Hello again, I'm experiencing problems with PoFV (specifially the english patch may be?), well, let me explain my situation...
I started to play the story mode, then I finished the game, watched the ending, credits and put my name. Everything right until here but the game asked me to save a replay, I selected "yes", wrote my name and then finish but when I finish the game automatically crashes and the system solution finder window appear.
Once I close it the game closes and the data isn't saved (new characters, replay and the score) and it's annoying, it happened twice!!.
And sorry, I don't hold screenshots nor videos that could help, specially because no error message or code is printed on a window.
I use Windows 8.1, running PoFV v1.50a and english-patched.

It's probably your installation. I just tried it now (Windows prompted to install DirectPlay as I opened PoFV, but I skipped it, idk what it's for lol), game overed at stage 2 on purpose and the replay saved fine. The game gave an error message as I closed it, but the replay was there. Have you tried compatibility mode with admin rights or something? I use vpatch if that matters.

I'm quite sure this is not specific to Windows 8.1. PoFV is known for having some issues saving replays and will crash every now and then, pretty much at random, and what you describe looks a lot like it.
I had minor success decreasing the frequency at which this occurs by following the advice given on the wiki : select a spot to save the replay, then get back to "do you want to save replay" and save replay afterwards.

Ahh yes, I remembered when Windows asked me for DirectPlay and I installed it :3.

I see but when I had Win.7 that issue wasn't present and the replay was saved, dunno what's the source of the problem but I'll play with some configs.

I tried with your recomendations Jirachi but I've got a glitchy look-a-like dialog (attached).
I followed the instructions on the readme as well.
Edit: Now trying with running the english ver. as admin. Now working!, oh, forgot what I said lol.
