Title: Touhou Replay Showcase
Post by: Chill Observer on September 14, 2016, 01:38:14 AM
Note: We have began broadcasting again, but this forum will no longer be updated. The following thread is preserved here for archival purposes.

Stream Link Here: Touhou Replay Showcase (https://www.twitch.tv/touhou_replay_showcase)

For ALL intents and purposes, please visit Maribel Hearn's Touhou Replay Showcase (https://maribelhearn.github.io/trs) page on his Github.

Credits to ZM, Pearl, Permafrost Wolf and others for contributions, as well as Yu-miya's replay party stream for the original idea.

Greetings, Touhou fans of all varieties of backgrounds! As a way of showing the diversity of the western Touhou community, we have decided to start a weekly stream in which we present and commentate on your Touhou player-made replays. We aim to demonstrate how different kinds of players approach the Touhou games at various skill levels, in addition to broadening gameplay perspectives. Whether your run is a survival or score attack run, from easy to lunatic difficulty, all submissions are welcome and we encourage you to showcase yourself to the gameplay community.

Before submitting your replay, however, here are some general guidelines.

The stream itself will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 3PM EST every week.
Each player is restricted to one submission per month.

For all related Touhou game replay uploads, please use Lunarcast (http://replay.lunarcast.net/), credits to Tom for making the site. Make sure to link your uploaded replay in the submission form!

For fangames, upload via video (YouTube, etc. it can be unlisted don't worry).

Looking forward to seeing your replays! :)

If this garners enough steam this will become regular for sure. w
Also I totally did not copy the exact post as I wrote on Reddit and Eientei

Are runs with Ultra patches acceptable?

Are runs with Ultra patches acceptable?
They are... although that requires me installing the ultra patches in the first place. :p
Just make sure you state that the run is ultra somewhere in your submission.

Also if your submission doesn't get shown this week then it'll simply be saved for the next. I'll log the ones that have already been shown.

This sounds great, and I'd love to take part and have the professionals pick apart some of my replays. I just have a query about one of your guidelines:

For scoring: Your score run must be at a considerably different level than a survival run. In other words, don't submit a survival run as a score run.

You see, I'm the kind of player for whom survival and scoring are not separate goals. I always try to score, even if it's a category I haven't cleared yet. I try to learn scoring techniques a little at a time and incorporate them into my runs. I'm nowhere near professional scoring level yet -- but I'd still prefer my runs to be treated as scoring runs and for you to tell me what's good and what needs improvement. Is that okay? Or maybe I should mark my runs as both survival and scoring to show that I'm kind of a bit of both?

I just made a submission (IN Hard, Alice Solo); thanks for this initiative! I was wondering if you could provide instructions on how to view this weekly stream, as I have no background on streaming in general and would like to watch.

Normally, I consider myself an insular and stubborn Touhou player when it comes to outside advice - that's just a result of really enjoying the process of trying to work things out by myself and not being exposed to too many 'spoilers', even when I'm having difficulty. But I also would like to share my Touhou playing with others, and see what strategies others have come up with. I also think the goal of "showing the diversity of the western Touhou community" is a good one, and I hope it encourages more community participation in Touhou playing :)

I think this is a good point to raise - in my opinion whilst there are obviously 'pure' score runs and 'pure' survival runs, there are definitely runs that are on a continuum between the two. Would the threshold for inclusion as a 'scoring run' be something above what a 'defensive/conservative' NMNB could achieve? Also, there's a distinction between intent and result - somebody could be trying to do a scoring run but not do very well and get a lower score, but the replay could still indicate a preference towards scoring-based play rather than survival-based play. For example, suppose I play SA, and I try some of the easier scoring strategies (increasing graze via timing out attacks, using bombs as ReimuA, positioning my character in riskier positions). I could still end up with a score lower than that achieved by a No Miss run, simply from dying due to the added risks I'm taking.

