Title: 13.5 Hopeless Masquerade gets a black screen on opening

Hi. I've googled this for about an hour, but I can't find anything. I downloaded the game, and the english patch and I can't play either of them. All that pops up is an empty black window. I'm using AppLocale. Touhou 11 & 13 work fine though. I also added d3dx9_43.dll into the folder, but that didn't do anything. Can someone help an idiot out?
