I created a new thread for this might-be fangame
just as Danieru Yosikoto says.

It's a fangame still in planning states (actually the base is still being worked on by Blargel (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=3366.msg298065#msg298065)), that's supposed to be based on Shoot the Bullet/Double Spoiler (mostly the former).

Also... the higher the level, the higher your knowledge of Danmakufu scripting should be.

I think I would be around Level 4.

You can choose which stage you would be in, but you have to be more experienced with Danmakufu scripting if you wanna be in a later stage.
If you want, you can script a few attacks for it.

Just so you know, I do NOT have the main engine done. I have a menu system that spawns bosses and writes stuff based on a config file. I'm currently working on my own Aya who now has all the effects done, but still doesn't take pictures... yet. I'm going to try to get the picture part done before I sleep.
And don't worry, I enjoy making systems for whatever reason so the chances of me dropping this is pretty low. I doubt you'd want to look at my ugly code anyway.

Also, everyone who is in this project should wait for Blargel to finish his SHAMEIMARU player script and the rest of the engine, to script their attacks.

If you're very experienced with Danmakufu scripting (e.g. Blargel-level), you would fit in such levels.
I'd stick you in about level... 2... for now.

Also, English part of the project name has been changed to "Script the Bullet', which is a lot closer to "Shoot the Bullet" than that ugly-sounding "Shoot the BulletForge".

anything but screwing around, until I started my
DS Aya ; _;). Not having any avatar probably doesn't
help either. But if I do end up doing those things
before you finish this (unlikely I will, unless I get bored) , I'll join ... I guess.

I'm going to try doing the Moe-izing, probably, but if you can Moe-ize your character beforehand, it could make things a lot easier for me. You should also put up a nice lil' description of your character, like ZUN does (though some of us don't really read those txt files...)

This could totally work. But first Naut has to give us a spriteset for a player character that looks like him. :V

I would go for ZUN, or completely new bullet graphics...
also with more than 255 bullets, so we can make 2 or 3 different "shot.txt" files, whice have different combos of bullets (that way we can be more creative - I would say 55 normal bullets that are in all three files and then two of three bullet ghapic sets, each consiting of about 100 bullets, combined in each Normal+SetA+SetB, Normal+SetA+SetC and Normal+SetB+SetC)

it's really easy to have 255 bullets. I already have a custom bullet or more for my character.

Buzzer1.wav is good for a cancel sound effect.
Failure1 and -2.wav should be good "invalid" sounds.
Close1.wav sound like when Aya finishes charging her camera...
Explosion5.wav sounds like a good explosion sound when a scene is cleared...
Flash2.wav, Holy9.wav, and Sword1.wav can be nice "twinkle" sounds.
...I'll look more into this when I wake up for real.

Oh god haha, already replacing graphics are we? You might wanna hold off on that as I plan to make a more user-friendly graphical replacement interface. Also, Option and Replay will be kept for now mainly for completeness. Since a lot of the options in StB are not doable in Danmakufu (controls, sound volume, etc), I will be taking suggestions for stuff that can be done (not now though). As for replays, surely you don't expect that the default Danmakufu replay will be useful for this project. I'm pretty sure there's a way to make a replay player in-game so I'll be experimenting on that in the future after the basic functions of the engine are finished and the bugs are ironed out.

Come on

You're gonna have to get permission to use people's shit (or even themselves) in your game. You've been told to ask about getting permission from people at least five times in this thread, when you shouldn't've had to been told once. If you're gonna inject people or blatantly steal their shit, you should probably make some effort to ask them about it. As of right now, I still haven't been asked if I want to be a player character in the game, though Saui did point to this thread earlier (but didn't say anything else). Truth be told, I don't care, do what you want -- it's not a big deal. The issue is that some people don't like being randomly chosen for shit they know nothing about. Just ask before you do, if you can.

Alright, second issue I have is this stage hierarchy. Aside from the blatant humiliation of being put on a stage "based on some guy's perception of my coding skill" (fuck man come on), you should at least honour somebody's request when they want to be on a certain stage. Forcing somebody to code for a stage they don't want to is not cool at all, especially when they volunteered to be in your project. At least make it look like you're not trying to blatantly blow them off.

"can i be stage one please?" "no wai man you're stage 10".

"I'd like to be stage 7 or 8 if possible" "you suck stage 2 for you"

Fucks sake.

An additional problem to throwing all of the inexperienced coders at the beginning is the fact that you'll have a bunch of supposedly "low quality" scripts starting off the game, with questionable balance and even more questionable entertainment value, whereas all the "good stuff" will be at the very end, and look significantly different from the start of the game. The balance, style, quality and entertainment value is going to vary so much in this project, and that's something to be concerned about, especially if you're forced to play them.