On the other hand, to a relatively average player like me, the scoring runs at a significant percentage of World Record scores are obviously on a whole other level of gameplay to what most of us can achieve. It's almost like watching a different game mode being played, and I think it is important to maintain this distinction. My personal preference in this case would be to allow ticking both 'scoring' and 'survival' in the online submission form for replays like the ones Mikuru is suggesting. A run that uses a few scoring techniques but nothing really crazy (e.g. significant usage of point-blank safespots) can be still commented on like it's a survival run, but the individual scoring techniques deserve to be commented on too (for example, manipulation of the human/youkai meter in IN to get time orbs). I'm not sure how discussion of replays is planned or structured (obviously), but I'm assuming each replay will be viewed at least once prior to the stream, and so issues like these can be addressed if relatively minor.

Maybe the bit in the original post that says 'Check the hiscores page for reference' could be a little more specific? E.g., for a 'pure' scoring run, your score should be around X% of the MotK top score/World Record, or similar?

I mean, I GUESS you can call your runs scoring runs if you're main goal is trying to get as high of a score as you can.

The stream will most likely be hosted on Twitch. We'll be making a stream account exclusively for the replay stream itself. Once I do so and then make some test streams then I'll give instructions and guidelines about the stream itself. Also I'd say in general that exposing yourself to "spoilers", especially in a shooting game series, is actually pretty good practice, because you'll have an idea how patterns in-game work beforehand.

I think this is a good point to raise - in my opinion whilst there are obviously 'pure' score runs and 'pure' survival runs, there are definitely runs that are on a continuum between the two. What ZM said: if your goal is to get a highscore you can consider your run a scoring one, but obviously it needs to do a little more than a regular 1cc (are specific routes or graze strats used? are point items frequently collected? are you using resources to get higher PIV or saving them for a massive clear bonus?).

Some games (IN and MoF for instance) give you quite a high score myself if you no-miss and no-bomb. Extra stages in particular are also like this in general. So, it is not uncommon for a scoring run to also incorporate strats to not die, get spell bonuses and generally only use resources to prevent a death. (Max lives finish in extra stages are usually worth a LOT of points.)

I will be skimming through the replays a few days before the stream starts, to ensure three things: that the replay is genuine, that there are no desyncs, and strategies/approaches the player took in their run. Replay order during the stream will be generally randomized and if there are many submissions we might enforce some limitations (e.g. max 1 full run per player each week).

The highscores page for world records is just a general guideline. Each game is too different to explicitly state whether or not "a score must be within this % of the THWiki/MotK/Eientei/Royalflare/etc. top score or world record".

Thanks for the feedback, by the way!

We'll be archiving broadcasts as well as providing a list of replays showcased during the stream on this topic.

Oh, I forgot to mention an important rule that I'll add (but is implied in the no TAS/cheating rule anyway):
ALL REPLAYS MUST BE AT OR BELOW 5% SLOWDOWN.
Any percentage greater than this will not be shown.

For now, this will be limited to just Windows Touhou shmups, sorry!
We may think about adding specific fangames and/or related series later on.

Decided to submit my MoF and TD Normal clears. I'm planning to submit an IN replay but I want to ask a probably dumb question first: my replay is not saved under my username, it is in fact named '15th' to commemorate my 15th 1cc attempt. Is this acceptable format or will I need to clear IN again and save another replay using my name?

I look forward to seeing the stream, although I probably won't be able to watch it live due to differing timezones. I'm excited about more experienced players analysing my playstyle!

That is fine. As long as you submit replays under the same username using the form we will accept it.

By the way, the showcase consensus at the moment is that the first 3 stages (or first 5 for PoFV) will be fast-forwarded in the maingame, unless otherwise stated.

Thanks, gonna submit my IN replay now. I'll also submit my PoFV clear as I just remembered I 1cc'ed it a few months back. I hope I'm not making too many submissions :ohdear:

I'll add my UFO SanaeA run where I nearly perfected Nue to the mix.

