Actually I tried creating this thread yesterday when it failed with a 404.

Oh well.

Here is what I am discussing about lately that is fully tentative.
All I need is refinement and I need some tips on it on what you think. Don't give me a "yeah, go ahead, that sounds good" I need to know what you think of an OC, an original character, story, background etc.

here we go

The year was Gensokyo Calendar 290 years since Meiji (GC 290) The outside world is around 2106 AD, and the world has evolved much greater than any development during the earlier 21st century. The 22nd century is a world filled with plastic and metal, a concrete jungle that is cast with steel and mechanics.

Down below Gensokyo, is the city now called Shinjuku City. Rather than a former district it once was, with the exploding population there is a need to continuously build upwards. What was formerly a street is now a giant building, a superstructure housing some 20 million people within its hyper-dome. Life support, food, shopping, business, holidays, are all done inside this super structure.

Outside, with the world population finally grown over to 13billion, it no longer has any space left for the human species to harvest crops and what's not. The world has lost all aspects of culture, religion and nature. It is a dire place and everyday, super builders in the forms of machines continuously build islands in the seas, in hopes of curbing the ever necessary need for expansion of the human race.

However, today, Japan may just receive a few new mountain ranges and a few forests.

2 weeks ago, an old shrine mistress has died, her name was Reimu Hakurei, the last of the Bloodliners of the Hakurei Blood. Further to the next week, a woman called Marisa Kirisame has too succumbed to old age in Gensokyo, the great mage, protector of Gensokyo has passed on.

They both left a legacy, but no children.

The Hakurei Border weakens, and the gravitational field is getting wobbly. A youkai sets out with 4 of the ones who know them best to search for inheritors of the great task to keep the Hakurei Border floating and Gensokyo from falling to crush down on them.

A task long delayed, now demands the most out of them as they search for the Hakurei and Kirisame descendants, all of them whom have no longer practiced the arts since a hundred years ago.

A time comes, and 5 people gathered to save Gensokyo from certain death.

They are Yukari Yakumo, Alice Margatroid, Sanae Kotiya (Deified humans age graciously), Remilia Scarlet, Morichika Rinnosuke.

Can Gensokyo be saved with a short 2 weeks? Or will it crash down to the super metropolis below, causing millions to die and destable the new generation of the world?

Trouble does not just brew on two ends, two mighty powers now clash in Gensokyo, and their goal was similiar, they want out. They are possibly willing to sacrifice Gensokyo for it. These two are none other than Mokou Fujiwara and Kaguya Houraisan. They will stop at nothing to break past the impenetrable barrier of the Hakurei.

Well, like I suggested to the above poster, this idea is good ^_^

I have a new spell card invention. Courtesy of Gensokai's Rika, made of polynylon exterior with stylish edges, and with a computer chip interior, being 2 millimetres thick in total, this card is called "TS Card" or "Transition Spells Card" for full name.

TS cards hold a certain number of magical spells per card and can channel inert magical energy like a normal spell card. Unlike a normal spell card, it doesn't go away with one use, and furthermore, TS cards can be used to add firing patterns into the on-board computer of Rika's lethal invention : DanmaGear Goukami.

To A-F:

An OC is fine dandy for me so as long it doesn't step into the whole -sue thing, but I doubt that'd be the case. Overall the opinion about having an OC is up in the air really since some don't mind while others outright regect the idea regardless. Maybe some snippets of information and dialog about the character without giving much of the story away would provide a better stand point for others to comment about the OC you have in mind.

There is something else I wanted to comment on, but I may be looking into it too much so I'll have to wait and see.

Hmmm, there are a lot of ideas that float around in my mind, but my laziness and my lack of creative writing skills get the better of me.

I've always wanted to write about a popularity/talent/danmaku contest to be held in Gensokyo to see which family (I guess you can say that?) is better: The Scarlet Devil Mansion or the residents of Makai?

The match-ups are perfect too:

Shinki vs. Remilia

Yumeko vs. Sakuya

Sara vs. Meiling

Alice vs. Patchouli or alternatively Yuki & Mai vs. Patchouli & Koakuma or even Yuki/Mai & Luize vs. Patchouli & Koakuma

PC-98 Alice vs. Flandre

Take it even a step further if Luize wasn't matched earlier: Luize vs. Cirno/Daiyousei.

Had I not got myself stuck in the current timeline path I have, that thing known as RiG. I'd have liked to made a story that followed the other path that could have occurred at the end of OLaD.

What would happen if Mima killed Reimu at the end of SoEW and reincarnated herself, but dooming Gensokyo's existance as a result?

The idea also goes to other games, what happens if *enter game villain* won instead?

Personally, I don't mind OCs, so long as the story is well written and keeps me interested. I've never had that many problems with OCs because for one it gives a us fresh new character to look at aside from the ones we already know up and down and left to right.

Alot of folks gripe about OCs because most make the sudden accusation that ALL OCs created are Mary-Sues (or at least will fall into such a category when the story progresses and the OC in question gains a power that's over the top), this isn't nessacarily true if the author can regulate the power/involvment of the character to a reasonable level. There are even some stories with a likeable OC in them, folks just over look them because most fanfiction containing OCs are drowned out by the dozens of Mary-Sues that surface.

Not sure if this will help, but it's what I think on the matter.

Well, in the next update for Mystic Mutation I'm currently debating if I should have
Yumemi using the Hypervessel against a T-Rex. I could use the dinosaur itself as a sort of 'new recruit' for the team Yumemi is pulling together so far,
but I dunno, everything else I got planned out it's just this aspect that's bugging me.

Also Rika maybe a next appearance if I can implement said appearance smoothly into whatever chapter she'll drop down in.

*Also spoiler tag'd for those who didn't read Mystic Mutation (which I'm sure is alot).

A poster on my site referred to creating OCs as an "unforgivable sin of fan works"; I felt that making them a. non-issues in terms of power/story-importance (Mika and Midori are Nameless Bunnies who got named) and b. only-to-be-expected (who here seriously thinks that Reimu's going to get to eighty without finding a successor to the Hakurei Shrine? Hence, Satsuki Hakurei), but I guess some people will raise a bit of a stink no matter what you do.

I'm of the opinion that the O.C.-hate is completely irrational.  If the story fails from a "Mary-Sue" type O.C., it will fail the same way with a non-original one.  Just remember to preserve the essence of "story" and I think your work will be fine.  I'm interested to see what results of your premise.

As you probably know, I hate OCs since practically never used right and turn into horrible horrible overpowered mary-sue types, or they end up stealing the show from what people ultimately read fanworks for, seeing and identifying characters they know.

OCs are alright as long as:

a) They're not overpowered, unless they're the boss-of-the-day that Reimu and Marisa have to beat.

b) They don't take most of the screentime. By definition any Earth Rabbit besides Tewi, any Lunar Rabbit besides Reisen, any named Fairy Maid, any named Zombie Fairy etc. would have to be an OC but they can't steal the spotlight since they're bit characters.

As always, good writing trumps BOTH (a) and (b), so I'm willing to give Haru a pass on that count  :P

I've been a bit worried about Mika and Midori's thus-far-final appearance, now that you mention it ... though I suppose it would be interesting to do something focusing on some "really weak characters", to whom Rumia would be about as powerful as, say, Alice or Patchouli would be to Reimu, with Mika and Midori as the "playable characters" ...

I also have, um, a few conflicting ideas for what to do in the "60 Years" line; either it would make Satsuki Hakurei redundant, or she could take the spotlight along with Marisa and Alice's daughter (they made a human-sized Independent Doll) and be like "tested" by some of the more powerful youkai to see if they'll be anywhere near as good as Reimu and Marisa, kind of thing ...

In before, so why did you make Haru, idort.

well, I don't intend to give it a bad ending, so some degree of power will be involved as in the end of the day, what we know about Gensokyo must be applied.

Here is one thing:
What is Gensokyo famed for?
- Danmaku
- Girls
- A border of fantasy and reality mixed
- It is sealed away in another dimension that co-exists with our own

So, because of the background, I think you cannot eventually somehow introduce an OC that has no power. Not Mary-sue regardless that being aside, the OC has to have something that makes his or her value in the entire plot of things to really work you know.

Oh by the way, I haven't commented on Mima's fic at all simply because I feel ballsy doing it, one can even say overawe is what I am feeling at its rich content. So erm...nah, there is nothing constructive for me to say on RiG so I rather not and just enjoy the work itself.

---------

On the story itself, I plan to introduce two OCs, and one of them will be a male.

Take note, the male is Marisa's counterpart.

Background for the OC - 19/F/Natsuki Hakurei (her real name is Asakawa [her father])

A dropout from the Metropolitan High School, who in a bid to escape mundane city life she seeks a purpose that is out of the "Hyper Megalopolis" that is Shinjuku City which consists of some 30 giant buildings governing all aspects of human life and activities for something more 'natural'.

She flew to a place in the Middle East, where today war is still strife as bids for power continue to fight amongst themselves and create unstable governance of a once beautiful people guided by culture and religion. She became a volunteer working for the Red Saviors (Red Cross obvious reference) and has a kind heart.

She is genuinely wanting to help others, but something in her plagues her a lot, why does the memory of her mother's death plague her so deeply?

"Please...never forget the Hakurei name, you may be your abusive father's child, but your legacy is one guided by destiny..." she said on her deathbed.

Since then, the kindhearted Natsuki has never failed to try to find her roots, but history has long covered her search in tons of unnecessary data, and with whatever little education she has, she is unable to find her past.

She is skilled in medical fields, since helping the refugees at a relief camp is her work, she is good at wrapping up wounds and the sort. Her sense of justice is almost childish, but she knows when to stop and when to hurl herself forward. Natsuki has very little savings and her father forbids her to see other men, which she still luckily, has not find a right one for herself yet.

An opportunity comes, and a man presented himself to her, his name is Rinnosuke, and he dresses in the strangest looking duds ever, with a pair of specs that are long out of date, and a get-up that resembles a fictionious character from a comic. He spoke in the language that Japan has long forgotten to speak, traditional Japanese.

-----

OC 21/M/Sora Kirisame/ (Miyamoto is his real name)

A successful young entrepreneur who views money as important as his life, owns a large business at a tender age of 21 running a chain of instant feed restaurants for busy people of the every bustling city life.

The business is in nature a restaurant, but very different with people walking in, thinking of what features they want for their food, recorded, ordered and machines process them into what appear to be gruel and the sorts and pumped into their mouths. It will taste the finest of food, but quickly so no waiting time, maximum efficiency.

In the future of Japan's megalopolis, Sora made it good by starting his own business. He wanted to evade his father's job, working as a librarian in the inner city district (low level access quarters) where crime rates are absurdly high in the National Archives. In the world where digital format is as widely used and nearly every book has been archived into digital wordings in databases, only he is holding on to the existence of a library that no one ever visits.

