Someone please tell me how I can get out of this hole and cap it in a run because I now have almost no motivation to play. I've now gotten to the point where I get extremely nervous when getting to half past 4 and that ruins my timing even more. I have no idea why I was so nervous on this run because whether I capped it or not, it's a terrible score for me.
Play a different category or a different game altogether. Take a break. If you're at a point where everything is just a painful and slow grind and you don't think you're close, then it's best to try something else (or maybe not play at all at least for a while). Thanks for the suggestion but I basically just came out of a period where I was barely playing. Got a total of 16 clears in December/January and didn't play on most days simply because I had no motivation. Hourai Jewel is giving me that motivation right now and I'm gonna try and do fewer clears but learn/improve my route since I guess a better potential score will give me motivation. I don't think I'm far from a PB either, or at least I wasn't before. In November got a mean score of 5.28b but Dec/Jan both were 5.15b. Also, I rust really easily so I don't think a break is a good idea.

...How did you manage this? XD Which shot, what difficulty?
Did you bomb at the spells you died to?
I didn't even save the replay because I was so mad, even though I wanted to keep it to document my mad dodging skills :(l
MarisaA, Hard. I performed almost flawlessly up until Stage 5. Nailed my UFO chain, was dodging stuff that I usually auto-bombed, felt incredible. Then I died twice in quick succession during the stage which got me frustrated and made me lose my focus. My performance fell apart after that. I didn't even save the replay because I was so mad, even though I wanted to keep it to document my mad dodging skills :(
Vs. Nitori, I got hit and I fucking had to start all over from the beginning. Plus I was on Easy.
WHOEVER MADE THAT FUCKING OVERDRIVE VIDEO IS GOING TO DIE. I DON'T CARE IF IT WAS A PARODY OR NOT, EASY MODE IS NOT ONLY FOR KIDS.
I have brought great shame upon my family, for today I got hit by Nue's Mysterious Snake Show.Don't worry, I did too. This spellcard stresses me out a lot for some reason.

Poor new girl, she unwittingly struck a very sensitive nerve with you guys. Most of the Touhou-playing community *does* mock this board and its administration for their arrogance, but I guess you can't do much to those people because they can't voice their opinions here, for fear that they might lose their accounts and not be able to contribute anymore. Which is, coincidentally, why this board has become so irrelevant and is being superseded by a comparatively smaller forum.

Edit: Someone bloody tell me how to deal with Cirno's shotgun.I usually start the near the left side of the screen then as she shot bullets piramids I go back at the bottom of the screen and then to the right side of the screen all of this unfocused for more speed to outrun the shotguns then when she stop firing them and start the other attack I get focused and stream trought it while I count three repetitions of it and then I try to go the nearer possible to one of the screen upper corner and then I repeat the first part of it keep in mind that return during the fight to the up per part of the screen is the hardest part of this tattic also keep in mind that if you get cornered by one of the shotguns if you can keep yourself calm and with a bit of reflexes you can go trought it this is particolary easy in Normal

I shouldn't play Touhou on an empty stomach. After a session of uninspired play, my record on Falling Leaves of Madness (Lunatic) has dipped below 50% again.

Wait, that can happen ? Wow.It's IN, I've 1cc'd it before. I was just unlucky that time.
Just keep trying, it`ll probably be like Kana`s attempts.
Apparently, Stage 4 Reimu in IN has the tendency to kill during cutscenes.
I think the problem lies in the bamboo forest stage itself, as you can die to Marisa and Mokou if you touch them during cutscenes.
I don't know about Marisa but you can't die to Mokou during the dialogue. You can die to Keine in the extra stage though. Maybe you just mixed them up.
It's embarrassing how often I've been killed by Extra Doremy's first spellcard.
Did the butterfly bullets get bigger hitboxes in this game, or am I just fucking up?

Shining Shooting Star just crashed on me.
I was entering Stage 6 with eight lives. More than enough to clear the game, one would have thought. But no, Tensei had an out-of-the-box trick up her sleeve.
No matter what game it is, I always skip the staff roll as fast as possible, because I'm scared it might crash just before I get a chance to save my score and a replay. After I've watched the credits once at normal speed (usually after my first Easy mode clear), then I'll usually speed through the credits on any future clears as well.