Well, I was thinking of submitting the replay of Remilia's Fitful Nightmare we were talking about on the other thread, Satorical, but it doesn't have my username, but "Remilia" on it. Because all my replays in ISC have the name of the character in the spell card  :D Is there any problem with that?

If not, I've a Koishi-perfect and a Suwako-perfect run (you know, no deaths, no bombs).

As I've said before, that's fine. The field "Player Name" should be who you want to be known as (I am assuming Yukari's Glove).

Oh yeah. For score runs, tell us which parts you'd like to be skipped, so if you want to include the first three stages, they will be.

Followed, and good luck with this project. This is hopefully something that'll be well appreciated by the community. You guys just might want to keep in mind to brush up a bit on your general basic knowledge of each game or relevant commentary could become a real struggle and stray away from the replay completely. Just something to keep in mind. I wouldn't mind some banter, but people sending in their replays might get disappointed if you end up talking about something else for its entire duration.

I'll try to send in a photography game replay or two (or three?) every week, those games are always short on recognition. Is there any kind of cap of how much "shorter" replays (scenes or spell practice stuff) you can send in, by the way? 2 or 3 sounds reasonable to me, assuming that for a full game, 2 replays is too many.

Also, assuming there's no requirement for the replay to be recent? I'm not playing much at the moment, but I have no shortage of replays.

For the MoF replay I've submitted, I'm fine with you fast-forwarding the first three stages. There really isn't very much to be said about them.

I've played all of the games in the above list on at least hard and extra difficulty (including all 4 sidegames) and the others have done the same on lunatic (and score a couple of games), so Touhou game knowledge isn't particularly an issue for us. This is also something I'll have to be careful with however, this is a showcase, not a criticism-case. Of course, there might be some criticism here and there, but that is not the main purpose of the stream. I'm the only one who doesn't score, but I still have a basic grasp on how scoring in each game works.

For "shorter" replays, I'll say that 3 scenes is a reasonable cap. Obviously for the full game and extra, we must cap it to 1 submission per person.

There's no requirement for the replay to be recent (although it is preferable). You just need to make sure the replay doesn't desync, so good luck submitting a DS 12-6 replay lol.

Due to the massive number of submissions we have been getting thus far, we will have to cap the number of runs shown on stream per week.

As of now, only 10 full run submissions (by different users) per week will be shown. The actual stream length will be approximated to sometime between 2-3 hours.

You may still submit runs, but they will be moved to a later week.

Thanks to everyone joining! Not only did we manage to get through all the replays successfully (albeit a few technical difficulties), we even had guest player Deplore join in with his very recently obtained 600m EoSD Lunatic with ReimuB, which was a surprise! I'm very pleased with how the stream turned out, since our commentary is done entirely impromptu (with a general idea of how the replays are like). Stream delay didn't help very much either.

As of now, you are still free to submit future runs but keep in mind we have over 40 other runs in our backlog (and counting!), so it might not be until a few weeks until your replay will be shown. I apologize for the inconvenience, but even with just 11 replays with parts of them fast-forwarded, the stream lasted nearly 4 hours, longer than my estimated time.

I'll make future updates as I go along! As always, the next week's replays will be posted moments before the stream starts. This week's replays will be posted on a log which will be consistently updated.

EDIT: HIGHLIGHTS ARE AVAILABLE ON THE CHANNEL PROFILE! (https://www.twitch.tv/touhou_replay_showcase/profile/highlights) For anyone who missed it.

I mentioned this in discord while the stream was live so I'm not sure how many of you (aside from Pearl, who replied) saw, but if you have such a large backlog (and a stream takes that long), then it might worth considering having 2 smaller streams a week with 6-7 replays each, instead of one large one with 10. That way you would get through the backlog quicker and the streams wouldn't be as long. I don't believe you would run short of them anytime soon either way. Of course, this needs to tie in with the schedules of the hosts, naturally (so it might not be feasible in the end). Alternatively, to cut back on the length of the stream, you could try not having 9 full game runs or whatever. Put in one or two extra stage runs or the single stage/spell replays that I'm sure some people submitted. Naturally, this was the first stream so it wasn't possible to tell how long it would end up being, so maybe this is still sort of within expectations. I'm just throwing in a suggestion for you to consider.