Down in this low activity zone where criminals gather, the library stands and walks a fragile balancing line to survive, in a bitter extension to take up more space as unused books come from sources all over, a fragile old man archives them all in his head, waiting for the day. Sora does not want to inherit this task, even when his father asked him with tears in his eyes not to abandon the mysterious 'work of the Kirisame' for the new and souless work above.

Sora is a good natured guy, but he cannot stand poverty, he hates the stink of the poor. Having been poor all his life until he learned a good deal of business, he understands all about the painful interactions of being poor. Proper healthcare evades him when he was young, it is a miracle he survived at all from a Malaria infection, something that should have been gone from the glossary of diseases long conquered by mankind.

He wants power, he wants respect, he wants all the girls he can lay his hands on, and he knows he will get it. He must continue his path, but somewhere inside, his crazed old man's quote of a 'Kirisame' made him feel uneasy, as if someone is calling out to him.

When a beautiful green haired woman appeared to him, introducing herself as Sanae, he jumps on the chance hoping to leave his seed inside her womb, yes, he is an animal in a human skin. He agrees to the task rather easily, taking Sanae by surprise, what future would he carve with his illicit desires and rotten mindset?

repostan this (http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/~albie/hosted/Mobile%20Zayaku%20U%20Donge%20notes.doc)

I don't have much fleshed out just yet, but basically it's a Touhou parody of Zeta Gundam - both a follow-up to and total retcon of that best-left-unnamed doujin I did a while back.

Starring the SSiB girls and casting the main Touhou crew as the antagonists, it ought to be incredibly subversive.  Moreso because I'll be contrasting the heavily-wrought drama of Gundam with the droll, flippant tone of Touhou dialogue for irony.

Aaaaaaaaanyway.  Back to practicing drawing mecha.

p.s. i dunno how i'm gonna get around reisen ii's lack of a surname

Maullar!

Will I finally have the honor of seeing new Touhou work from you?

Following your blog by the way.

----

Anyway, to add to the story I posted above:

Both OCs have no power as of yet, only they carry the last remnants of a pure and young Hakurei and Kirisame bloodline, naturally, knowing Gensokyo, Yukari could probably spirit them away to the realm.

The only problem is really just willingness, and then learning the ropes. I wonder if Gensokyo will get saved. Here is hoping someone would tell me some ideas in how this works.

Will our OC acquire the powers true to the maiden of the Hakurei and keep the border floating?

Will our male OC become the next defender of Gensokyo and abandon his lust for gold and money?

To be fair, Reimu doesn't develop most of her powers until after the PC-98 time line.  If you want, Natsuki could develop slowly like that as she eventually gains enough proficiency to be great.  As for "willingness," she's the type to that helps without delay, right?  If so, all she needs is time (ergo the problem).

As for Sora's case, lust and greed make for some impressive motivational forces when applied correctly.  Keep it and see where he ends up going.  Or have him tone down a little as a sign of maturity.  It works either way.

Everything else falls to character dynamics.  That's how I see it at least.

Theme: Humans are able to change, and thus able to become more powerful more easily. However, youkai who don't start out relatively powerful have a much greater difficulty increasing in power without a direct boost from someone else (c.f. Chen becoming Ran's shikigami).

I'll probably use this in my "60 Years" storyline. Maybe in conjunction with an idea I had for a story in which several youkai (mostly from Team ⑨) do become much more powerful on their own.

A point here: Nowhere has it ever been mentioned that Youkai lack the potential to become more powerful. All canon says about most of them is that they just don't try, no matter how much it may seem to benefit them. Marisa is the only one who canonically puts any effort into improving her talents and she arguably has more firepower than even Reimu, certainly a lot more than the likes of stage 1 and 2 boss Youkai. Laziness and contentment with one's current place in life are apparently intrinsic traits of Youkai, hence Yukari's laziness being described as "Youkai-like".

Not trying to influence your own interpretation here, just stating the canonical position.

There is something strange going on at the Moon.

Unexplained earthquakes (moonquakes?) rattle the lunar surface, and show no signs of letting up. Lunar Defense Force believes that nothing is truly wrong and opt to let things run it's course however, the Watatsuki's say otherwise and consult Lord Tsukiyomi for any information.

Serving Yuan Shao - Flandre, Mokou, Keine

Suggest roles for other characters of Touhou? Go ahead.

Kaguya should play useless princess if anything, I suppose given that it is Shu, she would play Meng Huo, the one who shifts around and had to be captured to perform for Shu for a near 8 times. (hence in Chinese, Meng Huo can also mean "LOL I DUNNO" as a joke term)

On note: revival of the Dynasty Touhou Warriors
Depending on how much(or little) history you intend to have is how this might work out.

Zhang Jiao - Patchouli
Zhang Bao - Ran
(Zhang Liang) -Reisen
Nothing special to distinguish here... magic wielder or illusionist

Dong Zhuo - Yukari
Lu Bu - Tenshi
Diao Chan - Iku
(Emperor Shao) - Chen
(Zhang Liao) : Suika
Considering where Zhang Liao starts out in history, this might work out better

Yuan Shao - Remilia
Other Yuans - Flandre, Prismrivers
(Wen Chou and Yan Liang) - Sakuya, Mei Ling.
(Xu You) - Keine
(Zhang He) - Mokou
The two on the bottom join to Wei after the fall of the Yuan

Wei
Mistress of Chaos: Reimu
Cousin (Xia Hou Dun and Yuan) : Marisa and Mima
Defender of the Shrine Mistress (Dian Wei) : Ruukuto
The Strategist (Sima Yi) : Alice
Just some readjusting

Shu
Lord of Nan Zhong (Liu Bei) - Sanae
Brothers in Arms (Guan Yu / Zhang Fei) -  Kanako, Suwako
Wise one (Pang Tong) - Yumemi
Strategist (Zhu Ge Liang) - Aya, Nitori
Undaunted Old One (Huang Zhong) - Eirin
Spear of the Faithful (Zhao Yun) - Momizi
Needs Ma Chao for the "5 Tiger Generals"
Ma Chao - Youmu
Ma Teng - Yuyuko
Also, Nitori could be Yue Ying

Nan Zhong
Cirno and Utsuho; not enough?

Wu
Needs Zhou Yu and Huang Gai for Battle at Chi Bi.  Sun Ce doesn't live long enough to matter.  Consider dividing up Eientei, undergrounders, and anyone else for here.  The list of "important" characters for this is too long...

Tenshi as Lu Bu... never thought about that.

I suppose since there are UFO characters, I add them to Nan Zhong team.
Mystia playing Wu Tu Gu. lol Zhu Rong is Rumia then.

Your plan was definitely much better than mine so I would use most of it if I begin on this project.

The other thing is, I gotta replay Cao Cao's campaign.

and erm...Suwako will die. (trapped in a castle by Wu)

Zhang He - Mokou, I have a hard time imagining it as she is more the sort of Lu Bu in my head. I sort of wanted to set them there originally so I just might change that.

Youmu should join Reimu (Wei) and act as defender of the shrine.  While Ma Chao should be Tenshi imo.

A bit something like that.
Oh well, for the moment I just need to read up on encyclopedia of the entire war of Chi Bi to start.

Maybe a 2 chapter per war thing to play off to.

Ten hours without a post? Ye gods.

Anyway, I'm going to go on record as saying that I'm a dork--no, I take that back, I'm not a dork. I'm a solid-gold dorkus malorkus for thinking this one up. Hell, the idea kept me up last night, just thinking up scenes and sequences. Also a title:

Basically, in the grand tradition of...well, Doctor Who, the good Doc TARDIS-es his way into Gensokyo. And, because he can't go anywhere without bad shit going down, he has to figure out why all the youkai are disappearing. Oh, and this takes place between seasons, so he doesn't have a companion.

Danmaku. Danmaku never changes.

Set in Fallout 3's world. The whole world has been turned ito a nuclear wasteland as the result of the Sino-Russo-American war (sooo Generals, LOL). The border has been weakened so much, to the point that Yukari finally retracts her power from the border, and lets traffic in and out again.

This idea could be played in two ways. Either Fallout3-esque tale or someone lucks into the formerly-bordered area.

E.C. 0001, November 15: Lord Tsukuyomi chokes on an Earth-imported pretzel and dies.

Hel-lo, Disgaea fan.

And that just gave me a REALLY BAD IDEA involving role-swapping (with Mokou in the place of a certain Overlord . . . or worse, his father, with a NEET replacing Baal).

However, that's not why I'm posting this.

Has anyone ever considered retelling a platformer with a Touhou character put in the main role?

And I'm not talking Reimu, Marisa, or Sanae in a Mario game, or Marisa or Alice in a Megaman [Classic] game . . .

I'm talking stuff like putting Sakuya in the middle of Braid -- somewhat uninspired, considering her having time powers and all, but the possibilities beyond that are fairly interesting -- or Mokou in MMZX -- if only because there's a lovely cast of characters for her to interact with (imagine Mokou VS Purprill for a moment if you will, or worse her against a certain Abysroid or even worse still, Leganchor*) -- or a long-forgotten character in a modern platformer.

And I just got a really bad idea involving Mima and 'Avenging Spirit'. Really bad ideas.

Still, anyone else been planning on putting Touhou characters in platformers?

* Those who've played the game know just why that'd be amusing.

Evil Fic:
Marisa gets a nice, say, stick through the lung. Not fatal, but a really good reminder of her mortality, especially when it ends up with Alice treating her...

Then Yukari decides to have an idea at the worst possible time, and triggers a Border of Tsundere and Yandere on poor doll queen, causing Alice to develop the bright idea of 'fixing' Marisa perfectly.

Ensuing BAD END as Marisa is tied down and modified in a rather horribly descriptive fashion into a sentient doll, each organ sliced out one by one until she is nothing more than a nice grade of plastic... And Alice, in full Yandere mode, decides to eat each one, in full view of Marisa, so that she can have that next bit of the magician's essence to help make the Doll more powerful.

That image'll give me nightmares. Please, someone, make it reality so I can scream at a Touhou fic for once. :V

---

Sillier(ish)... May as well reveal what my plans were for the Code Geass/Touhou crossover.

Summary of events shown: Lelouch (as of Episode 14 of R2) walks up to a shrine, ending up walking through what is coincidentally the Hakurei gate, and landing his ass in Gensokyo. A dealing with Remilia lets him pull off a mass subversion of fate, allowing him a chance to go back in time and save Euphemia.

Unfortunately, this also had the side effect of unleashing the Scarlet Sisters on Area 11 - only a lucky reveal that one weapon that the Black Knights had would weaken them, and the fortuitous arrival of Reimu Hakurei, saved the lives of most of the million murdered in the original timeline.

Meeting up with Reimu, Lelouch managed to end up Geassing Yukari into service with the Black Knights...

---

Big fact reveal: Geass would only work on Youkai if they wanted it to. Remilia would show this by getting Flandre to let her memories be modified by Emperor Charles L. Brittania, before the same being done to herself, with the intent of erasing any friendships with people like Reimu so that she could inflict the kind of mayhem she had long desired - and get revenge on the kid dumb enough to outwit her.

