Just less than a month away now. GET HYPE
Just got the rough date for the touhou panel. It'll be on Sunday at 12 noon. (Any idea if there will be a shmup section again or do we have to hijack a room for one again :V) Also, we will have A/V! (finally)
Also, Yuu Asakawa, the voice of Luka Megurine from Vocaloid2, will be coming to AN this year \o/ (http://vocaloidotaku.net/index.php?/topic/31593-yuu-asakawa-will-be-at-canadas-anime-north-convention/)
Who else is coming this year?

>luka
a guest i actually have an inkling of interest in??!?!?
-
As much as I'd love to come, I can't afford the flight, nor can any of my friends that I'd be booking with. Unfortunately, things like "rent" and "eating something with more nutritional value than cardboard" take more priority than AN this year.
-
I was planning on going.
but the hole in my pocket said otherwise...
-
Interested? Yes, partly due to the AB specialist vendor re-stocking for AN with more Touhou goodies. But can't afford the US$700+ ticket for a flight to Toronto, and there's no way I'm taking a domestic flight then driving across the border (and waiting a crapton when re-entering US). :(
-
I'm excited. Actually going to dress up this year, as Stiyl Magnus from Toaru Majutsu no Index.
I assume a lot of people from this site who are going are will be at the Touhou panel.
I think it would interesting to meet other MotK members while I'm there.
-
I'm going as Kenstar this year
Yes I'm actually gonna cosplay this year (by request from one of my friends xD)
-
I'll be coming again this year~
-
I guess I'll be going only on the Sunday, seeing as how all the weekend passes are sold out.
Goddamn attendance cap. Should've bought a pass sooner.
-
confirmed going this year btw if it wasn't clear!!!!
-
Just realized that Nominoichi is only open on Friday, meaning that I can't pick up the CD I want.
-
I dont think I can make it this year due to summer school :x
-
>:I

I went last year, couldn't locate the touhou panel. I was sad.
-
I might have a room at the Sheraton to give away or share if any1 needs a place to stay.

I'm so lucky my summer school class is easy (so far) :V
Also, there are two touhou panels this year. One is the usual, on Sunday noon, same place as last year, but there's also a Touhou video showcase it seems. No idea what'll be played there other than MADs and maybe that Maikaze anime/Memories of a Phantasm?

I'm more into armadillos, sorry.

Forgot to mention, Touhou video showcase panel (not by me, some other person I have no idea who), is on Friday at 9pm

Then i'm afraid it won't work out between us :v

So I suppose the point is to get everyone to the video showcase so people can go 'this is interesting I wonder what this anime is" and then go to the panel on Sunday?
-
Bah. Looks like I can't make it after all. Maybe next year...

Well there's one extra point to put into the panel :V God this is even worse than I expected

If the room's the same as last year's, overcrowding will probably be an issue again.

Unfortunately it is, so all I can suggest is, please be early so you can guarantee at least a spot into the room.

Last call before i call in to cancel the room

I'll smack you with it if nothing happens that cool? :V

Dinner with MotK people was pretty awesome. Nice to see you all there.
We missed Suikama though :< should've brought a derp face in remembrance of him...

We were thinking of just getting a picture of you with a :V face :3

AN was awesome. Thanks for the good times guys.

Got the albums I wanted anyways, which was good. Overcrowding wasn't as bad this year. From what I hear, cosplay turnout was lower.
Oh well. At least we managed to 'hijack' a table.

Yeah, I also had fun playing 12.3 a bit before I left :V (I'm surprised I still have some skill in me O.O)
But yeah Touhou Panel was a huge success, this time pushing the subjects forward instead of sticking to one and missing on everything else. (And we STILL didn't get a chance to show the last video :<)
Nice to have dinner with Naut, Drake, Khoa, and others though. Really fun time with you guys. Wasn't as many Touhou cosplayers as last year though :( And yeah, at least almost everyone managed to get into the panel when they lined up. Last year we had people getting locked out because the staff was being dicks like that :<
-
Man, this weekend was fantastic. Hanging out with Naut and his friend all weekend was bitchin'. I couldn't figure out how to get out of the airport so they came to get me lol
First time being to such a humongous convention, and man the crowds and cosplay was pretty overwhelming the first day. The lineup to get our passes was a bit over two hours (hurr incompetence) and we basically just stood around pointing out cosplays.
Didn't buy nearly enough stuff (naut on the other hand bought like 500$ of silly animu dvds) and I didn't get nearly enough pictures because my camera was terrible; in retrospect even my phone would have been better. Dinner get-together was pretty sweet, getting to meet Khoa and Gpop, etc. Got my introduction to IIDX at the rhythm game room afterward and Gpop looked like he was going to die playing ITG after filling himself with ribs. I was too nervous to go up and play any though (?・ω・`)
Everyone seemed pretty tired this weekend, so unfortunately we didn't get around to much shmuppan despite the encouragement attempts of Naut and myself, but that's alright. I managed to pick up EspGaludaIIBL so that was pretty nice.
Touhou panel was pretty fun. Definitely an improvement considering what I saw of last year's, but I was pretty disappointed that there wasn't anything more than pictures of danmaku, even if 99% of the people were already familiar with the series. This is where you'd get a significant improvement if the panel were two hours, probably. I think we got everyone in the room, but really there needs to be a bigger room. Maybe more people would have come if it weren't listed in the region of the yaoi panels and such, too (which would be fixed by a room change). Anyways, Gpop half-suggested that I should be a panelist, and I'm really considering it. I did want to speak up more than I already did, but I didn't want to sound like a prude, and I figure I'd have things to contribute as a panelist. The prospect of introducing people at my local convention is also interesting too, so we'll see if that goes anywhere.
In any case, I had a great time and I fully intend to come next year.
-
I'm just wondering, what would people think if we suggested two panels next year? One for introduction (to talk about what the series really is about for the new people), and one for discussion (those really into the series already and are already familiar with it)?
-
Makes me wonder what kind of people will show up to the introductory panel.
