I'm in ur forums, hijacking ur threads.
The current question is
What is your favorite Extra Boss theme?
-
Grimoire of Alice.
Followed closely by Hartmann and Heian Alien.
-
Probably Heian Alien or Hartmann's Youkai Girl.
Honorable mentions go to Grimoire of Alice and Immortal Smoke.
-
Necro Fantasy, followed by Grimoire of Alice and Immortal Smoke.
-
Immortal Smoke, followed closely by Grimoire of Alice.
-
Like I said earlier, I hate pretty much all extra themes.
-
Native Faith. I lurve mah Suwako.
-
Broken Strawberry Shortcake
The Witch's Ball ~ Magus
Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly ~ Ancients
Grimoire of Alice
Like I said earlier, I hate pretty much all extra themes.
Wat?
-
Wat?
U.N. Owen Was Her? - I listened to McRoll so much back when I was less educated about the internet that I hate this song.
Necrofantasia/Necrofantasy - Used to like it, but listened to it to much and now it isn't all that good.
Reach for the moon, Immortal smoke - All Piano meh :/
Native Faith - See above
Hartmann's Youkai Girl - I hate all of the SA extra stage... It's a really gloomy song.
Heian Alien - It resembles UN Owen too much. But it has one really cool part. So I guess I like it
My <3 belongs to Dichromatic Butterfly and Witches Ball
and I don't listen to PC-98 much. If you tell me Grimoire of Alice, I hate all PC-98 themes related to her, sorry. :V
-
Sneak Attack!
Illusion of a Maid.
-
Sneak Attack!
From Baity? Durr, no way! :V
Anyway, I can't edit the OP, so I guess the list will be kept here. That said, another question!
What is your favorite Stage 1 Spell Card?
I have to go with Kisume's card, "Horror 'Well-bucket-dropping Monster", for BUCKET LAZORS and for not sucking entirely.

"Gold Detector" wooooo!!!
I like the odd curvature of the bullets.
-
umm...Kisume's. It's the only one I remember that doesn't piss me off everytime I play it
-
I'll go with Letty's Mystic Sign [table Turning], her final spellcard on Lunatic. Not because it's fun to play or anything but because the bullets she makes just have the loveliest shade of blue I've ever seen.
As for favorite midspells, Yamame's last midspell is ridiculously fun on Lunatic if you do the supergrazing technique for it.
-
Busy Rod. No contest here. Gold Detector takes second place.
-
They're all kinda forgettable tbh. I guess I'll go with Frost Columns just because it's fun to graze.
Also,
Broken Strawberry Shortcake
Oh crap I totally forgot about that one. HM's and all that.
-
Favorite stage 1 spellcard? Meh... I'll go with Frost Columns. For some reason, stage 1 seems a bit more fun when that card is there~
-
I guess I'm gonna go with Night Sign "Night Bird". Not because it's terribly fun or anything, but I just love the "wing flapping" effect it does.
-
Busy. Rod.
-
Autumn Sky and a Maiden's Heart.
I don't know, first stage 1 spellcard I thought of. :V
-
Yamame's first spell card "Cave-Spider's Nest." Just simple fun random dodging.
-
(http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/7574/th101a.jpg)
Straightforward basic dodging, while also being aesthetically charming. Honourable mentions to Spider "Cave Spider's Nest", Rod Sign "Busy Rod" and Defense Sign "Pendulum Guard".
-
Gota go with Gold Detector. Why? I dunno, it was the first one that I recalled.
-
Like all "favourite SC" questions, my answer will always be "whatever I can dodge".
-
Letty's final is pretty sweet, but there are just too many to make a good decision without seeing them all right now.
-
I have to go with Kisume's card, "Horror 'Well-bucket-dropping Monster", for BUCKET LAZORS and for not sucking entirely.
This.
-
Winter Sign "Flower Wither Away". I really like the pattern that it forms.
-
Whatever, as long as cute girls are involved! :V
Okay, that's a pretty difficult question. Usually S1 cards are really easy. The hardest would be Nazrin's last on Hard mode (harder than lunatic to me.) but that's not really any fun.
I suppose its got to be Yamame's first or "Falling Leaves of Madness". Of course all of them Lunatic version or they're not fun. Timing out those cards were entertaining.
-
Gold Detector
-
Vision Sign "High Sensitivity Nazrin Pendulum"
:)
-
Have to go with Wriggle's Firefly Sign: Comet on Earth. Love that shot-wriggling action ;)
-
why if it isn't the spell I've faced most in my life Shizuha's "Falling Leaves of Madness"
-
Flower Wither Away. Such a lovely card.
-
fallingleavesofmadness.jpg
"Falling Leaves of Madness"
why if it isn't the spell I've faced most in my life Shizuha's "Falling Leaves of Madness"
All of you must die.
-
Nazrin's Defense Sign "Pendulum Guard". Its so pretty... *clipdeath* GOD DAMMIT
even though its harder on Hard then Lunatic
-
Autumn Sky.
I think it's because the music is so fun and happy it's like YAY LET'S DANMAKU AUTUMN LEAFY CIRCLE DANCE :V
(also on easy mode because I am terrible I will admit this)
-
And again!
What is your favorite ending theme?
This one goes to The Earth Spirits' Homecoming, from SA. One of ZUN's most relaxed tracks. It sounds...not happy, but...content.
-
Um... Forgot the name actually, but MoF's.
-
Forest of Tohno. Yeah, the one from SoEW. For some reason I adore the simple, lonely feel of this theme. It's fitting because even though Reimu has won, she has nobody to celebrate it with, because even her best friend isn't her friend yet. Honorable mentions go to Shinto Shrine (MS bad ending theme), Darkening Dusk (SWR ending theme) and Youkai Temple (UFO ending theme).
-
And here comes that sense of deja-vu again. :V
My first choice would be Herselves, of course. But since that seems like a bit of a cop-out (if you didn't know, SG's ending goes straight to the credits without break), I'll instead choose MS's extra ending theme. Why? Because as far as I remember, it's the only video game theme in any of ZUN's game that's completely in a major key. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
Oh, it's actually Mima's extra ending theme now that I think of it.
-
Peaceful Romancer.
Why? Because it has a rather "wow" sense of accomplishment.
-
Peaceful
Romancer
-
Doesn't even need considering - PCB's Sakura, Sakura. Such a mix of emotions especially after the final battle with Yuyuko.
-
He's asking for the Ending theme guys, not the credits theme. We already did that one, didn't we?
-
Doesn't even need considering - PCB's Sakura, Sakura. Such a mix of emotions especially after the final battle with Yuyuko.
Actually, by ending theme, he's referring to the theme that plays during the ending scene, not the actual credits. But yes, Sakura, Sakura is awesome~
-
Shrine at the Foot of the Mountain.
Honorable mention (again!) to Love of Magical Chimes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPg0qP7y5DA) which is actually my favourite, though arguably not exactly an "ending theme" - even more considering you also hear it before the final stage. But it is the lingering sound of beating Yumemi.
-
He's asking for the Ending theme guys, not the credits theme. We already did that one, didn't we?
DURRRRR
So yeah. Changing to Eastern Blue Sky.
-
I don't remember any of them =(
-
^this

There are ending themes? :V
-
The Earth Spirits' Homecoming
-
The Earth Spirits' Homecoming
Seconded.

You mean with the drawing and white background? I hate all of them, I try to skip through them as fast as possible cause they don't interest me at all. Some of them can't be fast forwarded with CTRL >.<
-

Sounds like someone needs to listen to them again...
I'd post them now, but I simply don't have the time; I'm already running late.
Also, Baity, you know what you must do.
-
There are ending themes? :V
-
Crimson Beyond a Fleeting Eternity (EoSD). Most of the others are entirely forgettable.
-
HOLD CTRL, SAVE REPLAY, GRAB A BEER.
-
There are ending themes? :V
-
I suppose I could track them down and marathon all of them in the spot, but they are usually unimpressive enough to be forgettable, which is one the reasons why I couldn't remember any of them in the first place. >_>
-
Geez people, even if you don't clear often, the few times you do clear should etch them deeper into your memory. >_>
Though I have to admit EoSD-IN have pretty tame ending themes. PC-98 is where it's at.
-
PC-98 is where it's at.
This.
Since I'm heading off to America very soon (I'll probably make a separate thread for this when I get there), I'm going to put up the question much earlier than usual. It's either that, or trying to connect to the internet 2-3 hours into my flight. And I'm pretty sure we all know how effective that is.
What is your favorite Final Boss Attack?
Note that I said "Attack". This is to cater for the PC-98 games as well. For the Windows games, the question being asked is something along the lines of "What is your favorite Final Spell Card?"
Going to quickly shove my answer out; believe it (hurr) or not my favorite is actually Mima's Final Attack from SoEW. Cheap bullets or not, it's a really fun (http://dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Fun) attack.
I'm so sorry about that; I actually got hooked onto Dwarf Fortress recently, so yeah
.
-
There's cheap, and then there is stupid. >_>
Anyway, Yuka's would win for sheer "WTF" factor, but I'll have to go with Scarlet Gensokyo. VoWG is great too, but Scarlet Gensokyo's pure dodging is too much to pass up.
-
Astronomical Entombing, no destroying familiars.
Pure dodging, no walls.
-
VoWG
-
Resurrection Butterfly. Seriously, how is there any other answer? It's a survival card with its own, separate, amazing theme. How can there be anything more awesome than that? Especially since surviving it means you'll get to hear Sakura, Sakura~
.... <_< >_> *shot*
-
Hm. VoWG has that feel of a truly final spellcard like no other card in the series. I'll go with that. Plus it's pretty fun to play against. Honorable mention to Scarlet Gensokyo; no luck, pure skill.
Flying Fantastica is really damn pretty though :V
-
Resurrection Butterfly
Runner up goes to Hell's Artificial Sun, but it's just a bit boring on easy but I'm too terrible to clear for anything harder than that :'(
-
For epicness factor, Resurrection Butterfly wins. For dodging factor, VoWG wins with Gensokyo very close behind.
-
Mima's last phase. It's quite, well, exciting for me.
-
VoWG with whatever percentage reflowering coming in close 2nd
-
I'm gonna be unoriginal and go with VoWG. Nothing else in Touhou gives me quite the same rush as successfully micrododging through the walls unfocused... very, very risky, but without any luck involved at the same time. :V
-
Mima Bodyslam
VoWG. It is just too awesome.
HMs go to LFO for being almost as awesome and to Ressurection Butterfly/Hourai Elixir for having their very own themes which match the cards perfectly, even though only the last third of HE is actually interesting danmaku-wise.
-
"End of Imperishable Night -Rising World-"
HM to "Resurection Butterfly" and VoWG.
-
Resurrection Butterfly.
-
Honorable mention to Scarlet Gensokyo; no luck, pure skill.
On the contrary, I believe Scarlet Gensokyo is the most luck-based final card in the series for two reasons:
Remi's random movement (meaning she can randomly decide to fly all the way to the left when you're all the way to the right and dodge your shots, where Resurrection Butterfly is a timeout and Astronomical Entombing/Hourai Jewel/VoWG/Subterranean Sun/LFO all involve stationary bosses).
and this:
The above image is taken from GIL's legendary run of EoSD, with all spell cards captured except for Scarlet Gensokyo. Look inside the yellow box and tell me with a straight face that that wasn't shit luck conspiring against GIL to stop him from capturing every spell card in the game.
In any case, my vote goes to LFO (or LFS, or whatever the hell it's actually called). VoWG is my favorite in terms of raw fun, but LFO wins out with creativity.
-
Scarlet Gensokyo
For some reason, I've almost captured it on my second attempt ever - but I was pretty much denied a capture thanks to a BS wall.
Then the next attempt(on Hard this time), I took the timer all the way down to 33 before beating her. ReimuB, full power, focused.
-
If we leave out Extra final attacks, Scarlet Gensokyo is probably the only final pattern in the Windows Series that has any luck-factor to it at all. Of course, it's fun enough that I can sort of forgive it. :V
-
Look inside the yellow box and tell me with a straight face that that wasn't shit luck conspiring against GIL to stop him from capturing every spell card in the game.
It wasn't shit luck. Look closer, and you'll see an opening right above him. It's amusing that everyone takes GIL's run as a testament that Scarlet Gensokyo is BS. Look closer at the video. GIL wasn't walled at all; he moved too far to the left and clipdeathed. There was an entirely usable opening, and I can say that I've gotten through smaller on Vampire Illusion.
-
I should probably clarify: it's not an entirely bs wall, but it's still a very significantly more dense wave than what SG will throw on average. A wave of this density isn't as much of a problem for the other final cards, because they all follow some very readable pattern that, if understood well enough, will result in you pulling out some muscle-memorized motion to get you through that dense wall. SG doesn't follow such a readable pattern, and so if something like this comes up, you have to decide how to dodge it on the fly. You have a small moment to find that random hole in that random wave and fit yourself through it.
Maybe the wave I pulled from GIL's run isn't the best example out there to say that SG can be luck-garbage at times, but let me put it this way. If I took random screenshots of SG, I might get something like that, I might get something nicer, or I might get something that is pure unarguable batshit. If I took random screenshots of any other final card, they would tend to look about the same (provided you don't try comparing screenshots of, say, LFO when it starts versus when it ends, or Hourai Jewel with someone using clean streaming versus someone who's flying around like Aya on speed).
Also, don't think that I'm using this to say that SG is a bs card and that I hate it like someone who beat my dog to death. It's a legitimate final test of your skill to see if you're worthy of clearing EoSD, and I have nothing against it. But to say that absolutely zero luck factor is involved is what I'm debating against.
-
(http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/5164/gilj.png)
Bad images gotten from the Youtube vid. First is at death, second is after death. I should just fire up EoSD, but whatever.
4:03
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5R9hoRdLabk
So I'm pretty sure GIL clipped something by accident, but that's a pretty shit wall.
Oh, and Marisa is on the left side of the images btw.
-
On the contrary, I believe Scarlet Gensokyo is the most luck-based final card in the series for two reasons
[wordswordswords]
Well, damn, I've never had that problem. I've always thought SG was one of the most fun cards in the series. 'course, I can only play on Hard, haven't gotten up to Lunatic yet, so I can't speak for Lunatic SG, but the Hard version's always just been really fun for me.
Scarlet Meister, though...
-
VoWG because
I love VoWG
*has a love and hate relationship* :V
-
Scarlet Gensokyo Hard is easier then Red Magic.
-
Tough one. Has to be either "End of Imperishable Night: Dawn", "Hell's Artificial Sun", or "Resurrection Butterfly".
-
Scarlet Gensokyo Hard is easier then Red Magic.
Quoted for truth
And I'll have to go with Yuka's final phase. If only there wasn't a bullet limit making gaps three times as big as they should be and STILL being incredibly small
-
Remilia's final attack has always seemed incredibly cruel to me. It's as if she's saying "Screw you Reimu, take this shitty wall of doom!"
Yeah, going with Red Magic/Scarlet Gensokyo.
-
VoWG for fun. Resurrection Butterfly/Hourai Elixir for atmosphere.
-
VoWG & Hourai Elixir
-
Like all "favourite SC/attack" questions, my answer will always be "whatever I can dodge".
-
Quoted for truth

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRM0FSR20t4
You think those are three times as big as they should be? o_O
-
I'll go with... uh.... Testing "Goliath Doll" from Cirno's scenario in Hisoutensoku :V
Hurray for giant doll
-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SRM0FSR20t4
You think those are three times as big as they should be? o_O
After watching the video, I'm pretty sure at least 4 of the 8 gaps he dodged in would have had a bullet in them if they hadn't failed to spawn. Its hard to tell because I don't know if each wave is the same, or if they alternate between two+ kinds of waves; with so many missing bullets in an attack with extremely similar waves, its nearly impossible to tell. The "three times as big" would be because since the gaps are practically bullet sized sometimes, a missing bullet adds both its own space and the empty area around it.
I sometimes wonder if that attack was meant to have bigger spaces from missing bullets. Seriously, what the hell ZUN D:
Its still a completely batshit attack though, and the video is still amazing. Its interesting how most of Stage 6 Yuka's attacks are either fairly easy or extremely difficult.
-
It's funny how you say they "failed to spawn" because the attack is static. :V
-
It's funny how you say they "failed to spawn" because the attack is static. :V
Well they just fail to spawn in the same place every time D=
It happens with lots of spellcards, like Sanae's midboss card Esoterica "Secretly Inherited Art of Danmaku". After the first wave, there are giant sections of star missing. And since its static, then theoretically the same bullets will fail to spawn each time you encounter the card, unless you bomb or somesuch, which would reduce the number of onscreen bullets.
-
I doubt ZUN is so incompetent as to make such a mistake. I think it's much more logical to assume the attack was designed that way.
-
Man, this one's pretty tough...
I have to go with VoWG because it's just too much damn FUN, but Remilia's last two cards and Resurrection Butterfly want places, as do Shinki's Recitation of Doom (Byakuren is a poor imitator) and Cheeto Lasers (DANCE, PLAYER, DANCE!).
-
Yuyuko's "Cherry Blossom Sign "Perfect Cherry Blossom of Sumizome -Bloom-" ". My favorite spell card in Touhou, period.
-
SoEW Mima Pandemonium in IaMP, I suppose. It's a shitfest, but it's still easy enough for it to not end lunatic 1ccs. :V
-
Oh, wait, does StB EX-8 count? Last spellcard in the game, Suika's STG version of Pandemonium? If so, I'm changing my vote to that.
EX-8 is the only most fun I've ever had in StB.
-
Augh, late much.
What is your favorite theme from Immaterial and Missing Power?
This I have little hesitation in handing to Demystify Feast.
-
I absolutely love the IaMP arrange of Septette for the Dead Princess. I'm going with that.
-
Easily Demystify Feast.
IaMP was pretty good at having a lot of subpar tracks (not to say there weren't good ones, such as Maiden's Capriccio, Witches' Dance, Evening Star, Fairy Land, etc)
-
Septette for The Dead Princess
-
Hm... Probably Border of Life.
-
There sure is a lot of WRONG in this thread.
Missing Power is the only right answer.
-
If we mean songs in general, Broken Moon easily.
If we mean character themes, then Maiden's Capriccio, just as easily.
-
Missing Power is the only right answer.
For second place.
Don't get me wrong, I love Missing Power, but it just doesn't match up to Demystify Feast. To quote myself in another topic:
Demystify Feast. For all the power released in this song, nearly the entirety of it is nothing but an intro, both to the final, EPIC piano, and to the feast as a whole. It fits IaMP perfectly, it fits Touhou perfectly, and it fits into any top 10 list with ease.
-
Missing Power is the only right answer.
-
Septette for the Dead Princess (better than the original) and Memory of Forgathering Dream (best title screen theme).
-
Missing Power is the only right answer.
...though the soundtrack is really good overall. Demystify Feast and Voile get honourable mentions.
Septet would be much more awesome if it had kept the inside the loop instead of descending into repeating the chorus and guitar solo ad nauseam...
-
Most of IaMP's soundtrack is terrible aside from a few songs. I'm going with Broken Moon.
Honorable mention to Night Falls ~ Evening Star.
-
Title theme(Broken Moon too)
Demystify Feast
-
Septette for the Dead Princess
-
Voile Magic Library.
Honorable mentions to Septette and Doll Judgement.
-
Missing Power, followed by Evening Star and Septette for the Dead Princess.
-
Missing Power and Broken Moon. 8)
-
Most of IaMP's soundtrack is terrible aside from a few songs.
NO U!
-
NO U!
As much as I like IaMP, Serafie's completely right.
Fortunately, BGMchanger, etc.
-
Maidens Capriccio
Best version of the song if you ask me.
-
Missing Power!
-
Getting sloppy.
What is your favorite Stage 5 Theme?
Once again I give this to Lullaby of Demonic Hell, no question. Strong second is MoF's Primal Scene. HMs to EoSD, PCB and MS.
-
There's a lot of great stage 5 themes, but my vote has to go to The Last Judgement. Honorable mentions go to Sealing of an Oriental Demon (when SoEW's music gets good, it gets GOOD), Primal Scene, and Cinderella Cage.
-
Well this is a hard one... but I'd say Cinderella Cage definitely takes it for me.
-
Cinderella Cage
-
Lullaby of Deserted Hell, with HMs to Rural Makai City Esoteria and Cinderella Cage. Stage 5 themes are generally pretty good.
-
Stage 5 themes are generally pretty good.
This. Though, oddly, Cinderella Cage is the only one I really didn't care for...
-
Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple
Nothing else even comes close.
-
Primal Scene of Japan the Girl Watched. Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple comes in second
-
Kagome Kagome uber alles o/
-
Errr, whatever that SoEW Stage 5 theme is called. Although, since its SoEW's final stage, its kinda different from a Stage 5 but whatever. Also why is the theme long when the stage lasts like 10 seconds? Not that I'm complaining.
Honorable mentions go to Sealing of an Oriental Demon (when SoEW's music gets good, it gets GOOD)
Oh, so that is what its called then~
HM to Lotus Love, Cinderella Cage, and The Japanese Wilderness the Girl Watched.
-
Sorry about my last post, i'll pay more attention from now on :P
But, in this case, defiantly Cinderella Cage - Kagome-Kagome
-
Lullaby of Deserted Hell, Cinderella Cage ~ Kagome-Kagome
-
The Primal Scene of Japan the Girl Watched - MoF Stage 5
Beautiful. And it leads up to my favorite song in the series, Faith is for Transient People! <3
-
Ah shit I missed yesterday's question ;_;
For the Immaterial question, I say Voile. God I love that arrange.
For today's question, I say Cinderella Cage. God that beautiful piano intro.
-
Rural Makai City Esoteria
good thing too because I hear it so often when playing UFO
-
Higan Retour ~ Riverside View.
>_>
-
KILGA THAT IS A STAGE 8 THEME, IT DOESN'T COUNT
On a completely unrelated note, I pick Sailor of Time.
-
Rural Makai City Esoteria
-
Rural Makai City Esoteria
good thing too because I hear it so often when playing UFO
Changing my vote to this, completely forgot about UFO for some reason.
-
I agree with Donut completely on songs, but not the order. :P
WINNER
The Primal Scene of Japan The Girl Watched
HM (in order)
Record of the Sealing of an Oriental Demon
Kagome Kagome
The Last Judgement (sorry, too short of a main theme that repeats constantly. Best chorus though)
-
Higan Retour ~ Riverside View.
>_>
This :V Honorable mentions to Lullaby of Deserted Hell, and Maid and the Pocket Watch of Blood
-
Cinderella Cage. No contest here, which is surprising seeing as stage 5 themes are the best of the bunch by a wide margin.
and seeing as I don't like IN that much
Lotus Love takes second place. Honorable mention to Mystic Oriental Dream and Rural Makai City Esoteria.
-
Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Ancient Temple
-
Probably either Cinderella Cage, Rural Makai City Esoterica, or Mystic Oriental Dream ~ Anchient Temple.
Stage 5 has always had great themes (or at least for the Windows games... I honestly don't like the PC-98 ones too much aside from The Last Judgement).
-
And again!
What is your favorite non-Touhou ZUN composition?
Yes, it's in direct violation of the topic name. No, I don't care.
I think I'm going to hand this one, once again, to The Witches' Ball ~ Magus, though Antique Terror (the stage 6 theme from Shuuso Gyoku) is also amazing.
-
Dichromatic Butterfly ~ Ancients
-
A Drunkard's Lemuria. By far.
-
Guess that discounts the music CDs...
I'll have to go with Magical Girls Crusade. Even if Dichromatic Butterfly and The Witch's Ball are technically Seihou songs, they belong to Touhou characters cameoing.
-
Um... Magus I guess. Honorable mention to G-Free if that counts?
-
Magical Girls' Crusade. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP1J3HM1JKM)
I don't know how to express just how deep my fanboyism for this song runs. Even Magus and Ancients can't hold a candle to it. If you can listen to this song and not tell me that it exemplifies everything about ZUN's songwriting that makes him great, then, well... I guess my opinion differs from yours. :V
And hopefully that should be the last time I hijack this thread with any more Seihou. Well, unless you ask for favorite playable character, in which case I can make no promises.
-
Magical Girls Crusade, Innocent Treasures, Enigmatic Doll (God Knows), Magical Astronomy, Forest of Dolls, Legend of Hourai, Fairy of Flower,Flower of Japan.
my state of mood change the places of this songs, but are my very most favs (but im a big fan of all songs)
-
Speaking of which, we probably should ask of the music CDs at some point. Though the only one I've listened to in full is Dolls in Pseudo Paradise...
Hey Azinth, you have any idea if there's a video or MP3 or whatever of Magical Girl's Crusade as heard in this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sqGqy7YjyRA&fmt=18) video? It annoys me that there's so many different sound software versions around, but none simply have the midi version, especially since that's my favorite (my sound in SG is still messed up).
-

