Some long time ago (at least a year?) I decided that TD would be more fun if you weren't able to abuse trance invincibility all the time. I've worked on this on and off for a while, but finally today I put it together in a releasable form. There are a couple of improvements I still want to make, but it should be in a pretty playable form as it is.
The patcher will create a separate exe; the patched game will use a separate score file and replay folder. (Copy scoreth13.dat to scoreth13_arrange.dat if you want to keep your unlocks and stuff.)
Please go and try it out! Feedback is greatly appreciated.
edit: I just noticed the readme was wrong. I've fixed it. (You can't press the trance button to end trance, but you can bomb out of a manual trance.) That's what I get for copying and pasting from an old document. Also, I fixed some issues with the patcher itself: someone reported a missing DLL error, and I also made it accept an English-patched th13. Redownload it this affects you.

Oh wow, a modified Trance system. Should be interesting. I'll have to give this a go along with the TD Boss Rush.
I'm honestly surprised by the amount of mods to the games in recent times. Good job, various people who have done this stuff! You know who you are. ^^;

Oh hey I wonder what this does-
/me reads the readme
...Are you god. :I

Funny that I get way more enjoyment from an editted TD than the original. Great job with this.
-
This should be fun! Let's give it a spin.

Well this would have made the end of my Youmu extra stage different. I got clipped partway in Mamizou's final spell and did the entire remainder in trance (that's like half or 5/8 of the spellcard left). No invincibility would definitely have changed how that went.
-
Yeah uh this makes 10D playable. There is no question that everyone should play it.

TD: Proper Hypers Edition
Definitely replacing default TD permanently for me

Yeah, this is great. I only have two nitpicks, neither of them gameplay related:
One, it doesn't work on the English version for whatever reason (although if it's difficult to make it work for the English version, then forget I brought it up).
Two, it requires libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll, and not everyone might have that (I had to dig around to find it in another game so I could patch in the first place). It might be a good idea to include it in, although I don't know whether or not my computer is just being weird with .dll files.
Other than that, though, I like this. No more scrambling to fill up Trance right before a bunch of resources (although that still helps). I like this a lot.

But it does work on the english version and you shouldn't need gcc installed to run it, so dunno what's happening there.
What do you mean by "doesn't work" anyways?

Well, I go to open it up...

And then it gives me this:

I don't get it.
EDIT: Oh hey, I just noticed that the download link was updated. Now it works. Nevermind, then.

doesn't work
Yeah, I fixed it. See first post.

Same here. I enjoyed TD more than I ever thought I would. Thank you very much for this interesting TD modification, Nereid :)

Oh hey, it's this thing. Didn't think you were going to make an actual release of it.
-
This is really cool, it feels like it makes survival easier though, but maybe it's just because I haven't learned any good bombtrance routes in this game from before.
-
excuse my ignorance but what this patch does?

Check the readme in the first post.
Basically, it changes the game's Trance system so that it no longer makes you invincible, but in return entering Trance clears bullets and can be activated without a full meter. There's some other nifty changes as well, but those are the big ones..
