I notice there's no Ultra patch for LoLK yet, so I'm putting this thread up here to talk about it.
Since LoLK's resource system is based on getting ridiculous amounts of graze in sections of stages, and that the Ultra patch increases the bullet count, I think that the system will get really broken, but not as broken as DDC MarisaB Ultra Extra (lol farming)

I'd love to see an ultra of this game, even though I'd probably never be able to beat it. It's already hard as it is :derp:
As for resources, they could make it so you'd need more life pieces for a full life; maybe 5(+) instead of 3 (like in the extra stage) would already make quite a difference, and while there still would be more resources than normal, it'd make the problem at least less.

I mean, I'd assume that Ultra wouldn't be too interesting for LoLK. There will either be so many bullets that it's guaranteed to get a life piece on every section, which means you can literally bomb every single section and never run out of resources, or you'll just have wallmanku (*cough*Junko*cough*) and stuff that's literally impossible to dodge.

Seeing how the previous games had been Ultra-patched within a few weeks or so, it's still being worked on atm.
The free resources would easily see one to stage 5/6 in the first place. If it's still the case in Ultra, then a few other changes may be needed. Can only know for sure when it's released.

I'm still hoping for an ISC Ultra Patch since most of that games spellcards weren't nearly as impossible as advertised.

Considering that DDC Ultra still has 3 peices = 1 life, I don't think the patch maker changes anything except for the difficulty "level".

I actually don't think an Ultra patch will make much of a difference resource-wise. Most of the chapters where it's difficult to get a life piece without bombing are as such for reasons other than the bullet counts, such as being unable to kill enough enemies for the bonus or the bullets being "roughly" aimed at you (makes getting large amounts of graze while streaming very impractical). The patch maker would have to switch a whole bunch of other things in the game around to fix that.

Technically nothing in ISC is as impossible as advertised, but that doesn't mean some attacks aren't still really, really hard. I'd argue that the game as a whole could be considered an "Ultra" version of regular Touhou games regardless. Personally, I would be hesitant to make attacks like 10-4 and 10-7 any harder than they already are. >.<

There exist cheat codes that enable Ultra-like gameplay for ISC here (http://cheater.seesaa.net/category/9478192-1.html). You'll need to obtain SpoilerAL from somewhere and the thssg.zip file the author includes.
And on the topic of resource issues, I had previously made a patch over vanilla which made the graze requirement more evil, but increased scoring opportunities in some ways. Maybe I could apply that to Ultra when it's ready.

You know a good two thirds of the spellcards where around StB/DS difficulty without using items. There are a couple really hard ones, but even these become rather easy with item usage. The whole game could be broken way too easily by its own gimmick. I was hoping an Ultra Patch would make the spellcards challenging even with the cheat items, but considering how 90% of the spells can be cheesed with the jizou and doll combo that might never happen.

If google translate can be trusted than the most interesting thing these codes can do is simply double the number of bullets ?which is not very interesting at all. But I guess that is to be expected. Thanks for telling me though.

Doubling bullet count and/or speed (with no regard to whether the result is possible) is all the existing ultra patches do already, though...?
(Well, some of them add auto-bombing too, but ISC doesn't have the bomb system anyway.)

Oh, what's that patch?
I have not posted it yet, but it adds the following so far:
- Star items from grazing increase point value directly
- Initial point value increased to 20,000
- Spell card bonus becomes based on Stage*PointValue*100. Difficulty no longer factored in
- Clear bonus for lives/bombs increased to 20,000,000/6,000,000 respectively
- Chapter bonus requirement for fragments increased to 3,000,000
I'm open to suggestions, though I don't think I can add anything too complicated.
The inflated Spell bonus makes things a bit crazy, though I was curious about it.

I just played this. The increased shot power is really throwing me off, it's not letting me farm graze like normal.
And I tried this in Extra, and Doremy's first two spells were more or less messed up. The butterfly card has another set of butterflies going sideways, and Dream Express had really messed up bullet rings (so absurdly fast that it isn't even a circle).

I'd rather have a 'HARDLLK' patch made rather then ultra, personally ::)
Chirpy puts a lot more effort into those then the ultra patches.
