FFGM is the first of 2 spinoffs of Final Fantasy XI which is for Android and iOS devices. It takes place in the same world as Vana'diel so those of you who played FFXI should already be very familiar with the world setting of this game. You take the role of the Adventurer who begins the game by assisting San D'Oria soldiers being somehow rekt by monsters. Working under the employ of San D'Oria the adventurer eventually discovers there is a plot of some sort related to the Shadow Lord, suggesting that this game is most likely separate from the events that took place in Rise of the Zilart, but definitely took place many years after the Crystal War. I personally have not found any evidence linking this game to RotZ, but I didn't play the original FFXI game too much. The story on the website briefly describes that the Crystal War did actually take place, and over time there was an "Age of Adventurers" where the strongest ones were called Grandmasters - possibly alluding to the fact it's pretty trivial with enough time and effort to master every Job in the game right now.
The main/support class system is mostly in-tact, but weapon skills and job traits have been adjusted accordingly to fit the mobage archetype. Skills can be improved by fusing other gear to it which possess the exact same skill or passive trait name. NMs of course make a return, and no experience is complete with people spamming NMs for drops. Speaking of that, the battle system is pretty much ATB-based, with players getting into battle by touching monster icons on the map. Other players up to a maximum of 4 can fight a single instance of a mob at once. Cooperating with other players is essential, as right now only the strongest of players are capable of soloing even mid-game content.
The game's service began about 2 and a half weeks ago, on October 2. The game has had multiple BCNM-style quests allowing players to defeat a super strong monster for the chance to obtain rare equipment, classified in letter-grades: C, B, A and the best one which is S. Alternatively you can spend gems (they look like blue crystals) to roll Gacha to gain other equipment as well. Much like Shironeko Project, FFGM has no stamina system, allowing players to play as much and as long as they would like. This is pivotal for farming.
The English-speaking community for this game is still very small so I hope to look for more people interested in this game as it grows!
Currently only 6 classes are available: WAR, BLM, WHM, MNK, THF and PLD. Speculation suggests the next 2 classes to be released are RDM and DRK.
You can grab this app on QooApp if you run Android.
