EARLY WARNING: LOTS OF THINGS HAVE CHANGED
Dungeon Fighter Online is a beat-em-up MMO that died because Nexon NA is Nexon NA. Late last year, Neople (the devs) themselves did a quick alpha and just today started the first OBT period. Things you need to know:
1) OBT brings us the Metastasis update, which changes up the entire landscape massively and makes the early levels go by much faster. For instance, Behemoth has been bumped up to the late 30s/early 40s, and many areas you once knew have been completely replaced. As for the early levels, you can get to level 15 (where you can pick a subclass) with about 35-40 fatigue left and you don't even leave the first area to do so.
2) We're back to fatigue. Currently at 156 Fatigue/day (with West getting extra as compensation for server problems) but this may change.
3) Skill resets are now free, so don't be afraid to experiment with your builds now.
4) I couldn't find a topic about it, but if anyone here played during that alpha, you can get those alpha characters back and they'll be at their previous level, albeit without any previous gear (you get a full magic-sealed set to work with). Your characters from Nexon!DFO are dead, however.
5) Dark Knight and Creator have been added, with a chance that F. Slayer will be released before this OBT period ends. Dark Knight and Slayer and two unique classes that do not get job advancements (and cannot participate in PvP), but have their own quirks.
6) Current events for OBT are submitting bugs for a chance at Cera (the new name for the premium currency), squashing (literal) bugs in dungeons to earn rewards, getting coins for clearing dungeons that will be used for safe and inventory expansions right now and maybe stuff in OBT II, and the "New Beginning" title that gives +1 everything you can think of (except skills).
7) The East and West servers are seperate: Characters you use on East can only be used in the East server and vice versa. PvP may be linked though.

Don't want this in the OP (since I like to update the OP with new info), but I'm going to streaming my Battle Mage learning process at www.twitch.tv/smashy
No mic, but will have twitch chat off to the side so I can see that.
-
I can't access my alpha characters, so I'm just leveling a witch for now.
RIP my max level lawnchair.

