Title: Gensokyo no Nazo always crashes
Post by: Tyraxx on December 30, 2013, 08:20:47 PM
Hi everybody,

I have a problem with the game "Gensokyo no Nazo", whenever I try to change the option to full screen mode and quit the option mode, the game crashes.

The game also crashes at other point of the games (more like randomly).

I already tried unchecking "read-only", but it doesn't help.

When the game crashes, does it just exit completely, or does it give out an error message? If it does give a message, could you copy/paste or take a screenshot? I haven't had this problem on my own copy, so there's not much for me to work with right now, but maybe I could figure something out.

What about the random crashes, have you noticed any sort of pattern at all with them? A certain enemy perhaps, or something else?

OK, just noticed that it is not only when I try to change to full size, but it is just that, when I exit the option mode the game crashes.
Even when I have done nothing in option mode.

I only played once the game itself, and it crashed during the battle with Rumia (Rumia's health was almost empty, I think).
Since then I haven't played tha game properly.

So here's the error message given by Vista:

What you're experiencing indicates to me that the game is unable to save some things (though it's odd that you're actually able to start a game and progress through rooms). What files did you uncheck "read-only" on? Basically, all files that the game has to write to cannot be read-only. This means the config.ini file, and everything in the "file" folder. Also, try running the game as administrator.

And while you're at it, update the game (http://spice.rash.jp/spice/gnazo.html) if you already haven't. They actually added in a warning message on the title screen for when the game can't properly save to file (though, the message is in Japanese).