I don't know of any offhand, though I really haven't looked around that much.
-
The Witches Ball ~ Magus. If the CDs count though, then Greenwich in the Sky hands-down.
-
The Witches' Ball ~ Magus.
Like, was this supposed to be hard?
Honorable mentions go to Mary, the Magician and Greenwich in the Sky.
-
Considering that The Witches' Ball ~ Magus is the only non-Touhou song I know from ZUN... I think my vote is obvious.
-
Magical Girls' Crusade. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xP1J3HM1JKM)
Going with this on the basis that I knew the track despite not having played Seihou before. Turns out I had a remix of it stashed away somewhere.
-
lol i thought you said non-ZUN Touhou composition
-
Yeah well, i'd say that final boss theme or Stage 5 boss theme from Shuusou Gyuko.
-
ZUN has non-touhou compositions? ???
-
A Drunkard's Lemuria. By far.
-
Witch's Ball~
EDIT: Listened to Magical Girls' Crusade, I'm changing my vote to that :V
-
Pretty much all the originals on his Magical Astronomy CD. Magical Astronomy itself and G Free being particularly notable, but Future Universe of Wheelchair and stuff are also awesome (and the names are pretty awesome, too =B).
-
Satellite Cafe's Terrace wins by a mile.
-
Darn do I have to choose only one? Let me list all that I like first x.x
Illusionary Sputnik Night
Girl's Divinity ~ Pandora's Box
The Witches' Ball ~ Magus
Lovely Mound of Cherry Blossoms ~ Flower of Japan
Kid's Festival ~ Innocent Treasures
Hiroshige No.36 ~ Neo Super-Express
Greenwich in the Sky
G Free
Hmm....
I'll probably narrow it down to The Witches' Ball ~ Magus and Flower of Japan :x
-
I would say Greenwich, but the albums ARE touhou related.
So I'll say Magus for now.
-
MOAR!
Who is your favorite new character from UFO?
I'm'a go with Kogasa.
Booo~
-
Byaku~ <3
-
If Unzan doesn't count, Captain Murasa Minamitsu.
-
I'mma have to go with Kogasa. Syou and Byakuren (not to mention UNZAN) are all pretty cool though.
-
I nominate Nue for Best Design.
-
Kogasa and Nazrin.
-
Ichirin Kumoi. As if this was supposed to be a hard question.
-
Byakuren
-
Kogasa.
Unfortunatly, I can't consider Nue yet, because I STILL can't 1cc the game on normal. It would probably still be Kogasa anyway.
-
MANLY SIGN "HEAVENLY BROFIST"
-
Best UFO girl? Ohh.... i'm betting for Nue.
-
Nue <3
Murasa is close 2nd.
-
Kogasa for sure.
I really love all the of new characters though, except maybe Shou.
-
Should be obvious, eh?
-
Nue.
I also like Byakuren and Kogasa's desu too.
-
(http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/5951/260498.png)
Nue > Kogasa > ______
-
Cap'n Murasa!
Followed closely by Shou.
-
Nue.
The only other one I liked was Byakuren, and that only lasted until I actually fought her.
-
...well I never really thought about it.
Actually, now that I do, I'm going with Nazrin, followed by a three way tie with Nue, Byakuren, and Kogasa.
But definitely Nazrin <3
-
Nazrin and Byakuren.
Nue gets honorable mention.
-
Kogasa :3
I think in theory I'd like Byakuren, I sure like her outfit but I have a funny feeling if I ever actually get to her I will change my mind mighty fast let me tell you.
-
Kogasa and Byakuren and Nue, equally.
-
Ichirin Kumoi. As if this was supposed to be a hard question.
-
Byakuren!
-
Byakuren and Nue
-
Nazrin and Byakuren.
Nue gets honorable mention.
-
Nue. Of course, this decision is 99% based on the socks.
-
Nue. Of course, this decision is 99% based on the socks.
What's the other 1%?
-
Oh right.
Kogasa wins in every way.
-
Dragon Age is eating all my Touhou time, wheeee~
Who is your favorite Touhou character?
Anyone goes! This one's easy for me; Sakuya has pretty much always been top of the list (Luna Dial is in no small part responsible for this). Massive HMs to Mokou, Youmu and Koishi.
-
I've got a +10-way tie here :c
To keep it simple though, I'll leave it at Patchouli.
-
So hard to choose... Byakuren, Marisa, or Remi... I can't decide... They're all too awesome...
On a side note, it's amazing how the same three characters I have a tie on also happen to have themes which I have a three-way tie between :V Byakuren and Cosmic Mind, Remi and Septette, Marisa and Casket of Star. It's amazing how awesome characters have awesome themes, isn't it~?
-
It's a tie between Yukari and Gengetu. At one point I put Yukari above Gengetu, but that's no longer possible, because they're both wub. <3
-
Yumemi. No bloody ties.
-
Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice Alice
ALICE
Though a Reimu or Mokou is fine too.
-
Ah... The unending war in my head over this... The eternal loli Remilia? Nitori or Alice?
But no, my final decision just has to be Suwako.
-
I lurves my Suwako
Second place goes to everyone else
-
Ayayayayayayaya
-
Oh gawd... this is a hard decision.
...I think I'll go with Parsee Mizuhashi on this one.
-
Mokou
-
Sanae
-
O, the world of dharma is filled with light~
Second and third go to Yumemi and Sikieiki, respectively.
-
Native Faith.. at least at the moment.
-
THE STRONGEST
And a little bit of Flandre.
-
If you don't know who my favourite character is I should rape you so hard that your ass will be another grand canyon.
Second used to be Satori, but then Toyo <3 <3 <3.
-
(http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/7118/3468.jpg)
After careful consideration of the available evidence, I find in favour of Kanako.
Nue gets an HM subject to her not sucking in doujins.
-
Nue gets an HM subject to her not sucking in doujins.
No, the others suck on her :V
-
Satori with Yukari slightly behind :V
-
Awwwno, hardest question ever as I like almost everyone~ D:
I'll have to give Patchouli my chair for most favorite...
... erm, Yuyuko-sama, since when did you sit on that chair? I haven't decided yet. Reimu is not going to like this and... Luna Child? I get it, you're helping Marisa steal boo... Wha- you say it's for Renko? Eh, go a head then... wait, how did--- nevermind, I'll be Kanako's toast if I complain.
... eh, I messed up. Keine, favor, if you could hide this mess of a history... There, Imma let Patchouli sit now... wait, what? You need no chair?
To sort it a little, I go back one day and give Nazrin>Shou>Byakuren (disregard Nazrin for new character in UFO)... though they're a little around rank 30's... or 40's... or even distributed on the range of 20-60 out of the lots of characters.
... eh, I'm screwed ._. * faints *
-
This is a question which I could never answer and not have regrets over my decision.
-
Ichirin~
Honorable mention to Koishi, Byakuren, Koakuma, and Momiji~
-
Wriggle, with honorable mentions to Cirno, Mokou, Nitori, Rin, Utsuho, Byakuren, and Nue.
But don't think I had problems picking a favorite. <3 Wriggle~
-
Tie between Cirno and Hong Meiling, which sucks because fandom tends to treat the two of them as complete dipshit butt monkeys.
HMs to Shikieiki, Parsee, Youmu, and Suika.
-
This is a question which I could never answer and not have regrets over my decision.
This
-
Childlike. Wise. Badass. Awesome. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IV8CJ8qSc-k)
Though Satori comes in as a close second. After that, the waters start to muddy already...
-
I LUV THEM ALL exept Sanae and Alice but tshhh !
Can't really choose...
HO !
YUUUUKAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
-
Pretty much these:
http://touhou.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Characters
-
Nue, unpredictably enough. :V Remilia as a close second.
-
This question is impossible for me to answer kthnxbai
But it would include Kogasa Alice Sanae Cirno Alice Patchouli Suwako Marisa etc. depending on my mood.
-
Yuka, Komachi, Reimu. Youmu and Yukari were also at the top of the list for a long time.
-
Like others said, it can fluctuate weekly and also depends on how angry I am at a particular game/stage at the moment. But for basically ever, Eirin's been in my top 5 so I'm going to go with that.
-
Marisa and Raymoo. lolmaincharacters.
-
tl;dr
Feeling sick, uncreative, and still somehow participating by adding your weekly question. I don't care if I'm an hour early, I need to kinda disappear now. Note that my sister will be "browsing" Slaves' Ijiyatsu art (since she seemed so interested) when I go for the time being, so excuse me if another post pops up or something of the sort happens.
You still have ~1 hour for the other question. Anyway...
What is your favorite PoFV character?
Going with Yuka, since she's the one that I use the most. And probably my best.
Disappearing now. See you guys "here" next week.
Oh man, I still love making "bastard" questions
-
Yuka. If the game weren't a piece of crap and worth playing, I would use her SO much.
-
Does it have to be a new one or returning one?
Probably Shikieiki or Yuka either way.
-
The only PoFV characters I'm familiar with are Aya and Komachi (mainly through UNL, not PoFV as I've yet to play that one), though I can't say I'm particularly fond of either.
As for the previous question, Utsuho's been a favorite since the beginning for me, though many other Touhou characters have been gaining my attention over time. But as of right now, Utsuho's the one I like most.
And Baity, sorry to hear you're sick. Get well soon.
-
Favourite character as in, for playing with? Mystia and Cirno.
Elsewise, Komachi.
edit: HOW DID I FORGET YUKA
-
To use, Yuka, with Reimu in second.
In general... Marisa *shot* Of course, since I can't well answer her for favorite character in every single game the question is asked on... Shiki. Honorable mentions to Komachi and Yuka... And Marisa. *shot again*
-
Delicious Yamalegs~<3
-
Medicine, Tho the poison clouds are ***** when they get your entire field
-
You were supposed to ask tomorrow night... :V
Also, Yuka. "You know, we use the phrase 'make a beehive out of someone' when we want to say "completely mess them up." You really can't beat pure insanity.
-
Yuka forever, for PoFV.
-
Wait PoFV, what's that?
Oh you mean that one game with Yuka in it. Right.
-
Yuka and Shikieki <3
-
Yuka and Mystia.
-
Aya and Medicine. Made the game less of a chore...
-
Gameplay wise: Shikieiki
Awesomeness wise: 9
Fucked up wise: Medicine
can't choose.... o.o
-
Komachi |3. Eh, we're both lazy as heck. Her one-touch spirit activation is, well... for lazy people xD (no, it actually helps a lot... 'cept when you're practically stuck on one corner)
Besides gameplay, is a personal favorite for being a lazy bum but a cool character sometimes |3 (case at point, SaBND 4)
HM to Yuka then Medicine :3
This is a question which I could never answer and not have regrets over my decision.
... Yeah, why didn't I think of that ._.
Eh, might as well enjoy what I do |D
-
Lyrica Prismriver.
Even though she lolsucks against AI or Human, I just love the Prismrivers too much.
Yuka gets a close second.
-
Well if it's just character I like then Merlin <3
Otherwise Yuka for gameplay and <3
-
Medicine for the character, Reimu for gameplay.
-
I like playing as Yuka but I only do single player cause I'll get raped playing against a human (basically I like pretty flower bullets) so everything's probably loleasymode.
I also enjoy Sakuya, it's fun to be the one with the obnoxious time stopping knifey-knifey skills for a change YEAH EOSD I'M LOOKING AT YOU
-
You were supposed to ask tomorrow night... :V
Yeah, well I won't be around for that. So there :V
-
Yuka, both for playing and for being a great character <3
HM to Sakuya and Reimu in terms of playability.
-
Since neither Baity nor I will be around, first person to reply to this post gets to ask tonight's question! Try to make it a good one, if you can, but don't worry too much about it. :V
-
lol 'kay. I've got one, when do I post it?
-
Crud >.< I was already typing it up when Donut interrupted ;_; Well, technically, I was doing it when my mom interrupted, but then Donut did too <_< >_>
-
Midnight, US eastern time...7 hours 41 minutes, if that helps.
-
Well, I guess that means I don't get to ask the question then =/ Ah well. I guess I was just too slow...
-
...Ah ha ha ha ha! That's I get for thinking I have a memory for these sorts of things. Let's see if I can recover:
What is your favorite Dolls in Pseudo Paradise track?
You know, the CD released back when it was just PC-98 and EoSD, before Renko and Maribel stole the show from...thief guys?
My favorite is the last track, contending for longest title in the series: The Strange Everyday Life of the Flying Shrine Maiden. It has a certain quality that makes me listen to it over and over again.
-
Probably Reincarnation.
HM to Dichromatic Butterfly.
-
Enigmatic Doll - God Knows. By far.
I've never actually listened to this album the whole way through so I'll just go with the one song I actually know.
-
I don't know what you are talking about :V
-
I don't know what you are talking about :V
This
:(
-
Funny, DiPP is actually the only CD I've listened to the whole way through.
Here, start here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8V1-q38u84&feature=PlayList&p=61638B220EC15D13&index=0
-
Thanks for the topic Donut. Very nice soundtrack, can't believe I've ignored it unitl now. :V
Still have a small handful to listen to, but it's gonna be tough to beat Legend of Horai.
HM to Reincarnation and Forest of Dolls.
-
Oh yay, we're on to ZUN albums! xD (in case I didn't miss any in previous posts)
Eternal Shrine Maiden for me, because it's an iteration of, well, Eternal Shrine Maiden of HRtP! >w<
HM goes to Reincarnation then The Strange Everyday Life of the Flying Shrine Maiden.
-
DiPP's version of Reincarnation is horrible :(
-
Eternal Shrine Maiden.
Also, Strange Oriental Discourse.
-
Witch of Love Potion
-
I'll just go with Reincarnation since I don't feel like listening through the whole album right now :V
-
I'll listen to this album in bed later. :V
-
Dichromatic Lotus Butterfly by a landslide.
-
Oh man I have a few choices in this album. And all of them are really close to each other.
But I think I have a definite winner in the end...
...REINCARNATION wins this because as a whole it owns, especially the chorus with trumpets which completely blew me away. Holy fuck if she comes back this better be her theme.
HM definitely goes to both Eternal Shrine Maiden (the intro is fucking beautiful IMO, but as a whole it was okay) and U.N Owen Was Her? (They rose the pitch which actually gave it a more creepy feeling IMO, and I like it better than the EoSD version).
The other songs sounded too much like most of the EoSD soundtrack, which most of you know I disliked greatly, especially the instruments used in it.
-
Okay, I'll say "Romance Hill of Cherry Petals ~ Japanese Flower" and "Reincarnation"
Goodnight! :V
-
Okay, I'll say "Romance Hill of Cherry Petals ~ Japanese Flower" and "Reincarnation"
Ditto. :V
-
Reincarnation and Witch of Love Potion
-
Reincarnation being the only one I've listened to at length, it wins for now (and for being amazing) but I'll listen more seriously if I have time. Also, Shuuso Gyoku seriously needs to go DIE.
What is your favorite Stage 2 theme?
Stage 2 really seems to get some of the best ones. Break the Sabbath, the Fantastic Legend of Tohno, Dark Road, the Bridge People No Longer Cross...but I have to declare this a tie between Shuuso Gyoku's (which I cannot read the name of) and Song of the Night Sparrow.
-
Easy question is easy.
The Bridge People No Longer Cross
-
End of Daylight. Just... End of Daylight.
-
Fantastic Legend of Tohno takes this one.
-
The Road of the Atropaic God ~ Dark Road
-
Definitely Lunate Elf for this one.
-
Fantastic Legend of Tohno takes this one.
-
End of Daylight. There are about three tracks from SoEW that are actually good, and this is one of them. UFO and PCB's themes both tie for very close second.
-
I rather enjoy Lunate Elf!
-
As much as I like The Bridge That People no Longer Cross, Dark Road is one of my favorite themes in the series.
-
Honestly, most stage 2 themes don't stick with me that well. I guess I'll just go with Dimension of Reverie from Mystic Square.
-
The Road of the Atropaic God ~ Dark Road
-
Fantastic Legend of Tohno
No contest here.
-
Dimension of Reverie
-
The Road of the Atropaic God ~ Dark Road (makes me want to spin spin spin~)
HM to Tohno and Dimension of Reverie.
-
Dimension of Reverie, brah.
End of Daylight and Break the Sabbath get honorable mentions.
-
Why, it's got to be Lunate Elf of course!!!
Nah. Fantastic Legend of Tohno for me as well.
-
Dimension of Reverie, brah.
End of Daylight and Break the Sabbath get honorable mentions.
I don't know about any of these :V
-
I don't know about any of these :V
Dude. Just play PC-98.
-
Oh my, Stage 2 Themes has the most I-don't-know-how-to-explain-it >w<
I vote for... Can I just place them all in Honorable Mentions? because dang, they're all good in their own way...
EDIT: oh wait, minus Mystia's stage theme, unless the remix plays it well.
-
I guess my favorite would be hartmann's youkai girl.
-
I guess my favorite would be hartmann's youkai girl.
yeah, because that is definitely a stage 2 theme :X
-
Lunate Elf is good. The Sealed Cloud Route is good.
-
Fantastic Legend of Tohno and Dark Road.
-
Fantastic Legend of Tohno.
Lunate Elf is really close, though. If ZUN had used Tesmy's arrange, it would definitely win.
-
Close call between Dark Road and Legend of Tohno, but I guess I'll have to go with Dark Road.
-
Dark Road for me.
-
I'm in ur threadz, postin ur questions
What is your favorite theme from the Touhou Project?
The be-all and end-all of themes for you, the one that you can never skip when it comes on on shuffle, the one that makes you grind that boss into the ground just to hear it...yeah, that one. For me, it's still Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial, Sakuya's EoSD theme. Pure. Bloody. Awesome.
Massive HMs go to absolutely everything else (it's Touhou, after all), but particular ones to Mokou's theme and SA S5.
-
Casket of Star, Septette, and Cosmic Mind.
Locked Girl seems to be pretty freaking close though. The others don't actually make me go fight the boss they belong to to hear them, but Locked Girl... Something about it tends to make me wanna go fight Patchy.
...This is scary. Patchy scored just behind Remi, Mari, and Byaku on my Touhou character sort, and now her theme is directly behind theirs? What.
-
Gaaaah, that's incredibly hard.
I can't pick just one, but it's definitely from the PC-98 era. Probably one of Alice's themes.
-
Locked Girl and Mysterious Mountain.
Though a few times I've thought to myself "My life needs more Necro Fantasy, let's go kick Ran's ass" as well.
HM to Doll of Misery.
-
It's hard for me to choose between Last Remote and UFO Romance in the Night Sky.
I think I'll choose UFO Romance because it fits the stage more, and I like the cheerful atmosphere. :V It goes so well with the stage, especially love the part where Kogasa comes in with the laugh in the background music. ;P
-
Septette and Reach for the Moon
-
Luna dial / UN owen / mokou's theme
take your pick
-
Memory of Forgathering Oriental Dream (Arrange) from the IaMP OST fights a bloody battle against The Eternal Steam Engine. Results due on December 31st, when the UNL OST comes out with the full TESE.
I love ending themes.
HM to Lullaby of Deserted Hell. And Gensokyo The Gods Loved.
-
Green-eyed Jealousy. NO FUCKING CONTEST!
HM definitely goes to Romantic Children. You can see my top 10 in the top 10 thread Letty made with short description why for each song.
-
This is a hard one...
I think I'll go with the thing I've been most obsessed with recently and say Bad Apple!!. It's just so damn CATCHY.
-
Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke
This is a hard one...
I think I'll go with the thing I've been most obsessed with recently and say Bad Apple!!. It's just so damn CATCHY.
Great, now I'm going to have this stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
-
Cosmic Mind.
-
NO REMORSE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNK7j-j_c68)
oh, touhou.
Not sure.
Something between Necrofantasia and 50 more themes....Till When?, Heian Alien, ,SFDP....and the list goes on.
-
1. Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes
Gloriously atmospheric, an enchanting whole far greater than the sum of its parts. Webster's defines 'underrated' as...
-
(Forgive the rant, but this is a big question. Also bear with my reasoning, I still only own one game).
Unlike other questions, I'm not going to judge purely on musical value, but on the song's value as a theme; now well does the song do its job. With that in mind, my winner is
The Gensokyo the Gods Loved
This song screams "paradise," which seems to be the unofficial nickname for Gensokyo, and the stage itself does this perfectly, starting off with a pure red-orange background before opening up to the base of the mountain: a beautiful river surrounded by the colors of the season. The main chorus halfway through (midboss) with the trumpet and piano is one of the most triumphant and beautiful in the series, and marks one of the only times outside of Nuclear Fusion that I like Zun trumpets. The post-chorus flourish perfectly illustrates the large fairy counter-attack and storm of bullets that accompany. Overall, this theme describes it's stage, and Touhou as a whole, perfectly.
Honorable Mentions
Luna Dial- Lunar Clock: Musically among the weakest in EoSD, but as Sakuya's boss theme when played with the fight it fits. The normally stoic maid comes at the intruder with everything she has, and the music drives this point home sharply (get it? Sharp? Point? Kni- *shot*)
Green Eyed Jealousy: It's very, very rare that a boss theme accentuates the boss herself, but this song does it. And the remixes? These (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4GLlhFx0Ww) two (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5U1THLG6ZQ) propelled her from near bottom-of-barrel into my top 5.
There are many other great themes, mostly anything I've already voted on. Nuclear Fusion, Primal Scene, Illusionary Night, UFO Romance. So many good songs in this series! :V
-
Faith is for Transient People.
I just...it's such a fantastic song. See my post in the Top 10 Songs thread for reasoning :V
-
SADIST!! That's impossible to answer!!!
It would be like getting asked which one of your kidneys you'd rather have smashed. Zun would know how that felt after running into Kefit... or maybe that's just my theory...
-
SADIST!! That's impossible to answer!!!
It would be like getting asked which one of your kidneys you'd rather have smashed.
I pick your left.
:V
-
I pick your left.
:V
You can get YOUR left smashed! And you better suck it up and take your beating! Zun tried to flee but Kefit caught up with him and bodyslammed him... according to my theories.
-
Mmm.... I'll say Demystify Feast.
-
If this includes stage themes, Tommorow Will be Sunny, Yesterday Was Not from Mountain of Faith
If it only includes character themes, then I really have no idea.
-
Wind Goddess Girl
-
It's extremely hard to choose just one, but The Gensokyo the Gods Loved hooked me on Touhou's music the first time I ever played it, and I still love it to this day.
-
This is a Difficult Question for me to answer, but I think I'll go with Satori Maiden~Third Eye.
-
Border of Life, Necrofantasia or Cosmic Mind.
-
Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke.
-
Locked Girl ~ The Girl's Secret Room. After playing IN for the first time, though, Voyage 1969 kind of grew on me.
-
This might be a bit of an unexpected choice, but I'd have to go with Complete Darkness. No other themes give me the same feeling of an absolutely life-or-death battle. Unlike most of the other final boss themes, it's got very few quirks - it's a pure, unadulterated good versus evil battle, and is all the more effective (and awesome) for it.
HMs to Heian Alien, Nuclear Fusion and Lost Dream. :V
-
Reach for the Moon, Immortal Smoke.
WTF SOMEBODY BEAT ME TO IT
-
NO REMORSE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNK7j-j_c68)
Imma let you finish but
Hellsinker has the best TLB music of all time. OF ALL TIME. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=km80GxyKZl0)
And for my answer, refer to this post. (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=3386.msg144013#msg144013) Alice Maestra gets some massive HMs though.
-
Eternal Steam Engine. Nothing else even comes close.
-
Eternal Shrine Maiden, Fight it Out!, The Grimoire of Alice
-
It's interesting to see
how terrible all your taste in music is how people tick, musically. Anyway.
What is your favorite Stage 6 theme?
Nothing quite tops out against Fires of Houkai, for this one; easily the best track from UFO. But incredibly close HMs go to Voyage 1969 and Ultimate Truth.
And Antique Terror. Oh MAN, Antique Terror comes SO CLOSE.
-
It's interesting to see how terrible all your taste in music is
Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial
:x
So yeah, if every single answer to this question isn't Fires of Houkai then I will seriously lose all faith in humanity.
-
Heh. To be honest, though, I am fully willing to admit that Luna Dial is NOT, at all, one of ZUN's best tracks from a purely musical perspective. Thus the HMs to Mokou and Lullaby, which are.
And who are you to talk, Mr. Capital-City-of-Flowers? :V
-
Dream Land. :V Sorry Azinth. Fires of Hokkai is pretty atmospheric but Dream Land has a nostalgic feel that I love. That and I love the stage it's on entirely because of how well it synchs with this song.
-
8. Fires of Hokkai
Something about this piece in tandem with the seemingly infinite stream of 'Space Invader' fairies affects me deeply. I suspect I was an Arcade Machine in a past life.
This aside, stage 6 themes don't do a great deal for me.
-
Voyage 1969. It's just so beautiful.
On the subject of UFO's stage 6 theme: if you listen to it on headphones, you can actually hear a heartbeat at the start. It's a lovely piece for sure, however, Voyage 1969 just sticks with me better.
-
Hm... I guess Hellfire Mantle, with Grave of Being close behind. Honorable mention to Fires of Hokkai for the atmosphere it gives the stage. The heartbeats work out amazingly well.
-
I bitterly, bitterly give this to Fires of Houkai (explain my bitterness below).
HMs: Ultimate Truth and Dream Land
*FoH is, by far, the most atmospheric song in the series, period. It's dark. It's full of tension. It builds up anticipation to "what the hell could be locked away in Makai of all places?!" final boss fight. Finally, light appears, the enemies stop spawning, and you're stare into the gaze of....
...a hippie. A pattern-stealing, literally-eternally-young, hippie.
/headdesk.
-
Record of the Sealing of an Oriental Demon ~ A Phantom's Boisterous Dance
>_>
-
Firefox2 suddenly closed... unfortunately, it wasn't able to recover the forms, so I'll have to deal with inaccurate thought recovery xV... aww geesh~
Ack, missed yesterday's Best question... Ah well, Imma die trying to rank them anyway... Lullaby of Deserted Hell? A God That Loves People? umm, Eternal Shrine Maiden (DiPP)? Neo Super-Express?......... Aww geesh x_x
Cemetery of Onbashira ~ Grave of Being. "Big Sister Kanako's coming to get you!! for spanking Sanae
!![/i]" sort of feeling x3. Grave of Being has this "constant draw of strength" aura, and it is thrown at ya continuously when Suwa Foughten Field finally plays on the last act.
*hits post before anything happens to FF again =.=
EDIT: HM goes to *scribbles on Touhou Wikia* Voyage 1969 (oddly HM to me, because I don't usually get any theme from IN :V).
... Fires of Houkai doesn't even appe- *gets shot* has HM as well! +_+
-
Voyage 1969.
HM To Cemetery of Onbashira ~ Grave of Being.
-
Cemetery of Onbashira, Voyage 1969
-
I would say Fires of Houkai, but Ultimate Truth just blows it out of the water.
-
Ultimate Truth blows everything out of the water, actually!
-
Fires of Hokkai have some sort of snooze-inducing effect on me. Easily the worst PC-era stage 6 theme in my opinion.
I think its too slow-paced and pretty much any other PC-era stage 6 theme is much more catchy imo. Maybe it would help if the song wasn't set to such a boring stage.
I prefer Grave of Being.
-
Ultimate Truth is the Ultimate AWESOME.
Runner up is Voyage 1969 because I totally dig how well the music from the end of IN jives with its storyline
(http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/4977/259x.jpg)
-
Ultimate Truth, Voyage 1969.
-
ULTIMATE TRUTH FUCK YES
Then again I just played PCB last night and am still riding on the emotional high. Honorable mentions to Grave of Being and Fires of Hokkai.
in before Kilga
-
Fires of Hokkai.
Honorable mentions go to MoFs stage 6 theme for being so damned catchy.
-
I'm going with Voyage 1969 for this one.
Eirin themes don't get enough love.
-
Fires of Motherfucking Hokkai for all the reasons I routinely spit out. 95% of UFO's effort, Phil Collins, Genesis, etc.
The rest* rank, to me, as Grave of Being > Voyage 1969 > Hellfire Mantle > Ultimate Truth > Young Descendant. Sorry, UT fans, but the song just never really stuck with me. I can only barely even remember how it goes without listening to it. :l
*lolpc98
-
I would say Fires of Houkai, but Ultimate Truth just blows it out of the water.
-
Voyage 1969, with Ultimate Truth very close behind.
-
I was going to say Grave of Being, but then I remembered Dream Land.
Honorable mention to The Young Descendant of Tepes.
-
It occurs to me on a quite old question now, favorite sprite...I completely forgot about Rikako's jetpack. Heh.
What is your favorite theme from Lotus Land Story?
For those of you haven't played it, LLS's soundtrack is amazingly good, and I think even tops out over Mystic Square's as the best PC-98 game, albeit barely. Picking one theme is difficult, but I think I'm going to go with Inanimate Dream, just barely edging out Alice Maestra.
-
Inanimate Dream. Second place goes to Sleeping Terror.
HRtP's and PoDD's soundtracks are much better btw
-
Oh what an evil question. Hmm...
I'll just have to go with Dream Land again. Honorable mentions to about half the soundtrack.
-
Magic Shop of Raspberry
Assuming they actually have to be USED in order to count, I'll go with Sleeping Terror and Inanimate Dream. If not make the top one my choice and these two honorable mentions.
-
Uhh... Bad Apple?
/me is shot
-
Going with Bad Apple as well. HMs to Decoration Battle and Scarlet Phoneme.
-
Casket of Star. Sleeping Terror and Decoration Battle get honorable mentions.
-
Let's do some motherfucking CATCHING UP
What is your favorite theme from the Touhou Project?
Cosmic Mind. What? I love it.
What is your favorite Stage 6 theme?
Fires of Houkai. However,
Oh MAN, Antique Terror comes SO CLOSE.
What is your favorite theme from Lotus Land Story?
Illusion of a Maid ~ Icemilk Magic.
:V V:
-
Inanimate Dream

