Speedruns!  Some cool stuff this year, as usual...and, in keeping with the theme of the last couple years, I am unemployed and have no money to donate.  But at least I'll be able to watch!

RIGHT NOW, RIGHT HERE (https://gamesdonequick.com/)

SCHEDULE OF GAMES HERE (https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule)

Q: WTF is AGDQ2015?
A: A seven day long speedrunning marathon, and by a massive margin the largest of its type.  Last year, AGDQ was able to raise over a million dollars for the Prevent Cancer Foundation (http://preventcancer.org/)

Q: Are the runners good?
A: Some of the world's best!

Q: Should I watch?
A: Absolutely!  AGDQ only happens once a year, after all! (Although a smaller Summer event does occur in the middle of the year)

I'd type more but you should all know the drill by now IT'S AMAZING GO WATCH AND DISCUSS HERE.

New Super Marisa Land tomorrow night! There's a bunch of other interesting titles like Umihara Kawase, Shovel Knight, and others that should be really fun. Traditional FF speedrun towards the end, plus a 100% versus run of Super Metroid.

Charity Navigator ranks the Prevent Cancer Foundation as pretty solid. I think they picked a charity some time ago that didn't seem to have all their bearings, but they've moved in a positive direction since.

I don't have much else to say that hasn't been said. The Tropical Freeze run was amazing and the game itself has some impressive design. TASBot is as magical as ever, glad to see it in proper action. :3c Looking forward to the rest of the week!

On a more somber note, if you know of anyone who's suffering from cancer, survived it, or had a childhood hero(ine) that was affected by it, please donate so others can survive. For me, my childhood hero was Christine Cavanaugh (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Creator/ChristineCavanaugh), the voice of many cartoon characters I watched back in the 90s (Dexters Lab and Rugrats to name a few). Let us never forget those affected by cancer, or forget how these people changed our lives.

That said, enjoy the speedruns! And remember: if it hasn't happened before, it probably will in this marathon! :D

That feel.  I gotta dig up the run of MK64 from TASbot later.

Also that Super Monkey Ball run was buttclenching he ran out of lives near the end of Expert and you could just sense everyone in the room holding their breath.

Getting PokeRed to play Twitch Plays PokeRed plays AGDQ was brilliant.

There was some Marble Madness-esque game on this morning and the speedrunner had all the physics shenanigans down pat. Even if it was just 5 minutes in the regular middle-of-nowhere games they run during downtime, it made for a fantastic watch.
Also @Reddyne AGDQ and SGDQ have different charity sponsors, AGDQ  have been supporting pcf since the beginning
I think I got my wires crossed in general since I've been doing bits of charity research on occasion over the last few years but can't for the life of me nail down the one or two charities that I had found that hadn't been doing a good job of things.

(Looking forward to Death Race most whoops)

Yep, Will Stamper (Narrator) and Dan 'Synj' Paladin (Artist) were in the skype call and the entire run was just amazingly hilarious.

Nifflas' birthday is also today, and he was in the Skype call during Midboss' run of Within a Deep Forest.

There's a whole lot of Mario stuff this afternoon that might be ~*~MAINSTREAM~*~ but will probably be rife with speedrun perfectionists, tricks, and shenanigans.

Elder Scrolls 3 is tomorrow morning (Jan. 7th) but EARLY (6 am) and it helps to know the game inside and out to appreciate. For anyone that does, it'll be quite the show.

The evening of the 7th has 3 great niche platformers in Mischief Makers, Umihara Kawase, and Shovel Knight that have all deservedly received plaudits and the best Kirby game is floating in between.

On the 8th in the afternoon there's the Punch-Out!! games which are great (and have some fun incentives) and SotN should be a laugher. The games in the evening are good in general and again lend themselves to being entertaining playthroughs.

The 9th has Metroid before your big block of great LoZ games.

And everything on the second half of the day on the 10th should be worth the watch, although much of the challenge will be understanding just how much players will forgo in order to save some time.

Sonic Heroes was actually really interesting the game's broken to shit
F-Zero Climax and GX were pretty solid (although nothing near the raw hype machine that was GX last year)
Battleblock Theatre is like 3 hours long but as mentioned the entire thing is comedy gold

Also I'd come chill in the IRC to discuss things for once but apparently (and I have 0 idea why this is given I've connected to it precisely once in the past) my host is blacklisted or something so

They go through the final track backwards, then load up the other 4 tracks in right order; in which you instantly are WINNER, and then on the final track it crashes and that's time. Not even 3 mins 30.

A Mega Man NES race I'd love to see. Perhaps make it more interesting by playing it in reverse order?

That Yoshi's Island race was beautiful. Crispy kept catching up then screwing up, but overall it was quite close.

More than the number of existing Pok?mon.

Pok?mon Red and Blue's error handling is so good that it treats anything as standard data until something crashes, so hackers have much fun.

At the rate we keep discovering new glitches in older games...What's the possibility we'll just be able to skip to the end of every game ever? :V

This is both incredibly tense yet incredibly rewarding to follow. This guy has dedicated an incredible amount of time and effort to something really ridiculous that could theoretically pay for the salary and benefits for an educated and experienced lab tech to work on a project for two full years. :V

Final count: $1.12 million at Finale, but a buggy donation tracker means that they maybe raised as much as $1.5 million. :o

This event never ceases to surprise me; I just wish school and work didn't cause me to miss so much of it.

TASBot could play.
