Title: Superb Owl XLVI - Giants at Patriots 2: Elictric Bradyloo

Have some proper attire and bacon-wrapped braised beef short ribs for dinner. Hells yes.

Fans of teams from irrelevant markets, enjoy your commercials and Cirque du Soleil halftime show. Fans of Rex Ryan, enjoy your stomach ulcer. Fans of either of the teams that's actually playing, enjoy your three-hour heart attack.

People that don't like the Superb Owl and/or don't plan on watching it, that's fantastic, and more power to you, but you don't need to post saying so, so don't bother.

I used all my nervous energy on the NFC championship, so I think I'm good with whatever happens. Go Giants.
Also, this thread title is all wordplay and my brain went :derp:

I am forced to root for the Giants on the fact that New England is not a state.

I also completely forgot about the Owl of Exceeding Quality until like thirty minutes ago.

But the Patriots winning tonight will not change the fact that they lost the perfect season back then, nor do the Patriots pretend it to be otherwise. They're way smarter than that. This is 2012, not 2008.

I'm not a true fan of any particular team over the rest, but I do enjoy football and am anxious to see what unfolds tonight. Super Bowl XLII will always be a tough act to follow, but I think both sides will step up big. I'm rooting for the G-men more because I'm tired of seeing the same AFC teams get into the Super Bowl year after year. By contrast, the Giants are the only NFC team in the last decade to make repeat appearances. Not to diminish Tom Brady's achievements of course, especially if he wins again. He already might as well be considered the Chosen One of pro football, and he can certainly cement that tonight.

Boringbowl 2012 <_<

This was actually my least favorite potential matchup in every playoff scenario.  Therefore, I hope the Pats win solely so the Giants can go back to being mediocre forever.

Edit:

I am forced to root for the Giants on the fact that New England is not a state.

But the Giants don't actually play in New York.

What! Reveal this to me!

That is the logo of the New York Giants.  Note the large "NY".

This is a link to MetLife Stadium, where the New York Giants play football. (http://maps.google.com/maps?rls=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=3093l4811l0l4827l15l3l0l0l0l0l0l0ll0l0&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=metlife+stadium&fb=1&gl=us&hq=metlife+stadium&cid=0,0,12599238873492438299&ei=7-YuT_n5J8yEtgebufzRDw&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&ved=0CCMQ_BI)

Please note the specific location where this stadium is located - it is in New Jersey!  This can be seen by zooming out.

At least the Patriots actually play in New England.

Other side of the river, so NJ all the way! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Giants_Stadium)

Of course, this means I live within 10 miles of Giants Stadium when the Super Bowl's there in 20.......15?
So yeah it's pretty crazy with hometown pride over here.

Patriots got completely outplayed that half and are still up 1. I'll take that.

See what I mean by Brady being the Chosen One? :V As long as the finish is reasonably close though, I think I'll still be happy with either outcome.

Same here. But I don't really care who wins as long as the game is interesting, which it is.

Better save up cheering energy for UEFA instead :V

Now that was the kind of play I expected to see from two Super Bowl teams. Congrats to the Giants! I'd say any doubt left over about Eli's skill just vanished. Admittedly Bradshaw didn't exactly help at the end of the drive (aside from the obvious score to put them ahead), but hey, it's one of those things that only brings shame when it backfires hard, and is generally forgotten when it doesn't.

[22:01:17] <Kilgamyon> Just when I think watching that loss can't get worse: I had the Giants 2/Patriots 7 square in the office pool. Missed it by a minute and a half in the third quarter, would have had it if the Giants had kicked the PAT on the last touchdown in the fourth quarter.
[22:01:21] <Kilgamyon> Insult to injury.

The Pats sidelines after the Wes Welker drop was the best part. Haters gonna hate :V.
I also feel sorry for you Kilga, no reason for Coughlin to call for two after the Bradshaw TD. I thought he should've kicked the PAT and went to pin the Pats deep, Steve Weatherford was money all day.

I guess I could say a lot, but outside of the tight score I didn't find the game real interesting. The longest play was for 30-some yards. The two fumbles that I remember were both recovered. The interception came on a horrible pass play. Dropped balls by the dozens. No (good) arguable calls. A plodding offense on both sides with no great stops for either. Lots of 11 yard passes and 3 yard runs. It just felt devoid of all the big plays that go into a big game.
New England is not a state.
Weeeell, let's take a step back and analyze things for a moment. My impression of New Hampshire is that it consists of Stuffman, his sandwiches, and a few places to go skiing. Maine consists of the two settlements along the southern coast and all those remote places where Stephen King novels take place. Vermont consists of a Ben & Jerry's joint, but there are more crystallized maple syrup sculptures of people than actual people. The rest of these states are actually part of Canada. It doesn't help that the entirety of Connecticut is technically a wealthy New York neighborhood plus UCONN, and Rhode Island is a state in the same sense that Guam is. All in all, there's not much to each state save for Massachusetts, which is small for a state anyway, so we've practically annexed the aforementioned parts of the other states that aren't New York or Canada Jr.

This. Too many misses from both teams, but goddamn Patriots was horrible in general.

Grats to Giants though.

I would agree with your analysis, Reddy, but there is one flaw in it. Rhode Island is also the center of evil within the universe as we perceive it, which H.P. Lovecraft has revealed to us. I would argue this makes it distinctive entity.

You know, it's funny that I remember recently seeing that the WR is actually one of the least important positions on the field, not necessarily due to its own uselessness but because of the huge importance placed everywhere else. And yet...

- Falcons: lolfalcons
- Packers: Dropsies all over the place
- 49ers: Not a good WR corps overall, also Kyle Williams
- Patriots: 4th quarter dropsies

- Giants: Solid reliable corps, always did their jobs, made big plays when they needed to

Hmmm.