You're gonna have to get permission to use people's shit (or even themselves) in your game. You've been told to ask about getting permission from people at least five times in this thread, when you shouldn't've had to been told once. If you're gonna inject people or blatantly steal their shit, you should probably make some effort to ask them about it. As of right now, I still haven't been asked if I want to be a player character in the game, though Saui did point to this thread earlier (but didn't say anything else). Truth be told, I don't care, do what you want -- it's not a big deal. The issue is that some people don't like being randomly chosen for shit they know nothing about. Just ask before you do, if you can.

Alright, second issue I have is this stage hierarchy. Aside from the blatant humiliation of being put on a stage "based on some guy's perception of my coding skill" (fuck man come on), you should at least honour somebody's request when they want to be on a certain stage. Forcing somebody to code for a stage they don't want to is not cool at all, especially when they volunteered to be in your project. At least make it look like you're not trying to blatantly blow them off.

"can i be stage one please?" "no wai man you're stage 10".

"I'd like to be stage 7 or 8 if possible" "you suck stage 2 for you"

An additional problem to throwing all of the inexperienced coders at the beginning is the fact that you'll have a bunch of supposedly "low quality" scripts starting off the game, with questionable balance and even more questionable entertainment value, whereas all the "good stuff" will be at the very end, and look significantly different from the start of the game. The balance, style, quality and entertainment value is going to vary so much in this project, and that's something to be concerned about, especially if you're forced to play them.

Rethinking is good.

While there's still slots open, I'd like to reserve one of the slots.  I don't know quite which yet.  Can I take the Level 7 one?  I'll probably do something with one of the OCs being prepared for Wish Under Celestial Star or something.  (If not I can also take Level 1, or swap with someone in a lower level who wants a higher slot... if they want @_@ etc etc)... Assuming, of course that we're going to determine it based on a level progression or something; I like Naut's idea of just having everything all together and then divided up based on the difficulty of what we create.

Alternatively, keep them organized by pages, but have some sort of 'difficulty rating' given on the side (Easy/Normal/Hard/Lunatic/Extra/Phantasm/CAVE), with the later-numbered scenes in a set being the harder ones.  That way characters still stay within their same sets, and we can even do unlock conditions; but players can still focus on the patterns that were made to be easier compared to the rage ones - this works especially well if unlock conditions are set as low as Double Spoiler's were.

The thought is kind of insulting in a way.

Instead of that, for the skill problem we should just have feedback like anything else. Give suggestions for improvements and such. That way, people can script for whatever level they like. People will need to get better at scripting anyways, since we can only use tasks and not @mainloop.

PS: I'd recommended that everyone who will participate has at least read the intermediate tutorial by Naut and Iryan.

It's all about balance. You shouldn't base awesomeness on what they've learned, but what their ideas, and ability to complete their ideas. You shouldn't put people down, but we have a quality standard: Terrible scripts will be rejected- therefore not-as-good scripters will have to work a bit harder to meat our standards. We can even have a nice panel of judges to set our quality standards. (siigh, this reminds me so much of MoA...)

Umm, for the time being, can I reserve a Level 7 slot?

My other suggestion is that we could allow people who've completed the development of one level worth of scripts to develop another set of scripts with another character for a different level, but -only- once they've completely finished one set; and no pre-reserving another set, etc. etc. - but I suggest that suggestion gets put on hold until such time as we're a good way into development and things are starting to show lag/people aren't showing up to do their part afterall/etcetc

Little bit of backstory : Akiko came across a buncha kappa, who were messing about with some game consoles they had gotten their hands on, and after they had reassembled one of them, she joined in. Which led to a fight when she had lost it, and broken quite a lot of the kappa's equipment in the scuffle. She's not been allowed near there since, but she's managed to get those kappa back on her side again, and they use the stuff outside now. And that caused another fight one day when it rained. Unlucky.

You're gonna need to be more organized than that. Come on man. Before you even start telling them to make scripts, come up with a naming scheme for the files because the config files will need to get the file paths of all these bosses. Come up with a way to organize all the scripts. Tell them where to put the sound files and the images so they know where to find everything. In fact, the sound set needs to be the same for everyone so you might need to decide on that as well.

You get the idea.

Also yeah, some sort of basic file organization scheme is probably a good one.  If not just to provide us with a link to the bullet sheet we're using and to tell everyone that all image files should be in an \image\ subfolder.  Plus general guidelines on what we should be making shots possibly worth score-wise; etc. etc.