Meanwhile(?), Lelouch would find things going all too similarly - successfully pinning the blame for the unleashment of the vampires on the Empire and starting a (much better organized) attempt to capture Area 11. He also would find unusual allies in the Scarlet Devil Mansion team - turns out Sakuya's a hunter who was trying to keep Remilia benign, hoping this would break the century-based cycle her line had been stuck in. That failed, she quickly (if sadly) talks Patchouli, Koakuma, and Meiling into joining her on taking Remilia down.

Sadly, he chooses to bring Yukari instead of C.C. with him when he is forced to rescue his sister - and things really go wrong when, upon confronting Suzaku and being overpowered, Lelouch begs Yukari for help - only to be coldly told, "You told me I serve the Black Knights. That's different than serving you, dear. I can set up another Zero." She then leaves with Kallen, leaving Lelouche to his devices...

---

I wasn't sure if I would write the middle (between the end of the first season and the start of R2 - one year's time) or not, but the important thing was, the fight eventually settled down - no captures, no surrender by either side, but lines were relatively stabilized, splitting Japan into the Special Administrative Zone, the Developed Area, and the now-named Neo-Gensokyo regions among much of Japan. Every so often, one of the Knights of Round (now including both Scarlet Sisters, working under the names Remily Li Brittania and Flandre vi Brittania) would attempt to break the line, only to be held off one way or another... And it doesn't hurt that everyone was surprised by the introduction of a second Zero - who would turn out to be Eirin Yagokoro.

Lelouch, sent back to the Academy, ends up with Sakuya taking the place of Sayoko, and (for pure lulz value) Patchouli as a mysterious new instructor at Ashford Academy.

---

R2's progression would be severely screwed up by the new introductions - while we can ignore the finer details, three massive planned changes (spoiler'd):
* Shirley Fenette's life is saved - right as Rolo starts slicing into the girl, and sadly right after the wounds would be fatal, his time-stopping Geass gets one-upped by actual Time Stopping. Sakuya, having developed some caring for possibly the closest person to Lelouch in the interceding year, proceeds to beat the everliving crap out of Lelouch's fake brother. Maybe one fourth of the fight actually has them trading time-stops and tricks. The resulting different injuries give Shirley more time - before she manges to get into her last words, Koakuma shows up, rapidly figuring out that the wounds are fatal, but making Shirley an offer...
* Yep, Shirley takes it, becoming a little devil so that she could have more time. From here on, Lelouch has the support... But can't escape the resulting nagging feeling that he could have saved her from this entirely.
* Suzaku's launching of FLEIYA gets aimed, rather than in an attempt to scare of Kallen, right at Yukari. Having a hint of forewarning, Yukari quickly tries to gap the bomb into empty space, but ends up hit head-on by the blast. Tens of millions of people are saved, but for two shikigami, that's a VERY small consolation...
* Lelouch, armed with better knowledge than before, manages to face his father to greater success, this time inspired not by having nothing to lose, but by having friends who deserve better...
* ... It's just too bad he forgot about Remilia, isn't it? She promptly moves her way into the throne, promising even more oppression and rapidly forcing pretty much everyone together against her. It doesn't help that Flandre, serving as a diplomat, tricks the majority of the Black Knights into turning - only Kallen ends up choosing to stay loyal to Lelouch.
* The ensuing battles end up pretty spot-for-spot - Remilia herself proves an incredible military leader, but without heroes like Cornelia or Suzaku at her side, is lacking a critical edge. It doesn't help that certain people aren't willing to kill certain others....
* Neither side ends up at a lead, until poor Nina, ignored for the entire fanfic because she's not a fun character to write, finally completes the FLEIYA canceller... Unfortunately, about the only person that could use it would be Yukari. Say, shouldn't Chen and Ran have lost their powers a while back, given that Yukari was the ultimate source of them?
* Yeah, she's alive... and Lelouche immediately panics. The wording of his Geass technically puts Yukari at the command of Remilia, as she casually explains... Fortunately, she has no particular interest in the girl ruling the world, so she's just going to ignore it, and pose an intellectual challenge to Lelouch. The FLEIYA canceller, as built this time, can only carry one person. That one person was expected to be Yukari. Yukari, however, has blessed "her favorite Earthing", such that it will work for that one person. A massive logical mindgame ensues between the Gap Queen and Lelouch, until he finally figures out that it is...
* ... Cecile. Yukari liked the Wasabi Sandwich incident's results, apparently.
* ... Nope, she was lying. It's C.C. Time for green hair big butt to go save the world, Yukari promptly teases.
* Epic final fight here, ending in Sakuya managing to knife Remilia through the heart. "I'm sorry, my lady. Perhaps next time?" "Have the tea ready." Cold finish.

Yeah, I'm a total uncreative hack. :V

So I decided to start writing this, and I'm wondering how I should go about posting it.  If there wasn't anywhere in particular, I'd just put it in the "Short Story" thread with this as a headliner:

The last bit is because it'll take more than one post to showcase.  I wonder if that will work out.  Oh, and I embellished a bit.  Hope no one minds.

Doctor Who and the Forgotten Realm

Basically, in the grand tradition of...well, Doctor Who, the good Doc TARDIS-es his way into Gensokyo. And, because he can't go anywhere without bad shit going down, he has to figure out why all the youkai are disappearing. Oh, and this takes place between seasons, so he doesn't have a companion.
You know, you're not the only one to have this idea. I think it would be rather amusing to see the Doctor out of his element in a place where magic actually exists, and it would be fun to see the interaction between him and the characters (face it, he probably won't leave Sakuya alone once he finds out the SDM's bigger on the inside than the outside). Also, the potential for youkai EXTERMINATION.

The awesome thing about both Touhou and Doctor Who is their flexibility--you can basically make shit up and it'll seem like it belongs, it's what both the franchises writers have been doing for years. That, and it's just great fun to twist around plotlines to create something off the wall. For example:

Turns out Sakuya's a Time Lord, just in hiding like the Doctor and the Master were (3rd season of the new series), with her true self stored in her little time-stopping watch thingy. But the watch was busted some time ago, and now it won't release it. The Doctor unwittingly fixes it, Sakuya cracks it open...all of a sudden, the Doc isn't so alone anymore.

Furthermore, it turns out that the Lunarians and the Time Lords never had a good relationship, mostly because of Sakuya--which is why Eirin recognized her in IN. And now that Sakuya has all the powers of a full-fledged Time Lord, Kaguya declares her a threat, Eientei marches on the SDM, and the Doc and Sakuya have to stop it before it all goes to hell.

How's that? :V

seriously thinking about it:

Reimu ups and says
"I want donations, but I got to do something to show for it."

1st annual Gensokyo Marathon is on.

Participants: Sanae, Mei Ling, Reimu

It is a tough as nails tale as we go in depth with each of the runners their emotional states and what's not as they complete a 105 Mile race across Gensokyo's plains and forgotten places, all the while battling youkai and such when available, as well as converting youkai faith.

Pacers get ready at the 40th mile, and over 24 hours.

Emotional story featuring the hardship of real life reference for marathon runners.

True, that's why I don't even bother myself writing a Touhouverse-only story. I do have a story with Touhou characters in it (most prominent being Yukari) but that falls to the crossover category, and I don't think anyone would be interested in it.

I currently am writing a one-shot Yakumo-ke's Mother's Day special as we speak. Don't know when it will be done, though.

Something I wrote in my story isn't a far cry from that...

Quote
Mokou pulls a pack of cigarettes from her pocket. She pulls a cigarette out of the pack, ignites one of her fingers, and lights it. She holds the pack out to Cirno, ?Want one??

Idea that came from me expanding on my short story I wrote before with Tewi becoming infected with the rabies virus and then going on a rampage killing (and eating) Reisen before being put down by Mokou. Unfortunately, the bloodshed doesn't end there, as it turns out Tewi attacked a number of other rabbits during her time of going batshit insane, which leads to those rabbits becoming infected with the 'Inaba Lyssavirus' with the virus rapidly spreading through out Eientei like wildfire. It would seem that it is only a matter of time before it makes the jump to other regions of Gensokyo and ultimately bring about the largest pandemic the oriental land has ever seen...

You won't be finding any happiness here. Only death, blood, tears and
cannibalism

I shit you not, I had the same idea a year ago. Only mine involved faeries and the rage virus from 28 Days Later. I'll see if I can find the post, it's on the old board.

EDIT: Oi. (http://old.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=543.msg16335#msg16335)

Quote from: Apotheosis, 10/30/07
For the most part, faeries have very primitive thought processes. Their brains are locked on a constant cycle of "Eat-sleep-reproduce", with the occasional interjection of "Defend yourself". This mirrors most conventional animals.

Then there are those lucky few who are capable of higher, almost human-like thought. While it seems preposterous-almost ridiculous-that a dull-witted creature like Cirno can be capable of anything resembling "normal" cognitive expression, one must remember that the same "dull-witted creature" can create art, a skill not found in typical faerie societies. Granted, this art consists of frogs encased in ice, but that is neither here nor there.

Today, the faerie known as Daiyousei was experiencing a higher thought. This concept, at first glance, is thought to be quite primal in nature. The reality, however, is that it takes a lot of guts and a surprisingly large amount of brainpower to decide that it is time to run for one's life. Especially if one is running from a dear friend.

As she tore through the bushes and branches of the Forest of Magic, Daiyousei contemplated what she had just witnessed.

She was looking for Cirno, she remembered. They had a full day planned: freezing frogs down by the lake, throwing them at people, and repeating the process until the sun went down or someone killed them, whichever came first. When she came across Cirno, however, she was stooping over the body of the fay known as Lily White. "Hey, Cirno!" she had yelled. Cirno turned to face her, and Daiyousei knew instantly that something was very wrong with her friend.

Cirno's face and clothes were smeared with blood. Her hair was messy and dirty. A large lump of gristle was hanging out of her mouth. Lily's vivisected corpse laid behind her, staring at the sky, her typical jovial smile replaced with a look of abject horror. But, most terrifying of all, Cirno's eyes were bright red, as if blood had pooled and coagulated in the whites.

There was a moment in which the two looked at each other. Then Cirno rushed Daiyousei. Daiyousei ran into the forest, screaming.

They chased each other for a while. Eventually, Daiyousei ran out of stamina and collapsed against a tree. Cirno approached the fallen faerie, growling like a feral beast. Daiyousei attempted to appeal to the faerie's sense of mercy: "No...Cirno...please...it's Daiyousei! Remember?" By this time, Daiyousei was sobbing. Mercy, apparently, was  not known to the ice faerie, as Cirno drew ever closer. Daiyousei looked up into Cirno's eyes. Cirno grabbed a clump of Daiyousei's hair. Daiyousei continued pleading with her. "Please, no...don't...I'm your friend-" The last thing the faerie felt was Cirno's sharp teeth ripping into her neck, stifling her last screams of pain.

Hours passed. In the gloom of the forest laid the body of Daiyousei. Cirno had spared her. Apparently, she had eaten her fill of Lily White and, having no further desire to feed off of her former friend, moved on.

