Super Mario Maker is a game for the Wii U that let's you create and play fanmade Mario levels. It was released  in 9/11/15. Also known as today.

This is the only game so far that has made me genuinely want a Wii U. Sadly not enough to drive me to go out and buy one, though.

(Learning how to do romhacks is free, I guess?)

Most using not SMBX with Lua-Mod. But u need pretty much good Programm Techniques.
SMM ist actually good for people who have no clue about programming.

The tool kit doesn't allow you to make immense levels and definitely nothing near a "shmup"


Anyways: I made some Levels this Weekend but they're only recommended for Experds (and who has the Duration)
If people 'follow' you in the game, they can view all your courses :V saves the trouble of putting in the code. (Unless of course someone isn't a friend/follower)

If only we could adjust the duration of Lakitu clouds... it seems like Clown Ships are even more slippery.

I made a few things. Not terribly difficult in platforming but silly in nature, like a horror stage with a chase part.

It's fun. There are lots of dumb stages out so far, but I shouldn't be so reserved with the - button in that case.

Mario Maker is lacking some fun content to make a little bit more interesting levels. Few to note:
- Fluids (so you can place lava/mud/water somewhere else instead of fixed places.
- Vertical levels or greater height (right now you got fixed height and variable length)
- Yellow / Blue shells
- Scalable Boo Buddies (right now the circle is fixed which is dumb.
- Angler / Fisher or w/e the name is
- Moving platforms/world parts like those in Super Mario World mud-like levels
- Sawblade machines (not the grinder)
- Ropes on moving machines
- Parachute / Bubble
- Secret doors appearing when using P. (mechanic would be to pick a door and slide the P over it (or the P over the door) so it gets marked as "hidden door")

Also not being able to toss shells and such vertically up is a huge limiter. No idea why they even did that. I guess due to the various Mario-styles ?

I'm on board with this; will start going through courses currently listed here to help test my skills, and also give you all some love. Got two courses up at the moment...

1st one : 4EDD-0000-0031-F326. It's what I made with just the basics given on day 1; not much of a challenge, but it'll serve as a warm up as such...

2nd one I've just put up now : 054D-0000-0036-12FD. Another level simple in design... but a bit harder than the first one. Title says it all~ ;)

Btw is there a method to disable the frikken comments in the levels? I can only toggle between Regional and World and I want them ALL disabled. It makes it impossible to focus for me.

Most of these is apparently because otherwise they wouldn't translate easily to the other themes.

EDIT: For example, the Charging Chuck (the American football guys in World) only ever appeared in World, so it was left out.

Ropes didn't appear before New Mario Bros.

The increased height would make the levels too big to navigate through, even with 500 seconds. There are no time items, since they only appear after 3D Land and World. We're only talking about the 2D platformers here.

Grinders and platforms moving along ropes/tracks didn't appear earlier either, but they are cross functional because they are programmed so. Same goes for the falling face-stones in the castles. Pretty sure they can program in the things they want.

You have to beat your own level to be able to release it online.

I followed Kanjou and Picochilla by adding 1 level code (then pressing the follow (heart) button). Now I can see all your coarses.

I have my own as well: 53FB-0000-0039-2AB2  Super Mario World - Ghost House theme. (Nothing difficult or extreme trick jumps / moves. Once you know what to do it is matter of practise)

I've made a few stages myself. Most of them have a super-low completion rate, so I'm not sure if they're difficult, or if people skip the levels at the first sign of resistance while playing the 100 Mario challenge.

Anyways, the stages are (arbitrarily ordered by my preference):

Under and Over V2.0 - FF47-0000-0044-7630
One of my better levels, I'd think. Actually had a couple streamers play the original version, and I tweaked the map based on what I saw. If you're curious, I still have the original version up. It's [72FB-0000-0034-FF19]... but I would recommend playing the newer version first.

Terrifying Hyper-Thwomp Bridge! - A39C-0000-0045-3555
Giant Winged Lakitu-Cloud Thwomps are terrifying.

Precarious Gigantism - A332-0000-0034-259D
Clash of Titans - 172E-0000-0034-1720
A couple of levels focusing on the Big Mushroom powerup.

Airships or Something - C1F8-0000-0039-B15A
I didn't know what to call this one. May involve airships.

Flipped Perception - 5DC7-0000-0040-5842
I wanted to mess around with the concept of a stage "changing" when you went in a pipe. Probably could be done better, though. Oh, also it's quite a bit easier than the others, as I wanted to try making something more accessible.

Magikoopa Hell - F157-0000-0034-015F
Magikoopa stacks are terrifying. This is probably the hardest stage I've made to date, mainly due to it being bullet hell survival. I don't expect it to go above 0% clear rate any time soon. ^^;

Just bumping this back up with a little 'treat' for you all...

Lately, my 101 Shorts have been getting more attempts made at them; bit by bit. They are basically short courses with a set theme to them; to help new players learn, and to give a warm-up to experienced players. I've just made a brand new one, called 101 Shorts: Think Fast. Each time I name the 101 courses, I make sure to give a clue as to the theme. This one? You have a 50 second time limit. That's all I'll say~

Well, since I was low on slots, I went and deleted some of my older stages. That said, I have made a few new stages to fill the void:

Putting Differences Aside V2.0 - 5057-0000-0067-E971
I finally made a level that isn't in the SMB style. This level focuses on cooperating with Bowser to get to the end. The original version was much longer, and expected you to know a lot more about how Bowser's AI works... Also, there wasn't a reset door for that one section.

Shoes & Saws - E214-0000-0079-D782
I wanted to do something with the winged boot, so I did something with the winged boot. Saws may be involved.

Light-Footed Gigantism - 77D8-0000-007B-9D37
A much more improved take on my previous "Precarious Gigantism".

P-Switch Doormats - 7C5E-0000-007B-A2C0
This level effectively teaches you about a quirk in the game, and expects you to use that knowledge to solve a few minor puzzles.

The Mushroom Variety Power Hour - DC0C-0000-008A-45E5
Has you use every type of Mushroom availible to the SMB style.

Finally got enough stars to unlock an extra 10 slots, so hurray. Also, made some more levels that exist:

Lights Out - 6E5B-0000-0097-6A09
I would never betray you - 70FA-0000-00A2-C5E1
A couple of levels that make use the "block-stacking glitch" (most infamously used for making invisible blocks).

Chomp Cooperation - 576E-0000-00A5-8CE0
Sort of a puzzle-like level that involves Chain Chomps. At this point, nobody's cleared it, so I'm not sure if it's too hard, or if the solutions are too obscure.

Catch That Magikoopa! - 3090-0000-00BA-70F3
A stage similar in concept and difficulty to the wandering Hammer Bro stages from SMB3, except with a Magikoopa.

Completely RNG - B4E3-0000-00BA-77FB
Magikoopas have a 1-in-5 chance of turning a block into a mushroom. That's the entirety of the level. I actually uploaded this stage some time back, but I felt bad about it and took it down. This version is slightly modified from the original... but it's not all that much better.