GOOD LORD DO NOT USE SHOT REPLACE EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER. (well, unless if you need to use shot replace.)

Ok, so basically, you can make custom shot sheets, and define the rectangles. and then you call them using a function i the script, and then you call the bullets by ID's

...jeez I suck at explaining. Find somone who knows how to explain :V

Wait, erm...  Okay, now I'm REALLY confused.  You just said using the CtC bullets are okay (EDIT Okay you said sound effects, but this still doesn't change the fact that I have neither the CtC Sound Effects nor whatever shot sheet we're going to use.  I know how to generate a custom shot sheet and stuff, but I don't plan on using one, and I want to know what shots we're going to be using as standard for this project.  This is... kind of important to figure out really early, you know.

If we're going to actually start scripting, the two things we kind of need as a standard baseline is the shotsheet we're going to use and any default sound effect pack, so that we can all build our scripts around it instead of having them explode later on due to conflicts.

I hate to harp on, but I was just recently part of a massive collaborative romhacking attempt (ASMT) and things like this... kind of need to be stapled down really early.

I don't know why I decided to hold this question off for such a long time, but isn't it easier to just make ~5 Photo themes instead of making a theme for, like, every character (if that's what I think you're trying to do)?

It kind of does fit more as a stage theme; but I'm comparing it in style to the StB/DS themesongs, which used a lot more of a gradual design building from quiet white noise and stuff (Which it would be cool to roughly imitate for ours); either way this is really good.

I actually wouldn't mind it to still sound something close to this.  The main similarity in the music between StB and DS's title theme though is a buildup that starts quiet, usually behind some static/whitenoise type sounds, and then chimes in, then fades back out.  If it was a little slower, that'd also help; the DS/StB title themes feel rather relaxed, while this sounds more active.

You know what I mean?

It's an awesome attempt, but it feels like it starts off as energetic and hectic as StB/DS's title themes ever end up.  Still, this version could be a stage theme, and a "reduced", quieter/slower, simpler version could serve as the title screen.  (Don't let it sound like you should just shave instruments off though; try to add something to help make it seem more relaxed maybe?)

Either way, seriously, this song is awesome <3

Michelle is an angel who died long ago. However, she was later brought back to life through events yet unknown.

She is now immortal, and fills her old post as the messenger of heaven.  Her Angelic Treasure is the divine bow "Issan  Kesemen Nesem", which is Sometic for "Bow of Past and Future". She has never missed a target; at least, until Naut visited her.

Her danmaku tries to force the target into her arrows' trajectory. It serves mainly to complement her bow and arrow skills.

It is rumored her arrows can go faster than Yomou during a slash.

Not sure if it's really my place to say anything, since I'm not affiliated with this project, but I think the song sounds wonderful and will no doubt be stuck in my head for a few days now.  A few things I would change, though. The drums seem a little jarring at times, and you might want to quiet them down a bit. The dynamic range is rather large compared to a Touhou song (not really a complaint, but it stands out). I'd also suggest bringing out parts of the background (Really not sure what it's called. The counter-melody sort of "beneath" the main one).

In any case, excellent work.

I agree with the circles probably being too small for the butterflies, but the hitboxes COULD be that size...so I think you just just try to make them stand out more. As in, a white interior to the circles instead of a light version of the color of the butterflies. ZUN does it that way, IIRC. Also, as for the "pointy stuff", I happen to like the top set of needles the most. Could you make them less white, though? I don't think any of them look that good with so much white. (But don't remove the white completely, either...)

(For the follwing look at the earlier posts, color slighty changed - more fading)

I was thinking of adding the following, too:

No, they should be fine.  At least I think they should.  I haven't gone in and micro-zoomed in on them, but they look like they were set on a grid properly to me and so shouldn't have any issues.

The question is about how big the hitboxes will end up, since they're kind of auto-generated by Danmakufu...

Btw... please DON?T give me credits...
I used a tool inside a program to create the bullets.
The Program was "PhotoImpact 13" (or X3).
I changed the shape to "Userdefined Shape", this is where I found all the other shapes (Notes, Anchors, Gears, ect.).
Through I did put Efford into it, by making them look kinda in Zun,s Bullet Style (White with Colored Outline)

I am not sure if I should get myself bumped to EX Stage, seeing how I was the person who got the Idea for this, as well as the person who is making a shotsheet especially for this...

Getting an EX stage is more about difficulty. Also, Custom bullets, I mean, aren't too much, I mean, my boss is using a complete custom shotsheet, which I've drawn pixel by pixel. Just saying.
