to Reimu due to Blocking being somewhat underwhelming and not worth giving up both piercing needle and having a crappier youkai buster, but she still has the basic 1 cost danmaku which you'll use 60%+ of the time so she's still pretty close. Also it probably goes without saying, but the game still treats you as Reimu for the purposes of cutscenes and other dialogue. However, she and Reimu have seperate spell cards, so don't bother bringing along say a Fantasy Seal as Momiji, or a Expelee's Canteen as Reimu.
The UI also changes when she's the main character and it looks pretty sweet.
On one final note, while you unlock the Junk Garden really early on, it's not worth doing until you unlock at least some weapons and armor in the Nito Fusion. Reason being that only materials drop in there - no other items at all, which means that you'll quickly run into a wall of what you can kill with just your bare fists alone.
-
I haven't heard about this game until recently... I love pokemon mystery dungeon, and then I see this... Darn! This looks wonderful! If I only had any of the consoles and the game itself :derp:
There's a downloadable PC version (http://www.melonbooks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=IT0000189060) on Melonbooks. For me it cost just under $40, including a $1 foreign transaction fee. Unfortunately it's only in Japanese and it doesn't look like a translation patch has been made yet, but if you use Google translator on your phone to take pictures of the text you can get a pretty good idea of what things are.
As for gameplay I'm just going to say that the 30-items limit can get pretty restricting about 20 floors in unless you manage your inventory well. Especially food. Save those as you'll need them when you least expect it.
-
I just started playing this myself and honestly, it's rea;;y fun. Haven't beaten the first main dungeon yet, I'll get there in due time.
One thing I'd like to share is that investing a total of 30k yen into Warp will unlock a shortcut to the second checkpoint of the first dungeon (17F).
Also, one thing I personally found nifty is that in all the NISA published Touhou fangames (at least the PS4 versions as far as I know), setting the system language to Japanese will also change the ingame text to Japanese too. This makes them almost identical to the Japanese versions of them, with one oddity: in Double Focus the title graphic remains the same as the international version, despite the fact that every other instance of text is changed to Japanese.
-
I've got a lovely collection of 15 or so preserve gaps, I think. 2 (5) limit gaps for weapons and armor that I come across. Unfortunately, still got those crappy (3) limit gaps. I think I'll leave any (3) limit gaps as extra while placing the good items in newer ones above that. Sorta wish it was pseudo-multiplayer so someone can play your partner, but there would still be a bunch of things you could abuse if it was like that...
On a quick note for Double Focus, I really hope it's possible to get pictures of people you missed... Then again, maybe the one I tried against doesn't have an entry in there.
Still no luck on finding out anything more about the Judge seal. The Unzans have been useful, but I really gotta start stacking up ways to get my power back or keep it from dropping.
Thoughts about the Hakurei Rod: Something at lv 99/100? Something from fusing it with a special recipe? Useful for certain enemies? Just a simple lowest possible damage weapon that I'm overthinking?
Update: I found an interesting charm in the normal difficulty Sage's Trials, and I quickly realized that this just made my gameplay into Birth by Sleep gameplay now.
-
Can someone please explain to me how you are suppose to do
mystery house 1 at moon rabbit theme park because i don't understand how you are suppose to do the puzzle.
-
Still trying to get to the end of Jinryu Tenketsu, I got to about floor 42 and the Tenshi's just wouldn't stop spamming. I'm assuming the third run is the last time right? They're not gonna make me climb down there AGAIN..... I really hope they don't........
I kinda wish you could sell stuff at the in dungeon shops, would be pretty helpful but I guess that's all part of the challenge too
-
Are the dungeon shops in there special? They won't let you sell?
-
