Touhouism and You? By JTSexkik? Yes, that's the right and definitive Touhou intro video, as it has been for years. And it didn't come from Reddit!

I think you may have put the wrong link then cause each time i click on the link it just goes to the general Utube page?

Ya. The watch gibberish is valid, though, so you can infer the right link:

I personally see it only amuse existing fan, as I watched it 2 years ago before getting into Touhou and brushed the series off as something ridiculous, not worth my time after watching it.

Well then clearly it went over your head, because I don't know what they told you on Reddit, but this is the definitive Touhou intro video.

Yeah, I agree, It's a fun video and all if you know what Touhou is but if you're brand new to the series, I can see stuff in it really turning people off (like the mountains and mountains of porn and the list of items he rattles off). The random tangent at the end also...yeah. It's funny but...I wouldn't necessarily show it to someone new to the series.
The one video linked at the start of this topic is an incredible info dump...perhaps a bit too much of one for someone brand new to the series. It's very well put together though.
I actually watched through another one of that creator's videos (this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Do_CoSsGyfM ) and for someone who's completely unknown on Touhou, it seems like a very quick and informative video to watch. Covers the absolute basics in a serious manner with nice visual aids to back it up. The only nitpick is that the narrator's voice feels a touch unemotional. Fitting that the uploader is Hata no Kokoro I guess?
In the end, I'd say it's a matter of 'know your audience'.

So, for one, I closed this the first time after about 8 seconds because the voicing was pretty awful.
For two, this is a video on the setting of touhou, from the looks of it. There's nothing here about what the series actually bloody is, or why you should be interested in it, unlike Touhou 101.
I wouldn't even know this was a video about a bullet hell shmup series from watching it, I'd probably think it was for an anime or something with a really deep setting.

Personally, I think that kind of depend on how you want to introduce 'Touhou' to others. I mean whether in the context of 'story setting' (story verse what is touhou all about) or game setting (what kind of game it is...) You could also talk about the history of touhou (game-wise), how it has evolved during this decades, the influence of the fans, etc... well all kind of stuff.
I think what may got me attracted to 'Touhou' at first was it large variety of fanart/fanwork at it base. If it was not for the fanwork story telling I personally may have not got into 'touhou' at all. I already know it was some sort of game...later on a shooting game but never really heard about it story and since im not into game and more particularly 'bullet hell kind of game' that much I wasn't really interested to find out more about it. So overall, I find the first intro much more at my taste than the second one (dont really care about how it voice sound as long i can understand it that find).

If it's an introduction video, the structure should be a general overview of all aspects of the series. The "how" question, i.e., the gameplay, story, fandom, business model, are all great subjects for exploration, but an "introduction", or a good one anyway, touches upon these aspects with varying levels of emphasis - the important part being how much time you devote to each aspect. 2cents

The video itself is informative of the story, definitely. The technical aspects (voice work, structure, etc.) could use a little work.
I couldn't stand the lipsmacking noise, sorry. And the voice is too deadpan in my opinion. The info jumps all over the place (which is admitted in annotations).
The other video (the humorous one) is great up until the cringeworthy political tangent. I saw this already at a panel. Some people liked that but it's the lamest non-sequitur to use. Again, my opinion.
Most people come into Touhou seemingly already knowing about the characters via INternet osmosis.
Some don't even know that Touhou is a game let alone what type of game.
Most are like WOW PORN! YAY!
I'd love to see an introduction video about the gameplay, mechanics, and such of each game. These are essentials and are usually briefly if ever mentioned.

If you're familiar with STG Weekly, they've done a few episodes for Touhou games, with commentary by experienced players. https://www.youtube.com/user/STGWeekly/featured

I'm going to start using this term. Its great.
Anyway I'm starting to think that there a "definitive" touhou video is a bad goal to strive for. Hata no Kokoro's video is badly voiced and misses the mark, J.T. Sexkik's video is informal, and the video that Kappa Steel Inc posted... is hilarious and also misses the mark.