Also, you should note if you're on the East or West server since they can't interact with each other.
I'm on West, myself.
-
Hmm, decided to give this a shot, I'm rather liking it so far so I guess I'll keep playing. Anyway:
Zentillion, Lv. 9 Slayer (East)
-
Ahh, it's good to be back. I have my level 70 battlemage back in action. Character is named Cyclone on East server. I'm also running my own guild called Halcyon if anybody was interested in joining. Smashy, if you ever need battlemage advice, feel free to ask me.
-
I would like to play again with my Battle Mage but I simply just don't have the time anymore T.T Ah well...
-
I feel like my decision to play on USW was a poor one.
-
Wasn't able to join any server yesterday, sad boys.
-
I can't access my alpha characters, so I'm just leveling a witch for now.
RIP my max level lawnchair.
If you're talking about the facebook linking problems, I had it too but then it got fixed and I was able to get my Exo back.
(pls come East somehow I hear West is dead due to server problems)
Smashy, if you ever need battlemage advice, feel free to ask me.
Other than the really obvious stuff (Ancient Library, Mana Shield, Phase Shift, maybe Panzer Hodor?), what base skills should I even bother with?
-
Did you do anything to fix the problem or did it resolve automatically?
I'll probably end up playing on whatever server my lawnchair gets restored on.
E: Well, apparently, they're going to be fixing some alpha characters' issues in the next maintenance so fingers crossed.
Also, Panzer Hodor is more of a utility for PvP when it comes to BMs.
And Ancient Library is meh unless you're going the chaser build I guess?
-
Even with the chaser build ancient library is pretty poor. Mana shield and phase shift are already BM moves, they are just usable by other classes. Hodor is a PvP skill, yeah. I'd also recommend a single point in disenchant.
-
Well I suppose I have to get the other skills for BM before I have to worry about builds and stuff like that, only level 19 right now :P
(Also I am streem)
-
Just spam everything until you reach the higher levels, it will make your life easier. I mean you get free resets so why not?
-
Just got back on today on the East Server:
Noachia, Level 20 Battle Mage
-
Maintenance notes
- Alpha Test character recovery available now in both (Cain & Delezie) servers for your convienience
If I can get my lawnchair back, I might put it on USE to play with everyone here.
If.
-
You can find me on the East Server.
OddBoy - LV. 63 Silver Moon.
TheSeaSlug - LV. 40 Witch
Gonna do a Soulbender build before too long.
-
My alpha characters still aren't back. :(
RIP my lawnchair.
-
OK I remember this game being region-locked but apparently it isn't anymore so...
I'm on NA-West as sukunekatano - LV. 4 Creator I think?
-
Blimp OP pls nerf (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zeiz_grQM8)
(Yes I am going to change ingame recording settings now)
-
Oh yeah, so for now my characters are Dormiko (Witch) and Dormisa (FSpitfire) on the USW server.
Give me back my alpha characters. :ohdear:
-
And now Zentillion walks the path of the Blademaster at Lv. 17...
Edit: And introducing the currently Lv. 10 Estiyna, a time-taveller who clicks and kills things. Easy to use, but man getting SSS-rank with them is a LOT harder than Slayer and its variants.
Edit 2: Lv. 15 now and I've found the secret to SSS-rank: Take a large enemy, infinijuggle with the normal click attack, and watch your rank go up!
...Also first time I've hit fatigue so no more playing til tomorrow.
-
I played DFO a LONG time ago and couldn't get into it. And I don't think it had anything to do with NexonNA. But maybe it did because they refuesed to give it proper updates or something? I dunno. I mean I'm sure Nexon did a poor job of keeping it updated unless microtransactions were involved or something but that's not why I couldn't get into it. It just didn't feel "tight" to me. I can't really explain it.
Basically. Assuming my issues were not lack of content, or too much cashed things, or broken cash items, or demanding events, or anything like that, was there some giant overhaul at some point that made the base mechanics feel different? I kinda doubt it but you never know. I DO like beatemups which is why I'm asking.
That said I'd murder someone if valkyrie sky got re-hosted by people less dumb, or at the very least, remove the maximum durability loss crap.
-
Act 4 (Which is what the beta starts on) streamlines a lot of the earlier game content. The whole 1-55 process, which is really the worst part of the game is a lot faster now and you only really run a single dungeon 3-5 times during the early part of the game.
I say it's the worst part of the game because you don't have access to most of your skills, which can really hurt the gameplay experience.
Like, DnF is balanced mostly around the endgame. Around 40-50 is when most of the classes really start finding their groove and you can go clear dungeons stylishly without having to wait for cooldowns because you only have three skills to cycle between or something.
And, of course, there have been many balance changes that we missed and stuff that have been introduced. A full list of patch logs isn't too hard to find on google or something but I'm lazy.
...Also first time I've hit fatigue so no more playing til tomorrow.
And here I am hitting fatigue on three characters a day and wondering if I should make more characters or if I should just wait for my alpha character issues to be resolved...
-