The lack of Alice Maestra said so far is terrible, that is like one of the top five songs in the series. :(
-
Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream
-
The lack of Alice Maestra said so far is terrible, that is like one of the top five songs in the series. :(
-
Ugh, everything in stages 3-6 is awesome in this game. :(
I'll be different and say Perdition Crisis I guess.
But really, it's pretty much a six-way tie here.
E: After relistening to everything, I'm going to have to change my answer to Bad Apple I guess.
-
Easily Bad Apple!! for me. It's so damn catchy. I love it.
-
Bad Apple was neat-o, but my favourite LLS song is definitely Sleeping Terror.
-
The lack of Alice Maestra said so far is terrible, that is like one of the top five songs in the series. :(
Alice Maestra is a great song, don't get me wrong, but I prefer Dreamy Pilot. I see why ZUN cut it since it doesn't sound remotely like BGM, but as a stand-alone song it's beautiful.
-
Yeah I'm gonna go with Sleeping Terror with this one.
-
1. Sleeping Terror
2. Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream
3. Dream Land
4. Alice Maestra
5. Lotus Love
6. Bad Apple
7. Vessel of Stars ~ Casket of Star
8. Maiden's Capriccio
9. Witching Dream
10. Scarlet Symphony ~ Scarlet Phoneme
Because I wanted to mention everything that I liked. D:
-
Sleeping Terror
-
A little unfair to the topic...
Who is your least favorite character in the Touhou Project?
As I suspect is the case for most people, this isn't terribly hard - Aya takes this one with flying colors. Dishonorable mention to Sanae.
-
Reimu and Kanako. And yeah, dishonorable mention to Sanae.
-
I assume you're talking from a personality/story standpoint, and in that case my answer is no-one. There are plenty that I find uninteresting or unmemorable, but none that I actively dislike. Even those 'controversial' characters like Aya or Mima never really bothered me all that much. Characterization really isn't that big a part of Touhou, at least in the official games, so I've always found it silly how some people end up disliking some characters so much. :/
-
I assume you're talking from a personality/story standpoint
From any, really, but my answers stand either way.
-
On my character sorting, the lowest character was Koakuma, but the lowest actual character was Orin. I've yet to play EoSD or SA though. Least favorite character from a game I HAVE played is Medicine.
-
What a sucky Whory he-male Watatsuki no Yorihime. I mean COME ON. Even if you overlook her god mode sueness, she made SSiB drag on by saying "yep, watch me beat up another much better established character through bullshit." It doesn't help that she's bland herself.
Dishonorable mention goes to Eirin. Her extreme racism and egocentrism just piss me off. In fact, the only lunarian I like is Kaguya.
-
Adolf Hitler Sanae. Gawd I hate that bitch so much.
-
Adolf Hitler Sanae.
Why do you think I hate all three of Sanae, Reimu, and Kanako so much? <.<
-
Kaguya.
-
Parsee.
-
Tenshi, no contest. The fact she, apparently**, did all she did in SWR out of selfishness and/or boredom pisses me off to no end. Worst part is I can't even say I want to see her tortured, because thanks to fandom she would enjoy it. >:(
Dishonorable mentions all around:
Reimu (racist genocidal bitch)
Marisa (rude klepto bitch)
Kaguya (non-Inaba version) (selfish, negatively affected so damn many lives over time, and sends assassins to Mokou for god knows what reason)
Koakuma (analogous, nearly monochromatic danmaku and background colors are a pain in the ass when you have bad eyesight)
Nameless Fairy (so...many...deaths......)
There are others that get to me, but I can love them at times at least. These guys are the worst of the worst...
**Obviously never played, but dialogue I've read so far hasn't changed my opinion yet....
-
No one.
EDIT:

For pretty much this.
-
It's hard to actually hate any character but, there are some who simply don' stand out for me.
Nagae Iku
-
The amount of Sanae hate in here is saddening... Having actually PLAYED Sanae A in UFO, I can honestly say that it really gives the impression that she doesn't really understand what she's supposed to do, so she just keeps repeating her orders hoping to figure out what it means as she goes along.
The only time she really gets angry is when Byakuren tells her that gods are no different from youkai, because telling most people (let alone a shrine maiden) that gods and demons are the same thing would probably piss them off.
Dishonorable mention to Sanae.
You're just mad Sanae is playing in UFO instead of Sakuya. =V
-

That's why she doesn't quite reach Reimu and Kanako's place. I still don't like her. Even if she's just a ditz... Blindly following orders to commit genocide?
-
You're just mad Sanae is playing in UFO instead of Sakuya. =V
People keep saying that.
Honestly...no. I've hated Sanae since her introduction in MoF, and even more for her cameo in SA. I didn't need UFO to hate her, and the lack of playable Sakuya is just fine with me. I sure as hell wouldn't mind if she came back, but Sanae is simply the second-biggest jackass in Gensokyo.</thread>
-
That's why she doesn't quite reach Reimu and Kanako's place. I still don't like her. Even if she's just a ditz... Blindly following orders to commit genocide?
Because Nazrin, Kogasa, Ichirin, Murasa, Shou, and Byakuren totally died after Sanae exterminated them. Oh wait...
Youkai eat humans, and there aren't many humans in Gensokyo as it is. Can you blame Kanako for telling Sanae to keep them in line? There was a reason Reimu had to beat up everyone she came accross (i.e. they attacked her). Yes, Byakuren is sympathetic, but we must remember she doesn't exactly like humans, either (after all, Marisa doesn't give two figs about youkai extermination, but knows that youkai tend to give humans a hard time due to the eating and all, but when she tells Byakuren about that she insists on fighting Marisa, claiming that the fact the two factions are still fighting is proof that humans haven't changed in their oppressive ways, apparently unable to believe that youkai could oppress humans).
People keep saying that.
'Twas actually just poking fun at your love of Sakuya with that comment.
-
Probably Orin or Parsee. They're both so horrible :x
-
I don't really dislike any of the cast.
But if I really have to start nitpicking, I'd say Mystia because I never really cared much for her.
Don't really know much about the fanon cast, maybe it's better that I don't.
-
Adolf Hitler Sanae. Gawd I hate that bitch so much.
Gawd I hate that bitch so much.
I hate that bitch
that bitch
bitch
Dude...
...Consider yourself KILLED.
Back to topic: I don't really hate anyone, but I have to dislike someone is maybe Sakuya. I have nothing against her, but I hate the "Sanae instead of Sakuya wtfthatbitch" people, and the fact that Sakuya always kicks my ass in every game I have to fight her.
-
Motherfucking REMILIA
AGH
-
there are some who simply don' stand out for me.
Nagae Iku
:I
-
Eirin. FUCK YOU.
Dishonourble mentions to Suckuya, MANako, and Remiliass.
-
KANAKO
HATE HATE HATE
This is purely out of gameplay, character wise there's no one that inspires such RAGE from me.
-
Iku's SWR art is sexy as hell :V
Kogasa.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHH CLIPDEATH RESET EXTRA AGAIN
-
TEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEITEI
MOTHERFUCKIN' TEI INABA
Dishonrable mention to Kanako and Mystia as well.
-
Eirin, Orin, Kogasa, MURASA
-
WHAT genocide? Do you see her kill anyone?
-
Sikieiki: Moralistic. Preachy. Annoying. Has no other redeeming features.
Ran: Chen-related nosebleeds got tiresome very quickly. Looks ridiculous. Has no other etc.
Cirno: Gratingly stupid personality. ⑨ meme also got tiresome very quickly. Has no other etc.
-
Miniriko
-
Parsee for having absolutely no redeemable qualities. Ugly, whiny, stupid power, boring cards.
Dishonorable mention to Mima for having THE worst fanbase in Touhou. There is no one with more obnoxious followers, not even Remilia, Aya or Byakuren.
-
-Alice EVER liked her.
-Sanae.
-Parsee.
-Sara, because her theme raep my ears.
Dishonorable mention for...YuugenMagen ?
-
Based on the official-works-only personality:
Mai. Just... Mai. Put together the worst traits of Remilia with a bit of Cirno and take away all the likable ones, there you go. A smug bitch who considers herself superior to everyone. When you shoot down Yuki, probably the only person who actually considers her a friend, she is pleased that she won't be dragged down by her anymore, even though Yuki is much stronger.
Also: If there are any nazis in touhou, it is the lunarians, not Sanae. Particularly Eirin and the Watatsuki's. They all get dishounorable mentions.
-
Three-way tie between Wriggle, Reisen, and Chiyuri.
-
Remiliass.
... <.< *begins plotting Gpop's death*
-
Remiliass.
<-
-
Am I the only one who finds Sanae's whole confused youkai extermination deal to be adorably funny?
Here's to hoping she'll be playable in future games too. Wouldn't mind her getting a permanent third slot alongside Reimu and Marisa.
-
There's plenty of characters I just don't care about, but it would be hard to pin any of them I hate. But if had to pick:
Watatsuki no Yorihime, for reasons already mentioned. Thanks for ruining SSiB.
Kanako; for such a boring character, she seems too damned important.
in any case, I think all the Sanae hate is just the same feeling everyone had towards Aya when she was ZUN's favourite.
-
in any case, I think all the Sanae hate is just the same feeling everyone had towards Aya when she was ZUN's favourite.
<_<; Honestly, I couldn't care less about Sanae's "taking Sakuya's place" or any other crud like that. I have no problem with Aya either. I dislike Sanae for her character, no other reason. And it's the exact same reason I absolutely despise Reimu and Kanako.
-
I can't take Aya.
Always overpowered and she acts like a 16 year old camwhore.
-
Whatwhat?
People don't like Aya?
How can people not like Aya?
People, you are weird.
-
Whatwhat?