Good job on the first stream.

I have thought about a few methods to cut back on stream length as well as going through the backlog, and am still trying to find a way that will make it work better. The main reason why I'm only able to do something like this on a weekend is because for most of us, the school year has already started which automatically means weekdays will almost never be an option. It would have been more viable in the summer, but not now. And yes, for the next week I have put in some variations to the submissions so full game replays don't take up as much time slots as it currently does, and I have included a few submitted spell replays as well. The stream did end up taking slightly longer than my estimated time so I'm looking for ways to save (read: not waste as much) time.

Thank you for the feedback!

I've noticed that you can now adjust the quality of the stream video, which is excellent for people with really slow internet like mine! So, I'd like to thank all the people who watched the streams, because you've made my ability to watch them much easier! Unfortunately I can't join you guys 'live' (the stream starts at 5am Sunday morning for me), but on watching the highlights, I enjoy your interaction with people posting chat comments. I also like that you analyse gameplay, but also go into trivia and other details regarding the games. I've definitely learnt a lot already!

As for my own replay in last week's showcase, I understand my 'unorthodox' approaches on Kaguya's last two regular spells had a few people metaphorically scratching heads. So, I have two light-hearted things to say:
I'm sorry. I've learnt my lesson. I have changed my ways. (http://replays.gensokyou.org/download.php?id=41568)
Just kidding, crazy life is best life ;) (http://replays.gensokyou.org/download.php?id=41569)

I wanna pull off that No Miss run of TD Normal so I can send that replay. :V  I almost did it but I derped right near the end of the Miko fight.

I'm not gonna submit anything juuuust yet but I'll probably tune in, if I'm not recording anything. I'd prefer to play more and get a feel for my current skill level and play well so I can put a decent replay up (at least, something I deem decent for my skill level).

Hey guys! Our 3rd weekly stream is just around the corner. Here's the list for this week's stream items:

Title: Re: Touhou Replay Showcase

A clarification on how we pick replays:

There are several factors in which we pick the replays that will be shown for a given week. These can be any of the following:

In short, the way in which we pick replays is not random - there is indeed a given set order. The reason why your run may not have been shown yet is because we have a very long list of replays in queue, and most of them were submitted during the first week. Your run definitely isn't abandoned yet - it will most definitely be shown on a future week!

Oh, seems I missed my replay  :3

I'm the one who did ISC's 10-4, Remilia's Fitful Nightmare, with no items and in two loops. And yeah, Remilia has to move to that exact position or a bit higher for it to be possible. I learnt it was possible after seeing some Japanese replays on Niconico, and since I just couldn't damage her enough before the first loop started, I ended up trying to beat her in two loops. After I while, doing only one loop (the first or the second one) was rather easy, but actually surviving both was indeed really difficult, specially because of the luck factor involved.

lol missed the stream, but I'm Lyrical Ririka. I did that run back in January 2015. Not one of my best runs in the game but I submitted it since I figured no one has ever saw a solo human scoring before. BTW, I used bombs on the stage 4 fairies because Reimu can't kill the fairies fast enough, even with the safespots, to give you time to POC before the next pair of fairies come.

Soooo...
I am not sure where I am supposed to talk about problems/questions of the stream itself, but I figured there was no better place than here (?).

Basically, for some reason, unless I am missing something, the latest Stream was locked on its highest quality. My internet is not very good, andddd... yeah, you see where this is going, right?

I could not really watch the stream at all... it buffered about every 20 seconds, and the delay keep getting bigger and bigger until the chat was commenting on stuff that would not happen on my screen for about 45 seconds or so... yeah...its not very enjoyable to watch it like that to be honest.