In UFO Extra after defeating the last spell card, I got hit by a random bullet and failed to complete the stage. It was a good game.Oh. Oh, that's painful, and so relatable. Same thing happened in Ten Desires Extra once.

Y'know, I think MS is actually a good game. Yumeko is a pretty fun fight, and Yuki and Mai aren't too bad as well. I like all of the characters and the music is amazing.MS stage 4 get a bit easier when you memorize how the little white bullets are fired so you don't need to search them in that messy background, I found stage 5 fun though with that costant bullet spam and the also costant pressure that having to be ready when the blue faries fire at you with aimed bullets, what I "hate" are Yumeko's aimed attacks they are too much bullets fired to much quick in my opinion so most of the times I end losing most of my resources on her
However, I really hate the stage portions of Stage 4 and 5. Stage 4 in particular. It hurts my eyes and I've had so many times where I've died because I couldn't see the bullet that hit me. Why did ZUN think this was a good idea? :V This stage alone makes me not want to play the game. >.>
Stage 5 is a bit better but I still dislike it.

So my copy of Great fairy Wars came in today so i inserted the disc, installed, all that. This game is very frustrating .... it doesn't seem terribly hard but the controls are stupid...i cant even get past stage 1 on hard at most i make it to the boss lol. its the charging and shooting button being the same that throws me off and make it hard to dodge. it was one of the things i hated the most about POFV but it wasnt as bad as cirno is pretty fast so not a good combination.

The original MSD should be at http://www.mediafire.com/download/zyyl5wgwr32iu60/Magical+Singular+Day.zip .Thanks! I played a little bit of it, it seems really awesome so far. Only issue is that boss fights seem to be over really quick; I'm not sure if I was using an OP shot by accident (MarisaC) or if they just naturally have their HP that low. Ah well, stage patterns are hectic enough that it's still a really fun game.
A few quick searches gave me nothing for the -Absolution- version, and I don't have it myself, so the best advice I've got is to find and ask Jaimers for it.

It is insanely hard, which is why I think it is a good practice tool. Maybe try pacifying to practice your dodging, and eventually you might learn to clear it more easily.Pacifying it sounds even worse than doing it normally... and, after finally clearing it today, I'm not touching this again until I unlock Hatate.
Here's my best pacifist attempt http://replays.gensokyou.org/download.php?id=41544
Seiran's first spell, The Eagle Has Been Shot, is an absolute piece of shit and has caused many of my resets now.Direct the first of Seiran's triangles to the side because they're aimed. Then make sure to get away from the next triangle's path by moving into a separate wall. You should be able to graze a third triangle, which passes by you, and kill the card soon after.
Can you just stop giving me bad RNG and annoying crisscrosses?
Can you not wall me?

I was also talking from a Lunatic point of view, which is way different from the lower difficulties. When a wave starts, it doesn't start out smoothly, there are some annoying crisscrosses that you have to dodge and I find them pretty tight as well.
That's how I've done it since the game was released, and it's an easy(-ish) method to get down. I still die to that card sometimes.

The strange thing is that it isn't that I need to practice Stage 3 more- After getting fed up with yet another run ending at Stage 3, I decided to Stage Practice it- I perfected it all no problem... wth.Oh, I know that feeling, in any game. I'll often be able to do well/perfect when practicing something, but when it comes time for the real deal, it's often choke city. I bet it has to do with the anxiousness/nervousness that tends to occur during on a real run.
Screw Stage 2, Screw Chen, Screw her last spell, Screw Stage 3, Screw Alice, Screw her Mid-Boss spellcard, Screw the post-Mid Boss section, Screw her opener, Screw her last...
But ESPECIALLY SCREW YOU STAGE 1 for making me waste 4 minutes doing essentiality NOTHING every single time I die to any of the above. Its the BIGGEST WASTE OF TIME.
At least as annoying as Chen is, she has a small but real chance of killing me which makes it kinda interesting. Stage 1 does not, and its only fuction is to act as filler every single time I die at any point beyond it.