It might be a glitch or something but when I drop an item on the ground nothing happens like it does in other dungeons.
-
I don't have the game to confirm but from watching from livestream, you are supposed to talk to Mamizou once you place items on the floor to sell them.
-
From what he's said about it working in other dungeons, I think he already knows how to sell them.
If you can't sell them, just throw them in their faces. But that's terrible idea...
Finished the main dungeon. Maybe my gear was too strong or I was over leveled, but it wasn't that difficult. Just a bit tedious. Futo wasn't doing much for nearly the whole match. Was doing great damage and almost finished the boss off, but then Futo decided it was her time to shine, and stole my kill with her spell card that did embarrassingly low damage comparatively... Still behind compared to you guys, though fun moments/times are still had.
I poked in on Double Focus after that, and got things finished there tonight as well. Found out good strats against the final boss and the other bosses after going to their battles again to no-hit/perfect them. Still a lot of things to do aside from map and items, but dang, I'm really not gonna wanna do time attack...
-
That's only the first main dungeon anyway. You got a waaayyys to go!~
-
So I FINALLY beat Jinryu Tenketsu after dying on the last floor and just save scumming, but uh, not sure what I'm supposed to do now....... I'm assuming I've got to do something with the items I got from Nazrin but I'm honestly at a loss (please don't tell me I have to go all the way BACK down there)
I kinda wish the other dungeons had the same aesthetic variety that the buyking dungeon had, kept things a little more interesting.
EDIT: the shops are letting me sell stuff now, I think the time I tried to in Jinryu the shopkeeps were freaking out because Tenshi was hitting everyone with her quake attack
Also Nitori can steal the floor exit with he extending arm, causes the game to crash but I still find it humorous.
-
Man... picking up an item just so shopkeeps can keep you safe in the room is great. Can just pick them off with danmaku from the corners too.
I'll try to get back to the game when I've got DF's snap archive done or nearly done... Some of the silhouettes look pretty annoying to find... Nevermind.
-
Wow, I'm honestly shocked they implimented a combo I just found that utterly trivilazed Crimson Raven for me and probably utterly destroys just about any boss. Put into spoilers because, uh. It's kind of absolutely nuts.
Equip any comb of items which allow you to ignore Sake's Accuracy Down (such as Unicon Horn + Oni Cup). Drink Sake. Proceed to do somewhere in the range of 4x+ damage (for reference, i was hitting for somewhere along 120-190 per hit without it, and 750+ with it.). Throw in a swift drug, and you have basically an 8x damage multiplier. On top of that, the combo has Range 3, which means you get two extra turns worth of swing (even if you don't need it, since I finished the raven off in something like four turns)
As for the solution to Mystery House 1: Here's a hint first. Remember, the shopkeepers are after a thief, so having anything on your person that might paint you as such might not be the best idea... Solution: In short, you have two objectives here. First of all, you need to kill the shadowy figures (Kappa, Cirno, Marisa) on floors 2, 3, and 4 to obtain the Witch Broom (Kappa), Marisa Hat (Cirno), Golden Orb (Marisa), and Note (Marisa) (I'm not sure if it's a requirement to not have them equipped at the end, but I de-equipped the weapon and shield to be safe). However, your second objective is to pick up absolutely nothing else. This includes money - which you can't put back down after picking up! So to circumvent this, you'll have to hold down the O button before stepping on a money title to keep from picking it up.
Yeah I think Bunnyland is probably my least favorite part of the game so far. I love the idea behind gimmick dungeons and individually they range from meh to funny, but it's so annoying that you not only have to go through all of them, but clear them before you get to move on. Such a pia :(
-
Ah... I think I might've found out what Judge's effect does... Happened when I attempted to get a few trophies just now...
Shiki Eiki is absolutely brutal and unforgiving. I'm sorry for stealing ;_; *Fainted from Judge's effect*

