Anime Tenchou (hot-blooded store manager, mascot of a Japanese anime store, showed up in Lucky Star a few times) is apparently getting some sort of Touhou crossover OVA for his 10th anniversary. And UFO Table (i.e. the studio that did the Kara no Kyoukai movies) is in charge.
Release date is November 20th. Try to keep preemptive rage to a minimum, because this has potential if it's played right.

I was more or less basically saying "stop assuming it's gonna be 10 minutes" or "rageragerage" when all we have to go by is an announcement that only happened today. Where did I ever say you weren't allowed to like the character? Christ.

Well, Trance, people are going to react to the information we have so far. My reaction is based on that, and what I think of this character. I haven't - and didn't - completely dismiss this as "it's going to be garbage" or whatever, so I honestly have no idea what you're going on about.
So that means there's the possibility of a Ryougi cameo, isn't there?
...Unfortunately, that's all I think KnK had going for it, so I hope there will be no cameos. But I can rage about that to myself without involving the rest of you.

Official "Anime Tenchou" anime OVA whatever...NOT official/canon Touhou anime. They're just appearances/cameos to the OVA.

I thought her Last Arc (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_NM5fkii4o) had a nice little detail to it if you're familiar with the novels or the movies, namely Paradox Spiral.
I bet my right arm that the Tenchou was gapped into gensokyo by Yukari.

So I've been looking at this for a while, trying to figure out how this is supposed to be any different from other attempts at a touhou anime I've seen on youtube, and as far as I know the only difference is that its a big-name company that is doing this. Its still basically a fan-made anime and its neither the first time something related to touhou has appeared in another anime nor will it really change much about Touhou's fanbase as its already got a massive following in Japan, and around here most of the people that'll watch it are the kind of geeks that would find out about Touhou anyway.
Did I miss something?

When I first heard it, I wasn't sure what to think; the whole argument of it being an anime and what not. Seeing the trailer two days ago has changed everything. The animation is awesome and the thought of Flandre levelling a city is just brilliant. I have so many theories as to what happened and who could be involved other than who we've seen, but I'll leave that alone.
My only question now is: Who will voice who?

That's the thing; before the trailer, people kept thinking it may have just been the characters showing up and just being all silly like. Of course, that's out the window now.
A lot of us will be disappointed if it doesn't end up being right up there, but then again, some of us didn't really care about the whole 'Touhou becoming an anime' thing.
I however AM looking forward to it, so I can only share the same views. I also kept thinking about if it will be just the one episode or if they might do like a short series. Because if they do, a six episode run would end ON Christmas Day.
Don't listen to me though; I'm just sprouting out all the possibilities I came up with in my head. ^^

Methinks the idea has a ton of potential, but there's also a large chance it could be a fuckup. So yeah, it's mostly wait-and-see.
I think it'll be good, personally, and even if it isn't, I'm still watching.
Animation-wise, it looks fffffffffffffffffantastico.

Afaik (correct me if wrong), the emphasis was on Anime Tenchou in the first place, not on Touhou. I don't remember it was being said a Touhou Anime was being made.

But seeing as this is still on the first page (and there aren't that many in front of it as well) I thought it would be best if I just keep this post in here. I checked the site once again (since I decided giving it some time would be best) and after looking at it, I noticed something very different...
Wait, so Reimu & Marisa are the same as in Musou Kakyou?
I guess this is that pigeonholing what ZUN intended to avoid when he said he'll never allow Touhou to get an official anime?

If the voices really are the same, then (spoilered for crackpotitude)
perhaps it's set in the same continuity! MAIKAZE could be secretly getting a cut of this OAV's profits and using it to finally make Musou Kakyou episode 2, and in return have the donation box thief turn out to be none other than Meito Anisawa himself! But why would the two studios team up in the first place, you ask? The answer is obvious: Magnetism! MAIKAZE is in all capital letters and ufotable is in all lowercase ones, so they'd naturally attract each other! It just took until now for the two of them to pass close enough to each other to stick! What the question is is how long they'll stay together after their Touhou works are done!

They would be fools not to release it at some point; I know that would make quite a bit of money off of it. Maybe they're going to wait until they have all of the projects for the anniversary done, then release everything at once. Something tells me that's what they're going to end up doing.

And after doing some very detailed (?) research about who and what Anime Tenchou really is, and their 10 feats (with only 6 feats officially planned out) for their 10th anniversary...
For a person who first thought that Anime Tenchou was another anime series, now that I have come to a better light of understanding, I came to a very wierd conclusion that Anime Tenchou is essentially the spirit behind Japanese Animation Industry.
With that established, I came to terms with a lot of stuff. (Squeeze those eyes and pop!)
1. I'll remain neutral with the motivation behind this crossover. Even if this brought millions of trolls asking whether ZUN was involved in this animation - (To his frustration). 2. I'll understand if this release ends up trolling all of us Westerners (meaning, never being released on public), with no attempt of piracy for a long time. 3. And if they do release it some time, I hope the gag of Anime Tenchou and the beauty of Danmaku can satisfy me, =)

I think it's Yukari. If you look at the caption pointing to the bottom right image, the first three kanji say yakumo yukari no something. I'm thinking like a human form in the real world? Would make sense with Yukari's youkai/Gensokyo profile on the left.

It's an extras booklet. Character concepts, early drawings and progression, interviews, detailed storyboard, early plot designs, development info, etc.