In the previous streams, this was not a problem since I could reduce the quality myself, thus, there would be almost no buffering, and almost no delay (Maybe 3-5 seconds of delay after a ton of watching but I can live with that). Sure it wouldn't look as good to me, but at least I would still be able to watch in almost real time. I was not able to do that on the latest one though...

Thus, I was wondering, if it isn't very inconvenient, could you bring back the quality options, like before? If it IS inconvenient or you can not for whatever reason, well that's fine, at least I tried  :V
Title: Re: Touhou Replay Showcase
Post by: KirbyComment on January 08, 2017, 05:14:43 PM
I'm pretty sure quality options being there is completely out of control by the streamer. I believe it's based on your view count compared to other streams currently online. So it gives quality options to the Top 1000 streams with highest views or something like that.

Feedback I'd also like to give... Last time I checked, there were still no links in the channel page that direct to the schedule. There's alot of people who don't know the schedule when they come to watch, so it would be convenient if the schedule was either in the channel page itself, or linked to it in the channel page.

Noted. I'll probably start using the channel feed to post the stream schedule from now on. Or perhaps link directly to these two respective topics. Not sure which of the two solutions would work better. I'll probably use both.

I know I'm also late about this but I've received news about this already, no problem.

Also, as a side note, for anyone participating in DRC, if you want your (final!) run submitted to TRS, make sure you state it as such in the notes! That way, it makes it clearer for me to find out who wants their replays shown for next week's DRC edition.

Well, I voted for "don't increase"; I haven't missed a TRS so far (except once when I was in hospital), but I just won't have time to keep up if it's going to increase. In the event that "Have a second stream on Sunday" ends up winning, can I plead that the schedules for both streams are published together so that people who don't have time to watch both can decide on the one they prefer?

Indeed, they will be published together. I try to think of it as more of a part 1 + part 2 when doing so, as I want to weight these equally.

The reason I am increasing the amount of replays per week is due to the ever-growing queue. The rate of receiving submissions is increasing to the point where 10 a week will definitely not be able to keep up. It might be inconvenient to plenty of viewers but I feel that this is the best solution to combat such an issue.
Title: Re: Touhou Replay Showcase
Post by: KirbyComment on March 21, 2017, 02:04:07 PM
Assuming an additional stream on Sunday is what will be happening, I don't know if it's assumed there will be 10 streams on both days. But depending on how fast the queue grows, maybe you could also just do something like 8 runs per stream, so that's 16 a week. Just to see how that works out. Personally I think the streams, as they have been so far, are pretty lenghty and making them slightly shorter, but still have significantly more runs a week might be more convenient. It's just an idea, so it's up to you people whether that's necessary, since as I said, I don't know how fast the queue grows.

This might also be a good idea, having more runs overall across both days but perhaps slightly less per day. I would definitely consider this, but the number of submissions keep on increasing. It might have to come to a point where I'll have to temporarily close submissions, but I'll see about that.

And yes, I have decided that the additional stream is what I will be doing from this week onwards. Lists for both days will be posted prior.

You know, ever since I created Touhou Replay Showcase, I always felt something was missing. Something that more or less represented the entire Touhou gaming community, rather than what we are focusing on right now. But for the longest time, I could not figure out what the stream needed. Sure, we've had a working system since the very start, but I feel that we aren't really showcasing what it really means to be a Touhou player.

However, over the past week, I came to the sudden realization regarding what Touhou Replay Showcase really needed. The answer lies in the many fan-derivative works of Touhou people have created. In other words, we needed Touhou fangames. Not only do most fangames take on a direction that is reminiscent of what Touhou games are usually like, they also include original compositions, original characters, and most importantly, original patterns and systems! Now THAT is what Touhou Replay Showcase should really cover. We wouldn't really be the most accurate stream if Touhou Replay Showcase only covered ZUN's shoot-em-ups, right?

