Title: Help With vpatch error
Post by: Satori on May 01, 2016, 09:25:58 AM
Hi all  :)
This is my first post, but I could really use some help.

So anyways I'm using Thcrap patcher to run my Touhou games in english.
I'm able to run all the games that it supports and also run vpatch on top of that (with all the games that vpatch supports).

Only one of the games won't run and it's th09.
When I try to run it I get vpatch (rev4) telling me that it's missing the proper dll (vpatch dllが存在しません).
However I have the proper dll (vpatch_th09.dll) in the game folder and no other vpatch dll's are in that folder (I know you can't have more then one vpatch dll).

I'm also not a newb when it comes to computers or fixing my own problems.
This one however has me stumped...

Is there anyone out there with a similar problem who managed to solver it or who thinks they may know what's causing this problem?
I would really appreciate any help you guys could give me.

I should also mention that I'm running windows 10 (with the dx8 to dx9 conversion patch on all required games including th09).

Um, can you run vpatch if you aren't launching the game using thcrap? I assume you're telling thcrap to launch vpatch.exe and it's erroring when using that. What happens if you just launch vpatch? What about launching the original exe with thcrap?

Well when I launch it without vpatch it looks like it runs perfectly fine, however a lot of the game remains untranslated (like the character selection screen) and it won't run in full screen (even with the DX8 to DX9 patch).  Now when I run the game without Thcrap and just the vpatch it runs in fullscreen, but obviously in Japanese.
So it doesn't look like Thcrap is even translating the game properly, because a lot of the game remains in Japanese.

Edit: I didn't realize that the game's character selection screen's (and pretty much everything else) haven't been translated yet.  So I guess that means that it does work without the vpatch, just not much more translated then the Japanese version.  However It's still doesn't let me go fullscreen or use vpatch (pretty important stuff).  If only I could get fullscreen in Thcrap, then I'd be set :)

I also want to say that the game is updated to the newest version (1.50a) and I even downloaded a version off the internet to make sure the disk I got wasn't scratched or corrupted in any way.  Unfortunately it made no difference...

Thanks for replying to my message :)

Ok, so I found a totally weird solution by accident.  Well i was renaming the folder from "東方花映塚" to "東方花映塚 - not working" when I changed the file games.js th09 location from  "th09": "D:/Touhou Project/Games/東方花映塚/th09.exe", to   "th09": "D:/Touhou Project/Games/東方花映塚 - not working/th09.exe".

I don't know why the game runs perfectly with vpatch now, but all my Touhou games are in my "D:/Touhou Project/Games/" folder and they all have the original Japanese install folders (because I bought the disks to support Zun).  Since I don't have a problem with any of them, I don't know why I should have a problem with this one.
My computer supports Japanese perfectly and I even changed my compter to use Japanese as the default language for non-unicode programs.

So If anyone can tell me why just adding some english at the end of the title made it work, I'd really appreciate it.
Some of my other game folders as an example are:
  "th07": "D:/Touhou Project/Games/東方妖々夢/"
  "th08": "D:/Touhou Project/Games/東方永夜抄/"
  "th10": "D:/Touhou Project/Games/上海アリス幻樂団/東方風神録/"
  "th11": "D:/Touhou Project/Games/上海アリス幻樂団/東方地霊殿/"
I just don't get why I don't have a problem with any of them and I run vpatch and Thcrap on all of them.