Daiyousei's corpse rose from the ground. A large hunk of flesh was missing from her neck. Her face showed no emotion.

But, most terrifying of all, Daiyousei's eyes were bright red, as if blood had pooled and coagulated in the whites.

Cirno had fulfilled her needs. In doing so, she created another creature like her: a creature that knows no pain, no fear, with boundless stamina, and an insatiable, primal desire to do just one thing:

Feed.

Over the next few weeks, Cirno and Daiyousei would create more of them. Soon tens of faeries would be afflicted, then hundreds, and then thousands, and soon almost every faerie in Gensoyko was infected. As most of the faeries who were attacked didn't die, the natural automatic reproduction process common to all species of faeries was not engaged. They ran out of faeries to feed upon.

They began to attack humans...
Jesus I write like a pretentious little bitch

I guess it's true. Great minds DO think alike! :V

Demour402's A better tomorrow is a sucky doujin.

CORE - Touhou Edition

Youkai Mountain faces it most destructive eruption ever with the awakening of the native Mountain God, which is Kanako's little sister, a Yasaka.
That is only however on the surface, something that threatens to doom Gensokyo's landscape in magma flow is something much larger, attaching with their previous encounter with the Komeiji and the 3 legged raven Utsuho, a devastating secret to keep from shame.

Someone is responsible, but before that a team of experts must dive through layers of molten rock, to stop the eruption at its core and destroy the source of the eruption, which a Yasaka is supposedly causing. This team of experts are willy, hyper active, overly confident and one of them cares more about lusting after her private love than the mission.

Will they come through?

I've been toying with the idea of Reisen mangling the shit out of Tewi. Bullied moe only goes so far before it becomes tiresome, and for me it ran out long ago.
Added to the fun: Tewi is a youkai, so she'll get better. And then Reisen can do it all over again.

Hmm. I'm trying to come up with an English name for individual danmaku-bullets, since the principle of creating them is universal in my fanfic-world, and they wouldn't necessarily be called "bullets" in the Western world (while danmaku as a whole is specifically an Asian martial art).

I think the problem with Danmaku is that is that... it's too general, covering bullets and lasers and everything... I'm not sure how to classify them and i've decided to treat it as a phrase to describe the 'battle' with the Spellcard rules ya noe? Like Zun Said, it'll never be a 3D fighter game like daybreak.. thou if Tasofro would bring that out...

Well, my earlier post (http://dizzy.pestermom.com/?p=danmaku) has a somewhat cohesive explanation for how that all "works" in-universe (if not in an actual 3D game), I just want something distinctly Western to call the bullets. This is for a story I'm working on which takes place almost entirely outside of Gensokyo and is mostly in the English-speaking world. "Bullets" doesn't seem satisfactory to me; nor does e.g. "magic missile" for some reason.

I tried using a thesaurus; problem is, it uses modern definitions of bullet, missile, etc., and since this is "if you can use magic at all, you can do it," the etymology would trace back for centuries.

Hmm ... etymology (http://www.etymonline.com/). Now there's a place to start ...

I'm irritated because I've been building up an idea for an epic story for a couple of weeks now, but I don't honestly think I'm good enough at writing to make something of it.

In short, the main plot is this: Since their appearance in Gensokyo, the Moriya Shrine's thirst for faith and power has gone unquenched. They turn to any and all means necessary to convert the local youkai to their faith, 'exorcising' any who would refuse (read: witch hunting). In self defense the Hakurei shrine has had no choice but to resort to similar methods, and as a result Gensokyo descends into a crusade between the two Shrines, each one attempting to destroy the other.

The story starts with a dazed Momizi waking up to see Sanae looking down on her. Sanae wants Momizi in particular to join the Moriya Shrine officially, claiming her exceptional sight would allow her to be an excellent scout against potential Hakurei insurgents. Momizi asks what would happen if she refused: Sanae points out the chain bound to her leg and the metal ball being held precariously above the lake by some nameless fairies. Momizi knows exactly why they've chosen her, though - they know her connections to Aya, an underground journalist who shows up the lies in Moriya propaganda. She refuses, and unsurprisingly Sanae tells the fairies to drop the ball and leaves Momizi to drown.

Trapped at the bottom of the lake, all hope seems lost for Momizi until a kappa appears in the nick of time and jams some sort of breathing device in her mouth. Picking the lock on the chain, she leads Momizi to her grotto in the hope of keeping her away from the Moriya squads. She introduces herself as Nitori, a local engineer who never saw an interest in any sort of religion and disapproved of the Moriya's methods. After hearing about Momizi's imminent execution she thought it only right to come to her aid.

The two discuss the situation for a while, angry that they are so powerless against the system. Suddenly, someone knocks the door - enough to shock Nitori, since she usually never gets visitors. Opening it slowly in case it's an intruder, she is surprised to find a maid offering her an invitation to a social gathering at the distant Scarlet Devil Mansion. Not exactly the most social person Nitori refuses, but a knife held at her throat immediately tells her it's not optional. The maid comments that she knows about Nitori's work against the Moriya shrine, and that's why the mistress asked for her personally. Reluctantly Nitori agrees, but Momizi insists that she comes along as well - given that she's supposed to be dead she can hardly stay around Youkai Mountain. The maid agrees, saying 'An enemy of Moriya is a friend of ours'.

On the trip to the SDM, Nitori and Momizi ponder whether they've just been enlisted by the Hakurei shrine. Taking a boat across the lake where the mansion is located, they find themselves fellow passengers alongside a young swordswoman and her kimono-wearing, fan-wielding mistress. Momizi attempts to start conversation with the samurai, considering herself somewhat skilled with a blade, but the girl is too absorbed in polishing her weapons to notice.

On the island, a fight has broken out between a girl in suspenders and a useless-looking rabbit, and the arriving crew have to break it up so that there's still a mansion for them to visit. The maid who invited them to the mansion leads them all to the dining hall where they will meet with the mistress of the house.

On their arrival, the group are confused to be welcomed by a young blue-haired girl, introducing herself as Remilia Scarlet. Mokou, the girl in suspenders, begins to laugh uncontrollably, thinking she's the target of a practical joke. Ignoring her, Remilia thanks the remainder for arriving and proceeds to explain why she called them all together.

Remilia, too, is tired of the war between the two shrines of Gensokyo, but it isn't normally possible to interfere without picking some sort of side. However, she's come up with an ingenious idea - play the role of two separate groups, each one helping one of the two shrines. The intention would be for mutual destruction from both sides, with both groups having almost telepathic knowledge of the other's actions and striking at their weakest points. One group would be represented by Remilia herself, and the other by the kimono-wearing noblewoman, Yuyuko Saigyouji. Obviously, the members of these groups cannot be revealed for reasons of privacy (or at least, that's their excuse).

Each of the invited members has their own specialty:
Nitori: Master engineer, and also relatively unknown
Youmu: Greatest swordswoman in Gensokyo
Reisen: Long-range specialist, trained in a variety of firearms
Mokou: Demolitions expert
Momizi: Excellent scout
Where necessary, the denziens of the Scarlet Devil Mansion will provide the team with whatever support they need. Aya also shows up now and again to give them any useful info she comes across, because 'you guys give me something fun to write about'.

So the plot basically revolves around the SDM and Hakugyokurou screwing both shrines over, but all the while looking like the two greatest mercenary groups ever invented. Too bad I'm a pretty crappy writer and this is too complicated a piece for me to ever handle...>_>

Possibility: Mugetu and Gengetu are "dream-beings" who can only exist in dreams, and dreamworlds such as Mugenkan and the site of LLS Extra (which I'm calling "Getukan").

In fact (I just got this idea after reading LLS Extra's translated script and seeing how confused Reimu was at being there): maybe Reimu simply dreamed the Extra stage, her dream somehow transporting her directly to Mugetu and Gengetu's world. Marisa seemed to be more deliberate there, though -- maybe she found a gateway there or something ...

Now I'm trying to look up info on edible Japanese freshwater fish. My theory is that since Gensokyo is landlocked, they wouldn't have access to seafood, but Fish Is Still Important in everyone's mindset given that they've done their damnedest to remain culturally Japanese in every other respect.

On the other hand I suppose they could just eat seafood anyway, and have Yukari say "Arrangements are made" and leave it at that ...

I am the wing leader of the 8492nd fairy squadron. We are the best mercenaries around. Hired for over a thousand conflicts. Claiming over 1000 Reimus, 1000 Marisas, and 600 Sakuyas, we have fought in over 3000 conflicts.

There are a few other well-known squadrons: 580, Razgriz, Mobius.

Razgriz: Bah. The only one of them who can fight is as durable as a bombless Marisa.

580: We're on good terms. Wonder why the leader is the thirteenth. Real popular over at Youkai Mountain.

Mobius: Same as Razgriz, only much bigger.

One day, we were approached by Yukari. However, today, the job was an unusual one.

Usually, fairy squadrons are hired for a defensive job such as defending the Scarlet Devil Mansion from outside invasion while the Little Sister is loose. The two sides even have the exact same banter every time.

"Did you call me?"

"Nope, didn't"

"Here I am."

"You are...?"

"Before you ask for a person's name..."

"Oh, me?

Lessee, I'm Reimu Hakurei. Shrine maiden."

They say this every time we encounter Marisa in the mansion.

Yukari had a scout mission for us. We were to explore the world on the other side of this gap for a week and report our findings. The compensation she promised seemed reasonable, fifty thousand large power items and 500 lives, and she also promised a quick extraction at the end of the mission.

We gathered flew through the gap to ended up...right over the lake. We saw Cirno flying about and juggling her frogs.

"She dropped us in our own world? What does she want us to explore? A frozen idiot?" one of the rookies exclaimed.

"Eye'm an idiot! Eye'm the strongest!" Cirno yelled and began to engage.

It seemed that the ice fairy finally stopped thinking in only two dimensions. However, The only made the gaps that much wider.

----------

Reimu seemed to be walking a little funny after I fired some torpedoes(bubble bullets) up her ass. I wondered if she had the flu or something.

I was going to remedy that lack with another idea I had in the past, which would be a sort of sequel to Mystic Mutation. It would have basically involved the Ryūgū-jō, or Palace of the Dragon God, which belongs to Ryujin who, just like any other dragon, disappeared from Gensokyo leaving his palace to be cared for by Otohime. There are still alot of things to work out in the story itself, but one can be certain that it will be heavily based on the legend of Urashima Tarō (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urashima_Tar%C5%8D).

I don't know either, but I've gotta say I love the way you put that level of thought and research into your writing. Reminds me of a lot of chats I have with my friends that start out "Hey, do you think they have X in Gensokyo?" and end up just being silly.

I do think there've been a few mentions of fishing in Gensokyo, especially if you count Inaba as canon. The fairies in Strange and Bright Nature Deity got a nice big fish from somewhere too. There's probably a fair bit in the rivers and lakes, but... you know, knowing Gensokyo, they must have their share of fish cryptids and extinct species too. There might be something interesting you could do on that front.