Therefore, I have come to a consensus. TRS will officially be changed to Fangame Replay Showcase. We aim to show all viewers what it really means to play Touhou, and that anyone can make and play a Touhou game. Games that will be covered include:

Danmakufu
Len'en
Seihou
Touhou (Chinese version)
Touhou fighting games
Samidare
Great Fairy Wars
Genso Rondo
Ms. Estacion
Genso Wanderer
Phantasmagoria of Flower View
Labyrinth of Touhou
Enter the Gungeon
Undertale

Thanks for everyone's appreciaton towards Fangame Replay Showcase!

With two days to stream and the inclusion of fangames, there's gonna be so many feats to show off.

Commentary for the mass amount of fangames ought to be pretty interesting, too.

I'm gonna submit all my Fangame runs right away! Make sure to stream them while telling everyone about all the lore regarding them, I'd imagine people would love to hear about the storylines the developers did work so hard on... Also maybe we should host an event in real life in which we do something like stunfest but with Touhou fangames only, of course including the specific things you mentioned in your initial post Satorical.

This would be a quite grandiose idea in which I'd imagine we'd finally be inclusive towards the many fangame playing people that have contributed to this fandom for a long time, instead of, as a constant, excluding them like what currently is the case. I'm honestly looking forward to this happening; yes, I'd be willing to participate in that too!

Oh, if you're accepting Phantasmagoria of Flower View replays now, I got one for you: Replay Link (http://bin.smwcentral.net/u/12382/th9_udSA01LunaticCOMvsCOM.rpy)
It's a battle between two Lunatic AIs, and it lasts for OVER 9000 seconds!
(Yes, I know this is an April Fools joke, but the replay is genuine, if you're really interested.)

Thanks for the submission, but it's something I cannot accept at the moment. Replays have to be played by the player, and I've seen some of these versus AI replays. Some of these go for upwards of hours before finishing which is unfortunately not feasible.

I'll writeup the list for tomorrow later this evening.

Alright, fair enough. Well, I guess I could submit my best Extra Stage run of Great Fairy Wars then, which I can assure you was played by me and not an AI.
Replay Link (http://replays.gensokyou.org/download.php?id=38236)
I finished with 1000% Motivation and scored 81,556,520 in this run.
(Note: The slowdown rate is a rather high 8.29% because it was played on an older computer that lagged whenever there was a lot of ice on the screen.)

Uhh... Say...
Is there a way to see the runs submitted or something?

I submit one about a month ago or so and apparently it still has yet to appear. Now Idk if either the queue is that long, or I might have never actually submited it in the first place and I just don't remember it correctly....or maybe it was invalid for some reason? XD.

Alright. This has been an issue for a while now, but I'm going to come clean with the state of the TRS chat.

Now, you see, I've always been in the view that taking a stance of neutrality was the best course of action. No matter what happened, I would just let it be and let the chat handle problems among themselves. I figured that if I went along moderating the chat, TRS itself would be branded as a hugbox community, which is exactly what I'm avoiding. Therefore, I never took action no matter how severe things have gotten. I've felt that not having to silence or ban people is the best case scenario for everyone involved.

This is clearly not the case as of now, however. The chat has been absolutely disgusting. Toxicity is rampant among people's runs, disrespect throughout the stream, random trolling and shitposting. Particularly among a few individuals, whose sole purpose is to show up to the chat to troll and talk with a blatant tone of sarcasm. What's even worse is that a few such people even hid behind alts to do so, and specific submissions were done with the intention to mock TRS and what I do. These are all problems I could initially let slide, but I know that if I keep letting this happen every single stream, things will not end well. In fact, signs of drama had already begun sparking and quite a few people dislike the state of the chat as is.

