I'm surprised no one made a thread for this yet.
Anyways, it's that time of year again for some good ol' video game speedruns!

It'll be on in the background at my house all week.
I wanted to donate during the Touhou game but it's first thing in the morning for me and my chances of being awake are slim.
-
>started right now
YOU'VE ALMOST FAILED ME MOTK
-
Didn't even know this was on. Gonna be watching/listening when I'm at home.
List of stuff I particularly want to watch:
Sonic Section tonight - Gonna be able to watch
Digimon World - Tuesday 11:40 - At work; gotta catch this one later
Sonic Section - Wednesday - Can catch
Touhou Block - Thursday - Can catch
Binding of Issac Rebirth - Can catch
Obviously everything is awesome; these are just my top priorities.
-
Dang, the Touhou block is at 4AM for me. I'm gonna have to catch up on that one later. At least the Crash, Castlevania, and Metroid Prime games should be on while I'm awake.
-
Lots of games I wanna watch are during my work hours, and Twitch is blocked there.
...Gotta VPN it.
-
TETRIS THE GRAND MASTER BLOCK INCOMING
-
oh god KAN
e: OH GOD KAN
-
So I'm guessing Tetris block was great. I hope I can catch up with it later today.
-
Sadly the majority of the games they are playing are imo hardly to be considered "Quick". Maybe efficient but they are really not in the league of exploiting / perfect control to skip / overcome the game faster. Which is a bit disappointing.
Scanning the list for more interesting ones.

Startropics run hype. I'm a big fan of this game, and I've been watching Raocow play through it recently, so it's nice watching a practiced playthrough.

Oh sweet Jesus was this game huge with my brother and I when we were kids. We never managed to get as far as Raocow has as of his most recent posting. Watching a speedrun of it will kill a part of my childhood but then again a lot of the GDQ series has been about that.
-
This Prince of Persia run is arguably more fun than a WR run. Though a lot of that is the great attitude of the runner.
-
Touhou block (all two games) just started!
-
Only managed to catch the Youmu hack n slash that was pretty fun to watch :V
-
glad to see a trap tower run, working on that translation was nostalgic
-
That Trap Tower run was completely nuts. For those that haven't experienced the game for themselves, it is a LOT harder than the run made it out to be.
-
"STOP CLAPPING AND GO TO SLEEP!"
And those were the last words of SGDQ2015.
Now to catch up on all the runs I missed.
-
WONDERSHOOOOOOOOOOOOOT
-
So this week was a total washout on catching pretty much anything for various reasons but I'll have plenty of time to pop up the VODs as I do job hunt stuff forever. Recommendations?

TAS block was pretty solid if you're into that sort of thing, ditto tetris block. I Wanna Be The Boshy run is always great, but watch the Dustforce and Wings of Vi runs while you're at it (and really, everything else from the PC block). After that it's really up to which games you like.
-
TETRIS
Roundabout was pretty good too, although if you find yourself really liking the game around 5 minutes in, you should stop watching and play for yourself.
And Mario Kart 64 was crazy as usual.
-
Super Metroid race is worth watching just for Zoast wrecking faces left right and center.
EDIT: Also, shameless plug for the Trap Tower run. Worth watching for anyone that's ever played the game for longer than 30 seconds.
-
Trap Tower run is a lot more entertaining if you've invested a fair amount of time in it, because the game can be cripplingly difficult at times and they made it look really easy :V
-
My personal favorite moments were some of the races. My 2 favorite ones were Megaman 4 and Super Mario 64 0/1-star. Also Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Worlds and Super Mario 64 120-star were entertaining as well because of the commentary.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot as I watched a lot of runs, but those are off the top of my head.

Oh boy, starting from the top:
-Yoshi's Island is always a treat and if you haven't seen a full run of YI before do yourself a favour
-Maldita Castle has some fantastic banter between the racers and is a super hard game they just breeze through
-Gauntlet (PC) was a lot of "oh dear what's going on"
-Octodad: Dadliest Catch is... well it's octodad lol
-Tetris: The Grand Master. Just... every demonstration. It's nuts. They got the world's best there this year.
-Metroid Prime Hunters was solid; the real highlight is the final boss and how it ends
-Ori and the Blind Forest was fantastic and had dev commentary
-Kirby's Tilt N' Tumble. Yes, you can speedrun it. Yes, you can stream it. And you'll be amazed at how.
-Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. It's a trainwreck of a run but in the most wonderful way.
-Roundabout. I haven't played or watched it yet but it's apparently this year's Metal Wolf Chaos and they had the devs.
-Marisa and Alice's Trap Tower because what the hell how is this possible
-Mega Man 4's race apparently ended within a couple seconds of each other
-I Wanna Be The Boshy... witwix admitted it's not his best performance of the game but it's still good
-Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels has the most amazingly chill, personable runner ever
-Luigi's Mansion for the final few minutes.
-Super Mario 64 0 Star. It takes ~8 minutes and someone actually pulls off 0 star live.
-
As long as it is, the Chrono Trigger one wound up being quite interesting because the level of knowledge between the two runners was so incredible. Every last inch of the game has been scrubbed from tip to tail for precious seconds, the amount of RNG manipulation is through the roof, and glitch exploitation polishes off the rest. There were also too many skin-of-your-teeth moments to count. Well worth every minute, especially if you have it playing in the background.
Also some random anonymous donor put forth a total of $51k just for a bit of name derailment. Yikes.

Get wrecked, kill the Hail Demon Chocobo
