So that I can stream EoSD, but the game always freezes on loading screen everytime I do it. I've changed it to compability mode (Windows XP Service Pack 3) but it didn't work. Help? :(
-
I tried it on my dad's laptop today (Win7) and it works. Strange, does anyone with Win8.1 has this problem?
-
I think I remember having the same problem, seems to be a Win8.1 thing.
-
I have this problem as well. It is in fact a Win8/8.1 issue. However, I do not know what causes it, especially when the game may randomly choose to run in window mode one day and the next it does what the OP stated, freezing during the initial loading screen. (also gonna note that PCB demo does the same probably due to it still being mostly EoSD's engine)
-
Does that mean there is absolutely no way to fix it? Then I can't stream EoSD :(
I never use Fraps before, but is it possible to record EoSD using that?
-
I'm not saying its impossible to fix but we have no idea what is causing the error besides its a Win8 thing. The only fix I know so far is to play the untranslated version in fullscreen.

It should, I have never had problems with fraps outside of it causing Touhou games to lock up every few seconds. For streaming I would use OBS which can also output video files.

I had this problem before, my solution was this:
1. Change the language for non-Unicode programs to Japanese, you can use this tutorial: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/29081-language-non-unicode-programs-change-windows.html
2. Download this (http://puu.sh/amP9E/b1ad7f7f5b.zip), extract the zip file, and move all the files to the folder where EoSD is located.
3. If you are using an English patch for EoSD, rename th06e.exe to 東方紅魔郷.exe.
4. Run vpatch.exe every time you use EoSD (or just when you are using the windowed version).
-
Can you just use Applocale for vpatch?
-
For using vpatch, AppLocale is not necessary at all. Just name the EoSD executable “Œ•?g–‚‹?.exe (quote included, ignore the .exe if you have extensions disabled). If you're using the English patch, renaming the DATs isn't necessary.

Thanks for the help, everyone! Will try this out when I go back home in 2 weeks ;)

Just a (stupid) question since I haven't tried it out. I already have a vpatch for EoSD and it has the same problem as for the non-vpatch version, is there any difference in your tutorial?
-
Since the problem is streaming, have you tried different software? Do you use XSplit or OBS? Whatever you use, try the other. ;)
Always use the latest version.
-
I use OBS :)

Windows 8 Single-Language here. I have had this problem too. EoSD would not run in Windows Mode normally, nor would the English-patched version.
However, if i ran the original executable through Applocale (with Japanese), it ran perfectly even in Windowed mode.
Note that i said "it ran". Right now, the problem has arisen for me again after almost three months of it working in perfect order.
-
It's okay, I also set it to Japanese to let the vpatch works.
-
What the hell, man. Right now I can play EoSD windowed on Win8.1. Problem solved?
-
So...vpatch?
-
Vpatch works fine.
-
I meant if vpatch was what fixed it, guess I should've clarified it.
-
No no, the problem has existed even before I used vpatch. Today is just a magical recovery.
-
Reading your post above, i suddenly decided to try and run my EoSD, and yep, it loaded up and played perfectly the 5 to 6 times i closed and restarted it.
Running on Windows 8 Single Language, with AppLocale, just like before when it would stop responding at the 'Wait Warmly' screen.
Can't decide what is more annoying.... the game not working at all, or the fact that getting it to work is a hit or miss dependent on seemingly random factors.....

Running Windows 8.1 here. I can play EoSD on windowed anytime I want w/o AppLocale, and it also works with OBS.
I use the english patch and vpatch, but I use the unicode vpatch DLL (http://thpatch.net/wiki/File:vpatch_th06_unicode.zip) and I've renamed th06e.exe to 東方紅魔郷.exe so that it works with the unicode DLL.