also another thing about mystery house 1: if you picked up some money by accident you can always let Marisa steal your money or if you have way to much, you can gamble with whatever the gambling spellcard is called and lose a lot of money that way too

If anyone wants to unlock Okuu - you have to go down to the Kouindou branch at the Old Capital at some point in chapter 3 (I'm not sure if you have to finish the inital bunnyland attractions first or if you dont have to) to trigger Okuu's quest, which is a pretty simple affair of 16 floors, no boss, can bring items. However keep in mind that the enemies start out at the -sama level, so you'll want to go into it through the Awaritium branch into the Old Capital to get to a level where you'll be able to handle the enemies.
Okay technically there's a boss but it's pretty underwhelming and easy to beat.
-
I've found out how to enter Lunar war III and I'm just gonna stay away from that until I'm ready to go through down to the old capital path...
Currently just popping in and out of Jinryu Tenketsu without going to floor 10. Still just wanting to get gear I haven't before.

DLC's up.
14.99 for Futo's 7 trials, and 6.99 for bullet reporter.
...14.99????????????????????? What on earth is wrong with NISA????
On a less...confused about bad pricing note, Rei'sen seems to be head and shoulders away the best partner. The issue with partners is that, inherently, due to the RNG and short lived nature of their effects you get little lasting or consistent value out of them - and then Rei'sen shows up with her Summon Moon Rabbit skill, which completely negates this issue. They're bulky, do good damage, she summons multiple of them per floor (I've gotten up to 9), and best of all in spite of it not showing up in the combat log anything they kill gives you (full?) EXP. They're meat shields, they tend to scatter due to AI which allows you to get EXP from halfway across the map - it just blows everything else out of the water. She does have a downside that's basically all she brings to the table, and that her "bomb" is the worse kind (frontal laser that requires a few turns to charge, unlike Futo or Satori who just nuke the whole room), but Summon Moon Rabbit alone makes her by far the best partner so that's okay.
-
...14.99????????????????????? What on earth is wrong with NISA????
Yes, I agree with this 100%. WTF!?
Before the DLCs came up, I initially thought the prices would be reasonable like $1.99 - $2.99 for Bullet Reporter or $4.99 for Futo's trial but no, they had to do with altogether for $22, which could have been the price of Reloaded version by itself!
The future of this game's review is getting darker and darker...and I do not appreciate that fact at all, considering the game has got relatively good feedback during its first release.
P.S. Ah, I wonder how much Momiji will cost once it is no longer free. Oh, and Reloaded too once it is localised.
-
I decided to take the bullet and, while I think 10 would've been the better price point, 15 makes sense and honestly isn't egregious. Futo's DLC is actually more like a expansion pack/mini sequel. It has a #(7, I think) of dungeons which share Jinryu Tenketsu's mechanic of getting harder each time you do them, with better rewards each time. Also it has its own little area, which is pretty cute. Bullet Reporter on the other hand is only
one twp (albiet pretty and with fantastic music) dungeons that gives you the Aya PC, Aya Partner, and Momiji Partner. It's not terribly overpriced, but it's definitely higher than I'd put it.
As for how the playable characters rank in:
Reimu is probably the best over-all option, and is the yard-stick the others are measured to.
Momiji replaces her 5-cost with Blocking, which severely reduces all damage taken for 1 turn and responds to the first attack taken with a counter. Her 3-cost is also a V shape instead of 3 attacks. She's honestly the worst of the lot, but still has the 1 and 10 costs so not bad. Her 5-cost is also probably the best answer to Big multi-hitters in the game for melee range, so it gives you a safety net if you run into one in a corridor.
Aya's 3-cost is a auto-target that does a considerably high amount of single target damage. Her 10 cost is basically Reimu's but with the added effect of knockback. The defensive option, pretty solid.
Futo's 5-cost works as a chain reaction that splashes onto all touching foes. Her 10-cost is a hail mary to RNG that auto-targets everything in sight and does a varying amount of damage that can range from "whatever" to "holy shit." The best single target damage.
Over-all it doesn't make too much of a difference and you're fine taking anyone. As a fair warning, they all have their own version of Fantasy Seal and All Sides Lethal Dragon so you're gonna have to do some inventory management if you want to do Bring Items dungeons - but at the same time their effects are completely identical to Fantasy Seal / All Sides, so there's no pros or cons there.
Edit: bullet reporter actually has a second dungeon, and it's brutal as heck.
-
This is Fushigi no gensokyou right (sure looks like it but maybe it's 2 or something and it uses the same assets? I dunno)? I've been waiting for it for freakin' ever. I didn't get it though because it's 60 bucks! I mean 60 bucks is not high for a ps4 game but but.. ffs it's over 5 years old and it was like 12 bucks new imported from overseas.. paying 60 for something 5 years later just doesn't seem right to me.
I asked this on gamefaqs and was told that it includes 4 expansions. Now I remember when fushigi was new, the first expansion Ir ecall was a Cirno one (or was it a sanae one?), then it was the other of those 2.. then I think it was a momiji one? But I thought the expansions from the doujin game were stand-alone that included the original game as well.
Sorry for the complicated question but can someone please explain to me what exactly this game includes, in terms of what you'd have to purchase doujin-wise 5 years ago?
I normally support doujin localization but this year and last year is freakin amazing for games, and I still need civ 6, dark souls 3, Nioh, etrian odyssey untold 2, xanadu next, etc, etc.. I can't take it anymore I have to be even cheaper than usual!
-
Have a sake seal and a crit/satisfying seal to my Yamaxanadu set and it's definitely satisfying for either situation to happen. Yama set now has, through many seals, extra damage to pretty much every type, food and money drops, range +1, and the effect of giving you a heart attack whenever you're in a shop with a high level Kyouko enemy.
Speaking of enemies, I'm still unsure on my favorites and least favorite ones. Yuugi's pretty ridiculous for the expressions and just doing whatever she wants. I've gotten to finally see the grand magician, but ran away out of fear of it's attack. Didn't get to see it again yet.
Not sure on if partner's shooting attacks count as danmaku that could be boosted with equipment or not. I hope it does.
At Bunnyland now and geez I'm so tired of that Talisman thing. I'm gonna try and see if I can use Momiji for it later and hope her danmaku moves are enough carry...
Despite destroying my donation box earlier, I'm still fine with how things are money-wise. It didn't take too long to gather and spend what I did though, and it was worth it.