Eh, I would say that Gensokyo's fish exist in the Sanzu River but that's pretty much a 'dead' river (it's stated that the fish living in it are dead), but I've had several (crackpot) theories stating that perhaps the Sanzu River dumps into a larger body of water, or there maybe an Ocean of somekind in the 'Great Beyond' (the area beyond the Youkai Mountain).

Oh, I know. Half the fun is taking what we're given in the games and the canon stories and saying: Okay, how would this actually work? Given difference X between Gensokyo and Outside (or at least, "Outside circa 1884"), how would this impact the daily lives of Reimu and Marisa and the villagers? If a change were brought in (e.g. electricity as of SA), how would that impact the daily lives of Reimu and Marisa? (I'm assuming that Kanako's motive was in lessening the impact that merely moving to Gensokyo had on the daily lives of the Moriya Shrine crew ...)

I've started poking around at an idea for a story which is ... an origin story of sorts for Sakuya, but which explores the question, given Gensokyo's nature and the plot of MoF, of what exactly life is like for the average non-human living in the Outside, and for the humans who deal with them on a regular basis. (They exist, obviously. Just ask Remilia and Kanako.) I really ought to do a bit more work on my existing stories, though.

That said, thanks for reminding me about e.g. the Inabas stuff. It still leads me back to my original question: what type of fish would they be? ;)

"When I reeled in some fish from the Misty Lake, it was already frozen. That was a real surprise, but the fish lasted a long time, and was delicious." (Angler with big appetite)

And here I thought that there was no human fishing in the Misty Lake...
The Misty Lake, incidentally, is where they went fishing in Inaba, the one with the giant monster fish. Apparently a lot of people hope to catch it.

Not-quite-edit: Oh, that's right, I'd forgotten about the Moriya Shrine's lake! Not to mention all that water you go across in MoF. (Apparently that river feeds the Misty Lake.) I doubt most humans would have an easy time fishing on the Youkai Mountain either. Still, I think it's pretty darn reasonable to assume that Gensokyo has more bodies of water around. It's a big place.

Not-quite-edit-2-I-really-need-to-post-faster: Well, I can find lists of freshwater fish in Japan, but generally more with an eye to biology than cuisine. (Like this monstrosity. (http://fish.mongabay.com/data/Japan.htm)) I don't know enough about Japanese food or seafood for my own comfort. I still kinda like the cryptid notion, but a lot of those tend to be giant monster fish themselves, unless you wanna import the furred trout or something. :)

Hmm... it's not exactly freshwater, but I wonder if sky fish is good to eat.

All of a sudden I'm thinking of Sushi-like youkai for some reason.

Quote
That said, thanks for reminding me about e.g. the Inabas stuff. It still leads me back to my original question: what type of fish would they be?
EDITO: There's the Jishin-namazu, a giant catfish that is said to cause earthquakes and tsunamis. I recall watching an episode of Inuyasha once (shut up there wasn't shit on that night) where they cooked a said catfish for a Festival or something.

Just thought I'd mention it. I don't really know why though...

I find battles to be simple; it the stuf that goes with it that's hard to write.

Battles can be orcastrated several ways.  The question is what nature of battle you(as the author) want to illistrate.

Personal- using character narroration to outline the flow
Direct- having the battle explained as if a by a newscastor(storyteller)
Objective- having the descriptions be simple and nonspecific
Indirect- omnipotent narrorator

Then again, it's all about pacing.  Do you capture the urgency of the scene?  Is it better to describe every vivid detail or skip some?  Does the character's thoughts and emotions matter in the scene?  Which needs more emphasis: movement, placement, exchange, or resultant?

Ultimately, it's a question of style.  Three people can write one scene and capture different exchanges.  One person can write a scene three times and yield different events each time.

Know what you want, find what you need
[wow, I can't spell]

It is almost certain I like to make it all a bit simple, I streamline what happens, using as little fancy words as possible.

Yeah, I'm in the middle of a retelling of SA's stage 4 boss battle, and it consists of a basic description of each danmaku pattern, accompanied more or less by "and we dodged a lot" (it's in first-person from Satori's perspective).

The hard part is making Satori come off as badass in first-person ...

Well, it's a pretty urgent battle, in this case, because Marisa's life is on the line. It's her versus Patchouli, being told by a third person narrarator who, while omnipotent, follows around Keine, who is observing it.

While it needs to have the tension of the scenario displayed, I think I was able to capture that well enough in the pre-battle dialogue.

And since I've brought Patchouli down from a stage four boss to the midboss of Stage 1 of the fanfic, she probably would be feeling too well today, but not enough so that it makes her too much of a pushover.

I do not intend to use the Master Spark in it, however, even though Marisa is the one fighting - how many times do you bomb against the stage 1 Midboss?

I also have an idea of a more dramatic use of it later, so I want to save it for that.

I would like to describe it well, but I also don't want it to fall into Purple Prose, as well, as that would seem kind of off considering the rest of the story isn't written that way.

"Which needs more emphasis: movement, placement, exchange, or resultant?"

This is the hardest question for me, and I think it could be why I haven't gotten anywhere on it in a while. I can't really tell which one should be emphasized more to show what I need.

The result is important in that I need it to wear Marisa down, but not be too much of a struggle.

The exchange is imortant in that Marisa nad Patchouli have a strong bond, and each for their own reason, have to defeat the other in order to keep the life they know from changing.

Movement and placement, are not as important, but need to be told in order to give the visualization that makes stories good to read. I'll probably put less detail into them as into the other two, though.

If you're going to use my system of organizing battles, then I clarify some specifics.

Capturing the tension and maintaining the tension are two different schemes.  Since you'll be using a 3rd person dynamic, I would suggest keeping the empasis on the results of each attack.  Emotional conflict from not wanting to harm her friend but still needing to win can illustrate the point.

As an additional notation, "movement" is the simplest way to demonstrate "struggle".  It isn't that there is movement, it's in the nature of the movements.  The trick is to make passing mention of hesitation and points of reconsideration (doubts).

Just to round out the system: placement is followed exchange (either talking or attacking), that leads to movement (manuveurs or contemplations), then the resultant is shown (damage, fatigue, doubt, or whatever).  Skip steps as needed and the flow still moves along.

Hopefully, that'll offer more assistance without needing to delve into specifics.

. . . Why do I get the feeling that this is you're-going-to-hell-for-that-worthy? Not that the idea doesn't sound rip-roaring hilarious (I'm sure that if it DID get written, it's be either a barrel of laughs or up there with Trilby's Notes), but still . . .

. . . And oh god. Chalk up another Crossover That Should Not Be Made . . . Chzo Mythos x Touhou Project. I don't even want to THINK about how that would work out (though I seem to get an unhealthy image of Youmu with a welding mask, apron, and machete . . . or stretched out way too tall; I'm also just now realizing that Mima and the Tall Man share a weapon...). PASS THE BRAIN BLEACH. The only good thing that could come out of that would be Marisa in a Trilby outfit.

I'm toying with this idea -- I posted a bit about it in the old thread, it's this cyberpunk-style story set 1000 years later, in which the Hakurei border is seemingly gone and youkai walk openly in the "Outside" World (there's nothing for it to be outside anymore). It would open with Mokou, arrested for the murder of Kaguya Houraisan; in the ensuing conversation with her jailers, it becomes clear that she is innocent, but her captors have a marked disinterest in her actual guilt or innocence, let alone the fact that Kaguya got up and walked away right after it happened.

We soon learn that Yuka Kazami basically rules the world from this Shinra-style corporation with a semi-iron fist, not outright beating people up in public with masked troopers, but sometimes, people ... disappear. This and other negatives aren't widely broadcasted, and she isn't feared exactly, but her YK emblem kind of makes people uneasy. It isn't all bad, though. Kazami Co. has completely and permanently blocked off passage to Makai, Jigoku, and other "dangerous" realms (more a PR move than an actual danger), and crime is ... well, it looks like it's down.

The biggest thorn in her side, now that she has captured Yukari Yakumo, is this thousand-year-old youkai-magician named Marisa Kirisame, who's been waging a private little war on Yuka's empire, along with her Kappa Corps (which contains several other youkai and humans -- unlike Kazami Co., it's an equal-opportunity employer). Yuka has been trying to brand Marisa's group as a terrorist, but only half the news stories about her tries to sell it, and only a quarter of the populace buys it. Yuka's defense is usually thorough enough that Kazami Co. and the Kappa Corps don't actually fight very often, but Yuka and Marisa have more intellectual struggles.

Marisa's ultimate goal, her biggest target, is a giant reactor Yuka built. The temperature at its core is usually around 7000 kelvins and never drops below 6561, but remarkably, the central chamber seems to require no coolant beyond low-level regulators. Why? Because of Kazami Co.'s best kept secret -- the youkai hidden inside the reactor's core. It is this youkai whom Marisa intends to free, and this will form the crux of the adventure. Along the way, we'll have a few visits to the moon, a large-scale assault with Makai's doll-army joining the Kappa Corps, a Thirty Xanatos Pileup or two ... The works.

Just write that already Muffin!

I'D FUND IT

Mine idea:

In the star faring days of the future, when what seemed like the world has finally abandoned all notions of faith and look to science as the new world order, a secret little group of believers gather underground.

Unveiling before them, is Yukari's body.

Yukari in the hands of six humans was divided through separation, using modern medical technique she was disassembled into 6 sacred parts.

Elsewhere in a runic temple, a scientific temple to be exact, with some of the modern miracles all set up for display in the grandest manner, are another group of people, consisting of a human-pretender, a Kappa by the name of Nitori. The oldest of them all and still maintaining the youthful outlook of a girl with blue hair in a completely white ironed suit looks to the other 2 attendees of the meeting.

They are descendants of Maribel Han and Alice Margatroid, both bearing the same name, except for that, they both look very different from their ancestors.

"You are the last hope, restore the balance of nature, bring back the Chalice, bring back Yukari, and we can exist whole again." Nitori says.

Promptly, the two left the room.

In a pressing stage of time, they must reach the Chalice, Yukari herself before the parts are stowed away forever from the prying hands of the youkai.

'Free the Chalice, bring Havoc, bring Gensokyo back to life.'

Will they succeed?

"Reimu Hakurei, shrine maiden. A woman barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild her. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic shrine maiden. Reimu Hakurei will be that woman. Better than she was before. Better, stronger, faster."

THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR SHRINE MAIDEN

---

I've also been working on the concept of a Touhou story set predominantly outside of Gensokyo, involving a hit man occasionally hired by Yukari to do her dirty work. The basic premise is that Yukari is a powerful crime lord in our world, with a firm grip on the trade of illicit drugs and illegal firearms. When she needs to rub out the competition, she calls upon the services of her personal assassin. The story would follow his exploits.

I also think it would be cool if instead of one plotline throughout, each chapter would be one story, unconnected to the chapters before or after it, save for a few recurring themes and characters, sort of like the way a TV show is written.

