Seriously?
Cowboy Bebop-like opening theme and graphics, early 90's animation stylings, KyoAni moeblob?

This isn't a joke?

Did they take that fake/fanmade K-On! character (http://taikutsu.wordpress.com/2010/03/17/hoax-of-k-on-new-character/) and run with it?

So many question marks!

I was seriously disappointed that ZR euphonium girl never showed up at all in S2.  Freakin' whatsherface with the hair and laid-back look that had no lines got her screentime, why not ZR euphonium girl?!

Alas, Nichijou was way more popular overseas than it was in Japan, and it never even got a release over here because geneon went under in the middle of producing the release.

Was K-ON ever about music on more than a superficial level?  I'm curious because I really can't stand "cute girls doing cute things" tripe.
At least this is about (hopefully) Jazz, rather than Pop Rock.  Wonder how they're going to do the vocal too.

You're the one who described Blade Runner as slow.  I know the entirety of your native language consists of "hue," "huae," and "huehuae" but that doesn't excuse the appearance of disparaging Blade Runner.  Check your Voight-Kampff privilege.  :colbert:

At first I was like "oh god finally something might progress with the two of them" and then that happened and "oh neat" but then afterwards I just felt like something was off despite it sounding pretty clear. Watched it through twice and damned if I know what for sure but there's just something not sitting right with me. Maybe it's that the episode, otherwise, was a little sad but  it's just a little like they admire each others attitude and personality rather than each other entirely. Perhaps it's because there has been barely any personal interaction between the two of them so far or maybe I'm just completely wrong about how it seemed (good chance). I dunno. I was surprised enough at how things were going through this ep so I'd be much more surprised if anything more happens.
Anyway, I don't really know anything about KyoAni or the writers so do you guys think it might actually go somewhere?

Absolutely not.

Not even having anything to do with KyoAni. I just don't think there has been one hint of real sexual tension here.

Ignore weirdos and their tendency to yurify everything.

Pretty much. Guys, I know a lot of people really want it, but
yuri route isn't happening. At all. That was a bonding moment between two friends, nothing more. A beautiful, intense, intimate even, bonding moment. But there was no sexual or romantic tension there.

Which is marvelous too, otherwise it would be shallow, predictable, and ultimately boring as hell.

Title: Re: Betcha weren't expecting the feels: Hibike! Euphonium!
Post by: Kiro on June 17, 2015, 07:12:33 AM
I love how real the interactions feel in this series. It's all legitimate band drama which is just an expression of high school drama: cliques, senior privilege and elitism. But I love even more how the various students start to understand that the actions they have taken have consequences. Only the bravest people clap at the end of the second audition: Yuko, Haruka, Kumiko and Hazuki. Along with Kaori and Reina, these people are the selfish ones and I think that's wonderful. When Taki-sensei then offers the solo to Kaori first, you can just feel most the other students think, "crap, I didn't voice my opinion and now the weaker player might get the part". It was an amazing little twist that shows how difficult it is to get Japanese students out of their conformity.

I think the above might give us hope that Kumiko and Reina don't go yuri on us. Their fascination for each other is similar to Yuko's for Kaori and to some extent Kaori for Asuka. It just happens that Kumiko's and Reina's language was more dramatic. Also, this exchange in Episode 11 seems to be heavily driven by Kumiko eavesdropping on the earlier conversation and her own past experience being a "villain." And, Reina likes Taki-sensei and Kumiko is merely fascinated by Reina, not infatuated, so she will back off especially since Taki-sensei is a senior figure.

If they go yuri... I will upload a recording of me singing Tutti... or something... plz no yuri...

Also, Season 2 please.

This show has been very consistent in not adding pointless stuff then not explaining it at all, so I'm just gonna throw it out there that
Shuiichi fucking up his trombone part isn't irrelevant at all, and I'm gonna throw it further out there that it has everything to do with his infatuation for Kumiko, and we'll see development on that front.
I really hope so, anyway, but
the ammount and style of hinting and baiting is pretty similar to the way they showed Hazuki noticing Shuiichi. Kumiko clearly notices Shuiichi too, so.

MEGABUMP because there's an OVA out and it's effectively another episode that ties up some loose ends. You should watch it.

While I'm bumping, in case you guys don't know, a second season has been green-lit, though who knows when that's coming. There's also a recap movie coming out in April if you want to do a rewatch.