Therefore, from here on out, I will enforce a zero-tolerance policy. The moment you step out of line, or the moment I know that your intentions on TRS are ill-willed, I will be permanently banning you. It's one thing to be a harmless troll, it's another to breed blatant toxicity. It doesn't matter what kind of a run is shown, you are expected to show some decency to the players. Remember, YOU are submitting those runs. We simply broadcast them for the viewers' enjoyment. Several of you have already clearly shown to be problematic in the chat - you know exactly who you are. Whether or not you play the games, whether or not you are skilled at scoring or survival, I will not discriminate. This applies to everyone.

If, after enforcing this zero-tolerance policy, problems continue to persist, I will be shutting down Touhou Replay Showcase forever. It has been an enjoyable time, but I will not encourage breeding a community that consists of rude and elitist pricks with zero tactfulness.

Thank you for listening, and thank you for watching.

From today on, I will be announcing some changes as to how submissions work.

Replay submission forms will now be done on a per-month basis. This means I will no longer be using the original sheet, rather I will be making a new submission form each month. The reason behind this is to make sure that replays are shown as early as possible, and to also eliminate any potential problems with queues.

The following will be imposed as a result:

In addition, I will be lifting a couple of restrictions I've had previously. To compensate, I will now permit runs that game over, and also runs that are pure pacifist throughout the game. It is likely that I will be fast forwarding replays that consist of full game pacifist, however. This means that now any type of replay can be submitted.

Here is the submission form for May 2017. (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdDhSMcY7jh_7rUK_SeSUSsdYIHlfcRpIcQ-Ml1m_vqb1HAMA/viewform)

That sounds reasonable -- but what about replays submitted previously that haven't been shown yet? Are they still in the queue, or should we resubmit them if we still want them to be shown?

For now, I'll consider them "in the queue" - but only if there is still room to include these. If not, I'll say when to resubmit them.

Ehhhh...

I will be honest. Not much of a fan of the whole "theres a cap of x number of replays, once that's reached, the form is closed and nobody can send anything until next month".

I mean. I don't know how many replays do you actually get and how often... But if theres too many that it forces you to close them halfway thorough the month, that would be problematic I believe.

Its basically encouraging everyone to spam replays asap every month, potentially closing the form too soon.

This is just my 2cents though. Hopefully it will work just fine.

I had to do this precisely because there's a huge backlog and I took several measures to reduce the queue. There is both a cap on the total number of replays and the amount one person can submit at a time, so the incentive is to make people think about what they really want to submit. I do not think it will encourage replay spamming for this reason.

June 2017 submission form (https://goo.gl/forms/O2rOvdePHBdlucJr2)

As a reminder, you may only submit ONE replay per month. Some types of runs (spell card only, scenes, versus) may be submitted in batches, no more than 5 scenes/3 versus per submission.

Alright, I just sent a replay, and I stated it on the comment section but I might as well state it here, I would like if that replay took priority over the replay I sent before (Show it earlier).

Also technically that old replay was sent before these new rules. Does it mean it will be getting show sometime the next month?

I have a replay I'd like to submit for July, and it's quite interesting... but the only way I could get the clear was to use MarisaBugged. Is that allowed?
Edit: Clarified over Discord, bug use must be specified, otherwise allowed

Just to clarify: there will be no TRS this week.

I'll create the submission link for July shortly.

Info check time.

I have been thinking about an inclusion of various danmaku fangames on TRS in addition to our current list of official games runs to spice things up a little and to give more exposure to said games. I will be hosting a poll about your thoughts on this. Should TRS begin regularly accepting fangame replay submissions? Would you like to see them?

Link here (http://www.strawpoll.me/13546830).

Some information about this:

Here is a list of known and accepted fangames for reference (list subject to change).