But I still haven't figured out a title. :(

So, after playing too much Super Robot Taisen, I got the urge to make a Touhou mecha story in graphic novel form.  As a starting point, I've decided it would be loosely based on the plot of SA, and will add the cast of the other games if it comes to that.  For those of you who frequent the image boards/ Danbooru, I was inspired by the work of yoshi tama, nekoguruma, and others.

Let it be known that I have almost no experience drawing mecha, so I may suck at this for a while... and maybe longer than that.  I'm trying to break my bad habit of getting too precious about things, and improve along the way rather than redrawing stuff tons of times.

I'm still in the ideas phase, trying to map out character relationships.  So far I'm thinking of putting the protagonists in two main crews: the ones originating in SA, and the usual heroine squad.  And again the Moriya group is the donor of power (ass-kicking mechs) with ulterior motives.

Questions, suggestions?

***

The message played out over the television screen, a message not meant for the technologically deficit Gensokyo. Static obscured the view, but the voice came over clearly, strongly.
?We have lost a hero to our glorious cause, but does this foreshadow our defeat? No. It is a new beginning. Compared to Gensokyo our national resources are less than one thirtieth of theirs. Despite this how is it that we have been able to fight the fight for so long? It is because our goal in this war is a righteous one.?
Yukari looked over her shoulder at Reimu, beckoning her forwards.
?You could learn something from this, Reimu. It?s nothing more than propaganda against Gensokyo.?
The screen cleared up a bit, showing the pink haired lady. ?It?s been over fifty years since the elite of the aboveground, consumed by greed, took control of the Gensokyo. We want our freedom. Never forget the times when those aboveground have trampled us! We, the Former site of H?lle, have had a hard struggle to achieve freedom for all citizens of our great nation. My beloved sister, Koishi Komeji, was sacrificed. Why??
?Because she was a spoiled brat.? Sanae took a sip from her cup, savouring the taste of the sake. She turned away from the screen, from the gesturing leader.
?The war is at a stalemate. Perhaps many of you have become complacent. Such a lack of compassion is ---.?
?Bartender?? A newcomer flicked a coin across the bar, pulled up a seat.
?That one?s on me. If you don?t mind.? Satori?s voice blared out in the background
?Tengu??
?That obvious, eh??
Sanae nodded. ?It?s the smell. You?re one of Aya?s.?

The tengu laughed. ?I?m impressed, Ms Shrine Maiden.?
?The youkai of Gensokyo have polluted our land for their own greed. We must send them a message, but not composed of words. We have wasted too much time with words. We need action now. Those arrogant youkai must be taught a strong lesson for their corruption. This is only the beginning of our war. We have been putting more and more power into our efforts towards making our military stronger . They have done the same.?
The camera zoomed in on Satori?s face, showing a fierce look, one of determination, one of anger and patriotism and bleakness.
?Many of your mothers and sisters have perished valiantly in the face of a contemptible enemy. We must never forget what the uplanders have done to our people!? The smiling face of Koishi showed behind her, a frozen image of joy before an outspoken demagogue.
?By focusing our anger and sorrow, we are finally in a position where victory is within our grasp, and once again, our most cherished nation will flourish.?
Reimu held out a hand behind her, silently comforting Marisa.
Victory is the greatest tribute we can pay those who sacrifice their lives for us! Rise, Rise! Take your sorrow, and turn it into anger! H?lle thirsts for the strength of its people!?
?Sieg H?lle!? The cry echoed over the streets of hell.
?Sieg H?lle!? It reverberated out into the vast caverns, carried by the voice of hundreds.
?Sieg H?lle!?

Yukari?s voice was quiet. ?They intend to make it a dictatorship.?

Something I was thinking of from too much Ace Combat 5. *is trying to get four FALKENS*

A screen filled with snow.  Four figures sit in front of the screen.  One stares intensely at the snow, another watches the clock.  The remaining two are just lounging around.

*zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz......*

At exactly 1515, the screen revealed the silhouette of a person.  Interposed in front of the person is a map of Gensokyo.  While the map is mostly blue, there is a troubling hint of red at the borders near an important base.

"At precisely 1500 hours today, the Hakurei Air Force Base, the first line of defense for Gensokyo, was destroyed.  We have received reports that there are at least two pilots have managed to escape the destruction, and have begun their retreat toward the Scarlet Air Force Base.  Their callsigns are 'Tengoku' and 'Jigoku'.

"Your mission is to fly top cover for these two planes on their way back to Scarlet.  We expect heavy resistance from enemy squadrons in the area, as well as whatever superweapon was used to decimate Hakurei AFB.

"At the moment, they are the only ones who know the capabilities of the enemy.  Listen to them, and make sure they come back alive.

"Be careful.  We still have no knowledge of what is going on, but if it's anything like we're expecting...  Well, we may be in trouble then.

"Your departure time is 1545 hours, and you should be entering the engagement zone at 1700.  Launch."

I don't know if anyone else might have thought of this but has anyone ever considered the thought that Sakuya might be a being of the fourth dimension?
Think about it. Ourselves as beings living in the third dimension, we only understand and have control of things in the first, second, and third dimensions, the fourth being mysterious and uncontrollable to us.
However, Sakuya, a being of the fourth dimension, fully understands and controls time as far as slowing and stopping time go.
Traveling forward or back in time is a completely different dimension though (the sixth to be exact) so that may be why she can't (or can barely) go forward or back in time, because as a fourth dimensional creature, she understands little of that dimension.

What do you guys think?

Isn't the whole reason why Sakuya can stop time is because of that Stopwatch thing that Eirin "Allegedly" made along with the thought of Sakuya being a Lunarian "Allegedly".

Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.

She couldn't have because Sakuya has had that pocket watch since her appearance in EoSD. Also since when did Eirin make pocket watches? Maybe I don't know thae latest in Touhou fandom but I don't remember Eirin making any pocket watches.

It all goes back to the reaction Eirin shows when seeing Sakuya in IN, that suggests (To some) a relationship between them. Some people interpret this as both of them being lunarians, some as Eirin giving Sakuya  them powers.

And by Eirin not being around, remember, the original expedition to send Kaguya back to the moon could have happened hundreds of years ago.

I've heard of that theory, but I always stuck with the theory that she uses the pocket watch to keep track for how long she has stopped time for since it doesn't stop with the time.

My version of her is simply she is a dependant of the clock.
The pocketwatch activates her ability like wearing a pair of glasses to increase her vision focus, without it she can stop time of maybe one person or for a short breath of time.

Relatively, another of mine thinking was that since time is relative to space, she didn't stop time but simply shortened the space between perhaps two people simultaneously (ie. appearing before you and placing blades at you in zero distance), but without the clock, she cannot do so perfectly. The clock is a tool that utilizes her ability to the fullest, allowing her to cast long timed spells for the attacks she does.

I think Usually Dead's version is actually akin to holding her breath.

The issue with that is she uses spell cards to stop time AND summon several knives around you at the same time. I'm not sure how powerful Sakuya really is but I don't think that she can do two completely different things with just 1 spell card. Something must be helping her do that...again, this brings us back to her watch.

Indeed, if she did have dormant TIME LORD powers she would pretty much skyrocket up the Power Rankings if she ever mastered it.

10 days since last post, oh well....

The story I'm thinking on writing has no name right now, but I really want to write it, so here it is.

Recently, The Great Boundary has seemed to be weak. Reimu, troubled by this, calls up Yukari, thinking she must know something. Unfortunately, Yukari cannot find the reason, saying that it's something she's never seen before.

As for that, in the other world, a few select guys get thrown into Gensokyo. As one would expect, these guys cause quite a bit of trouble, as one would expect a bunch of horny straight guys to act if they were placed in a girl-filled country...

Mostly comedy, but the second half is much more serious.

AS for them, Here are the first few that show up:

Blazer: A fire fairy that can hide his wings to blend in the human world. He is a ridiculous guitar addict, and can play any song after hearing it once, basically making him the greatest guitar player of all time. HE embodies the trope "Power of Rock". However, he generally is harsh and views most women as mere objects and groupies...till he meets Cirno...

Gio Bacharinni: An Italian drug addict that lives in the slums of America. He can take huge amounts of drugs without dying, and is basically always high. After falling into Gensokyo, he runs till he reaches the SDM, and faints. He wakes up with bite marks in his neck, and a creppy Remelia over, smiling evily. He freaks out, and pleads for his life (not knowing that Remi won't kill him) till he accidently pleads to be a butler, in exxhange that Remi doesn't kill him. Sakuya disagrees with the idea, but Remi, for some reason, let's him be one. His power is the ability to cancel out other characters powers when their near him, though this does drain him physically.

All he ever does around the SDM is bug Sakuya mostly.

Syk: A youkai of a famous emperor's scepter. He claims to be a god, but this is disproved when Keine beats him in a fight. Speaking of Keine, he literally falls on her arm, breaking it. From there on, he feel's that it's his duty to protect her, despite her claims to the contrary. He actually came to Gensokyo just to blow it up, but stopped, because, in his words, "There's too many hot chicks".

He can by choice or force, place a "lock" on someone that nullifies all of their powers and forces them to be with him.

Tech: One of Syk's subordinates, his full name is Techaro Bellaichi. His power is the ability to control electricity. He's not excactly on good terms with his master, but he tries to do his job.

He is oddly intent on doing "nasty things" to Moukou.

Kryo: The second of Syk's subordinates, his full name's Kyro Fie. He's kinda of an idiot, but he still loves his job. He has telekinetic powers, and can crush a tank with his mind.

After a falling out with his master, Syk teleports him away to the SDM's basement. It seems like Flandre has a new toy....

Parch Toryou: A cop that is hell-bent on catching Gio and arresting him for pushing so many drugs through the streets. He's literally the only cop on the force that believes Gio is doing all this dealing. In his world, the only that matters is getting the job done. He's so hell bent on capturing Gio, he continues to chase him in Gensokyo.

He loves Donuts.

Elrich Sich: A vampire that became a cop so he only fed off of criminals, since he has a sense of morality. He's Parch's buddy for life, and follows him while in Gensokyo, until they hear of Remi. Elrich, having never met any other vampires, in instantly love-struck and quickly tries to locate her.... Hilarity ensues.

Tagento Pinnifiara: A genius that after landing himself in Gensokyo, finds out that everything he's ever believed in just got thrown upside down. He's the only character in the cast that doesn't have any powers: Rather, he flies an extremely advanced fighter jet he built himself, called the "Tethys".

Recently, he's been seen in the SDM's libary, reading up on the very intricacies of magic.

That all the characters I can name now....

Hmm. It sounds like it has some sort of potential, not all of it necessarily good. I'd be wary about doing something so OC-heavy, myself, especially with that many at once. Fans won't be able to Instantly Identify With Them the way they can with established characters, and all of them are male, which is going to leave more Touhou fans alienated who wouldn't otherwise mind OCs. It's also somewhat bad that you seem to be doing a one-sided shipping with about half of them (Blazer likes Cirno, Tech wants to do "nasty things" to Mokou, etc). Worse, a lot of them don't seem to fit Gensokyo, conceptually. I mean ... a drug addict? A snake-scepter tsukumogami who outright says Gensokyo has "hot chicks" in as many words? (In short: would you seriously not be better off putting these characters in your own, original setting? Once they were sufficiently established in such, you'd at least have the (still somewhat bad in context) excuse of a crossover ...)