Rather glad Fatigue's per character, because if it wasn't that would just be really frustrating. Couple more levels gained on my Blademaster to a nice
, even 20 21.
Also, the Forgotten Forest is a hell of a place, I managed to solo it with said Slayer and 1 coin use but geeez. Probably should quickparty special dungeons from now on.
Edit: Uhh... did the server just break? Hmm.
-
Here's a video of me running Bramble Garden on my Witch (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2GqNQtMBwQ).
I've decided to just randomly record each dungeon as I level up, so we're starting here.
I wish I recorded the earlier dungeons, but whatever.
I'm also collecting the links in my first post here (https://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,18190.msg1172422.html#msg1172422)
-
GOOD NEWS: I am level 50. Yay +10 all stats and exo assisting my bmage (I assume I just stick to Atomic Smash because I don't have the crap to do a quick magic respec for Lightning Amulet or BIRDS) also magic sealed axe that comes with +2 Crucifix Wind.
BAD NEWS: Awakening Quest :colonveeplusalpha:
-
The next dungeon, Viper's Nest! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vc6IAdaPKM)
I was pretty unhappy with the video quality from DnF's built in recorder, you'd think that it would be better by now, so I used my own.
Also, grumble grumble mega drill RNG.
BAD NEWS: Awakening Quest :colonveeplusalpha:
I actually forgot this existed and remembered immediately after I wasted about 1.3m on failing to get my 50 weapon to +10. (It ended up at +7, hail RNGesus)
EDIT: Also, have some Corrupt Temple too. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xZOtfBdmOI)
-
I started with a Spitfire on East, but I don't really feel like continuing unless if somebody can convince me that Gunners get more fun later on, so for now I'm playing a F. Nen Master on West.
On West:
HeupRedown - Lvl 17 Nen Master
On East:
SpacefireMk9 - Lvl 25 Spitfire
-
Personally, I find the early levels of Spitfire to be some of the worst. I mean, all you really have access to are a few bullet skills, the basic grenade, and shared Gunner skills.
To make things worse, your bullet count for the bullet skills you have access to is abysmally low.
I think that Spitfires are one of the coolest classes though and I'm just waiting for that delicious second awakening to hit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJ3UV4-RuVU
I mean who doesn't want to be able to do that?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fhsp9r2S7yo
-
Yeah! Finally got my alpha characters back. But I don't have a quest clear coupon for my lawnchair. Oh well.
-
Added the official blog to the first post. Also, Burning Time (2x exp) this weekend again.
-
(I know double post but important things)
This weekend, burning event for EU.
Also it's pretty much confirmed now that we're getting Knight (http://wiki.dfo-world.com/images/1/16/KnightPortrait.png) for OBT2, and probably saving F. Slayer for official release.
Right now, Knight only has two subclasses:
* Elven Knight - Uses shields to block stuff, and has a skill that lets her time her skill chains for increased damage. Or you can ride a unicorn. Uses Plate Armor, Zanbatos, Shields, and NATURE.
* Chaos - Summoner type, but the Chaos herself fights as well with moves that command her summons to either attack a target or get in a formation. Also has JoJo-style ORA ORA for awakening attack. Uses Heavy Armor and Short Swords.
-
In other words, Neople said "You thought it was Uncle Scooby, but no, it was me, Scrappy!". Poor FSlayer.
-
I'll probably make a Chaos just because but really I'm waiting for Shadow Dancer.
Also, I've been uploading more videos as I level up on my witch.
They're all in this handy playlist so you should totally check it out:
https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNbP4tfGAnclWtQGPg__5XV7BvZc7824Y
I wonder if 70 is doable before the alpha ends. Should be with double FP/EXP this weekend. Hopefully.
-
Looking at those vids, I kind of wonder why Captain Shred, of all people, represents the 55-70 channels when he's, like, the second Ghent boss. :V
-
He's one of the most annoying though with high mobility and lots of super armor.
-
That or get shotgunned by missiles for 40%+ HP :V
I dunno why, but it seems like after Ghent Battlefield the bosses get easier. I'm pretty sure I've yet to die to either Midnight Assault or Kartel Supply Camp. Maybe it's because level 60 lets you get the passive that lets Black Tortoise grab bosses, but it also feels like neither of those two bosses can whip out a move that takes a third of your health out of nowhere.
-
Yeah, Antwer Canyon's boss balance difficulty is pretty lulzy, especially compared to the post-metastasis era Arad dungeons. Don't worry though, Oceanic Express will bring the cheapness right back out. I hate ALL the bosses of Oceanic Express, though Commodore Cannonhand and Beornan are pretty manageable once you know what to do (don't knock CCh up high, don't be to close to Beornan when he turns red, etc.). Enzo on the other hand is completely rocking my shit; started with 19 tokens tonight. Lost one to some silly glitching during an Iron Scale run. Enzo made off with the other eight.
But yeah, Shred was my nightmare during Alpha. I don't know what'd I'd do if I didn't have access to a bajillion tokens. I think he's especially bad for melee classes in general, though only my Silver Moon has fought with him so far. My Witch will be there not too long from now, and my Blade Master from the old game never made it.
Babylon is even worse, imo, though he goes down way quicker, despite also having Super Armor hax.
-

