Title: UFO PATCH OH MAN
Post by: Hawk on August 27, 2009, 05:03:43 AM

YESYESYESYESYESYES

Edit: Now that I've calmed down, I believe this may not be in the right forum.

Anyway.  I can confirm the score crash bug was fixed.  1.00a replays are NOT invalidated.  The other change listed has something to do with red UFOs, but I think it's a display-only thing, otherwise the replays wouldn't work.

Vsync already covers that.

Yay, I can finally do scoring~

And yeah, probably the wrong forum section  :V

I might be wrong, but I think this is the first time ZUN has made a patch since Imperishable Night.

PoFV had a netplay patch and StB had a patch that included a second Extra section in the scene menu that ZUN never got around to filling in. I don't remember if these patches also contained bug and error fixes. If links to them weren't provided on the wiki, you wouldn't be able to find them without digging through his blog; Hell, StB still doesn't even have its own page.

It was bound to happen.
Crashing the game after the score surpasses 1 billion? That's simply unacceptable.

But all the same, yeah it's pretty surprising. Downloading right now~

heh, can't wait to hear if the Stage 4 theme has been fixed or not

It fixed the billion glitch and deepened the red UFO's color for the colorblind/annoyed people.

It fixed that rather annoying problem where the game would freeze randomly after exiting a scene or replay. So basically ZUN only patches his games if the bug crashes the game and is a serious problem (meaning no SA stage 4 replays 4 u. D:).

Every time I see that empty second set of Extras in StB I just kinda =[ a little.

oh wow. ZUN actually released a patch. nothing new that really affects me though.

Yeah, this isn't WOW, where patches mean complete overhaul of game mechanics and character balance. Though I was kinda hoping the patch would make MarisaB less useless and replace Shou with Shinki.

MarisaB is far from useless.

Well, it wasn't big enough to contain an entire replacement WAV file in the music.

I certain there are plenty of people who are not ZUN working on that.

I like the new red UFOs. And I'm so happy ZUN left in the "New Java updates have been found" pop-up balloon sound in the Stage 4 theme.

It's more "new anything updates have been found," but yeah.

For me it's the "Virtual Memory Minimum Too Low" sound, which pisses me off.

So he records music from his synthesizer or whatever? I'd think he actually saves them as .wav files.

Well, yes, but apparently his synthesizer doesn't have a "convert directly to WAV" option.

What an unexpected turn of events. Its not much for those who don't care too much about score and as expected Hard and Lunatic is still as un-fun as ever. Still, ZUN releasing a patch. That's news.