How can people not like Aya?
People, you are weird.
If my other computer wasn't dead I'd upload my "Aya Hate" folder that I use for trolling a certain Aya fanboy I know.
That said, I hated her for awhile at first, but ever since I stopped being terrible at MoF hate has turned to love.
-
Whatwhat?
People don't like Aya?
How can people not like Aya?
People, you are weird.
We can not like Aya for many reasons, as above, and more
I can't stand her due to the fact that her danmaku is nothing but arrowheads, gay blue and red rings, and shards, no variety, that and her dialog is sooo damn long. And about 100 other reasons
-
Ah but of course you can have plenty of quite justified reasons for not liking her.
I'm just saying you're totally not non-weird for doing so :yukkuri:
Also, I would love to see that folder.
Trolling material is always fun stuff.
-
No one.
... though there are characters I neither like nor dislike... Hmm... *couldn't name one*
EDIT: Eh, Kaguya (influenced by Youngest Sister) and umm... the Watatsuki sisters (personal).
-
Oi people. Calm Down. This is not a HAET topic. I just only killed one person. Now, Calm Down.
-
Eirin
-
UFO Sanae. NOT MoF Sanae, I actually like her in MoF.
Second place, Satori. One thing that makes me like a character is original, creative danmaku, and, well. When you factor in Satori's personality..
These are the only two characters I outright dislike, which says something about the 50+ characters in the Windows series.
We can not like Aya for many reasons, as above, and more
I can't stand her due to the fact that her danmaku is nothing but arrowheads, gay blue and red rings, and shards, no variety, that and her dialog is sooo damn long. And about 100 other reasons
Hmm, I agree that her MoF danmaku is nothing special. StB Aya, though, is one of my favorite characters in the series. Even though Aya herself only has one card in the game, most of the game's levels are puzzles, so Aya's the type of person who likes figuring out danmaku. Plus, she takes pictures of the patterns instead of shooting the enemies. Combined with her comments for each of the cards, this really characterizes Aya.
So, I guess you like Aya if you like StB.
-
I adore Aya, and I love StB. How interesting.
Anyway, I hate Nue and Remilia more or less equally. Remilia more. (Which is why Benny1 changed my name to this. :|)
-
I think the only character I truly hate out of the two main games I played is Yuugi. I can't really see why she was created, or at least I can't understand what ZUN was drinking when he thought her up. Here's why:
- She doesn't even look like an oni. Granted, Touhou's youkai are greatly humanized, so I can't expect perfect representations. But Suika still has two horns on her head, just like an oni should. Yuugi would probably be better off as a unicorn youkai, honestly.
- Her main ability (control over the supernatural) seems too vague, and alongside the random "Deva of the Mountain" status she has (and also which didn't necessarily have to be specific to her just because she's the second oni introduced) gives me the impression ZUN didn't really try to give this character much thought outside of designing her looks. And I will say that her remarkably, yet not completely, pale skin actually looks a bit creepy.
- Her attacks, both during the midboss and boss phases, seem weirdly organized. All of her non-spells share most of her overall difficulty, and for a variety of wrong reasons too (LASERS ARGH!). I wouldn't mind if her spells were legitimately difficult instead, as that would be expected. Not to mention that none of her attacks are fun to play - her only card that looks remotely interesting is her final, but it's incredibly straightforward.
- Her theme is very annoying. Like Yuugi herself, it doesn't sound like it had as much thought put into it as some other Touhou songs I've heard. So repetitive throughout, and if you ask me, the key transitions the melody takes don't work at all (in both directions, mind you), ruining any essence of a good boss battle theme that remained.
-
Dishonorable mention to Mima for having THE worst fanbase in Touhou. There is no one with more obnoxious followers, not even Remilia, Aya or Byakuren.
Oh yeah, this too. Mima fans are some of the most irritating people on the internet.
Also, Byakuren fans are irritating? Huh, never heard much of a huge fanbase for her...
Oh also, I think Sanae's dialogue in UFO is adorable. She's just naiive, that's all, she doesn't seem to realize what she's doing and is just happily waltzing through Gensokyo just doin' her thang.
-
Nameless Fairy, for all the humiliating deaths suffered at her bullets and body.
CURSE YOU NAMELESS FAIRY
Also, theshim, where's that avatar from?

Elis, because she is generic and has no appeal whatsoever. I don't think I've even seen fanart of her before.
-
Heathens and fools.
What is your favorite Stage 4 Boss theme?
This is bloody difficult. Stage 4 bosses are almost entirely win and awesome. I will, after deliberations, have to give this to Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle, but it is absurdly close to Mysterious Mountain, Phantom Ensemble, Forbidden Magic, and everything else that doesn't include Love in the title.
-
Gee, I wonder what I'll pick...
-
A little late, but I HAD to answer this.
Who is your least favorite character in the Touhou Project?
- Sakuya Izayoi. All thanks to this "Sakuya should replace Sanae" BS I see everywhere lately. I don't give a damn if she's playable or not. She has been a playable character in SIX games if you count SWR and UNL as separate ones. Stop whining.
- Marisa Kirisame. I just hate Master Spark that much. +1 for Yorihime for destroying that thing for me. And sorry 'Nut ;_;
- Fujiwara no Mokou. Hating a character because of her spell cards and theme song ... Does it make sense ? :V
Dishonorable mention to Mima for having THE worst fanbase in Touhou. There is no one with more obnoxious followers, not even Remilia, Aya or Byakuren.
The "Aya is the strongest person in Gensokyo, she didn't use her full power against you in MoF" nonsense makes me rage.
And the Sakuya fanbase is not there ? I'm surprised :(
What is your favorite Stage 4 Boss theme?
Phantom Ensemble. Honorable mention to Yuki and Mai's theme.
-
And sorry 'Nut ;_;
For what? I'm more annoyed by the fact that YOU CAN'T CUT THROUGH LIGHT. But that's yesterday's topic...
As for this one, I'll have to go With Dream Battle. Honorable mentions go to 3rd Eye and Forbidden Magic.
-
To be honest, while stage 4 themes are perfectly nice, I've never really been all that stricken by any of them. I guess I'd go with either the original Maiden's Capriccio or Locked Girl.
-
Maiden's Capriccio - Dream Battle, with Love-coloured Master Spark getting an honorable mention.
I would like to say Phantom Ensemble as well as I used to love it, but now loathe it as I've been using the prismrivers as a morning alarm for nearly 2 years. Still gets me up tho.
-
There was a time when I would have said Phantom Ensemble... Then there was a time where I would have said the raw awesomeness of Casket of Star... However, not anymore. Locked Girl has risen above. The emotion it conveys... The sadness of the opening, then the intensity of other parts... I love it.
...I think I'm gonna have to change my answer for the "favorite song in the series" question by the way. It's a tie between Locked Girl and Septette.
-
All thanks to this "Sakuya should replace Sanae" BS I see everywhere lately.
Honestly, that pisses me off as well. I don't care about playability, I care about character...which is exactly why Aya and Sanae are right at the bloody bottom.
- Fujiwara no Mokou. Hating a character because of her spell cards and theme song ... Does it make sense ? :V
It might if it weren't Mokou...???
-
Phantom Ensemble with Love-Colored Master Spark right on its heels.
-
Satori Maiden ~ Third Eye.
What the hell is wrong with the rest of you people for not mentioning this earlier?
Honorable mention goes to Captain Murasa.
-
And the Sakuya fanbase is not there ? I'm surprised :(
I only listed the main three I could think of. My official Obnoxious Asshole Fanbase list consists of Mima, Shinki, Patchouli, Sakuya, Remilia, Yuyuko, Yukari, Reisen, Aya, Byakuren and Nue, and Chen is getting dangerously close to joining them.
As for the question at hand, I can't believe I'm saying this, but it has to be 3rd Eye. I refuse to say anything good about it (outside of being better than the other Stage 4 boss songs) since Heartfelt Fancy is much better, but there you go.
-
Locked Girl. Casket of Star and 3rd Eye are also very good, but stage 4 themes/bosses are my least favourite overall apart from a few exceptions.
-
5. Satori Maiden ~ 3rd Eye
A deliciously haunting backdrop to an exquisite battle. Intense, intimidating and I SEE YOU LIKE CASTLEVANIA
HM to:
9. Ghostly Band ~ Phantom Ensemble
Inspiring instrumentation, culminating in a delightful din.
-

But aren't you in at least two of those? :V
I know we've moved on, but fanbases are a silly reason alone to hate a character. I hate Mima's fanbase with a passion, but I only dislike Mima because of her character.
-
I think Mysterious Mountain. HM to Locked Girl.
-
It's a Tie between Captain Murasa and Third Eye for me.
-
Eternal Shrine MaidenOh derp
I guess it goes to Casket of Stars.HM to Third Eye, Cap'n Murasa and Locked Girl.
-
Mysterious
Third Eye Mountain.
HM to Third Eye (Vampire-ish... yeah, Castlevania it is like, like Viper and Solais said ;_;...) then Love-coloured Master Spark.
Locked Girl? I kinda got tired of it, unfortunately...
-
Casket of Star
-
Forbidden Magic.
HM to Captain Murasa's Captain Murasa and Third Eye.
-
Third Eye
-
Phantom Ensemble.
HM to Mysterious Mountain and 3rd Eye. But damn Phantom Ensemble is so fucking win.
-
DUN...
Dada dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun dun...
Da dun dun dun dun dun dun dundun- dadadun dadadun-
Dun- dun dadadun dun- da dun dun dun dun dun
Da dun dun- dun dun- dun dun- dadadadadun- dadadun!
To the last question I want to add that I cannot fathom how anybody could think Satori had a bad personality. In canon she is established as one of the nicest persons in the entirety of Gensokyo. That is, she is generally non-combative and helpful as opposed to pretty much everyone else. If you'll say that she is a smug mind-reading bitch, then I'll tell you that she is not smug about it but uses it to help other people (and animals). Also, she can't really not read your mind unless she closed her third eye, which is a pretty drastic step and comes with loads of side-effects (see Koishi).
-
A three-way tie between Satori Maiden ~ 3rd Eye, Casket of Star, and Treacherous Maiden ~ Judas Kiss.
-
Gonna go with Locked Girl on this one. I think 3rd Eye is a lovely theme, but highly overrated. SOUND HOLIC's arrange "Marquis de 3rd" though, that is incredible.
Dishonorable mention to Captain Murasa for being generic and forgettable.
-
Seeing as Baity's still MIA (missing in America), first reply gets to ask tonight's question in eight and a half hours!
-
I'll give it a shot, timezones be damned.
-
This is the most unfair question ever.
Mysterious Mountain because it fits the role of a boss theme better than the others, but I'll be damned if just about every other stage 4 boss theme isn't amazing (minus Captain Murasa, which is overwhelmed by the stage theme).
-
Maiden's Capriccio for the ridiculously fast piano. Phantom Ensemble gets second for its beauty.
-
But aren't you in at least two of those? :V
Doesn't make me blind to the retards around me.
voting for Locked Girl and claiming 3rd Eye is overrated in the same breath
rofl
-
Normally, this would go to the PoFV version of Phantom Ensemble. However, I shall instead be voting for Esoterica, in thanks for the link.
Congrats, Esoterica! You're my favorite Stage 4 boss theme!
-
Normally, this would go to the PoFV version of Phantom Ensemble.
Wow wut?
-
Wow wut?
Phantom Ensemble is a Stage 4 boss theme. I dunno if you can fight Lyrica in stage 4 of PoFV, but I prefer the PoFV version of the song to the PCB version for not being as loud with the horns.
Even if I can't pick the PoFV version, though, Phantom Ensemble still wins. Or it would, except Esoterica does.

Five tons of flax?

I'm just saying that you prefer the PoFV version =(
-
What's wrong with the PoFV version of Phantom Ensemble? It really didn't get changed from the original all that much besides being a bit less loud and a bit darker.
-
I'll have to go with Love Colored Master Spark.
-
Going for Ghostly Band ~ Phantom Ensemble, with second place going to Satori Maiden ~ 3rd eye.
Honorable Mention to Love-coloured Magic.
-
Yeah, I didn't fancy setting my alarm for 5AM. Anyway:
Which Touhou game has your overall favourite cast?
I'm talking about newly introduced characters here, i.e. PoFV wouldn't include all the returning characters like Cirno, Mystia and so on.
I'm giving this one to the SA cast. Discounting Kisume, it's the only game in the series where I'm reasonably fond of every character. The Komeijis are the best sisters in Touhou (sorry Akis), Orin, Utsuho and Yamame are great, and Parsee and Yuugi aren't bad either. GJ, ZUN.
-
Either EoSD or SA.
-
I myself would go with the UFO cast. They seem a little bit more together than previous casts.