Grand Magician takes awhile to do its attack and generally you can kill it if you are close enough to begin with otherwise you should definitely just run away from it from fear of getting nuked. Well assuming you have a weapon... I don't know if you saw it in the talisman dungeon.

It was a different one, but I still had weapons too weak, and after a couple of hits, just backed off into the nearest hallway instead.

You get the Rinnsouke dungen, the Satori dungeon, the Utsuho dungeon, Kasen's trials, Bunnyland, Mysterious Dimension, Old Well, Junk Garden (in other words, the base game and the plus disc content). Futo's expansion is 7(?) dungeons and is a separate 14.99 purchase, and they haven't announced plans to localize the Sanae(Miracle Party) expansion. There's no Cirno xpac afaik.
The 50$ price point is definitely not ideal, but presumably this was the only way they could break even. It sucks, but I doubt their sales forecast for the title even hit a 5 digit number. Here's hoping it sold better than expected and they feel more comfortable bringing over future titles at a lower price point.

Beat it after almost losing so closely to a spellcard-agro'd pair of Yuuka's. Thanks teammate. Though to be fair, teammate's antics elsewhere make it worth having them around...
I hope I never have to revisit that mission ever again. Drinks would've even been more fun than Talismans at least...

All right, thanks... I think I'll snag it on the first sale at 25% or higher.

At the third boss and unfortunately, had to return because my items were gone. Freaking Big Yukari gapped away an important preserver, right before I fell into a subspace gap. I didn't even have my sake or ways to make it in time...
I am livid. Going back in there stacked and bringing the typical "Too good to ever use" stuff.
The worst thing about this is that I picked up and started upgrading Miko's sword, and Kokoro had it last mission, so I can't get it back until I destroy her.
-
There are a lot of things that I like about this game. But after getting 1-shotted by the first boss after a 2.5 hour run I need some time away from it.
-
Going to eventually try and get more talk scenes, then try a bunch of stuff in Nito-Fusion.
Actually, considering I just finished one of those trials and didn't realize that wasn't the last one, I think I'll hold off on it until that's done. Might also need to sell a lot of items I already have one of for more money...
Reincarnation is gonna be a grind... Already wasted a Hieda Scroll on Wafer Blade, not knowing the process well... Really wanting to reincarnate the Seven Star Sword with something that has good green/combination abilities. Not sure what would be good to use though, and it's not max yet, so I have time. Might travel to the moon again for more items
before trying the Nito-Fusion things, despite how tempting it is to go for completing that.

I finished the Buyking arc today and I think I actually have an opinion of the game now. I like it! It's almost a little too exciting at times :D. Your equipment being at risk all time can be nervewrecking. I was timid to challenge the boss again after fleeing just in time on my first attempt. Really happy to have at least made it to this early milestone, but I wonder how long it would take me to touch the game again would I lose my stuff at some point.