The whole point is how completely they don't fit with Gensokyo, so what you're saying is bad is precisely the reason I'm writing it.

After all, what's wrong with throwing a hard-rocking fairy, a drug addict, a crazy cop, a crazy vampire cop, a genius, a snake-scepter tsukumogami and his two subordinates into Gensokyo? The entire Touhou series doesn't make sense anyway.

While Muffin does raise good points in his post, I actually want to see this reach fruition if only to see where it goes and what it brings.

Hmm, on my end of things I have a few ideas (although most of those are nothing but NSFW material so I won't post it), although one is centered around my Kurumi Bad End fic that I wrote a loooong time ago on Poosh. After getting a suggestion from someone who read it, I've been trying to see if I can expand on the idea and write a short continuation of the original that gives it a bit more closure than it had originally

Originally, It ended with Kurumi biting the Anon during sex (and thus turning him into a vampire), after which he kills and devours Keine before running off in guilt and fear of what Mokou will do to him.

Well...after watching episode 27 of Kamen Rider Decade...a friend and I got into a discussion about a TouhouXKamenRider crossover and this is what we got so far:

?I was actually thinking of a RiderXTouhou crossover set in GRIMSOKYO where no one can fly aside from Yukari...>_>?

?and even then, Yukari doesn't technically fly but instead gaps around to where she wants to be.?

?yep...or maybe I can just turn Marisa and RAYMOO into DiEnd and Decade...>_>?

?Reimu can turn into: Remilia, Yuyuko, Kaguya, Eirin, Suika, Sikieiki, Kanako, Tenshi, Utsuho via Touhou Ride?

?oh cool! That adds up to 9 forms! Just like Decade!?

?Marisa can be DiEnd, stealing Precious things and summoning stage 1-5 bosses?

?nice?

?But who will they fight against??

?Shinki and Makai as a Proxy for Dai Shocker??

?with Yuka as a proxy for Apollo Geist??

?hehe. probably!?

?Mima as Shadowmoon! I'm calling it right now!?

?hmm... alternatively, they can fight against the Seihou cast, but Seihou has very few characters?

?or Seihou can just join Dai Makai as well?

?I guess?

?I just had a thought... Reimu Complete Form will probably be able to turn into EX-Bosses.?

?So that's Remilia/Flandre, Yuyuko/Yukari, Kaguya/Mokou, Kanako/Suwako, Utsuho/Koishi, Suika/EX-Rumia, Tenshi/Advent Cirno, Sikieiki/Advent Letty , Eirin/Advent Reisen? I stuck some Advents there because I ran out of EX-Bosses.?

?hahaha?

?I still want to keep the Voice from Decade's belt and DiEnd's gun though?so awesome.?

?yeah, those are some neat sound effects, that voice.?

*Scene where Marisa faces Alice in PCB stage 3*

Alice: Give me back my precious thing right now!

Marisa: Sorry...no can do~ze! *Mini-Hakkero turns into DiEnd's gun

Alice: What the?

Marisa: Let's dance~ze!

TOUHOU RIDE! DAZE!

Alice: What the hell?!

DaZe Marisa: Let me introduce you to a new friend of mine!

TOUHOU RIDE! PATCHOULI!

*DaZe Marisa summons Patchy*

DaZe Marisa: Get em Patchy~ze!

ATTACK RIDE! NON-DIRECTIONAL LASER!

*Patchy uses non-directional laser*

We have way too much free time...>_>

I've read a doujin or two of where the scenario takes place during the years after the human characters have passed. The story of interest I read in particular took place at the SDM and I began thinking to myself "How did Sakuya die?" out of curiosity. So I thought up of a scenario of how a fifty years older Sakuya meets her end at the SDM. This is my first idea for an actual story.

Something like this:
Remilia tells Sakuya to go get her some tea. Of course, Sakuya goes and gets Remi her tea. However, halfway back to where ever Remi is, Sakuya becomes a bit dizzy, loses consciousness, and falls right in the middle of the hallway. Hours later, Sakuya wakes up in her bed surrounded by the other characters who reside at the SDM... I'll stop there.

Please tell me that this isn't something someone already thought up of.

Sudden mental image: Someone comes across Yukari, dozing lightly or something, and also is naked, when suddenly a gap opens next to the intruder and all these arms and tentacles pull them in. After a few moments, they are deposited on the bed next to her, looking Ruined For Marriage, and Yukari lights up a cigarette.

Another Idea that I'll never right Hooray~

Anyway, thinking of a Soul Nomad crossover, maybe Revya (protaganist of the game, might stick with the female variant since that appears to be the canon role) and the gang travel to Gensokyo (still need to figure out how, might stick with Yukari option) under tales of another World Eater roaming around. However the group gets seperated upon their arrival, leaving only Revya and Gig to find the World Eater and kill it.

In the meantime;
-Danette becomes a ⑨
-Levin fights Meiling after the two argue on who's the better gaurd
-Tricia takes up a job as gaurdian to the Human Village alongside Keine
-Grunzford is taking it easy with Genji
-Odie is mistaken as a Dragon (The idea of him being a Dragon is hilariously unlikely, because in Soul Nomad's story, he sucks at pretty much everything he tries that includes magic)
-Vitali's nowhere to be found...again.

And I have no idea as to what to do with Juno...so bleh

===========

Another, more H-doujin, idea

Sanae has taken a liking to youkai hunting, and has now decided to go out on regular 'hunts' now and then to, as Kanako points out, better herself as a shrine maiden and satisfy a hidden desire to fight stronger and stronger youkai. As time goes on Sanae becomes infamous on the Youkai Mountain as a huntress to stay away from if you happen to be youkai and it seems that no youkai, great or small would stand against her.

However, one faithful day as she's out on her routine youkai hunts, she comes across a Kesaran-pasaran. Thinking of it as a mere low level youkai, Sanae challenges the Kesaran-pasaran and the two do battle. However, as they fight Sanae begins to realize that the Kesaran-pasaran is alot stronger than she thought, far stronger than most normal youkai she's faced, in fact. However, the maiden presses on determined to beat this youkai. Sadly, Sanae is given a rude wake up call to just how wrong it is to bite off more than one can chew (or swallow). The maiden not only loses the battle, but also has her virginity stolen from her as the Kesaran-pasaran goes about brutally raping the unfortunate Sanae as a means of punishment for disturbing it's peaceful slumber.

Defeated, defiled and deflowered, Sanae wearily makes her way back to the Moriya shrine a broken and ruined maiden.

However, just when Sanae thought things couldn't possibly get any worse
she finds out that she's pregnant
.

Also Kesaran-pasaran =
a mysterious white fluffy creature

Great, another idea, this one's way more serious. Here's the Basic Idea:

In the universe, there exists a nega version of everything. A nega version is like the original, but it's characteristics are flipped upside-down to create a "Negative" of the original. This story takes place in Nega-Gensokyo, but for simplicity's sake, I shall call it by the name of "N-Gensokyo". N-Gensokyo is quite similar to modern-day times when it comes to technology (They have cars, guns, computers, internet, radio, etc.)

Gensokyo is a happy place--N-Gensokyo is not.

The economy is horrible, the cops are as corrupt as the criminals, and the crime rate is at highs no one could ever imagine. The mortality rate is 70%, women are raped in the streets, and sold as sex slaves to violent psychopaths who kill them a day later. CHildren who can't do as well as the others in school are publicy shot in front of their classmates. Children who are born with diseases are diseccted alive for brutal experiments, and then sold as sex slaves to pedophiles. The government kidnaps humans and youkai alike to be sent away to horrific torture camps for politicians sick entertainment, and are brutally murdered and used as fuel.

Free press is cracked upon; artists, poets, and writers are regularly rounded up and shot publicly. Those who dare speak badly of the government are shot as well. Families who have more than 3 children have their kids forcibly taken from them and quickly sent to be killed.

Speaking of politicians, the insane president running the shithole is Cezar Crazian, a Satori. Basically the youkai version of Hitler, he believes Tengu to be the "scum of the earth", and wishes to see them all killed, so he sends them to concentraton camps, where they work till they die, or are forcibly gassed to death.

Adding to the problems, N-Gensokyo has been embroiled in a horrific war for over 5,000 years. Men and women alike send themselves off to fight for politicians they despise and don't know, while those bastards sit and laugh at how many people die for worthless causes.

In this shithole, there's one, un-important youkai: Roger "Cizzet" Freedman. His family has managed to escape the hell of city life by living simple lives as farmers. However, one day, Cizzet is drafted to take part in the war effort.

He's not the kind of person that you would expect to be a hero. He scared easily, can't fire a gun very well, and is squeamish at the sight of blood. He can barely bench press 120 pounds, and trembles constantly.

Oh, and the war took the lives of his brother and sister.

But he has justice.

And justice is rare in N-Gensokyo.

SO when he's forced to sign up with a rag-tag squadron of of quite a few unique faces, he finds it hard to belive he could do anything of importance.

But, trust me....he just might be the key to ending this war.....

Another Idea

After a long day of freezing frogs, Cirno comes to find a strange Axolotl. Thinking that the creature is something amazing, she takes it by the tail and rushes back to sho her friends that she may have found a baby dragon. Upon showing them the Axolotl and telling them her theory; Rumia believes it to be true, while Mystia and Wriggle aren't so easily swayed. Frustrated by Wriggle and Mystia, Cirno 'wishes that they would believe her' and like magic (lol) her wish comes true. Rumia reports seeing the Axolotl do something strange with it's gills and it is now obvious (or not) that this amphibian has the power to grant any wish one may desire.

One can only imagine the amount of chaos that will ensue once word of this gets out...

I like it, but make it better by foregoing all the males, make them the usual characters we see, with very different attitudes.

heck if you know Kanji you can basically screw with the name and get the same romanji pronounciation.

I just want to see if I'm the only one.

Then it would be some RPG already, that kills it.

Also...

I had a sudden spark!
http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php?topic=1813.msg68110#msg68110

I said here, Yukari ain't 17 no more.

----

The story begins when a clueless girl (not me), started typing on a forum for Touhou games, and inside an unrelated incident, she typed after witnessing a picture of Yukari celebrating her... 1000th birthday...

This however, by some strange totally unrelated incident came to be known by Yukari, as she was... atm browsing the internet and just so happens come across her old account at this dilapidated forum she once used to lurk on and on the IRC. Upon seeing the message... she was infuriated and zapped that girl to Gensokyo.

Shit turns out scarier and scarier as our girl navigates into the deep paths filled with monsters and youkai, only to be rescued by Ran, who just happens to pass by.

The sinister grin on Ran's face tell her she is dangerous, but she followed him back to Yukari's place, and saw that Yukari was apparently BANNED from the forums. Things aren't going so well it seems today for Yukari, and it is her actual birthday too!