It used to be MoF but this changed my mind
-
Tie between PCB and EoSD.
-
PCB. Probably biased because it was my first Touhou game, but there you go.
-
PoFV, even after narrowing it down to just the 5 making their Windows debuts. Aya, Siki, Machi and Yuuka are all in my Top 8 favorites. <3
-
I've only played SA and MoF, but overall I'd have to say SA. It has some ridiculously good characters (Utsuho and the Komeijis), and Yuugi is the only one I'm not fond of. In MoF, the only character I really like is Kanako, and the rest I have little interest in (I imagine Aya wouldn't be included since she debuted in an earlier game).
-
Imperishable Night :V
Honorable mention to UFO. And sorry Koishi ...
-
A Certain Master Spark, HM to Locked girl. Shouldn't be hard to guess which one has the third spot.
On a side-note, Murasa's stage theme is clearly the strongest stage 4 theme.
Favorite cast? EosD, closely followed by IN.
Can't help but love the SDM cast...
Had it not been the entire cast taken into account, I can assure you that something involving Yuyuko would come out on top.
-
PCB for youmu alone, but yuyuko, yukari, ran and chen are also <3 And the phantom ensemble is awesome purely because they're unique within the series.
UFO comes in 2nd
-
Hmmm.... Probably SA. Yeeah, I think, SA.
-
Perfect Cherry Blossom. The Y trio Yuyuko, Youmu, (fluffy)Yukari, the Prismriver trio Lunasa, Lyrica, Merlin,
Cirno&Letty, Chen&Ran, with LettyLily White throwing Cherry Blossoms confetti... what more could you want? EDIT: Oh, and Alice :V how did I miss her?
Though not a new character, Sakuya wearing a scarf is a plus.
HM to Mountain of Faith, having almost equally high liking to all the characters. The Moriya family is just... d'awwww (after some epic doujins, that is). Is Aya included in MoF? I guess not, but nevertheless,
2nd HM to PoFV. Aya, Komachi&Sikieiki, and Yuka.
-
IN wins hands down. I really like exactly 7 of the characters introduced in IN.
-
Lotus Land Story. The two characters I'd call my least favorite are still in my top thirty. The ones I'd call my favorites are in my top ten/five/one. <3
Honorable mention goes to Perfect Cherry Blossom, which has Alice, Youmu, Yuyuko, Ran, and Yukari. If Letty, Chen, and the Prismrivers were more likable it'd be a closer call.
-
(http://i516.photobucket.com/albums/u323/Gpop92/5b2e6d5d9120fc447cad6818b257a8bd.png)
SA wins overall. No contest there.
Seriously, I think it's the only game so far where every single character is likable. Every single one of them is awesome.
-
Tie between EoSD and MoF.
Honorable Mention to Lotus Land Story.
-
Phantasmagoria of Dimensional Dream.
Rikako, Kotohime, Kana, Chiyuri, Yumemi.
So much love.
-
Ehhh...there aren't any real games were I love the whole cast. It's usually just two to three per game that I like.
I'd say UFO, but I really can't stand Nazrin, Shou, or Murasa. :|
Maybe...PoFV. Introducing Medicine, Aya, and Yuka (shut up LLS) is <3
-
MoF I think...
Or SA... OR PCB :V
-
Good and tough question...
The only ones I really like from SA are ParseeRage amd Koishi; IN has Mokou and Keine, but fails epically for having Eirin and Kaguya; PoDD gets big points for Kana, Yumemi and Rikako, but I'll have to go with EoSD for having Rumia, Cirno, Patchy AND Sakuya.
-
PCB. UFO would be second place, I think, with SA and PoFV just behind.
-
PCB(Alice, Youmu, Yuyuko, Ran), SA(Yuugi, Orin, Utsuho, Satori), or IN(Mystia, Keine, Kaguya, Mokou) could all take this one depending on my mood.
-
1. UFO
2. SA
3. EoSD
For PC-98, I would have to say PoDD.
-
UFO, with honorable mentions to PCB, MOF, and SA. (I had to list all the characters I liked who debuted in each game - UFO had 5, those three had four, and PCB and IN had three. Pretended the sidegames and 9 didn't exist. :V)
-
Cheese question! :V
Who is your favorite doll in the Touhou Project?
I say Hina.
all right all right medicine's little doll wins
-
Look at your avatar.
-
O_o Um... Hina I guess. Honorable mention to Medicine.
-
>Hina >doll
Is this a commonly held opinion? Okay, she's the "head of the Nagashi-bina doll army", and 'Hina' can mean 'doll', but this's never really struck me as being compelling evidence that she's a doll herself. Her species is "Curse god" (compare with Medicine's "Doll"), and of the hundreds of pictures of fan-art I've seen of her I can only think of one or two that have her exhibiting a doll's physical traits. I can't remember it ever being alluded to in doujins either.
Anyway, Hina if she's a doll, otherwise it's pretty much Medicine by default.
-
Hina.
-
Hina for graceful spinning <3
-
Goliath Doll
Giant swords woot
-
Hina if she's a doll, otherwise it's pretty much Medicine by default.
Then HM to Shanghai >w<
-
Shanghai
Who else is going to guide Alice when she has a hat stuck to her face?
-
Medicine, for she shall unite all of dollkind, and there shall be a party! With poison cake!
-
I really don't think Hina is a doll. :\
Even if she was, Shanghai what is wrong with you people? Even my sister, who thinks I'm a weirdo for liking Touhou and enjoys calling me a lolicon (she's a yaoi fangirl BTW) thinks Shanghai is adorable. Honorable mention goes to GOLIATH DOLL, second only to the Yin-yang orb on badass non-living objects in Touhou.
-
Kogasa. Or rather, the possibly-meat puppet holding the umbrella that is actually Kogasa.
Close enough for me :V
-
Oh fuck I forgot Goliath Doll
If Hina is DQed I change my vote to her
-
Medicine~
-
Kyoto. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uAy0CeZA4w)
Honorable mentions to France, Holland, Tibet, London, Russia, and Orleans.
-
Kyoto. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uAy0CeZA4w)
Honorable mentions to France, Holland, Tibet, London, Russia, and Orleans.
No way, Orleans is an asshole. Russia and Kyoto are pretty cool, but I'm not terribly familiar with the others.
-
Medicine.
There is no other correct answer.
-
Hina.
-
Oh fuck I forgot Goliath Doll
If Hina is DQed I change my vote to her
-
Kyoto. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uAy0CeZA4w)
-
Hina
-
The Phantasmagoria games are complete crap.
What is your favorite Stage 6 (stage portion only)?
I like LLS's, myself. It gives you full power, a life, and a bomb, and plays Dream Land. Pretty awesome, if you ask me.
-
Tie between PCB (ULTIMATE TRUTH FUCK YEAH) and MS (lolshort).
-
EoSD the only one I reached the final stage on any difficulty other than easy
-
UFO's (You Know Why)
-
None of them are all that amazing, to be honest(discounting the music, of course).
That being said, Eternal Meek is pretty fuckin' awesome so EoSD can take my vote.
-
Dream Land...
I honestly typed that instead of "Lotus Land Story." Freudian slip anyone? :V
Also anyone who honestly says Story of Eastern Wonderland (counting stage 5 as stage 6) deserves a punch in the face.
-
UFO, because FIRES OF MOTHERFUCKING HOKKAI and the cute Space Invaders throwback.
-
UFO has the Space Invaders fairies, EoSD has Eternal Meek, IN has the twin deathfairies....... tough call.
-
SA. Mostly because of Hellfire Mantle.
-
EoSD because it's short and sweet and isn't all that bad. I like easy stages before the final boss. ;D
Also, bonus points for Sakuya breaking the 4th wall: "I at least have to make you waste a bomb!"
-
IN, the background is quite beautiful for IN.
-
PCB's spam is short and
bomb sweet, but I'm giving it to UFO because of the atmosphere (love Hokkai) and the Space Invader fairies.
Dishonourable mention to SA for an almost literal streaming hell.
-
UFO, for being the only one that isn't bland and bleh.
-
Space invaders!
silence..... *drum beating*..... HOLY SHIT BULLET HELL
-
SA's, because mini-BoWaP enemies are awesome. :V
-
PCB
For the absurd factor. :V
-
PCB for Ultimate Truth and fun Youmu fight.
-
IN.
I really like the background/plot leadup, it's so pretty!
-
PCB for Ultimate Truth and fun Youmu fight.
This.
ULTIMATE TRUTH FUCK YEAR
I sometimes time out Youmu's card just to hear the song :V
-
MS.
Do you know why? It's because the only thing that happens in stage six is four waves of fairies that line up at the top of the screen for you to shoot them down and get powerups right before the Shinki fight. It's the easiest stage 6 in the series :V
-
Imperishable Night's "Five Impossible Requests" for Voyage 1969, the beautiful moon/mansion background, the raining fairies of doom, and a midboss that's actually challenging.
-
Darkwing Duck is freakin' awesome.
What is your favorite Stage 1 Boss theme?
I fully expect aTTCC to rock this question. I, however, will very narrowly say She's In A Temper!! Honestly, the S1 bosses are pretty bland stuff.
-
Decoration Battle. No question.
-
The unused version of Decoration Battle. (http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm5973601) Anything anyone else says is WRONG WRONG WRONG. Honorable mention goes to Because Princess Inada is Scolding me and Lost Place.
-
Magic Formation ~ Magic Square wins it for me.
-
Lost Place.
ATTCC is the MegaMan X8 of Touhou.
-
I hate them all.
-
They're all terrible. I can't bring myself to like a single one of them. :|
oh lol Azinth beat me to it
-
It was The Sealed-Away Youkai ~ Lost Place but then UFO has to break it with A Tiny Tiny Clever Commander.
-
Anyone that hates Apparitions Stalk the Night needs to play Super Marisa World.
-
How come no one mentioned Mooned Insect ?
-
Because Crystallized Silver is better.
-
Yamame's (lol I forgot the name).
-
For me, It would have to be Because Princess Inada is Scolding me or Tiny Tiny Clever Commander.
-
Tiny Tiny Clever Commander is the best windo-*shot*
-
Lost Place. Semi-honourable mentions to ATTCC and Decoration Battle.
-
Seeing as how I hear these most often I find pretty much all of them awesome, so I'll just say all of them with the sole exception of Rika's "She's in a Temper!!", because it gets repetative right from the freaking start and gives me a migrane every time I hear it.
-
Apparitions Stalk the Night
IMO Magic Square is ear rape (well I play with Next)
-
I'll go with Lost Place as well.
-
I have to say this, Because Princess Inada is Scolding me.
:V
-
A Tiny Tiny Clever Commander.
-
I'll go with Crystallized Silver here. This was the first Touhou boss song I ever heard and I have a special place for it. Somehow like the midi version better. :P
Also I just heard a midi Necrofantasia.
I laughed. :V
-
A Tiny, Tiny, Clever Commander.
Because it's the only St. 1 boss theme that I remembered in my first playthrough. It's still awesome regardless.
-
Crystallized Silver
-
Tiny Tiny Clever Commander is completely terrible and I have no idea why everyone likes it.
Goin' with Crystallized Silver here.
-
Tiny Tiny Clever Commander is completely terrible and I have no idea why everyone likes it.
Goin' with Crystallized Silver here.
Epic intro. All other songs sound uninteresting.
-
All the other songs suck, because princess inada is scolding me...
-
Mooned Insect is one of my favorite songs in the entire series.
-
Because Princess Inada is Scolding Me.
It's the only first-boss song I hum along to while playing the game. :V
Honorable mention to She's In a Temper!! because Rika is awesome.
-
Augh Touhouvania Suika why do your explody bullets take off over half my health whyyyyy
What is your favorite stage background?
One of the awesome and overlooked aspects of Touhou are the ambiance of the stages. Admittedly, they're overlooked because AUGH BULLETS EVERYWHERE, but they're still quite pretty. I'm going with IN's stage 6; the corridor stretching to the stars is awesome. HMs to SA Stage 4 (the Palace of the Earth Spirits is a pretty pretty place) and Stage 6 (HELL. A sea of flame is hard to beat).
-
Flawless Fortress: The Untrodden Valley.
lol using stage names
That's Mountain of Faith stage 3 by the way.
<333 autumn scene
-
Yeah I'm also going with MoF stage 3. Stage that made Touhou more than just a one or two time playthrough and all.
-
MoF stage 3 is purdy
-
IN stage 6.
There are plenty of awesome ones, but nothing else is really screaming out to me right now.
-
Touhou stages have backgrounds!? :o
-
IN Stage 1, since it moves with you :V (Seriously, pay attention to those tiny little things floating there, they get out of your way when you move)
Honorable mention to SA stage 6
-
IN Stage 1, since it moves with you :V (Seriously, pay attention to those tiny little things floating there, they get out of your way when you move)
Ooh, I've noticed that before. :P
I like MoF Stage 4 during boss - quite surprising, since I dislike Aya as a boss, but her nonspell background is pretty.
Runner-ups: IN Stage 6 during boss (I actually find the endless corridor a bit repetitive, but then again, it's an endless corridor); IN Stage 3 (parallax o_o); SA Stage 6 during boss (a star underground omgwtfbbq).
-
The Hakugyokurou staircase. No contest.
Honorable mention to Shikieiki's boss summon which comes with Michelangelo's "The Last Judgement" fresco from the Sistine Chapel as its background.
-
tough one, I sort of like the Waterfall stage in MoF Stage 4.
If you count fan games, CtC's final stage where you battle in absolute nothingness.
-
I've always liked UFO Stage 3 for the GIANT SHIP flying around in the background as Ichirin tosses giant fists at you.
-
SA Stage 4 sticks out in my mind the most right now. IN Stages 5 and 6, MoF Stage 4 and UFO Stage 6 all get honorable mentions, as does the very end of PCB Stage 4.
-
MoF Stage 3 is beautiful.
HM to SA Stage 4, MoF Stage 4 and IN Stage 6.
-
Unoriginal answer, but it has to be MoF Stage 3. HMs to MoF Stage 4 and SA Stage 4.
-
I'd have to go with Stage 6 IN. I always thought it was so cool how the background changes when you fight Eirin. Stage 6 UFO and Stage 4 PCB would have to follow behind that.
-
At the moment my 3 favourites are:
- SA stage 2, The Bridge People No Longer Cross [Parsee stage]
- MOF, Stage 3, The Gensokyo the Gods Loved [Nitori stage]
-MOF, Stage 4, Fall of Fall ~ Autumnall Waterfall [Aya/Momozi stage]
-
IN stage 3. Love the traditional japanese artwork for the village. Also the backgrounds when fighting Keine are awesome.
-
IN Stage 6B. Just you, the corridor and danmaku.
HM to SA Stage 5 and 6. I love the effects.
-
Anything that has a moving 3D background that isn't just a staircase or a hallway.
Excluding EoSD if it has any since it sucks.
-
MoF Stage 1. Fall flew right through my eyes... it feels like you're really flying over fall-y atmosphere at that high altitude... and it gives Acrophobic trigger to some extent >_<...
HM to the rest of MoF (... now that I think about it, I haven't seen Sanae's stage thoroughly yet)
, IN Stage 6 (paired with the fast-paced BGmusic is just...awesome, it's like "Space is just behind your traditional Japanese corridor--and you're coming in with us... NOW.")
, PoFV Komachi Stage, and
IN Stage 1, since it moves with you :V (Seriously, pay attention to those tiny little things floating there, they get out of your way when you move)
The rest especially SA and UFO because I can only play them under time pressure
, well...
Touhou stages have backgrounds!? :o
What is your favorite Stage 1 Boss theme?
Wriggle's Mooned Insect gets this one. Absolutely loved it immediately in my first IN playthrough. It's a theme for a racing game, I later thought xD.
HM to Letty's Crystallized Silver and Nazrin's Tiny, Tiny Clever Commander, Because Princess Inada Is Scolding Me.
Nazrin's and Wriggle's themes play much longer than the other stage 1 themes.
-
What is your favorite stage background?
The Red and Black Seal of the Underworld, UFO S5. Simply too beautiful to describe.
lol using stage names
Fuck year
-
EoSD Stage 2 with the retexture patch MoF Stage 3 is just beyond beautiful. Honorable mention to MoF Stage 1 as well :V
-
SA Stage 4 :V
-
If you count fan games, CtC's final stage where you battle in absolute nothingness.
I'm changing my answer if this counts.
-
Twinkle Star Sprites is a silly, silly game.
What is your favorite Stage 5 Boss theme?
This isn't even really a question for me; Luna Dial is still my favorite theme in all of Touhou. To give second place, though, I'd say an easy Sleeping Terror, with Sanae's coming in third.
-
Lunatic Eyes~Invisible Full Moon
-
Invisible full moon. It was probably the first touhou song I had ever heard (My first fight against Reisen went a little like "Oh godohgodohgod don't get hit, don't get- WHAT? Phasing bullets?! What is thiiiis- OH DAMMIT! That was- wait... didn't I hear this in that automatic Mario vid? Sweet!")
-
Faith is for the Transient People. Sleeping Terror and The Tiger-Patterned Vaisravana (NOT Bishamounten) get honorable mentions.
-
Corpse Voyage ~ Be of good cheer ! Best Stage 5 theme and worst Stage 5 fight. Ironic ?
HM to Faith is for the Transient People and The Tiger-Patterned Vaisravana.
-
Corpse Voyage ~ Be of good cheer! is one of my favorite themes in the series.
-
Faith is for the Transient People, musically, though Till When? definitely goes amazingly well with Youmu's fight.
And yes, honorable mention to Sleeping Terror. Complete Darkness too <_< >_> Can't forget Luna Dial either.
-
I don't really like any Stage 5 Boss Theme in particular, but Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon is the nicest out of all of them.
-
It's got to be "Corpse Voyage ~ Be of good cheer!" for me. I actually don't find "Faith is for Transient People" or "Luna Dial" to be that spectacular, and I don't know any other Stage 5 boss themes.
-
Faith is for the Transient People I guess. In contrast with their stage portions, stage 5 boss themes are generally pretty bad.
-
Hiroari Shoots A Strange Bird ~ Till When?
As if this was really a contest. Come on guys give me a hard question.
-
Till When for the Windows games and Sleeping Terror for the PC-98 games. :V
-
Till When for the Windows games
i c wut u did thar. :V
-
stage 5 boss themes are generally pretty bad.
Clearly you must die now.
-
In contrast with their stage portions, stage 5 boss themes are generally pretty bad.
Yeah, I don't like them. Not even Sanae's. Though Orin's theme is good in that El Dorado Lullaby of Deserted Hell arrange, when the two themes are mixed together.
-
Yeah, I don't like them. Not even Sanae's. Though Orin's theme is good in that El Dorado Lullaby of Deserted Hell arrange, when the two themes are mixed together.
Ooh, 'tis. One of the better tracks on that album (though the best is the MoF Extra arrange).
But yeah, Sakuya and Yuka aside, S5 bosses are kind of meh.
-
Luna dial by far!
-
...
Complete Darkness.
:V V:
If that doesn't count it's pretty much a tie between Till When (Both the original and the CtC theme YES IT COUNTS), Be of Good Cheer and Sleeping terror, with HM to everything else.
-
Ack, ah well. Guess I'd better take a listening to Shou's theme today.
*takes several minutes of listening*
... uhh, ok... that sounds... lacking in tension... though some of the piano part is OK... and then some :V
Anyway, Faith is for Sanae to Spread Transient People, because Complete Darkness is covering the PC-98 category (I couldn't take not separating the two classes of BGM now). HM to Till When and Be of good cheer!.
In contrast with their stage portions, stage 5 boss themes are generally pretty bad.
Though I do like the two stage5 BGM tops of mine, I would like to kinda agree on that.
Though Orin's theme is good in that El Dorado Lullaby of Deserted Hell arrange, when the two themes are mixed together.
wha... wha... *searches* >w<
-
Luna Dial.
I once listened to this tune for about an hour straight, even though it loops after less than two minutes. I am still not tired of it. That's how awesome it is.
Hounorable mention to The Tiger-Patterned Whatever, which also kicks much ass. Actually, pretty much all the stage 5 boss themes kick extraordinary amounts of ass, except for maybe Be Of Good Cheer. That one is good, too, but it is more of a partying or chill-out theme compared to the now-you're-gonna-die-ness of the others.
Yes, of course "now-you're-gonna-die-ness" is a word. Why do you ask?
-
Faith is for the Transient People
Honestly, I couldn't care less for the other Stage 5 themes. Sanae's theme is the only one that catches my attenrion.
Dishonorable mention to Luna Dial as it's a piece of shit like a majority of EoSD themes. In fact it's the worst of them all IMO.
-
I agree. Luna Dial is my least favorite Stage 5 boss theme (though it started out pretty good) :(
*flees*
-
Tiger Patterned Vaisravana with Sanae's taking the second place.
-
I agree. Luna Dial is my least favorite Stage 5 boss theme (though it started out pretty good) :(
*flees*
I'm loving you more and more now.
/me hugs FG
-
I'll go with Sleeping Terror, why not?
-
Lunatic Eyes - Invisible Full Moon
HM to Faith is for the Transient People
-
In contrast with their stage portions, stage 5 boss themes are generally pretty bad.
Sez you. =V
Reisen and Sanae win out with their themes, though Yuka, Youmu, and Shou manage to have some pretty epic ones of their own.
-
Faith is for Transient People is the best song in the series and any other answer is wrong :V
-
Invisible Full Moon.
Honorable Mention: Faith is For the Transistent People.
-
OK, Gpop is dead. Formless God, you get a stay of execution pending you drawing a freakin' awesome Sakuya. And Iryan should get IP at least. :V
-
I can never vote for these as I can't really choose favorites. It's all great.
Except for PC98 for this one. Those ones don't compare to the Windows games at all. And as mentioned, I can't choose one for those.
-
OK, Gpop is dead. Formless God, you get a stay of execution pending you drawing a freakin' awesome Sakuya. And Iryan should get IP at least. :V
Should I also mention that Sakuya is one my second-least favourite character out there? (Only better than Eirin)
Welp, I just did :V
-
Should I also mention that Sakuya is one my second-least favourite character out there? (Only better than Eirin)
Welp, I just did :V
You're not making your death any less painful, you know.
-
Hooray for Sakuya haters! Let us rise up and strike down the...um...Sakuya fans! \o\
I like Sakuya.
I don't think Luna Dial is anything special at all, though. Bottom tier ZUN song.
-
I WILL KILL EVERYONE IN THIS TOPIC
-
I WILL KILL EVERYONE IN THIS TOPIC
Hey, don't kill me D: I like Luna Dial, and Sakuya... ;_;
-
Tiger Patterned Vaisravana for Windows Games
Sleeping Terror for PC 98
-
Faith is for the Transient People. Sleeping Terror comes in a very close second.
Till When sucks because it makes Ancient Temple stop. >_>
-
Luna Dial was here. Sakuya is fucking awesome and the only redemptive part of EoSD, aside from Meiling's existence, is her boss fight.
Honorable mentions to Tiger-Patterened Vaisravana and Faith is for the Transient People. And because I think it should count, Sailor of Time wins in the PC-98 category.
Completely dishonorable mention to Doll of Misery, which sucks.
-
Luna Dial was here. Sakuya is fucking awesome and the only redemptive part of EoSD, aside from Meiling's existence, is her boss fight.
There are so many things wrong with this statement. :V
-
Completely dishonorable mention to Doll of Misery, which sucks.
I'm going to hurt you so hard
I'll go with either Doll of Misery (not just because of above comment, either) or Youmu's theme. Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird ~ Till When? or something, too lazy to look up the name :V
Speaking of Yumeko and her theme, am I the only one who has theorized that Yumeko=Sakuya before Remilia changes her destiny?
-
Speaking of Yumeko and her theme, am I the only one who has theorized that Yumeko=Sakuya before Remilia changes her destiny?
No, and you're still wrong :V
And only half of Doll of Misery sucks; the opening, dissonant part is just not easy on the ears any way you look at it. The second major part is pretty good, though.
-
Assuming Magical Girls' Crusade doesn't exist because I feel like talking about something else for once,
My vote goes to Tiger-Patterned Vaisravana, my personal favorite boss theme from UFO(Cosmic Mind is overrated and I fucking hate Heian Alien). I love the chromatic passage leading up to the recap of the main theme. HM to Doll of Misery, an incredibly underrated and excellent track (the intro is awesome, what are you talking about).
As for Sakuya, she's pretty cool, but there are better maids out there~
-
Just for the record
I HATE LUNA DIAL
I don't really mind Sakuya except she's a horrible playable char in PCB.
-
Just for the record
I HATE LUNA DIAL
I don't really mind Sakuya except she's a horrible playable char in PCB.
*gasps*
INFIDEL!
-
All the stage 5 boss themes in order of favorite to least favorite.
Sleeping Terror
Complete Darkness
Corpse Voyage ~ Be of good cheer!
The Tiger-Patterned Vaisravana
Doll of Misery
Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon
Faith is for the Transient People
Hiroari Shoots a Strange Bird ~ Till When?
Lunar Clock ~ Luna Dial
Honorable mention to Magical Girl's Crusade <3
I'm not really fond of Luna Dial because it sounds a bit messy. =/ But it's grown on me a little.
-
I love pretty much all of them, but Doll of Misery edges out a victory handily. :V
-
I'm not really fond of Luna Dial because it sounds a bit messy. =/ But it's grown on me a little.
Luna Dial is a complete mess. It's a mishmash of sounds intended to vaguely create a melody. Admittedly, it probably suffers the worst out of all EoSD's music from lolsynthesizer, which is one of the main reasons it's so...I don't want to say bad but...
Like, listen to the IaMP version of Luna Dial (I can't believe I'm actually recommending an IaMP song). It's much easier on the ears because the instruments don't sound terrible and the melodies are much more distinct.
Luna Dial probably is my least favorite Stage 5 boss track, now that I think about i- oh wait, forgot Be of Good Cheer.
-

EoSD's synthesizers isn't even a good excuse for it's fuckmash. The fact that the mash of what the fuck is going on is actually a terrible first attempt for ZUN to try.
Now let's compare it with Phantom Ensemble. It also sounds like a mash of instruments, but waddaya know? It sounds great! It sounds like it makes sense! THAT is a perfect example of a mash that works.
-
I've heard some good arrangements of Sanae's theme, but not the actual song yet, so I can't include it.
For now, I'll say Till When?
-
I'm not writing my paper due tomorrow morning~
What is your favorite Midboss Spell Card?
Nice and open-ended. I'm going with Eternal Meek for being ridiculous, with an HM to Youkai Wheel for inducing seizures and a DHM to Catwalk for being ridiculous without the fun part.
-
I thought it was Blazing Wheel, not Youkai Wheel. v;
Anyway, that.
-
Definitely going to be Youkai「Blazing Wheel」.
Honorable mentions to Moon Sign「Moonlight Ray」and Large Ring「Umbrella Halo」.
Dishonorable mentions to Flower Sign「Gorgeous Sweet Flower」and Bad Luck Sign「Bad Fortune」because I hate them.
-
I thought it was Blazing Wheel, not Youkai Wheel. v;
Yeah, turns out it's Youkai "Blazing Wheel". Close enough.
-
I've always liked Gorgeous Sweet Flower. :V
-
Well, Eternal Meek is one of my top 3 favorite spellcards, so...
And if Asteroid Belt counts as a midboss spell, then HM to that too.
-
CATWALK GREATEST TREASURE LLS STAGE 4 MIDBOSS
I dunno, probably Eternal Meek.
-
LLS STAGE 4 MIDBOSS
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF---
-
EVENT HORIZON. :V
HM to Eternal Meek, Hungry King Sword, Gray Thaumaturgy (because it sounds better), Midboss!Yuugi and Greatest Treasure.
DHM to Brofists.
OK, Gpop is dead. Formless God, you get a stay of execution pending you drawing a freakin' awesome Sakuya. And Iryan should get IP at least. :V
*checks character list*
Ah ... Sakuya's there. Please wait warmly :V
-
Returning-Bridge Ichijou because it the concept is cool, it looks awesome, and I managed to clear it on my first try, but never again.
-
Hm... What to choose? Frost Columns? Falling Leaves of Madness? Gorgeous Sweet Flower? Gah, I dunno...
-
Jeweled Pagoda "Greatest Treasure" on all difficulties.
-
Like all "favourite SC" questions, my answer will always be "whatever I can dodge".
-
Jeweled Padoga "Greatest Treasure"
Eternal Meek

Midboss Spell Card
THIS ISN'T THAT HARD PEOPLE
I MEAN COME ON
also, once again, next post gets tonight's question in 9.5 hours
-
Secretly Inherited Art of Danmaku
I love Sanae more than I can explain
-
Eternal Meek. Honorable mention to SoEW's stage 4 midboss fairy - her two appearances are the only parts of the game I found really fun.
Well, that and Rika's proto-Eternal Meek. :V
-
None of the midboss attacks are that memorable for me...Kogasa's midboss card on Hard and Lunatic is pretty fun, though, so I'll vote for that.
Honorable mention to Moon Sign [Silent Selene] because the name is so damn pretty.
Dishonorable mention to Eirin's [_____ in a Pot] cards in IN and PoFV Lily White.
-
Since nobody noticed what theshim said, I'll take this one again:
What is your favorite unused song?
Now, because I'm psychic and know what you're all about to say, here you go:

What are you talking about? This is not a not-so-subtle attempt to give PC-98 more exposure, don't be ridiculous! ;>_>
Two songs from SoEW, Sunfall and Sealed Demon's Finale, aren't linked because I could not find them anywhere on Youtube or Nicovideo. They aren't that good anyway...
Anyways, my favorite is Dreamy Pilot. It doesn't sound like game music, but as a stand-alone piece it is fantastic. Honorable mention to Hakurei Shrine Grounds.
-
Border land and dreamy Pilot
-
Since nobody noticed what theshim said, I'll take this one again
Ah, so you "covered for me" last week as well then I take it? Well, I should find someway to repay you for that. If interested, you have about 10 days to think of something and I'll try to meet the request. There are some things that I won't do though, so keep that in mind if you're going to go through with this.
Anyways, for the current question, I'm going to say Starbow Break and Phantasmagoria.
...And no, I won't be around for next week I don't think (read: cover for me again). That's like Christmas and it's family gathering time and such.
-
tl;dr
-
Aye, last time I asked people of their favorite DiPP track.
And a request~? Meet me in the alley after dark and we'll discuss I'll find some way to exploit you, rest assured. :>
BTW, lol "Starbow Break."
-
Took a while for me to listen to all of them, but I'd have to say Crescent Dream. It was intended for staff roll, and I think it fits perfectly. But ZUN said it's not STG-esque... :V
-
*picks one from a windows game just to be evil*
Actually, I'll go with Magic Shop of Raspberry.
You know, someone should really record the stages during the games these were meant to play during and play them in place of the normal theme, just to see how they work out. I find this one a lot better than The Inevitably Forbidden Game.
-
Shrine of the Wind from HRtP is just lovely :V
-
Crescent Dream. Just... Crescent Dream...
-
Hakurei Shrine Grounds is just lovely :V
-
Incomplete Plot plz.
-
Considering that I had Winds of Time favorited before this question was asked... :V
I listened to the rest and it still hasn't changed, going with Winds of Time.
-
Hmm... I kinda like Wind of Time, because the melody is similar to Eastern Wind's melody, and I'm infamous for actually liking Eastern Wind (SoEW version too, but the CtC version is superior.)
Also, Crescent Dream.
-
Crescent Dream, Border Land and Hakurei Shrine Grounds. On that order.
-
Almost completely forgot about this. :V
This gave me a good excuse to actually listen to these for once.
Hakurei Shrine Grounds is very nice. Why ZUN choose the what is now the stage 1 theme eludes me.
Winds of Time, Dreamy Pilot and Phantasmagoria are also very good.
-
Some very nice ones, and HMs go to Magic Shop of Raspberry and Dreamy Pilot, but Incomplete Plot has to take this one for me.
-
This week is hell.
What is your favorite Touhou fangame?
I give this one to MegaMari for being so true to things, but HMs go to CtC, Touhouvania and Mystical Chain. And PatchCon for adorability.
-
Mystical Chain. Without any doubt in my mind.
-
Touhou Soujiki. I remain that game's sole fan, but it is awesome and comes with great music. I just love the concept of Reimu literally sweeping her way through stages, and the final stage music is terrific.
Touhou Battle Gaiden gets an honorable mention because holy god that Flowering Night remix is the best I've ever heard, and tetris is just plain fun.
-
I don't actually know a lot...I don't have Touhou Labyrinth, CtC gets old pretty fast (and has terrible spell practice), I'm terrible at MegaMari and Mystical Chain, don't have the patience for PatchCon...
Wait, Touhou Battle Gaiden! <3
-
Concealed the Conclusion because it has danmaku. Lots of them :V
HM to Mystical Chain and SoBa- *clipdeaths*
-
I've only played CtC and just a little bit of Mystical Chain, so... Gonna have to go with CtC here.
-
I've only played CtC, Soujiki (sorry Ruro, the game just isn't my thing. :(), and Megamari, so my vote goes to Megamari pretty much by default.
-
Touhoumon Lunatic. Touhou Labyrinth. Concealed the Conclusion for Phantasm Theme. HM to Megamari. it's kinda awkward for me but it's still fun.
-
I've played several but the only ones I remember are CtC (pretty good but not something I feel like ever playing again), MegaMari, which I can't beat a single level on no matter how close I may get (DAMN REIMU), and Touhou Labyrinth, which I'm in love with at the moment.
So yeah, Touhou Labyrinth.
Oh wait, and honorable mention to Touhoumon.
-
The only one I've played is Mystical Chain, but it's pretty awesome so I'll go with that.
-
Marisa & Alice?
Yay puzzle games?
-
PatchCon... Its awesome to control make little nitoris to Fire Three Sets of Cucumbers at your enemys!
-
Torn between Megamari and Mystical Chain. Probably Megamari by a nekomata's whisker.
-
Touhou Labyrinth for rage-inducing entertainment and portraits that are ridiculous.
-
Am I the only one who didn't bother with any fangames? :V
-
Touhoumon, since it's the only one I played :D
-
Am I the only one who didn't bother with any fangames? :V
I've never played one, ever.
-
MegaMari, because I love Megaman, so Megaman + Touhou = <3
-
I've only ever played Touhou Mother, and that was when I was just starting to get into Touhou so I didn't know who half the characters were but I love me the Mother series so it'd probably be my favorite even when I start figuring out how to play the other ones.
-
I don't play many fangames except for CtC and Mystical Chain. I'm gonna go with CtC here.
Looking at C77 though, I may try a few others.
-
CtC.
HM to Mystical Chain.
-
Touhoumon, HM's to Touhou Soccer 2 and CtC
-
MariAri is a pretty fun game. That is untill you get to world 8 that is.
The story of Touhou Mother was also pretty interesting if you have played both series.
Haven't played much of touhou splinter cell code-r, but it looks pretty interesting so far.
-
Mystical Chain by far.
HM to Megamari.
-
Touhouvania, since i'm such a castlevania nut. HMs go to MegaMari and Touhou Labyrinth.
Can't say anything about touhoumon as I can't find a working copy.
-
Megamari.
-
PatchCon's the only one I've played, so... :V
-
Something quick and blarg because OHGOD FINALS
What is your favorite Main Menu Theme?
I go with UFO's for this one. HMs to LLS and MoF.
-
SA
-
UNL's Did You See That Shadow?, with SWR's Sky of Scarlet Perception close behind. None of the shooter games' title themes even come close.
-
Memory of Foregathering Dream easily. Honorable mention goes to the ones in MoF and UFO.
-
Durr, foolish. Clearly, IaMP's is the best, changing mine.
-
UNL's.
-
Yeah, definitely going with UNL for this one.
-
IaMP's/UNL's beat the living ZUN out of all the others.
-
IN
HM to IaMP/SWR and DM for UNL, SWR title screen was sadly better
-
UNL because it's the only one I remember. :V
-
Megamari.
I am agree with you, Megamari is pwnsome
-
UNL
With IaMP following as it was the first theme I ever heard. Nostalgic every time I hear it.
-
What is your favorite Touhou fangame?
Missed this yesterday.
SUPER
MOTHERFUCKING
MARISA
WORLD
HELL YEAH.
As for today's question: MegaMari.
-
Hisoutensoku's menu theme is pretty.
-
IN.
Just because I love all of the IN music.
-
UNL's and IN's are the only two I actually remember, and UNL's is by far the better one.
-
UNL's, but UFO's is pretty nice too.
-
Imperishable Night's and Subterranean Animism's for sake of being incredibly catchy.
If fangames count Megamari's theme is also up there.
EDIT: Though on that subject, aren't the windows title themes remixes of Theme of Eastern Story from Highly Responsive to Prayers?
-
IaMP's is unquestionably the best.
-
Record of the Sealing of an Oriental Demon ~ Pure Land Mandala.
Title theme of The Story of Eastern Wonderland.
Honorable mention to Wondrous Romance ~ Mystic Square (which game it's from should be obvious).
-
IaMP's/UNL's beat the living ZUN out of all the others.
HM to every Windows Touhou Main Themes, as all of them are the same melody.
-
PCB, but only on MIDI. First Touhou song I ever heard, and the MIDI version is waaaaaaaaaay better than the WAV version.
I don't actually like UNL's, it just got old after a while. ):
-
EDIT: Though on that subject, aren't the windows title themes remixes of Theme of Eastern Story from Highly Responsive to Prayers?
That was a song released exclusively for Akyu's Untouched Soundtrack, it did not exist in the original. Since you brought it up though, everyone should know the real song the main theme originated from:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XowjA4jhbdE
-
Evening Sky (Arrange) blows everything else out of the water.
HM to Imperishable Night and MoF's main menu themes.
-

Wow, I never even realized how incredibly similar the themes were to this song while playing this stage.
Anyway, my pick is UFO. Only one I've actually listened to for the sake of simply listening to it x3
-
GAH FREAKIN' SONOFA--
What is your least favorite Stage?
There are a lot of contenders for this one; MS S5, PCB S4, MoF S4, but right now this one goes hands down to EoSD STAGE FREAKIN' ONE. I'm having a worse time with it than I had with MoF's, what the hell?!
-
PCB stage 4
I hate it
HATE IT
HATE
-
EoSD stage 5.
So many runs ruined there...
-
Oh, let's see...
SoEW stage 1 for being painfully long and boring.
SoEW extra for AAAGGHGHGAGHAGGHHHH
IN stage 3 for soul-draining enemies and lackluster danmaku
SA stage 4 for nigh-unavoidable midboss danmaku, and a fight that makes me RAGE no matter what anyone else thinks of it.
But for me, there's only one real choice:
Jigoku route stage 17. I mean WTF those barriers are designed to smack the ball right onto loli-Reimu's little noggin and there's not a goddamn thing you can do about it since they're so close. Not only that, but unlike stage 16 (which I've never even TRIED), one bomb isn't enough to take everything out! D:
-
Patchy, Sakuya, Youmu, Yuyuko, Reisen, Parsee, Yuugi (lazors), Satori (MORE LAZORS and TALISMAN SPAM) and Ichirin.
-
Every stage 2 EVER
-
UFO everything. Well, apart from stage 1, and if we're not counting bosses, stage 6. But other than that, yeah, everything there makes me go "WHAT THE FREAKING HELL?!"
-
SA Extra.
ZUN should be utterly ashamed of that heap of compost.
-
UFO everything.
Basically this, but I will single out stage 3 for special mention. It is soul-crushing despair made flesh. Er, code.
-
IN stage 5, MoF stage 5, and SA stage 2 are all tied for most boring non-SoEW stage of all time.
HM to every stage from SoEW.
-
UFO EXTRA
-
UFO Extra is better than SA Extra.
Anyone that says any Extra that isn't SA Extra has clearly not played SA Extra.
-
UFO Extra is better than SoEW Extra.
Anyone that says any Extra that isn't SA Extra has clearly not played SoEW Extra.
Fixed. Play SoEW extra and tell me it isn't the epitome of unfun. TELL ME.
-
Fixed. Play SoEW extra and tell me it isn't the epitome of unfun. TELL ME.
Except SoEW extra is pure shit because of terrible mechanics, not because of actual content. :V
-
Oh yeah. Touhou extra stages are mostly pretty horrible. EoSD's and IN's are decent, but even they're way too inconsistent to make me want to really work on them.
Except SoEW extra is pure shit because of terrible mechanics, not because of actual content. :V
What does that matter? It still plays like shit.
-
EoSD stage 1 for bad music, bad design, bad background and a bad boss.
It's pretty bad.
-
Except SoEW extra is pure shit because of terrible mechanics, not because of actual content. :V
Even if the mechanics were good, that wouldn't excuse half the ass pulls that stage has.
-
Fixed. Play SoEW extra and tell me it isn't the epitome of unfun. TELL ME.
rofl asking me to play a pc-98 game
secret message to ruro this post is 100% not serious
sorry dudermang but we're talking about big kid games here
go back to playing on the teeter-totter, i'll be sure to pick you up once the basketball game is over
-
Even if the mechanics were good, that wouldn't excuse half the ass pulls that stage has.
There is a version that has far better hit detection and 'modern' Touhou mechanics, while keeping the original patterns (Well, ALMOST - they're not quite spot on)... the stage doesn't feel that threatening at all. It really is just the clunky hitbox detection and stuff that made the stage an ass.
[The boss however can go die in fifty fires, because even now I think that thing is a bitch]
Worst stage as a whole goes to... Yeah I'm gonna go with PCB Stage 4. It's so ridiculously, unnecessarily long and filled with FAR too much necessity on memorization to avoid being caught behind speedy bullet walls on -NORMAL-.
-
Let's see...
probably SA and MoF Stage 1 for making me RESTART SO MANY TIMES
Falling Leaves of Madness on Hard is the only spellcard that has a history of over 300 tries on it.
-
EoSD stage 1.
The fairies shoot like 1 bullet, Rumia is boring crap.
AND THE POWER ITEMS! ARGH! I can't reach all of them in time so half of them fall off the screen ._.
-
EoSD stage 1 for bad music...
... Uhh, just wanted to oppose the thought o_o;. Anyway, my opinion is
EoSD Stage 1 had weird, weird music for a Touhou stage theme... almost as if it's not from Touhou, probably because of the melody sounded in weird choices of instruments or instruments struck with weird composition of melody.
... but it's not bad x3.
Then, uhh, my least fav stage...
PCB Stage 4 because like Garlyle said I could only say UFO's 4th stage, pretty much because I haven't gone past through it yet :V. I can barely noticed and recognize the whole place I'm flying through. (SA's stage4 as well, but it has Satori in it, and the Castlevanian BGM)
-
I was quite unsure about this question, until
SoEW extra for AAAGGHGHGAGHAGGHHHH
-
I have a lot.
Anything from SA (Well, at least levels 1 and 2, the only ones I've ever SEEN.)
Patchy's Fun House of Innocence and Easiness ([/extremesarcasm])
And...
PCB Stage 4. Just... too boring.
-
Patchy's Fun House of Innocence and Easiness ([/extremesarcasm])
No need for sarcasm, it IS easy :V
no idea, probably UFO st3.
UFO extra is easily perfected.
-
No need for sarcasm, it IS easy :V
...
I'm actually having a hard time telling if you're joking...
But the murderous side of me is already screaming for your blood.
-
...
I'm actually having a hard time telling if you're joking...
But the murderous side of me is already screaming for your blood.
90% of the stage is streaming, with the 5%s being Koakuma and the books :V
-
I would mention SoEW, but I never really played it because of what people told me about it.
Son instead I'm gonna give to all of EoSD
Everything is shit. Gameplay, music, stages, bullet patterns, EVERYTHING.
Except Extra as it fares a bit better and it has somewhat better music, but it's still kinda shit :V
-

Oh hello no. You just made an enemy. :V
I would probably give this to anything from SoEW because I tried to play it and continued on Normal Stage 1 because of bullshit. :V

I find EoSD as one of the better ones because of the simplicity, it's just gimmickless danmaku. The bosses simply shoot bullets. No laser grids, no Parsee crap, no shrinking suns, just bullets which fly at you.
-
Giving this to SoEW is like blaming a legless dog that it can't compete in the dograces, so I'm giving this one to SA stage 2 because it's so mind numbingly boring.
-
I find EoSD as one of the better ones because of the simplicity, it's just gimmickless danmaku. The bosses simply shoot bullets. No laser grids, no Parsee crap, no shrinking suns, just bullets which fly at you.
Which is why it sucks. It definitely wasn't as thought out or even as good as the later games.
It's a good thing ZUN took some time off and took his time on PCB.
-
Stop giving me more reason to love you >_>
-
Gpop: u be trolling
So anyways, SA Extra. Only two good things are:
Last Remote(FUCK YEAH)
Sanae's third card
Rest is average or horribad(Hi half of Koishi's cards)
Oh, and this is not counting SoEW.
-
Which is why it sucks. It definitely wasn't as thought out or even as good as the later games.
It's a good thing ZUN took some time off and took his time on PCB.
Guess that's what splits touhou fans and shmup players. :V
-
Stop giving me more reason to love you >_>
Ditto <3
-
Mmm ... then again I prefer the simple patterns more. At least it isn't like all those laser / anchors / BROFIST spam like in the other games.
The music is good, I know, but they don't sound good in EoSD.
I don't give much attention to the graphics. The backgrounds make the bullets more visible though, which is a plus.
But all in all the other games did better :V
-

I will admit that in terms of bullet patterns in UFO, the brofists/anchors weren't all that great, but they were original compared to the other games. Still, it isn't all that fun to play in general.
Lasers are pretty annoying too, but tbh they're not as annoying as OMGREALLYSMALLWHITEBULLETSIDIDN'TSEEITARGH! Seriously those things are really retarded.
-
UFO EXTRA
I hate this stage so much I'm voting for it twice :V
Also I love EoSD's for being so simple. It really is just things shooting bullets at you, without having to keep track of Cherries or UFOs or whether or not you're a ghost.
-
Which is why it sucks. It definitely wasn't as thought out or even as good as the later games.
Wait, making a game based on skill instead of gimmick memorization is the wrong idea?
wat
-
EoSD Stage 5, and maybe UFO Extra. And you all know that I never played SA Extra, because I can't unlock it.
-
Wait, making a game based on skill instead of gimmick memorization is the wrong idea?
wat
No.
-
SA stage 5 and UFO stage 6 (though not necessarily the stage portion)
UFO Extra is better than SA Extra.
Anyone that says any Extra that isn't SA Extra has clearly not played SA Extra.
What's wrong with SA Extra? It's not my favorite, but outside of Genetics of the Subconscious and Philosophy of a Hated Person I don't see anything wrong with it.
-
Freakin' hell. To everything.
What is your favorite theme from Scarlet Weather Rhapsody?
SWR has some awesome music, for sure. The best, though, I award to Flawless Clothing of the Celestials, for awesome. HMs go to Dancing Splashes/Fragrant Plants, Evening Oriental Sky, and Ridiculous Game. Oh, and Riverside View, for originality, and the very beginning.
-
Casket of Star.
OH GOD THAT IS DELICIOUS GUITAR!
-
The obvious answer is Wonderful Heaven
since it's the only track from SWR that I've heard more than once or twice
.
-
Casket of Star.
OH GOD THAT IS DELICIOUS GUITAR!
So very much this. Oh so FREAKING very much.
-
Sticking strictly to the original themes in SWR, I'd say my favorite is Flawless Clothing of the Celestials. It sounds really regal and heaven-y and is a fitting theme for Bhava-agra (although not as much for Tenshi, but I never considered it as Tenshi's theme anyway). Second place goes to Swing a Fish to Drive Away Flies, which sounds so completely carefree and suits Komachi's laziness very well.
In the remixes section, it would definitely be The Doll Maker of Bucuresti, for the jazz and the typewriter, with second place going to Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon for being catchy. Dishonorable mention to Night Falls ~ Evening Star, because there's too much accordion which gets a little obnoxious.
-
Evening Star
I'm the only one who likes it ;_;
-
I'd be wrong if I don't give it to Higan Retour ~ Riverside View because of its accordion.
-
Original: Catastrophe in Bhava-agra ~ Wonderful Heaven
--HM: Ridiculous Game; Oriental Evening Sky
Remix: Locked Girl ~ The Girl's Secret Room
--HM: Flowering Night; Broken Moon
-
SWR had notably underwhelming music now that I think about it.
Casket of Star is probably the winner here, with Border of Life the runner-up. Jazzy Yuyuko is amusing.
-
SWR had notably underwhelming music now that I think about it.
Ah ha ha ha ha.
Anyway, Bhava-agra as seen through a child's eyes takes this easily. Honorable mentions go to...a lot. Wonderful Heaven (screw you all, it's better than Missing Power), Broken Moon, Darkening Dusk, The Ground's Color is Yellow, Dancing Water Spray, Mystic Oriental Love Consultation, Invisible Full Moon (better than the original IMO)...the list goes on.
-
SWR had notably underwhelming music now that I think about it.
What in blue blazes is wrong with you
This goes to my former favourite song in all of Touhou, Oriental Evening Sky. It lost out to Eternal Steam Engine overnight when UNL was released, but it is still by far one of my favourites. Props to Border of Life, as jazzy Yuyuko is indeed amusing.
-
SWR had notably underwhelming music now that I think about it.
Agreed. Not all of it of course, but a good deal of it didn't really seem like anything that special.
-
No, seriously, what am I missing here.
- Reimu's Theme I can't name (without looking it up) or play back in my head. That's not a lot of points in its favor.
- The Grimoire of Alice is admittedly good but dBu did a much better version.
- Flowering Night is uninspired. It sounds like the zillion other Flowering Nights used in various fan-made Touhou videos. Why can no one get this song right? Battle Gaiden should be the standard, not the crazy outlier.
- Septette is a step down from IaMP.
- Till When is still Till When.
- Locked Girl has never been anything special.
- Night Falls is a total travesty that pisses on the ashes of Evening Star. Whoever arranged this should be strung up by their testicles.
- Broken Moon is decent I guess. As are WGG, Lunatic Eyes, Higan Retour, Legendary Fish and both of Tenshi's Themes. None of them stood out to me, though, and the three non-Suika remixes were notably not as good as their original versions.
Should-be-obvious disclaimer: post is 100% opinion, like all music posts from everyone on this site
So yeah I don't get it. Compare this bag of decent-but-not-great to what UNL brought to the table and it's absolutely nothing noteworthy.
-
Border of Life, Flawless Clothing of the Celestials, Bhava-agra As Seen Through a Child's Mind, MOTHERFUCKING GRIMOIRE OF ALICE, and whatever that song which plays just before GIANT CATFISH is called.
Dishonorable mentions to the Evening Star butchering, and for UNL making sure I don't get to listen to Mystic Oriental Love Consultation again. >:(
-
Flawless clothing of the celestials
-
I will admit that I am a bit biased when it comes to SWR's music for one reason: I don't play on the stages that have music I don't like much, and as such I kind of forget they exist. >_> Despite the blinding snow background, I play on Yuyuko's stage for that very reason; same with Aya's, Komachi's, etc. I don't like Tenshi's themes much, though. Can't explain why.
But Oriental Evening Sky owns so hard that I can't help but think of that as SWR's claim to fame. :x
-
Broken Moon by some margin. HMs to Bhava-agra As Seen Through a Child's Mind & Locked Girl.
-
Evening Star (ARRANGE) dammit !
And why the hell hasn't anyone uploaded it to 'Tube yet fdfjsldfdlksl
HM to Wonderful Heaven, Legendary Fish, Septette, Invisible Full Moon (both are better than the originals), and Fragrant Plants.

