ZUN has the final word in all this. I doubt he will let a big animation house to animate a Touhou anime. He was being kind of defensive over Maikaze attempt at A Summer Day's Dream. Sooner or later, ZUN has to take action over this, not for the fanbase, but for Touhou itself.

I really don't care if something like an exponential increase in the fanbase population happens, but if this fact actually affects ZUN's judgement over creating games... then, we have a problem.

Personally, I think it's highly unlikely for that to happen, since He's seen the fan population explode
and even made public speeches at the uni that he graduated from.
He's just gotten way too popular for certain people in... what? The past 8 years?
Same reason that I don't think any companies or studios will try to buy Touhou off ZUN, since if they do that, they'd get a bad repetition...
and you know what Japanease fans could do when something horrible happens to stuff they like.
Besides, I'd think that he would rather drink beer than care about all that.

ZUN doesn't really give a shit about fame and has expressed before that he wished the Touhou craze would die down just a bit, so it's pretty pointless to worry about hime being "corrupted" by it.

But that is pretty cool, and it perfectly demonstrates how TV can go nuts with what background music they use. As long as they don't have to pay outrageous royalties, anything is fair game.

That was actually pretty random, the music seemed way out of place although I'm guessing that's mostly due to knowing where it comes from.
