Title: Anyone here play Factorio?
Post by: Failure McFailFace on January 20, 2015, 11:09:38 PM
So i stumbled upon Factorio a month ago, and I've been hocked in it. I haven't played it, I'm thinking of buying it.
It's US$15, but you get all updates for free, which is nice considering that it's an alpha game.

Oh man, I have a group of friends who won't shut up about it.
I saw the trailer and have heard a lot of good stuff about it, but I still haven't swallowed the bullet and bought it.

Just tried the demo, it ain't bad. Could get addicting, and if they let people design scenarios with custom goals and challenges it'd add a lot of replayability to this game. I'm a bit reluctant to dump $15 onto a game still in alpha considering I'm broke, I'll keep an eye on it and maybe grab it when it launches and hopefully goes on sale or has a promotion :3c
Though apparently I still need a lot of work staying organized. On the last level of the demo campaign I pretty much accidentally split my base into two with the steam engines and radar and had to walk all the way around to go from one side to another :V
Edit: Nevermind, looked around screenshots and forums and apparently development has been going for quite a while and the game's already pretty well-developed. I guess I might buy it the next time I have free time to walk a few miles for a prepaid card ; v;

So I spent an hour typing a post, made the mistake of not copying all the text before hitting preview, and session lost ate everything. orz
Anyways, bought the game, played some of the campaign. Worth. Awesome assembly line designing game despite considering itself in alpha, do buy it if you have the funds. (http://puu.sh/eU3dH/411bbed2f1.jpg) So my first fully automatic assembly line for making materials for tech tree research (the vial things), plus plenty surplus output in case I need them for anything else. Arrows indicate which product goes into what machine, and also point out my silliness for cramming everything in one place instead of just branching them out like a sane and organized person. The boxed area shows me gaming the system by placing inserters one after another, thereby artificially combining their effective stuff-grabbing range. GENIUS