SWR had notably underwhelming music now that I think about it.
Even though Broken Moon is good, not as good as the official and unofficial arranged versions. And if I have to go with only SWR, Non-UNL themes, then I don't like most of 'em, though the Main Theme is good, and it's the basis of UNL's Main theme, what is awesome.
-
Going with the ending theme, Eastern Evening Sky/Star/whatever goofy translation was assigned to it.
HMs to Alice's, Aya's, Yuyuko's, and Sakuya's themes and Dancing Water Spray.
-
Original SWR Theme: Crimson in the Black ~ Legendary Fish
HM to Bhava-agra As Seen Through A Child's Eyes
Remixed Character Theme: Lunatic Eyes ~ Invisible Full Moon
HM to Higan Retour ~ Riverside View
-
I like Iku's pre-battle theme. Skies Above the Clouds, I think?
EDIT: Nope, it's Skies Beyond the Clouds. Well.
-
I like Iku's pre-battle theme. Skies Above the Clouds, I think?
EDIT: Nope, it's Skies Beyond the Clouds. Well.
Yeah that too.
-
I never played any of the fighting games :s
-
IaMP had notably underwhelming music now that I think about it.
Fixed.
For original SWR themes, definitely giving this to Dancing Water Spray. HM to The Ground's Color is Yellow.
For SWR remixes, probably Evening Star. It just screams "I spend my days fucking with people's lives because I can" which fits Yukari perfectly :V
(HM to Broken Moon and Flowering Night. SWR Flowering Night is just beautiful)
-
Skies Beyond the Clouds and Flawless Clothing of the Celestials.
HM to Casket of Star and Tenshi's last spell theme.
From what I heard. I haven't even unlocked most music in the music room. :V
-
Wonderful Heaven easily.
The rest sucks.
-
Drunk as I Like~
Suika is a Good Demoman~
-
Ridiculous Game
Bhava-agra As Seen Through a Child's Mind
If you count Soku, then Unkown X - Unfound Adventure
-
Casket of Star
Skies Beyond the Clouds
The Eternal Steam Engine
-
New: Wonderful Heaven, I guess
Remix: The Doll Maker of Bucuresti
-
PoFV is a stupid, stupid game.
Who is your favorite final boss?
This therefore includes Mima, Yumemi and Shikieiki, as well as Suika and Tenshi.
I think I'm going to go with Suika, for being hilarious, endearing, drunk, and awesome. And for Miko Miko Suika. HM goes to Yuka, for psychotic rampaging and pajamas.
-
Sikieiki > Eirin > Yuuka > Utsuho > Yumemi > Suika > Tenshi >>> Kaguya > Byakuren > Shinki > Yuyuko >>> Kanako > Remilia > [Asteroid Belt] > Mima
??? Sariel, Konngara ???
-
Uhh, probably Byakuren. She has nice hair and theme music. Plus her attacks and spellcards are pretty.
I like most of the final bosses in general, though.
-
Ruro's gonna love this question. :V Also, hear hear for right opinion on PoFV.
This therefore includes Mima, Yumemi and Shikieiki, as well as Suika and Tenshi.
WHAT ABOUT KONNGARA, SARIEL, AND GIANT CATFISH?! D=
Yuka. Youkai moe is moemoe. Honorable mention goes to Tenshi.
-
Imitating Kilga...
Byakuren > Yuka > Yuyuko > Remilia > Shikieiki > Yumemi > Eirin > Shinki > Mima >>> Kaguya > Tenshi > Suika > Utsuho > Kanako
Honorable mention to Reimu from CtC
Honorable mention to Giant Catfish because I totally forgot about it
-
Yuka. Although most of her fight is fairly easy even on Lunatic, I just love her backround and fight music, and the fight in general is pretty and fun.
-
Yumemi, and I guess HM goes to Shinki and Remilia.
-
Yuyuko
-
Shinki > Utsuho > Yuka > Konngara > Remilia > Shikieiki > Yumemi > Byakuren > Yuyuko > Sariel > Kanako > Kaguya > Eirin > Mima
Can't really rank the fighters; waaay too long since I last played SWR's story mode, never reached Suika :V and giant catfish is a giant catfish, I wouldn't know where to begin evaluating its worthiness as a final boss.
-
Remilia.
-
Remilia > Kaguya > Yuyuko > Shinki > Kanako > Eirin > Utsuho > Yuka > hurrMima
For the gameplay aspect. The ones I omitted from the list are the ones I haven't fought on Lunatic.
-
Byakuren > Kaguya > > Kanako > Utsuho > Eirin > Tenshi > Remilia > Shinki > Mima > Yuuka > Yumemi > Shikieiki > Suika > Yuyuko
Border of Life is the only good thing about that fight.
-
Byakuren is the only final boss where I genuinely have fun while playing :V
After her, in order from least-painful to fight to most (note that I'm only on Hard Modo), Suika >= Remilia > Utsuho >= Kanako > Tenshi >>> Eirin >>> Yuyuko > Kaguya
Eirin Yuyuko and Kaguya are just dull to fight and I don't care enough about the PC-98s to remember their final bosses' attacks (aside from Shinki's fucking cheeto lasers)
-
If we're asking who my favorite final boss to fight is, then Byakuren. In the 4 months since the game's come out I've fought her about 140 times. It's really refreshing to have a boss who I can occasionally curbstomp (still can't get that no deaths run though :(), and yet at other times can completely kick my ass.
-
Shinki~ o/
-
Character-wise, very much Remilia and Byakuren. Yuka, Mima, Yuyuko, and Utsuho all get honorable mentions, because they are very much awesome too. Kanako gets a DIShonorable mention.
As far as their boss fights themselves... This goes to Yuyuko. Everything else has such a degree of pain and/or simple unfun-ness that I can't accept them. Well... Or just being unmemorable. I seriously can't even remember Yuka's fight that much... Or at least, that's the reason I try to think up, but I'm actually not entirely sure. Maybe Resurrection Butterfly and the association I have in my mind between her fight and Sakura, Sakura have something to do with it? :V And that she's the final boss on my favorite game, which is the only one I've managed to 1cc on Lunatic so far...
-
Kaguya Houraisan. Flight of the Bamboo Cutter ~ Lunatic Princess is the best final boss music ever, and I like her spellcards.
-
Boss fights: Utsuho > Yuyuko > Eirin > Remilia > Kanako > Byakuren > Kaguya > [everyone else] > Shittieiki.
The characters themselves: Kanako > Utsuho > Remilia > Yuuka = Yuyuko > Kaguya > Eirin = Byakuren > Tenshi > Suika > [everyone else] > Suckieiki
-
Uh I think Byakuren, and maybe Yuyuko only because of the epicness of the final survive card. HM to CtC Reimu.
-
In terms of gameplay probably Kanako.
She'll probably lose to yuyuko or byakuren in popularity tough
-
Remilia, since she's the only one I can beat on Normal. :<
-
Byakuren
-
Utsuho and Yuyuko.
-
Utsuho because damn is she badass.
Yuyuko as well as she has awesome theme and fun danmaku. Sorry Utsuho, but your SCs are pretty bland actually (despite giant suns which are fuckawesome).
-
Sorry Utsuho, but your SCs are pretty bland actually (despite giant suns which are fuckawesome).
Don't ALL of her cards have giant suns?
Except for the second I guess since they peter out.
-
Don't ALL of her cards have giant suns?
Except for the second I guess since they peter out.
DESPITE the giant suns, which are awesome, her SCs are still pretty bland to play.
-
DESPITE the giant suns, which are awesome, her SCs are still pretty bland to play.
To be fair the suns are only a factor in the first and second card, and only a MAJOR factor in the first, and even there the real danger are the small bullets. So yeah if you don't like the battle as a whole it's not the suns that will change that.
-
What is your favorite theme from Scarlet Weather Rhapsody?
ORIGINAL :
Dancing Water Spray
HM : Bhava-agra As Seen Through a Child's Mind because of the awesome background rythm
Darkening Dusk and Flawless Clothing of the Celestials
ARRANGE :
Oriental Evening Sky (arrange) (well it's in the arrange disc)
Broken Moon
HM : Casket of Star, Mystic Oriental Love Consultation,Catastrophe in Bhava-agra ~ Wonderful Heaven (Arrange)
For Final Boss...
...
...
Byakuren and Yuyuko
-
Remilia
Because Scarlet Meister is fun. :V
-
Remilia, followed by a three-way tie between Utusho, Byakuren and Shikieiki. This applies to both their battles and their characters. :V
-
The unnamed Catfish and Utsuho are the
[size=9]BEST. FINAL. BOSSES. EVER.[/size]
-
Remilia, Kanako, Byakuren =)
-
This goes hands-down to Shikieiki. Notably, it's got nothing to do with her PoFV performance (PoFV is fun, but it's not my best memory of her). It's because of her appearance in StB, where she summons Aya's sinful self to do battle with her THAT IS AWESOME OH MY GOD SHIKIEIKI COULD YOU GET ANY COOLER.
Then in descending order: Yumemi, Byakuren, Yuyuko, Yuka, Utsuho, Tenshi, everyone else not named Remilia, Remilia.
-
Utsuho for sure. After downloading PCB yesterday, Yuyuko's starting to grow on me lately, but I've only played her on Easy so far (to learn enemy/boss positions and what have you). And I don't think she'd catch up - Resurrection Butterfly does get boring after a while (read: playing it once all the way through).
-
Aagh, failure is in the air~
What is your least favorite Stage 4 theme?
Can't...think. But this, at least, is easy. Fall of Fall JUST BARELY beats out the Capital City of Flowers Dancing in the Sky; both are boring, boring, BORING!
-
Voile. Eww god instruments.
Oh wait I forgot it's EoSD :V
-
UFO's. No real contest.
-
Fall of Fall by a longshot.
UFO's. No real contest.
Go die in a fire.
-
Voile. It has a seriously badass remix in IaMP, but the original is very dull. Dishonorable mention to Heartfelt Fancy.
-
Fall of Fall by a longshot.
Go die in a fire.
-
I agree with Donut. I absolutely love the IaMP/UNL arrange. Just that EoSD fucked it up so bad because of EoSD instruments.
-
UFO's. No real contest.
What the fuck is wrong with you :(
Flowers in the Sky, for me. Such a dull and endless stage accompanied by such an irritating piece. The intro is nice but everything else is just so ughhhhhh
-
Voile. Every Stage 4 song since has been fucking magical, even Imperishable Night, but this is just outright bland. EoSD instrumentation is no excuse for a nothing of a melody.
Someone remind me to stab anyone that answers Capital City, Fall of Fall or Heartfelt Fancy.
-
I like Capital City of Flowers Dancing in the Sky because it gives me this strong nostalgic vibe. It has it's own charm.
-
Someone remind me to stab anyone that answers Capital City, Fall of Fall or Heartfelt Fancy.
Consider yourself reminded.
-
Maple Wise.
-
Voile the Magic Library. Strong contender for one of the worst overall Touhou themes, never mind stage 4.
-
Capital City. DHM to Fall of Fall.
Voile is way better than Locked Girl, by the way :V
-
Maple Wise.
You are a dead, dead, horribly dead man.
-
Alice Maestra, and PCB one that have a too long name that I don't dare remember it.
-
Himorogi, Burn in Violet
Voile is way better than Locked Girl, by the way :V
Go die in a fire.
-
Alice Maestra
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTHAT'S EVEN WORSE THAN SAYING INTERDIMENSIONAL VOYAGE I'M LEAVING MOTK FOREVER
-
Voile, by far. The remixes are awesome, though.
-
Himorogi, Burn in Violet
WHAT THE HELL IS WITH YOU PEOPLE
SERIOUSLY
Oh, and for the final week, since Baity YOU HAVE BETRAYED US ALL should be back next week or so...next post gets tonight's question! In 11 hours and 15 minutes!
-
Commandeering this for myself.
-
Oh man I wonder what Kilga has in store for us.
-
Capital City. DHM to Fall of Fall.
Voile is way better than Locked Girl, by the way :V
Everything about this post is blasphemy and you must die now.
-
Oh man I wonder what Kilga has in store for us.
I'm bouncing a few ideas around in my head.
Currently leading is "Why is Aya x Reisen the best pairing?"
-
Voile
-
Yeah, I'm going to say Voile, not much of a contest here.
-
Voile. Its not very good, not horrible but still pretty low for ZUN. All the other ones are better. Even SoEW.
UFO's. No real contest.
There's the door. Use it.
-
Voile. Its not very good, not horrible but still pretty low for ZUN. All the other ones are better. Even SoEW.
Hey, SoEW's stage 4 theme is awesome.
-
I like most of the stage 4 themes, but I guess I'll go with IN's stage 4 since it didn't leave an impression on me. Plus Reimu's or Marisa's theme plays instead for like half the stage anyway.
-
Probably Fall of Fall.
-
Capital City, even though it's probably just the stage's awfulness rubbing off on it.
-
I'm gonna do what I've missed so.
Best final boss ever?
Yumemi for the win. Nothing beats her GIANT CROSSES OF DOOM and Strawberry Crisis!!
Least favorite Stage 4 theme?
Uhh... most of these aren't very memorable to me... I guess I'll go with Voile ~ The Magic Library.
-
SoEW's, because if I wanted to hear FFVI's battle theme, I would go and listen to it, instead of SoEW Stage 4.
Disregarding that, Voile.
-
Voile
-
Retribution for the Eternal Night because it's a recycled menu theme.
Voile is decent, I've never understood why so many people hate it.
-
Voile is decent, I've never understood why so many people hate it.
This. I've never understood why so many people like UFO's stage 4 theme either <.<; Or how they can possibly NOT like Fall of Fall :'(
-
Fall of Fall is amazingness and anyone that votes for it in this question should be shanked. <3
-
This. I've never understood why so many people like UFO's stage 4 theme either <.<; Or how they can possibly NOT like Fall of Fall :'(
Momiji and post-Momiji-BS.
Everything about this post is blasphemy and you must die now.
I'll be honest then :V
1. Maple Wise. because it's the only PC-98 Stage 4 theme I can remember
2. Interdimensional Voyage of a Ghostly Passenger Ship
3. Voile, the Magic Library. These two sound similar to each other :V
4. Retribution for the Imperishable Night
5. Heartfelt Fancy
6. Fall of Fall
7. Capital City
-
Voile. I don't necessarily hate it at all, it's just that every other stage 4 theme is better.
-
Okay, folks, I had a few ideas for this, so I had to consult a trusted opinion to make a final decision.
What is your favorite crack pairing?
For the purposes of this question, "crack pairing" will be defined as two Touhous that don't get shipped very often, possibly because they've interacted with each other very little or not at all. For example, things like Reimu x Yuuka or Sakuya x Eirin, while unusual, aren't crack pairings per se because they've interacted in a notable fashion and can be found pretty easily if you know where to look. Things like Yuyuko x Byakuren or Elly x Komachi would qualify despite obvious character connections, however.
I'll edit mine into this post once I've figured it out - I want to get the question out there. (Believe it or not, my answer is not Aya x Reisen.)
EDIT: I've decided on Reisen x Sanae because it has the potential to range from utterly adorable to smoking hot while hitting everything in between. I am imagining Sanae petting Reisen in my head and it makes me feel fuzzy.
-
OrangexMeiling
-
Wriggle/Yamame.
Mind you don't get caught in the web, little firefly~
-
Eirin x Konngara. Ruro endorsed it herself. :O
-
Sanae x Shikieiki.
Sanae with Yamahat sounds too awesome. The mental vision of them hugging in my mind is slowly devouring my brain from the inside out.
Also, stfu Donut. I was going to choose Yumemi x Shikieiki, but Kilga disqualified it as part of "Ruro hard mode". :<
-
Three-way tie between VIVIT/Reimu, Marion/Marisa, and Hibachi/Wriggle.
Well you never said that crossovers weren't allowed, so... :V
-
Well you never said that crossovers weren't allowed, so... :V
Whoops.
Crossovers are not allowed, effective retroactively.
<_<
-
Does Yuuka/Wriggle Count? I'm sure it does, but it's such a common pairing...
-
Does Yuuka/Wriggle Count? I'm sure it does, but it's such a common pairing...
It certainly doesn't, since it's the most common pairing for both.
I was considering Reimu/Komachi or Orin/Komachi but I guess I'll go with Eirin/Alice.
-
Yeah, too common, sorry. :<
-
Alice x Flandre is my vote, with mentions to Alice x Patchouli, if it counts
Also I remember a random Alice x Mysteria Doujin
-
Sanae x Daiyousei
Because green.
-
I'm gonna say Yumemi/Nitori for POWER OF SCIENCE.
And if that doesn't count then Flandre/Yuki for POWER OF FIRE.
-
Yuugenmagen/Evil Eye Sigma for power of eyeballs...?
I don't know.
-
Koishi x Flandre. What? They never met =/.
If that doesn't count, then Koishi x Gengetsu/Mugetsu for DREAM HAX
-
Ugh, so much catching up to do now that I'm back from vacation. @_@
Least favorite Stage 4?
Capital City of Flowers, no contest.
DM to Himorogi, Burn in Viol-/me is shot by PC-98 fans
Fall of Fall and Voile, though not necessarily great, are vastly underrated imo.
What is your favorite crack pairing?
PC-98 Yuka + Windows Yuka
Rin and Yuka I suppose.
-
Eh... Just to have some answer for this question rather than skipping out...
Does Youmu X Chen count? *random thought that occurred now*
...Whatever. I don't tend to be into this kind of stuff anyway <_<;
-
Aya x Satori for being the best news team ever.
-
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFTHAT'S EVEN WORSE THAN SAYING INTERDIMENSIONAL VOYAGE I'M LEAVING MOTK FOREVER
Alice Maestra was my favorite before but I all the others grew on me lately...
-
5 Magic Stones x Yuugen Magann
(I just picked this by picking two obscure characters)
-
Oh yay, pairings!
... wait o.o
YoumuXParsee, PatchouliXYoumu, MarisaXRenko?... Uhh, they're all equal, but I'll go for KeineXSanae.
I dunno. I don't consider MarisaXYoumu a crack pairing, neither does ReimuXPatchouli... meh :V
-
Satori x Nue. On the one hand, a girl who can read a person's nature like an open book. On the other, a girl who thrives on being unknown. I'm sure they'd get on like a temple on fire.
NuelegsNuelegsNuelegs
-
pairings are dumb
-
Uh. I don't really like pairings.
If I had to choose I guess I'd go with Yukari X Tenshi, if that's considered obscure.
-
I'll go with Yuyuko x Byakuren, even though it might not be a crack paring later on.
-
For pairings... Sakuya-Yuugi maybe, that or Flandre-Cirno... I can't pick :P
Least fav Stage 4 theme... idk, I only remember getting to stage 4 in Perfect Cherry Blossom.
-
I'm sure both Ruro and Kilga will despise this, but Remi x Nue. Alternatively, Nue x Koishi for the ultimate in scaring people shitless.
NuelegsNuelegsNuelegs
This guy knows what's up. :V
-
YuugenMagan x Bucket Loli
-
Does U.N. Owen x U.F. Owen count ?
-
Alternatively, Nue x Koishi for the ultimate in scaring people shitless. This guy knows what's up. :V
I would endorse this. I think there's a doujin on this actually, but I know shushio made an image on them. (http://danbooru.donmai.us/post/show/533027/ahoge-black_hair-black_thighhighs-cross-dress-gree)
-
Does U.N. Owen x U.F. Owen count ?
I thought selfcest wasn't allowed Sure.
-
Almost done, and, at the same time, TOO MUCH WORK
What do you think is the most underrated Touhou track?
Now Luna Dial automatically takes this, because there are a lot of people who don't like Luna Dial, but close HMs go to Maple Wise and Himorogi, Burn in Violet. Both are truly awesome, the best two S4 themes in my opinion, and are almost completely overlooked by EVERYONE. It is a shame.
-
Luna Dial
-
Lunate Elf. It gets no attention at all from what I've seen. I don't think anybody even likes that song aside from me.
HMs to Tabula rasa ~ The Empty Girl, swr.Evening Star (which everybody hates), Drunk As I Like, A Soul as Red as a Ground Cherry (which is actually better than Lunate Elf in terms of EoSD music), and uh... Lost Place and Heartfelt Fancy I guess but I don't know if they'd be considered underrated.
-
Well, arguably any PC-98 song without the word "Alice" in it qualifies for this :V
So do the pre-battle themes from the fighters.
Buuuuuuuut I think I'll go with the SWR arrange of Evening Star as well. Everyone hates it, but I think it's fantastic and suits Yukari much more than the grimdark version from IaMP (I mean, both work for Yukari but I think the SWR version fits her so much more). Honorable mention to Silence from IaMP.
-
Interdimensional Voyage of a Ghostly Passenger Ship for sure.
HM to Candid Friend, and Inanimate Dream (Yuka's Final Boss theme from LLS)
-
Evening Star wins this, obviously.
HM to Faint Dream, Romantic Children and Candid Friend.
-
Considering Sakuya is popular and her fans rave over EVERYTHING about her, Luna Dial is popular among her fans.
But hmm...
The Strange Everyday Life of the Flying Shrine Maiden. I've heard two remixes: A title theme in some fangame, and a Touhou Soccer remix. It's a really great song, but I'm the only person I know who likes it.
Honorable mentions are a waste of time because 80% of the PC-98 songs are underappreciated.
Honorable mention to Silence from IaMP.
Oh yeah, I forgot about IaMP pre-battle themes. Those are just as, if not even worse off than PC-98 songs. In that case, honorable mention goes to Unexpected Visitor, the best of the lot that isn't Broken Moon or Skygazer.
-
Perdition Crisis and Doll of Misery. Perdition Crisis in particular since people are too busy drooling over Bad Apple to even notice Elly has a separate boss theme.
-
Perdition Crisis and Doll of Misery. Perdition Crisis in particular since people are too busy drooling over Bad Apple to even notice Elly has a separate boss theme.
Oh man, I forgot about Perdition Crisis. It's actually a really pretty song, shame it gets so little attention.
-
Oh man, I forgot about Perdition Crisis. It's actually a really pretty song, shame it gets so little attention.
Thanks for proving my point. :V
-
In terms of the song that gets overlooked the most because of surrounding songs, Heartfelt Fancy wins this easily, given the sheer volume of people that fap to 3rd Eye.
Heartfelt Fancy does have a decent number of fans itself, however, so in the interest of picking a song that's underrated because it gets almost no attention, I pick Sleepless Night of the Eastern Country from StB. This whole soundtrack is overlooked very often (and arguably deservedly so), but Sleepless Night is an excellent composition that really does deserve a lot more attention than it gets.
Top Ten Underrated list can be found here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=3969.msg177944#msg177944), if people want to bitch about their song getting/not getting recognized.
-
Iku's Theme
-
Iku's Theme
This too.
-
Retrospective Kyoto (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FJ1Ygm6Osfs) also deserves a LOT of love.
1:10 is pure win.
-
Poison Body~ Forsaken Doll
-

