Title: Hopeless Masquerade... lost save files.
Post by: Darth_Sirov on October 16, 2013, 03:57:46 PM: I was playing HM a while ago, and then my laptop died (bad battery, instantly turned off), I reloaded the game once more, but my files are gone. Trying to get them back, but to no avail (with system restore), any other tips. Unfortunately, I haven't made any back-ups yet.

Just so you don't have to go unlocking everyone again and stuff. Then again, you might want to unlock it all again yourself, but I just thought I'd give the offer if it may help.

Anyways, hopefully someone who knows more about this type of issue happens to show up and you do get your own files back.

Edit: I know you haven't been online yet to accept or decline the offer, but I just went ahead and did it anyways just in case. The download link is below, if you want it. If not, it's still here if anyone has a similar problem, can go ahead and download it if they need it as well. What's beaten on Story Mode is Reimu/Marisa Normal, Byakuren/Ichirin/Futo/Koishi/Mamizou/Kokoro Easy, Miko All. This means every character and stage will be unlocked again for each mode which is probably the main use of this.

Just rename this here back to score.dat (I needed it's filename to not conflict with others) and throw it in your HM folder. (https://www.dropbox.com/s/l8gflff1qv0zsvc/th135_score.dat)

Post by: Necrotek on October 16, 2013, 07:50:14 PM: Pretty much sure that there is no way to restore them. It seems the laptop turned off at the moment the game was writing save data, so part of the file is messed now.

Thanks for the offer SirBlueberry, though I just restarted playing again, would like to see the 1.3 changes for myself. Just finished Lunatic for Reimu/Marisa.

Post by: Rei Scarlette on October 17, 2013, 05:04:11 AM: Most likely your spell customizations and profile weren't being read from or written to at the time, but score.dat was being read/written and so became corrupted. I honestly don't know the inner workings of the game at all, but I'd expect score.dat is being read from quite frequently to check unlocks and clears and such. This is only an assumption, of course.

Unfortunate how it is probably permanent, but at least it seems you'll be having fun with it while getting things back!