How can you hate Quong'qng when you hear her theme start? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELf39AlGxwk)

Shred is annoying but if you play it safe he's quite easy since all of his moves have fairly obvious tells.
Of course I hate playing it safe against Shred because it takes forever to kill him without holds due to super armor.
Babylon is even worse, imo, though he goes down way quicker, despite also having Super Armor hax.
Babylon doesn't really do all that much though as long as you rush him down.
I mean if you give him time to set up a few vipers or something you're in for an annoying fight but otherwise he just kind of dies too fast to be any real threat.
-
The boss ripping into me right now is King Widir, I think I've used the most tokens on him. Seriously, that lightning attack and ESPECIALLY that heatup attack wreck me. Though maybe that's because of how squishy Creator is, even with her armor type... Thankfully I just have to kill him one more time to not have to fight him again... On Hard, though. Egh, probably should just quickparty it, even though last time I quickpartied the Gold Cave? ...I was the only survivor.
Edit: Or, you know, I can completely wreck his shit this time, that works, too.
Edit 2: And then I meet Gigalodon and learn the meaning of pain...
-
(http://i.imgur.com/rvBkPAD.jpg)
Yay, I hit 70 on a non-alpha character.
I wonder how many times I ran express train...
-

Jellyfish :colbert:

Jellyfish :colbert:
I will fight you.

How did that extra "H" get in there? Fixed.

ECKS DEE
Also, tried mexo yesterday, failed a whole bunch because I decided to do it on Westbound (didn't die to the boss at least), instantly get a superior-grade Fire Bracelet.
BACK TO PEXO I GUESS? I really SHOULD take the time to learn MExo (especially keybinds) but I want to get through this last 2x exp with what I'm familiar with.
-
Konnagaratulations, Dormio, on getting Dormiko to 70!
-
I should probably play a bit more and actually get the safe upgrade.
...effort though. :v
-
And thats the end of of OBT1. OBT2 begins in 24 hours!
-
I'm wondering if I should make an Elven Knight or remake my Elementalist for the growing weapon.
Decisions, decisions.
-
I'm wondering if I should make an Elven Knight or remake my Elementalist for the growing weapon.
Decisions, decisions.
but... the pony!!
-
Well, I set my Knight challenge to 70.
I also started on ToD with my Witch. I have no idea what any of the APCs there do so this will be interesting. I already got wrecked on the second floor.
EDIT: Also, Dress-up Fighter Online has begun.
-
Welp, I can tell already that my Exorcist is going to have to use Shenanigans to defeat AoA round 6 no matter which way I go. Either I have to do some weapon switching and maybe take a point in Shikigami Legion (easy) or I have to drink a Jack Frost Flask (hard)
-
Mission accomplished. (http://i582.photobucket.com/albums/ss269/OddaSii/ScreenShot2015_0415_210933020edit.jpg)
-
So I stopped being lazy and finally got my Launcher to 70 as well.