This, so much. Of course, Hellfire Mantle as well. It gets less arranges than some PC-98 songs =/
Interdimensional Voyage of a Ghostly Passenger Ship for sure.
HM to Candid Friend, and Inanimate Dream (Yuka's Final Boss theme from LLS)
What. I'd say that Interdimensional Voyage is one of the most OVERrated songs from what I've seen. Inanimate Dream less so, but still.
-
Sleepless Night of the Eastern Country
I am ashamed I forgot about this song. SNotEC is amazing :(
Still, I've seen (and own) quite a few arranges of the song, so I wouldn't say it's terribly underrated. By far the best song in StB, at any rate.
-
Aside from PC-98 and Seihou themes (which are pretty much all underrated with a few exceptions), I choose The Tiger-Patterned Vaisravana. It doesn't seem nearly as popular as several of the other
overrated themes from UFO, which is a shame, because it's very good.
-
Wait, someone actually said Candid Friend? Candid Friend got an assload of attention when the MoF demo first hit and is still pretty widely regarded as really good.
It even got an IOSYS video.
-
Ghostly Eyes. I genuinely don't understand the apathy towards this fantastic track.
-
Ghostly Eyes. I genuinely don't understand the apathy towards this fantastic track.
Does this really count as underrated? Something I've noticed for a long time is that everyone says it's underrated. Everyone says that it's underrated and unloved, and they can't understand why nobody likes it.
Everyone. I've never heard a single person who doesn't like it or doesn't talk about how underrated it is. :V
-

Everyone. I've never heard a single person who doesn't like it or doesn't talk about how underrated it is. :V
If Ghostly Eyes doesn't qualify as underrated, you're using a different definition of the word to the one I'm familiar with. I'm talking primarily about its lack of remixes and its ranking in that giant Japanese poll from earlier this year. My knowledge of how the track stands in the eyes of western-fanbase individuals is reasonably limited, but the only time I can remember seeing it get any real praise here was when one other person mentioned it in the top 10 topic. In the 'Which is your favourite Stage 1 theme?' daily question, it got a fairly average amount of mentions.
-
My definition of underrated is when many people think something sucks or is mediocre when it is in fact really good. Like Bomberman 64: The Second Attack. This game has a bad reputation for following two mediocre Bomberman games on the N64, and it had pretty bad reviews, and came out at the end of the console's lifespan, and yet it's one of my favorite games ever. THAT'S underrated.
As for lack of remixes...need I remind you of my two remixes ever song? :[ And I bet that song isn't even on that list.
-
If that's the case, does Voile and Neo Super-Express count ? I haven't seen the latter being mentioned anywhere :V
-
My definition of underrated is when many people think something sucks or is mediocre when it is in fact really good.
145th: Illusionary Night ~ Ghostly Eyes. 77 votes.
Welp. To put it in perspective, Ghostly Eyes was the lowest-ranking theme from stages 1-6 of any Windows game. Hellfire Mantle got 3x as many votes. Iku's theme and Retrospective Kyoto got 10x as many votes. Luna Dial got 20x as many votes. Seriously, it's underrated.
As for lack of remixes...need I remind you of my two remixes ever song? :[ And I bet that song isn't even on that list.
172nd: The Strange Everyday Life of the Flying Shrine Maiden. 41 votes.
And it actually ranked higher than Ghostly Eyes 2 polls ago.
-
Didn't that poll also list the PCB stage 2 theme as #1? Shows you how accurate it is to public opinion.
-
Didn't that poll also list the PCB stage 2 theme as #1? Shows you how accurate it is to public opinion.
Uh, no?
1st - Septette for the Dead Princess. 4896 votes.
2nd - Bloom nobly, cherry blossoms of Sumizome ~ Border of Life. 4831 votes.
3rd - U.N. Owen was her?. 4489 votes.
...
53rd - The Fantastic Legend of Tohno. 765 votes.
And two polls ago Tohno was 34th.
Honestly, a poll of this scale is a far better indicator of public opinion than "Well, people I've talked to all seem to like it."
-
The Maid And The Pokect Watch of Blood...
Don't hear anything about it...
-
Hakurei ~ Eastern Wind.
-
Dark Side of Fate. Why does everyone say that it sucks? :V
-
Honestly, a poll of this scale is a far better indicator of public opinion than "Well, people I've talked to all seem to like it."
I found the complete poll (http://thwiki.info/th/vote6/result_music.html), but it's all mostly in moonrunes. D:
Still, from what I could gather:
- Necro-Fantasy being 42 positions below Necrofantasia is unacceptable.
- same with Kagome-Kagome and Voyage 1969 being only the 7th and 9th most voted among IN tracks.
- stage 6 themes are an unappreciated bunch as a whole.
Oh, and for quick reference, the PC-98 top ten (not counting tracks which made it into the Windows games, so LCMS, Casket of Star and Maiden's Capriccio are out):
01. Reincarnation
02. The Grimoire of Alice
03. Lost Dream
04. Alice in Wonderland
05. Bad Apple!!
06. Inanimate Dream
07. Strawberry Crisis!!
08. Romantic Children
09. Sleeping Terror
10. Infinite Being

I found the complete poll (http://thwiki.info/th/vote6/result_music.html), but it's all mostly in moonrunes. D:
And here it is in English! (the top forty at any rate :V) (http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-446484/results-of-the-6th-touhou-popularity-poll/)
I would go through and translate the whole list but that's THREE HUNDRED AND THREE SONGS I HAVE BETTER WAYS TO WASTE MY TIME
-
The EES boss theme should be 3rd :V
-
Poison Body~ Forsaken Doll
-
Based on our own poll not too long ago, I gotta throw my vote to The Road of the Apotropaic God (a song I'm guilty of forgetting about when making my list :-\) but I'm probably so out of the loops I don't know what all the hip kids are into so I could be wrong
-
The entire tHRtP soundtrack. If you want me to narrow it down, "Now die for the debt you have accrued" and "Swordsman of a Distant Star". Despite the fact that they are amongst the best stuff from PC-98, most touhou fans don't even know they exist! I think that qualifies as underrated.
For the windows games, it is hard to tell...
Ok, based on the fact that it is apparently not in the top 40, I'll just give my windows vote to Missing Power, because it definitely should be there.
On a seperate note, Bad Apple!! is by far the most overrated PC-98 theme. Shure, it has got this incredibly popular remix that also got a really great video added to it recently, and it probably got alot of other good remixes, too, but the original is in no way outstanding, imho.
-
I'll just do separate songs for PC-98 and Windows since comparing the two together is kind of pointless.
Most Underrated PC-98 Song: Visionary Game ~ Dream War. Seriously, I've found 1 arrange of this song in total, and it's so great. It depresses me at how little attention it gets.
Most Underrated Windows Song: Anything from EoSD. Romance in the Night Sky. Mostly because I can't think of anything else to put and because most people ignore this song in their deafening rage at UFO Extra.
-
I'd have to say...
Well, I'm stuck.
Probably one of the ending themes when there's the black and white drawings.
-
The Bridge People No Longer Cross.
-
Luna Dial
As soon as someone likes this or even finds it decent will make it overrated.
As for the question, I'm gonna think this over. It's most likely gonna be a PC-98 song or a CD song though.
-
Tabula rasa ~ The Empty Girl.
Controversial HM to Dimensional Dream because too many people fap to Reincarnation to notice it.
As far as Windows games go, that's a hard one since it almost feels every song is appreciated or overrated. I guess
-
As soon as someone likes [Luna Dial] or even finds it decent will make it overrated.
You know, I think that music is a matter of taste, and therefore it is pretty much pointless to argue about it. That being said:
Bring. It. Awwwwn. :smug:
I know that Luna Dial is not underrated, but no matter how much you dislike it, its experimental nature does anything but making it a bad composition. :V

Just a point, don't take that all too seriously.

I thought the disclaimer gave it away. See my :V ? That :V shows that I am not being seriously serious :V .
Actually I think it is pretty hard to have any serious discussion on an internet forum, let alone on something as subjective as music. :V
So, I guess I will stop putting more offtopic stuff here, sorry.

Colonvees are so overused on this forum that I don't even really know what they're supposed to represent anymore.
:V
-
:V .................
-
Colonvee is overrated.
Didn't that poll also list the PCB stage 2 theme as #1? Shows you how accurate it is to public opinion.
That was a poll of some number of Jappos that had zero exposure to Touhou when asked to listen to the songs and rank them. The idea was that the audience would be totally impartial to the songs - they wouldn't be able to attach characters or bullet patterns to them - and judge them purely on musical quality.
While seeing Tohno at #1 made me seethe, it was absolutely delicious to see both Necrofantasia and Hartmann outside the Top 50. Take that, you fuckers.

And Dark Side of Fate is second.
The Japs know what's good :V

Looking for someone else who likes this song D: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkMGWNKpu_w)
-
Tabula rasa ~ The Empty Girl.
I couldn't agree more. Such a fantastic song... that no one cares about.
-
Yeah, there are quite a few songs that I don't remember that are probably really nice to listen to.
This is outside of the Windows games. I know and remember all of those songs, and the songs I like aren't really underrated.
-
I think I'll have to go with Sleepless Night of the Eastern Country, with Ghostly Eyes getting a close HM.
-
Vanishing Dream ~ Lost Dream. Kana's theme fucking owns anything else in PoDD (yes, INCLUDING Strawberry Crisis) and easily ranks in my top five PC-98 songs, period.
-

the complete poll (http://thwiki.info/th/vote6/result_music.html)
PC-98 top ten (minus songs which made it into Windows):
01. Reincarnation
02. The Grimoire of Alice
03. Lost Dream
04. Alice in Wonderland
05. Bad Apple!!
06. Inanimate Dream
07. Strawberry Crisis!!
08. Romantic Children
09. Sleeping Terror
10. Infinite Being
Not exactly underrated.
-
Don't care. It still needs loads more recognition. There are barely any remixes out there, but in their defense, at least they're good ones.
Besides, losing out to Grimoire of Alice isn't exactly dishonorable. Losing to Reincarnation, though, is. WHY KANA WHY. ;_;
-
Okay, I'm really really bad at knowing whats underrated and such; if tons of people aren't going around saying "I LOVE/HATE THIS SONG" then I have no idea how other people feel about it.
Although, I'm fairly sure that after thinking about it again, my choice would be A Sacred Lot. Yeah, HRtP's menu theme. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5QfOOtp31I) It just gets better as it goes on~<3 (Because "Now, Until the Moment You Die" isn't underrated, right? ??? )
-

I love you.
No seriously, I think PoDD has the best soundtrack of any of the games in the series.
-
Complete Darkness. All I ever hear about Mima in terms of themes is Reincarnation this, Reincarnation that. Complete Darkness is where it's at. :V

Really? Usually I just hear COMPELTE DARKNESS IS JUST SO COOL IT'S AMAZING AND AWESOME AND FANTASTIC AND IT ENDED WORLD HUNGER AND GAVE US A CURE FOR AIDS

This :V
When you try to think of underrated songs, it shouldn't be TOO hard to pick only a few that you like the most because... chances are, if you think its awesome, it really isn't an underrated song.
-
Looking for someone else who likes this song D: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkMGWNKpu_w)
Repost because it was ignored ;_;
Almost everything from Story of Eastern Wonderland is pretty underrated, actually. Power of Darkness, World of Empty Dreams, Bet on Death...
-
Bet on Death is incredibly repetitive... but it has some charm to it. Also, it gets bonus points for having such a badass name for a song. It makes the 5 Magic Stones sound incredibly more badass than they really are.
You dare defy me? BET ON DEATH!!
-
Okay, I'm really really bad at knowing whats underrated and such
Song is an image CD-only song = underrated
Song is a PC-98 song and not Bad Apple = underrated
Song is Bad Apple = overrated
Song is a Windows song = ???
That should help you out.
-

For PC98, it'd be Bad Apple plus most of the final boss songs and anything related to Alice. And then a few songs from PoDD. Yeah, I'm a stickler :V
This reminds me though, YUMEKO'S THEME YEAH
I still go with A Sacred Lot (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5QfOOtp31I) but HM to Yumeko's theme, Doll of Misery.
-
Anything from THRtP and SoEW can qualify too. ;D
-
I don't understand how can Lost Dream be underrated if pretty much everyone who heard it rates it above pretty much anything else including the dreaded, omnipresent, all-encompassing, abandon-all-hope-all-ye-who-hear-it, Bad Apple, exclamation points.
You see, if anything, Lost Dream is overrated.
-
You can really tell it's underrated if you're the only person who even brings it up
:V

Visionary Game ~ Dream War
Uh huh.
-
Hey, Dream War is awesome. Also, Demon's Souls hates you almost as much as Touhou. Good times!
What is the most overrated Touhou track?
The pair to yesterday! There are a bunch of these, but I give it hands bloody down to Cosmic Mind. It's fairly boring, is by far the weakest S6 boss theme (yeah, that's right, even Lunatic Princess is better), and I cannot for the life of me understand the love it gets.
DHM to Wind God Girl, for SUCKING. And Fall of Fall, for BORING.
RAAAAAA
-
Inb4KilgasayingNecrofantasia
That said, Necrofantasia isn't quite all that. For remixes it's godly, and the original perfectly fits the tone of Yukari's fight (I'm a big bad border youkai and you're on the border of life and death...BITCH), but musically it's not all that.
Still, I'm going to go with Invisible Full Moon. People rave over this song endlessly, but it's rather plain. Still good, but not near as good as most other stage 5 themes.
Dishonorable mention to A Tiny Tiny Clever Commander. Among UFO boss themes it's my second least favorite behind Captain Murasa. I can kinda see why it's so popular, but it's nowhere near the greatness most people say it is.
-
Let's see... UFO stage 4 comes to mind. And U.N. Owen, and yes, Necrofantasia. Ooh, definitely can't forget Bad Apple.
-
Inb4KilgasayingNecrofantasia
I go where I am needed~
To be fair, Hartmann's Youkai Girl is the most overrated Touhou song. Necrofantasia is the most overrated track.
Top 15 Overrated are at the bottom of this (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=3969.msg175091#msg175091). Don't forget your anti-rage drugs before clicking.
-
What is the most overrated Touhou track?
As much as the EoSD fanboy in me hates to say it, U.N. Owen Was Her?.
-
Necrofantasia
Bad Apple
Grimoire of Alice
Strawberry Crisis
Lunatic Princess (well lots of people hate this one to be fair)
Maiden's Capriccio ~ Dream Battle
Love-Colored Master Spark
Kagome Kagome
Last Remote
Casket of Star
Heian Alien
Keep in mind that just because I think these are overrated it doesn't mean I dislike them (except for Lunatic Princess and Heian Alien)
-
Oh, forgot to mention the incredibly obvious Fantastic Legend of Tohno in my earlier. Why the heck does anyone even care about it?
-
Bad Apple
-
Where is everyone getting that Lunatic Princess is popular? From what I'm seeing all thats popular about it is "HELP ME, ERINNNN!!!" and maybe a remix here and there, but other than that it tends to get swept under the rug in favor of pretty much every other final boss theme in the series (bar History of the Moon, which is actually pretty underrated).
-
U.N. Owen
Too. Easy.
-
The Gensokyo the Gods Loved and Onigashima in Fairyland come to mind first. Maybe Heian Alien too.
-
Fantastic Legend of Tohno Necrofantasia. There is absolutely no excuse to vote for anything else.
Dishonorable mention to Bad Apple!! and Tiny Tiny Clever Commander. The original Bad Apple is just bland, nothing particularly special. TTCC is just terrible.
The Gensokyo the Gods Loved and Onigashima in Fairyland come to mind first. Maybe Heian Alien too.
Onigashima? In my experience. everyone ignores it in favor of Broken Moon.
-
Onigashima? In my experience. everyone ignores it in favor of Broken Moon.
In mine, it's quite the opposite. It wasn't until SWR that Broken Moon got the attention it deserved.
-
In terms of overrated, not overplayed.....that's a tough one.
Emotional Skyscraper ~ Cosmic Mind I guess will take this one. I just am not a fan of it; feels like it's constantly on the verge of greatness but something holds it back for the most part. 1:43-2:10 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zd3n5PnVOhw#t=1m43s) it hits it's potential, but the rest of the song is kinda disappointing. :(
DHMs to Necrofantasia, Candid Friend, and Bad Apple. Necrofantasia was the first Touhou song I've ever heard, so it hurts to vote for it here. Like Luna Dial, it makes a better theme than a song but it does indeed get too much recognition than it's worth. As for Candid Friend, I admit I no longer hate the song, but I still just don't see what exactly makes people go crazy over it. :-\ Bad Apple (original) is just too bland to be a top-5 PC-98 song.
-
In mine, it's quite the opposite. It wasn't until SWR that Broken Moon got the attention it deserved.
#18 - Broken Moon - 1928 votes
#40 - Demystify Feast - 958 votes
#71 - Onigashima in the Fairyland ~ Missing Power - 521 votes
As for the topic, that's easy.
Windows: U.N. Owen was her?
PC-98: Bad Apple!!
-
- U.N. Owen was her?
- Necrofantasia
- Love Colored Master Spark
- Adventure of the Lovestruck Tomboy
- Flowering Night
- Deaf to all but the Song ~ Flower Mix
- Candid Friend
- Green-Eyed Jealousy
- Bad Apple!!
It does not mean that I don't like them, just that they overrated...exept for one that I don't like but I won't say it because I'm gonna be killed.
-
Bad Apple!!. Best Stage 3 theme ? PLEASE.
Locked Girl. Completely failed to impress me. Both the original and IaMP/SWR version.
And DHM to Luna Dial.
-
(My train broke down before I could leave so I can answer one more question)
I understand why everyone is choosing Bad Apple!!, Necrofantasia, Hartmann's Youkai Girl (actually I don't understand this one, everyone seems to hate it just because Lost Remote is so much better), and so forth. I really really want to give this to U.N.Owen, because it's also overrated...
But I'm going to go with Bloom Nobly, Cherry Blossoms of Sumizome ~ Border of Life. If the ten billion remixes of this indicate anything, it's that everyone likes this song. There was a time where every Touhou arrange CD had an obligatory remix of it. Yuyuko could set up a massive sound system in Hakugyokurou programmed to play nothing but Border of Life remixes; she won't run out for several months.
Note that I actually really like Border of Life. Overrated ≠ bad.
PS: Janitors, keep an eye on this thread, it's almost to 1000 posts.
-
U.N. Owen
Too. Easy.
-
Most overated Touhou song? I'm kinda biased, since I pretty much hate the original tracks from EoSD, but Im'a go with:
U.N. Owen was Her? - I don't need to explain this one really. It isn't too bad, but I don't find it all that special
Sepette for a Dead Princess - This is the more overated of the two for me. I don't feel anything from this track personally :/.
-
Locked Girl. Completely failed to impress me. Both the original and IaMP/SWR version.
And DHM to Luna Dial.
I think the original versions of Locked Girl (that is, the official versions of it from the games) are pretty bland, although I'm rather fond of the IaMP version oddly enough. The remixes of it can be pretty awesome though.
-
This is between Wind God Girl and anything in EoSD. Both of them suck.
Actually, I'm gonna go with Wind God Girl in this one. Why? Because I even hate every arrange of it. I just can't stand it. Demetori's version makes it barely managable with awesome speed metal, but everything else goddamn it make it stop.
At least some EoSD songs have awesome arranges to go with it. But the originals are just shit.
-
I'll go with Wind God Girl as well
-
The three songs with an infinite amount of remixes:
UN Owen
Necrofantasia
Native Faith
Gpoop, stop sucking at trolling
-
Oh man, how stupid of me! I forgot THE most overdone one -
LOVE COLORED MASTER SPARK, you putrescent pile of absolute garbage.
-
Gpoop, stop sucking at trolling
Can't express my opinions in this topic?

Mima's themes. Both of them. Including Mima herself.
