Hello.
Welcome To The Sakuya Mod. The Mod Is Still In Progress,
So Expect Some Unfinished/Ugly Stuff.
What This Mod Does, Is That It Adds Sakuya As A Playable Character,
Usually Replacing Reimu Or Marisa.

iirc, the character expressions aren't the same format as the previous games.

Like... Starting in DDC, Sakuya has a base pose and then the expressions are pasted on top. Before, it had the base pose multiple times with the different expressions... I could be wrong though~!

So basically, you'd have to use gimp or something and resize the base and expressions to fit into the TD anm and copy/paste into the person's spot you replaced her with.

EDIT: Does going into trance crash the game when you play as Sakuya? :P

The "pasted face" trend started in MoF, iirc.
So yeah, Sakuya's face is pasted on top of a blank base one.
You have to manually edit each picture to perfection.

After a week of internet down, ive managed to fix it. some of the face are still badly positioned though.

EDIT: btw, i cant find where can i edit the spellcards.

You can put the Character Trance Sprites from Shot Type A to Shot Type B if you need.
Then just change the attack elements in Shot Type B's Trance.

In Shot Type B Sakuya (Marisa one), I could edit out the laser and put the knives in place instead if you want.
So Sakuya won't emit lasers from her cards, just knives.
In the bomb, instead of overlapping knives on Master Spark, I can edit knives in place.
The main Master Spark sprite will be removed, but the second moving sprite used can be edited with knives.
I'm afraid the hitbox can't be changed though.

By the way, nice dialogues ^^

It might surprise you, but i don't even know how i got the DDC sprites. i found all of the sprites inside my Touhou 08 Folder.
When i found it, it consists of Title Folder, Player Folder, ASCII folder, And the Face Folder.

Yep, like that ^^
There are ANM files there that says s** (s001...)
That's per stage. Stage 6 is s06, extra is s07 I think.
The dialogue files are located there.

I've tried out the LaserSaku type and realized that I never wrote a script for that one. :V But I guess it is interchangeable enough to work for both and I probably couldn't think up anything good anyway since I've used up all my ideas for the one I already made. (And that would be the third script for TD that I'd have written)

The only thing of notice would be that you should change "Reimu" to "Marisa" in the defeat-dialogue against Yuyuko and two of Miko's textboxes are going out of the screen a little bit. Cuts off about one or two letters.


Unrelated: Since we now have Knife-lasers we need a Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts remake with Sakuya as the protagonist.

I only changed every bit that says Reimu. Since both are the same characters, i feel no need for a huge change in the dialogues.  :V

I forgot to change that, as for the miko, It was really long, so something like this seems really likely to happen. going to fix that in a real jiffy.

what's Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts? it looks likes Ghosts n' Goblins.

Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts is basically the SNES version of Ghosts n' Goblins and it has upgradeable weapons of which one is the knife which turns into some kind of laser shooting knife. Sakuya's knife-laser reminded my of that.

Miko's textboxes are not too bad. As i said, only one or two letters go off-screen.

So will Remi herself travel underground? Would seem like a bad idea with Okuu around and all.

Soooo, what did i do the past two weeks?
I worked on Th 11 Sakuya mod of course.
And i also changed how the face reposition work, so it's a tad lot easier to do marisa's.

With Marisa's Dialogue Face done, the mod is almost ready for release.
Now all i need is the Character Description Background.
thpatch.net doesn't seem to have Th13 images laying around.

Story all well and planned. Only one problemo. th143 doesn't have seija capturing sprite. so each time you try to photo stuff, seija won't change sprite.  :(

Given that she is Seija after all she would oppose herself if nobody else is around to whom she could be contrary.

Would be going something like this:

Seija: "Yo Seija, making a newspaper with old cameras is way good!"

Seija: "Nah Seija, use that new stuff is much better!"

Seija: "You wanna fight, huh? Do you even flip!?"

Yer being too hard on yer self mate. and it's not really advanced coding like Lua or C++. just simple CMD.

Also, i need your opinion on this.

I'm going to change how the Dialogue face work, and I need to see if you think this one is better.

So, instead of resizing all the images, i resized the canvas, and resized the image abit.
But, this also means that it would fit less.

This is the Resizing technique I used before,
I resized the whole image, but that means that the image would be all pixelated, and looks ugly,

which one is better in your opinion?

You have to consider that it isn't all enlarged in the games.

About the method for the dialogue face:

With the one you used for the Laser-type it does look rather pixelated.
I'd personally prefer the one you used for the Homing-type / "Reimu" route.


And the little homing knives look kind of adorable.

It's not like the way the bar currently looks is bad. If there's nothing that fits well into it then it would still look well the way it is right now.
But maybe some of the red flashes of Sakuya's attacks in UNL could look nice.

I never had that much trouble with Seija's screen-flipping. Except for the upside-down one.

You'd have to disable all items 'cause Yuuka stands above the ways of a cheating Amanojaku.
But to be honest: I actually have a hard time figuring out a reason for Yuuka to just go out and beat up the lesser youkai to then provoke the others or why people would just pester her with weird spellcards.

But in the end ISC doesn't have all that much dialogue and also no "scene comments" like StB and DS had so whatever is said in-game can easily be bent to suit any character if you put some thought into it.