東方邪星章 ~ The Last Comer
東方導命樹 ~ Mystical Power Plant
東方桃源宮 ~ Riverbed Soul Saver
東方白塵記 ~ White Names Spoiled Past
東方魔宝城 ~ Book of Star Mythology
トライフォーカサー ~ Outside the Traditional World
Spell Card Collection
新約・東方幻想殺 ~ Re.Phantasmagoria of Imagine Breaker.
東方天華楼 ~ Frantically Forbidden Fruit.
東方幕華祭 ~ Fantastic Danmaku Festival
东方夏夜祭 ~ Shining Shooting Star
东方花逐夜 ~ Touhoupachi Blissful Death
东方幻梦笺~Touhou Phantasm Dream
東方海恵堂 ~ Marine Benefit
東方夢終劇 ~ Concealed the Conclusion
東方風魔録 ~ The Story of Eastern Wind
東方命萃酒 ~ Resurrection of Heaven's Liquor
東方落流星 ~ The Shattered Sky

If you are unfamiliar with any of these titles, look them up on YouTube or Touhouwiki.

Same restrictions as official game runs apply (once a month, etc), and note that you may only pick either official or fangame for that month, not both (in other words no two submissions).

Replays must be in video form. Reason being is that I lag a lot when streaming fangames. Having the run recorded on video makes it much less of a hassle for me. Videos also mean a bit more room for flexibility in your end, so you can show it in the way you want. They can be unlisted, you just need to send me the link.

This will take into effect starting August 2017.

August 2017 link is up. (https://goo.gl/forms/NrZ9cN65i8fjBvi83)

All guidelines posted from before apply. Main difference is game field requires you to enter a custom game now, and also I got rid of "skips" since I don't really do that in the first place nowadays.

Alrighty. Remember the "something special" thing that I mentioned at the end of this afternoon's stream? Well, this special event that I'm going to hold next week...

...involves the farewell of TRS. That's right, after this month ends, I will no longer be hosting TRS and it will become a mark of history.

Because this is Touhou Replay Showcase's finale, I will be using a unique form submission for this day. It will be the usual "make one submission of your choosing", however I have also included some feedback at the end of it. It's not mandatory, but I would highly appreciate your thoughts. It'd be interesting to see how all kinds of different people think!

This will be held on September 23rd (the upcoming Saturday). Because I do plan to have a lot of runs for this day (let's say around 15-20), I will start 4 hours earlier than the usual time. So let's say my usual start time is 12pm at my timezone - I will be starting this at 8am instead. Since I will be showing quite a bit of these runs in a sitting, I'm starting earlier to allow more time.

Here is the submission link for the final replay showcase. (https://goo.gl/forms/KEkpwZ4vt1RV9m603)

Unlike previous weeks, I will not be announcing the replay schedule.

Thank you everyone for your continuous support. It has been a great year and I enjoyed seeing everyone's runs. I would not have come this far without all that has happened.

And now, it's time to present Touhou Replay Showcase statistics! All of the numbers were compiled from my stash of .txts which contain all the information about what runs I chose, descriptions, etc. All I did was a simple Ctrl+f with the count function on Notepad++. Do care that because of this method, some numbers may be slightly off, but for the most part these numbers should be accurate to a fair degree.

TRS has been running from September 13, 2016 to September 24, 2017. That's 376 days of its total lifespan.

The total number of runs submitted and showcased is 723.

By the looks of it, Touhou Replay Showcase ended it's retirement and is now being run by Maribel Hearn.
On his site he created a page containing all recent schedules (https://maribelhearn.github.io/trs) and I assume they will no longer be posted here or other forums. As far as submitting replays go, you can submit one for every month, or several for StB, DS, ISC and VD. If anyone's able to, this link should probably be put at the top of the thread.

Apologies. I have not posted in a very long time, but I have indeed passed all related things to TRS to Maribel Hearn, who is not a user of forums. Basically just go to his Github page with TRS on it for all information, and if you want to upload replays for submission use Lunarcast for that. Gensokyo.org is insecure and unmoderated, and thus is too prone to vandalism.

I myself have no plans to contribute further to the project, so I am not the person to ask about things. Please contact all relevant staff members using Discord. Updated the front page in order to reflect that.
