Game of Thrones seems pretty popular, surely some people here would like to discuss it.
In case you're wondering what Game of Thrones is, it's an HBO tv series based on George R.R. Martain's Song of Ice and Fire series. It takes place in a fantasy land called Westeros, the narrative travels from the viewpoints of several people as their families fight to take the throne. It's on the gory side, and it has more than a few sexually explicit scenes, but if you like/don't mind that stuff, it has a great storyline and interesting characters. If you're going from books to the series or viceversa, know that while season 1 = book and season 2 = book 2, things get hazier in the later seasons, where some material for season 3 is taken from books 4 and 5 for example. Nonetheless, I'm told that's mostly faithful the novels.

Sadly, I don't have a place where you can watch this stuff legally for free(if you do, please tell me,) but it's worth it.
spoilers for season 4 episode 7/8
Really looking forward to Oberyn vs. the Mountain. Haven't read the books, but I'm thinking Oberyn will win just because he seems to be an important character who hasn't done anything important yet. On the other hand, I haven't been into Danerys' storyline lately. I'm getting a lot of Satsuki(KLK) vibes from her.

I haven't been watching since the first season since I got bored of seeing things I've already read, but my roommate tells me this season has a bunch of new stuff in it and I have to watch it. So I guess tonight we're going to watch the new episode together.

Heh, love this show!
Been watching with a friend. I loved that even after 3 and a half seasons, he was freaked out the most about ep8. While my reaction was only this. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OISR3al5Bnk)
I heard from the book readers that the next two episodes (I always watch two at the same time, it feels better) will have some stuff that's like THE Holy Shit moment of a book of 100 holy shits. And this season was full of holy shits already.
And yeah, I also heard that this season started to differ from the books a whole lot now, both with removed scenes, changed scenes and completely new scenes, and characters.

I haven't actually watched it, but I have read the books.
you'll love what oberyn will do to the mountain, if i recall the book correctly.

I watched it last night. First episode I've seen since the end of season one.
The fight seemed kind of weird and awkward to me. Maybe it was supposed to be that way to highlight what a laughable clown Oberyn was being? Was he actually supposed to be parrying those sword swings with his spear, or was he just tapping the sword with the spear as a taunt? And the end was oddly staged. One minute The Mountain was on the ground, not moving, totally dead, then he was like "I'm okay, completely unharmed, murder" and then he was completely dead again. Seems like a continuum of flailing around on the ground and dying would have made more sense and been more dramatic. It still all worked, I was just expecting it to be more... coherent, I guess?

Watching this serie but havent read / listened the audio books yet.
So i cannot really judge the differences. Serie is for me enjoyable as it contains some dynamic changes.
Also the serie has quite alot of nude or sexual scenes. Pretty much every episode.

Well, that was a loaded episode. It seems a lot of people aren't happy about it but I liked it. I thought of the character's actions were questionable though. Makes me wonder what they'll do next season.

Happy Father's Day. :D
I really liked it myself. First time I felt like that this was an ending of a movie, not just the ending of a season. Of course, that is because most of the stories that have been going since Season 1 have ended, due this season being the second half of Book 3 (besides some of the Book 4 storylines for characters that had all their Book 3 stories told in last season, like Dany's), and Book 3 was considered to be the last book for a while. So yeah, next season will be totally different in atmosphere, I'm sure.

Season 4 episode 8 and 10 spoilers
Really, the way people were talking it sounded like he died in a pretty similar way in the books. I'm also disappointed that the montain is getting fixed by the Lannisters. I hope the rest of the Martells show up.
