Title: Boho Koumakyou Scarlet Family 2 [Map Guide][Coloured]
Post by: Heartnet on September 19, 2014, 09:21:49 PM
This all started because I was missing that one heart in my first playthrough, and I didn't want to backtrack every corner of the dungeon to find it. So, I decided to start a new game and make a map this time.

*Updated*: The map is now cleaned and coloured.

Map:

Other Heart Locations:
There are 2 hearts that are obtainable in the character selection screen (home):

Additional Information
Character Stats:
In case you don't already know, the power-ups (Heart/Power/Slot) increases your attributes (Life/Strength/Magic) respectively.

How to Save: The game automatically saves every time you return home.

Kirisame Magic Shop:
You can visit Marisa's shop in Level 1 to 7, which acts as a warp-point later on after obtaining SCROLL/GRIMOIRE. Your game progress is NOT saved.
Each shop in their own respective area(level) has one unique item/accessory on sale, which you could only buy once.

10 power-ups for each type (Heart/Power/Slot) are available for purchase in the shop.
The prices are 100/200/400/800/1600/3200/6400/12800/25600/51200
So, if you plan to buy everything in her shop, you would need a total of 378600 Gold. (Daylight Robbery)

Item Description
Here is a list of brief description for the items and accessories, which I split into two categories:
"Equipable Items" means that the item can only be equip/unequip during the sacrifice departure screen. Consumes Magic when equipped.
"Non-equipable Items" means that the effect of the item takes place permanently as soon as you obtained it.

Equipable Items:
Note:Unlike the previous two games, the healing items cannot be used directly from the inventory, and will automatically be consumed when your health bar hits zero. Each healing item is one-time use and is only refilled when you return home.

Food A - Recovers small amount of health (Magic Consumption: 3)
Food B - Recovers small amount of health (Magic Consumption: 2)
Food C - Recovers large amount of health (Magic Consumption: 4)
Food D - Recovers large amount of health (Magic Consumption: 3)
Food E - Fully recovers health (Magic Consumption: 4)

Crystal    - Automatic return home when you die. (Saving all your progress)(Magic Consumption: 4)
Kirisame Blade   - Allows you to cut normal danmaku. (Magic Consumption: 4)
Shield      - Reduces the damage received by half. (Magic Consumption: 4)
Scrap      - Enables the option to return home in the inventory menu. (Magic Consumption: 2)
Scroll      - Instantly teleport to Marisa's shops that you have visited. One-time use. (Magic Consumption: 2)
Grimoire   - Instantly teleport to Marisa's shops that you have visited. Infinite use. (Magic Consumption: 2)

Vital Ring II   - Increases Life++         (Magic Consumption: 4)
Power Ring   - Increases Strength+         (Magic Consumption: 3)
Power Ring II   - Increases Strength++         (Magic Consumption: 4)
Yumega-Hiroga Ring - Increases Money+ dropped by enemy   (Magic Consumption: 3)
Yumega-Hiroga Ring II - Increases Money++ dropped by enemy   (Magic Consumption: 4)
Hard Mode Ring   - Reduces Strength to 1         (Magic Consumption: 0)

Non-equipable Items:
Maddock      - Allows Meiling to break certain type of blocks.
Glass      - Allows Patchouli to distinguish fake blocks around her. Useful for finding hidden passages in the dungeon.
Pocket Watch   - Allows Sakuya to stop time (Duration: 4s, Cooldown: 10s). During time-stop, she is invulnerable and her knives are aimed to the nearest enemy.
Booster      - Allows Flandre to dash in a straight line. She is invulnerable when dashing and it cannot be cancelled until she hits a wall (Cooldown: 4s), the dash itself does NO damage.
Wing      - Allows Remilia to toggle between flying and walking. When flying, she shoots 3 spears instead of one, and flies slower when attacking.

Spring L   - Allows you to jump higher.
Spring R   - Allows you to perform a second jump in the air.
Dash Boot L   - Increases movement speed.
Dash Boot R   - Increases movement speed when holding the attack button.
Trap      - Used to capture Koakuma at home. Make Koakuma a playable character.
Potion      - Reveal the total amount of power-ups available in the game.
(Heart:42, Power:22, Slot:22)
Poster      - Boho Youyoumu promotional poster. Gives you one heart at home.

Key 1      - Key used to open Silver Gate.
Key 2      - Key used to open Golden Door.
Cozeny 1,2,3,4   - Coins used for Donation Box. You need 4 of them to get past the box.
Yukkuri R & L   - Key items needed to get past the Yukkuri Block, in order to gain access to Level 11.

Unlockable Playable Characters:
Koakuma   - Unlocks upon obtaining the item TRAP. Her special ability allows her to stay invulnerable (Duration: 7s, Cooldown: 10s). The effect can be cancelled by attacking. Her spawn point is at Level 8 instead of Level 1, and she is required to explore Level 8.
Cirno   - Unlocks upon defeating her in Level 2. Her special ability allows her to freeze fairies(only) for 4s and uses them as a stepping block. She is required to explore the upper part of Level 10.
Rumia   - Unlocks upon defeating her in Level 2. Her special ability allows her to go EX Rumia Mode, able to one-hit KO most enemies, at the cost of draining her health gradually. The effect cannot be toggled off and will revert to normal mode when her health bar hits 1. If you brought any healing items with you, the items will be consumed to extend the duration of her ability.

Feel free to comment or give suggestions that could help improve this map.

Side Note:
Map made using MS Paint, cleaned and coloured using GIMP.
If you notices, there are some unwanted background images in my map, thus preventing me from colouring the map to make the map navigation easier.
Unless there is an easier way to remove them, I'll just have to clean it pixel by pixel before I could colour it, which is very inefficient and time-consuming.

So yeah, if you have any solution to this issue, let me know.

I don't know for paint.net, but GIMP have a "by pixel selection" tool (Edit : I read too quickly, you use MS Paint, not Paint.NET . MS Paint definitively doesn't have that feature).
It won't be perfect, but it should be able to do most of the job.
Here is the result with a threshold of 50 : http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2014/38/1411297305-a9fjktx-2.png

For color-coding, I'd suggest using a slightly more advanced image editor, such as Gimp (it's free). Then, what you could do is select the areas you wanted to be color-coded, and then use "Colorize" to change the overall color of the selection to what you want. It'd look something like this (http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p120/Ryason55/BohoMap_ColorCode.png). The only thing is that this will also affect the text and icons you've added to the map. Would you happen to have a version of the map without those?

Anyways, good work on the map and item guide. Convinced me to actually boot up my copy of the game and finally get around to streaming it. Only problem I had with the map is that I kept trying to go for items I didn't have the jumping power to actually reach. :V

It took me awhile to understand how to use the GIMP tools  :V  I used the "Colour Balance" instead because I didn't know how to adjust to the colour I want with the "Colorize" option.
Anyway, thanks for the suggestion, and here's the result (http://imgur.com/H7h8iVo). I tried to match it according to the levels' respective background colour as close as possible.

Now, all that's left is to put the item locations and texts again :|
This may take a few hours after double checking everything and stuff.

Special thanks to brliron for doing the map cleaning :)

Edit: Map updated. Check first post.