Please send help... I think I am slowly going insane from all the Stage 1 repetition...at least its not lolk stage 1 which is actually threatening and the stage portion drags on for 2 fuckING MINUTES
In really bad days I swear I see it more time than the whole rest of the game.
Why do I find MoF so hard. There's just something about it which makes me way more likely to die stupidly, and I don't know what it is but I'd like it to stop.iktf except it happens in pcb and td as well
In sight. I am quite disappointed in myself. I feel like I should have already got this. After all, this isn't EoSD or UFO or LoLK LNN, where such time would probably not be enough, its fucking PCB. It literally does not get any easier than this, but I somehow manage to fail anyway.Where in the right mind did you ever come to the conclusion that LNN is easy?

It literally does not get any easier than this, but I somehow manage to fail anyway.Do keep in mind that (while obviously important) you being good enough to LNN a game is only a part of actually getting it. A lot of things can go wrong in a credit even if you play on point the entire time, especially in a game like PCB, which, while generally considered easy, is very long (MoF is almost 10 full minutes shorter than PCB, one reason I believe many people consider it an easier game to LNN). It's always possible to get terrible RNG throwing you a situation where you simply can't do anything; nerves getting the better of you or, worst case scenario, have something like your keyboard fail on you like it happened to Yats
Unfortunately, that's the nature of LNN. It is not a goal that you can just snap your finger and get on the fly, unless you're really proficient like some of the japanese players (Or just really guerilla like yats).
When I went for my first PCB LNNN, it took me a year and a half, and at that time I'd already had about 400-500 hours total in the game. The fact that you don't have it yet isn't surprising, but shouldn't be discouraging. And don't think that UFO and LoLK are the only games that would take a lot of time to get. I took quite a surprisingly long time for Mountain of Faith (which some people even consider easier than PCB for some reason), and Yats took an uncanny amount of time for SA.
What I've learned about LNNNs is that they come when you least expect them. They're very random. You will never expect when that winning credit comes, but when you DO get it, it gives off an amazing feeling.
Do you stream by any chance? I'd like to watch you play sometime! :)
Do keep in mind that PCB does have a lot of challenging things like Youmu, some of Prismriver's things, and don't forget the lovely spam section you get in stage 6. So don't underestimate it. (You can underestimate TD though) By the looks of it, you're going with ReimuB too, who isn't very good at the spam. If the spam itself is giving you trouble, you could always do what I did and use ReimuA, or do what Yats did and use SakuyaB.
---
P.S. I saw a thread from you asking about border invincibility frames. Most people don't really consider it illegal. In fact, HS, the one who did the first PCB LNNN, used it on Hell's God Sword AND the spam section in stage 6. SOC and I used it to cheese Lunasa's second non in our ReimuB runs. PNG used it in his ReimuA run on one of the prismriver's attacks as well I'm sure. All these runs are still included in the LNN thread and recognized as legit :)
My stance on it, is that like in IN (where you get invincibility after a boss's final spell, allowing you to skip through bullets without dying), is that the game is GIVING you free invincibility. AKA, you will never die or get hit by any bullet, or fail anything. See, when you finish a border, you're always going to be invincible after the border ends, so my stance is that you might as well make use of it.
Where in the right mind did you ever come to the conclusion that LNN is easy?

it may not seem like it's much, but the gap from 3 miss to 0 miss is huge
Forget 3 miss, the gap from just 1 miss to 0 miss can be much bigger than it looks. One or two mistakes can still be spread around in so many different ways, but when going for no mistakes there's obviously no room for error anywhere anymore. Years ago when I was first going for a perfect VoWG Lunatic time-out, I was greatly encouraged after getting a run that was 3 miss, and even more so after getting a run that was 1 miss almost right after. However, it took another several days of very serious grinding, enduring many more 1- and 2-miss attempts, before I got over the hump and managed "that one run" that didn't mess up once. This isn't meant to discourage you or anything ILikeBulletZ, just saying that thinking you're "close" to an LNNN just because you got a very-low-miss run before is probably a mistake. LNN(N)s are always in a whole other tier for the reason I gave above, no exceptions, and no matter what you may hear from others about how "easy" or "hard" they may be compared to other games. But again, don't let this stop you - as long as you let go of the idea that you should have "had this" by now, you'll likely start finding it easier to keep up your repeated attempts at it (well, beyond your annoyance at Stage 1 at least lol).
which game tho