It's a good thing I read your post before and had the instinct that Battle Mode Buyking is probably someone you don't want to face in melee (it was him, right?)
Can I also say that I love the cutscenes, both the animated and vn-style ones? Curee's art always looks so sleek and shiny...only thing I don't get is their obsession with oversized ribbons :3.

I thought you lose only all money if you get defeated in a dungeon.
Speaking of which, why can't all review sites get the above info correctly is beyond me. The fact that they (might) deduct point for their own mistake for thinking that this is another "lose everything" roguelike is why I think game reviews are dumb.
-

That might be the case? The only time I died so far was in the 20 floor intermediate Kasen dungeon (where you can't jump back to the shrine) and I don't think it deposited anything I had on me?
When something happens to me out of the blue and I check if my only level 40 +30 pieces are still around, that's when I'll know for sure. :D
-
I think everything still in your inventory on defeat (aside from unpaid items and cash itself) stays with you.
With the details of certain things, I'm pretty sure losing things is still a terrifying and real possibility, sometimes out of your control. Losing money isn't that bad from dungeon defeat, but I've been terrified of accidentally throwing my main equipment at someone as a weapon and losing it that way, or god forbid an enemy making me lose valuables. Accidentally selling items and not being rich enough to buy back... Dropping your items (or having them be dropped) only for one to break on the ground unceremoniously, or sink into a swamp... Having one of your items on the ground destroyed by a landmine trap or other aoe.
I hopethere's just going to be an equipment that's Reimu's ribbon, but it's just thrice as large as your character...
I like to think that I'm pretty far in the game, but from the trophies, it looks like someone already got a platinum finish on the game...
-
Ah, I know! You will lose all items if you die in "Cannot bring item" dungeon, which first appears in Kasen's trial. Dunno if that also applies to using Return to Hakurei Jump.
-
I've been loving the game up until the Seventh trial for Futo's little expansion, and I have to say that after a certain point it just makes me want to break my vita in furstation for one simple reason:
Big Suikas and Tenshis do not require Line of Sight for their ranged attacks and will pelt you from several rooms away.
This makes it entirely possible to outright lose a room because you get held up, can't reach or find the Suika or Tenshi in time, and just get pelted to death. Now imagine this happening several floors in a row, causing you to completely run out of healing items, and then die with no chance.
Very frustrating. This is on top of the nonsense everyone else is capable of, but at least you can pelt them from afar or spend consumables on them. Since the Suika and Tenshi are in another room entirely, there's nothing you can do but try to rush to them and hope you reach them in time.
-
Big Suikas I hate much less because they don't spam as much and still seem to go after me, I believe. But Big Tenshis are a terrible monstrosity that makes me want to stock up on soaring drugs and even waste them on my partner, since they almost always die on a Big Tenshi floor...
Loving the Yuugis being capable of throwing each other at you, then throwing you after landing. Just inconvenient depending on where/what you land at.
Maybe range attack avoidance/deflection might do something, but I'm not even sure Tenshi's quake counts as ranged or not...

Gotten to the cute, cuddly and adorable Bunnyland as well now. I do like the idea of several mini-dungeons so far, but from what I've read here, I'm bracing myself to some of them getting annoying.
I've got a question about Alchemy: Some of the ingredients in the list are weapons/armors with an exclamation mark in a red square in front of them. I have items of the same name, but these marked ones seem to count as completely different items. I wonder if I'm missing something. How do I get one of them?
-
I'm seriously considering just using Momiji from now on since I like her abilities MUCH more than Reimu's...
Not sure what's meant off the top of my head since I've been away from it for a few days, but some items could evolve/rank up after being leveled high enough. Trying to create it and selecting it should bring up an extra text box saying what rank or level it has to be if it needs one. Ex: Many of the weapon recipes require a few basic lv 1 items and a single lv 10 one with an exclamation mark.

Ah, I get it now and also found where to check for those conditions. Thanks!
Good thing there are partners to level up these crummy items with. Would be annoying if I had to put them on Reimu.