Nice!
What did you set as a challenge character, if any?
-
Nice!
What did you set as a challenge character, if any?
A Knight, or rather now, a Chaos. Probably should've put it on something else, but eh.
-
Chaos levels pretty fast though, since she clears content without breaking a sweat, so it shouldn't really hurt too much if you don't like that character that much.
-
so what the hell is mileage in the challenge rewards and why should i have dormio power-grind me to 70 for it
-
Mileage is stuff you get for clearing dungeons and spending cash on the game.
You can use mileage to buy useful things like fatigue potions and avatar extension coupons (for the free ones).
-
Check my kicks. (https://youtu.be/ICRi4SMV2Jo)
Also, it seems as if every normal weekend will be +20 FP and the hunting exp bonus. Yes I know it's late to say this for this weekend but still.
-
RIP Average Fighter
(http://i.imgur.com/6cq2vBF.png)
-
Oh wow! DFO's back? I'm glad I checked the forum. It was one of my favorite games. Definitely going to give it a download :D
-
Have to reach lvl 61 in a week, to finish the level challenge and make that pet thing permanent.
What is the fastest way to do that? :derp:
-
- Burn all but 1 FP
- Use that 1 FP to full clear the dungeon that gives you the most EXP
- Use the 50 FP mileage pot, burn all but 1 FP from that
- Use that 1 FP to full clear the dungeon that gives you the most EXP
- Use the 20 FP mileage pot, burn all but 1 FP from that
- Use that 1 FP to full clear the dungeon that gives you the most EXP
- Use the 30 FP alchemy pot, burn all but 1 FP from that
- Use that 1 FP to full clear the dungeon that gives you the most EXP
- Gain 1 FP from mentorship bonuses
- Use that 1 FP to full clear the dungeon that gives you the most EXP
- Repeat the mentorship FP thing 9 more times
When you unlock these:
- Clear TotD 3 times (ToI if you can't access TotD yet)
- Clear AoI 3 times (You can run AoI 3 more times if you level up)
- Clear AoA 3 times
Do this and you should go from 1->70 in around 10 days (probably less, actually, but I forgot how long it took).
Also, generally, you want to clear your epics then grind special dungeons until you unlock the next set of epics.
Doesn't matter much at lower levels, since epics alone should get you to the next level, but something to think about later.
You should always run the highest difficulty available, since higher difficulty = more EXP.
If you don't do any of the tryhard stuff, just burning all your FP every day on the highest difficulty dungeon you have available should get you to max level in like 2~3 weeks anyway.
Oh, also, a couple of other pointers:
- Try to get the adventurer bonus by getting at least one character above 40. The stats don't matter but you'll get a 10% EXP bonus for having even level 1 of the bonus.
- Get at least one avatar item so that you get the bonus EXP for having an avatar item equipped.
- Join a high level guild with the EXP buff, free EXP is always nice.
- SSS rank is super easy to achieve, just juggle some random enemy a few times when they're dead if you don't have enough points, and is a bunch of bonus EXP so make sure you always SSS rank a dungeon.
- Try to have any purchasable items for epics pre-prepared. The less runs you have to do to finish your epic line and the more runs you can do on your grinding dungeon, the better.
- Don't use your double EXP potions immediately. They yield more EXP at later levels so try to save them until they're about to expire. Also try to time it so that you use them when you're grinding out your special dungeons, since those are good EXP.

Well, Chaos/Demon Queen absolutely facerolls everything to the point where I lose my mind playing her. Knight class is a wash for me. Having a lot more fun with my Soul Bender. In the mean time, my Trickster is almost at the end of the journey.
OddBoy - LV. 70 Silver Moon
TheSeaSlug - LV. 64 Trickster
OddtheC - LV. 34 Soul Bender
Psygnis - LV. 31 Chaos

Elven Knight is not too bad. You get a pony and stuff! But her only real source of damage is Chain Rush and you have to be competent at it to do any semblance of high damage. Otherwise it is fun to be basically immortal

Chaos also gets hit by the nerf bat pretty hard so there's that. Until then, one shotting bosses with Genocide Crush is always fun to watch.
Dormiko - 70 Trickster
Esculentus - 70 Demolitionist
Servitus - 63 Peacemaker
Dormisa - 43 Spitfire
Etheldreda - 26 Mechanic
Dormio - 25 Battle Mage
Nyancou - 22 Ranger
Probably going to try to get either my Spitfire or Battle Mage to 70 before OBT2 ends once I finish my Elven Knight.

*levelling advice*
One more thing about this: Special Dungeons are a fixed 8 FP with the rooms costing nothing, so unless a exp potion is going to run out unless you kill the boss RIGHTNOW you should be fullclearing Specials.
(This only applies to the Specials at Meltdown and Fanatics. All others except Ghent are straight paths and Ghent's Special requires a fullclear anyways.)
Also on the topic of characters, I've been hit by real-life pretty hard so the EK I'm levelling for the challenge is actually catching up to my BM since I usually only have enough time to play one character plus my Exo's ToDespair attempts.
Smashy - Level 70 Hyperion
Smasheh - Level 56 Bellatrix
ripSG - Level 52 Peacemaker

This took a lot longer than it should have because I'm lazy, but I hit 70 on my Elven Knight.

Now, time to get to work on leveling my Spitfire.

What Trance posted has since been relaxed to allowing materials and minimum level of 30, but update stuff:
They not only gave us Time Gate, but Suju as well. This means all you fixed-damage people (hi Dormio) can get your upgrading on: The Dragon Forge lets you Refine weapons, which is like Reinforcing but it helps fixed out as well. And yeah Time Gate, so level 70-78 dungeons ahoy, dunno if we also got Hell Modes.
Also, Clone Avatars. With stats. Better get those avatar-perming tickets ready.

Hey, I play my Elven Knight too! I really need to get her gear above +11 though.