She turns back and sees the girl she zapped to Gensokyo, how will the girl get out of this sticky situation?

...................

What The Hell?!

I'm an interesting person.

Anyway, here's something that's inspired by UFO's depiction of Byakuren, whom I took to be a youkai who wants other youkai to co-exist peacefully with humans only to be sealed away by those she tried to protect*. This got me thinking, what if the youkai as a whole wanted to exist peacefully with humanity, but there were a few rogue elements that were stirring up the mix, prompting humanity to fight against the youkai?

In my idea, humans are being attacked by youkai in ever increasing numbers. Eventually it gets to the point where Reimu and Marisa decide to do something about it.

Sounds pretty normal, but here's the rub: through the story it will be implied that the youkai are more than capable of policing themselves and are punishing those who are attacking humans in their own way. In fact, youkai society is starting to realize that attacking the humans always ends badly, and there are even those who want to try to exist peacefully with the humans.

Then our two people show up and everything gets shot to hell, literally and figuratively. Essentially, the pair are muddling in something that would've taken care of itself anyway, and are in fact doing more harm to humanity than they realize.

So now the youkai are screaming for blood, saying that this proves the humans will never exist peaceably with the youkai and that if they want war, the youkai are more than willing to oblige them. The youkai are in open conflict with the humans, atrocities are being committed by both sides, and the shit has hit the fan.

But there's another twist. It turns out that the whole thing is basically the continuation of a centuries-old power play between two very powerful youkai. The attacks on humanity were engineered in such a way that Reimu and Marisa were forced to respond, thus driving the youkai into war, thus ruining the other party's plans of peace.

The very survival of humanity, and indeed Gensokyo itself, rests on exposing this conspiracy and convincing the youkai and humanity to band together against their common foe.

*Please note that I've never actually played UFO, I just read the article on the Touhou wiki

Ok, here I go,

There is this nuclear aircraft carrier, USS Robert M. La Follete (CVN 81, totally made up but accurate name and classification #), out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean doing routine patrols of the American controlled waters. All is well and the crew is taking care of usual work and maintenance of the on-board aircraft.

AWACS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airborne_Early_Warning_and_Control) suddenly reports a strange unknown flying object flying nearby. The admiral orders a team of three pilots  to go check out what this object is. The pilots get into their aircraft (the F-35C) and go off on sortie in a matter of minutes. They fly towards where AWACS reported the strange activity but they have a difficult time finding the target.

They then notice a small dot some distance away when suddenly the target flies right past them. The pilots are confused because the target was very unusually small. They turn to follow the target and fire the afterburners to catch up. As they close in onto the target the begin to slow down when they notice that it's not moving as fast as they thought, about 160mph., they finally get a close look at the target.

Extremely confused, they see that their target seems... human? Unknown whether the it is hostile or not, the strange red and white clad target moves in close to to one of the three aircraft. The pilot doesn't make a move as the... human inspects his craft, looking at the human, he notes that it doesn't look hostile, it actually seems curious, like it's never seen a fighter jet before.

The three craft and human are about to fly back over the carrier and the pilot gets and idea. He catches the attention of the human and points to the carrier, it appears that the human understands that the pilot wants to land, which is exactly what the pilot wanted the human to do. They all land and the human (now confirmed to be a living female being) is quickly brought to an interrogation room to be asked who or what she is.

They notice she is speaking what sounds to be Japanese, so an interpreter is called to the room. The interpreter notes that she is indeed speaking Japanese, an ancient form of it but he still is able to interpret.

She answers some of the standard questions:
?Her name is Hakurei Reimu
?She is from Gensokyo ("What the hell?")
?She is ?? years old.
However, when she is asked why she is here, she explains that she somehow accidentally punched through the Hakurei Border out into the "Outside World" and found herself flying over what seems to be an endless ocean. She has been flying for several days in search of land but never found any. She thanks the crew for finding her in their strange flying machines and that she is very tired and deeply fatigued from the days of nonstop flying.

The crew had no idea what she was talking about but they offer to help her in any way they can. They feed her, they give her a place to rest, and they take care of any other adverse conditions in the sick bay.

How Reimu gets beck to Gensokyo, I am still thinking of ideas for that.

That reminds me, I once had this idea for a story about a military expedition to Gensokyo. They arrive in the Bamboo Forest ... and end up trading hostilities with Mokou.

"If it bleeds, we can kill it!"
"Yes, but will it stay dead?" (after they find that her powers are phoenix-reladed)

Also, Yukari fools around with them a little bit, using a talking doll Alice made which can respond to specific questions.

(after they've learned enough to unsettle them) "Where is Yukari Yakumo?"
"Right behind you."

Speaking of dead, after comparing Orin to Aramis I came up with this odd fic that she put together a Zombie out of boredom using different parts from various other corpses (A Frakencorpse?), the corpse is later given life and starts to follow Orin around. A pet of a pet if you will.

Why yes, I might only write this to crack the 'Horse Wiener' joke, what of it?

I had this small idea for a truly new original story that isn't another Origins style.

Special conditions: This works on Gensokyo is a place that has its own environment, time and even seasons, time passing is an illusion here, progress is an illusion in itself because the seasons change.

Plot:
In a somewhat unmentioned passing of a future, what may seem like 20 years later passed, but in Gensokyo, the equivalent of around 1 year barely passed since the UFO incident.

Humanity has been consumed by a great disease, genetically engineered to consume the sanity of all man and the ability to think, no human has been spared. Its true identity is unknown, nor is it known who was the culprit, but on a survivor which dropped to Gensokyo after what appears to be one year when Gensokyo's population needed to be checked by 'Yukari's Spiriting Away Team'... Yukari realized something grim....

There are no humans she can grab within Japan's distance.

The Spiriting Away Team, like the namesake, is Gensokyo's team of Yukari's extended network of servants living in her gap universe which takes away humans from around Japan during specific times of the year to replenish the population. When the servants reported "there are no people in Japan" Yukari worries, and reports to Reimu.

At first like all known occasions Reimu didn't care... until Yukari mentioned... "Imagine, someday you are gonna have to learn how to speak English..." Her spine shivered... "No way", "Yes, you will..."

What say we go solve this situation?

With Yukari's help, they traveled out, the world however, has already left the reigns to the wind, dark skies and tumbling storms, crushed buildings and empty streets...

What happened to humanity is an enigma, and although Reimu and Yukari is immune to the disease, tagging along Marisa and Nitori and just in case Gensokyo correspondent doctor/medicinal advisor Eirin would have to rely on the timebomb method. Only a small vial of antivenom has been extracted from the survivor which they caught earlier, that small vial can save one of the people tagging along. It wasn't sure if Kappa are immune, or that Lunarians actually should need to fear, but Marisa is 100% human and capable of the disease.

In a ruined Japan, they march, looking for survivors.

Suddenly like a jolt, a foreign presence emerges...

She has a tall black hat, with two eyes attached to each side a small frame of a body, yellow frogs attached to a black and red blouse and a dark orange sleeved inner dress. She rode a giant frog towering and dwarfing all of them ahead...

"Greetings... my name is Kowasu Yarimo, I am the Anti-God of the lands of Japan..."

(http://a.imagehost.org/0422/tha-anti-suwako.jpg) (http://a.imagehost.org/view/0422/tha-anti-suwako)

What has happened... will be unfolded.

It's been gone for awhile now, to be honest I forgot all about it really. Oh well, if it's back to the top someone will notice I guess.

Anyway, new idea...

This one takes place in Gensokyo, but the setting we all know of is a bit tweaked and played around with. This story involves Cu-Sith!Sakuya who's been appearing in villages around Gensokyo, with her army of hellhounds, to which the beasts ravage homes and kidnap humans to be taken away to an unknown location. In the beginning, the attacks were all but sporadic and werent of much concearn. However when the visage of a "Scarlet Moon" began appearing during the night, "Sakusith's" attacks have increased dramatically and some humans have moved into the Central Village (the one where Keine resides) and speak of tales involving a she-beast that comes in the night and steals people away never to be seen again.

Village leader; Keine takes great worry in this rumor and calls forth many demon hunters to help put an end to these attacks. Of these hunters is the shrine maiden, Reimu Hakurei who was the first to be called upon by Keine. When Sakusith and her pack of beasts attack the village they are surprised by the resistance th humans put on to keep them out. Unfortunately, this does not stop them from killing the humans who oppose them...

However, when the sun rises once more, Sakusith takes note of the morning light and immedieatly gives the call for her group to withdraw. The hounds, hearing their mistress' howl, stop what they're doing and retreat into the darkned woods behind her, leaving behind the mess they made of the village. Curious about this action Reimu, along with a few other hunters, give chase after the fleeing pack of hellish dogs unaware that what they'll find is something far beyond they would ever expect...

Little thing that came to me.

Reimu sat in her sleigh. It was Christmas Eve and time for her rounds. She gripped the reins tightly and shouted, "On Aya, on Cirno, on Rumia, on Ran, on Marisa, on Koishi, on Tenshi, on Iku!"

The assembled pulled and the sleigh was off.

And I've been considering some sort of resolution for The Many Lives and Deaths of Mumei. It involves finding out why Mumei gets to remember past lives.

Dance Danmaku Insanity. A million bullets, and you must -dance-. THROUGH ALL OF THEM.

A silly idea I came up with related to music, namely, Touhou music is so energetic I just want to dodge bullets to it (Now if only that was plausible). The basic premise is to replace typical 'danmaku' storms with a bunch of bullets set to music, which have to be dodged to the music. The result being a bunch of bullets being danced straight through, if done correctly.

Probably an Idea best put into some ludicrous Rhythm game or something, But hell if I can program.

Funny you should say that ...
Alright, so, cave story is out of my head.

BACK IN THAT FREAKIN BAMBOO FOREST, i run, i come out into that nice scenic palce. But now that flower field that as out in the distance is on fire - and i'm holding a medium sized orange gun.....with smoke coming out of the buisiness end, and it feels like it's recently been fired. Suddenly, yuuka flies out of the ground in a burst of blazing planty glory and HGUE sunflwoers soon follow, twist, and envelope her, and twist into soem sort of monster only recognizable as plantliek by thorns, leaves, and green. It's eyes, all 1000000+ of them, are glowing yellow. Apparently, it's yuuka. Yukari gaps in front of it and gives a short speech on how she was tired of keeping gensyoko pretty, and thought she'd put it back the way it was before all those outsiders came here (wait ,all those? who else?). The entire touhou cast is gapped around me, and they start turning into monsters. Rumia is this....beast thing, alice's flesh drops off leaving only faintly glowing bones and tattered clothes, all the fairies grow smaller, shiki becomes some sort of angel, komachi fades and becomes this black mist, and so on, except for the vampires, the yjust get older, leaner, and meaner, sakuya becomes this gruesome looking MAN(!), long story short the second most horrific was utsuho - She is the five eyed, four winged, five legged, half dead, half fire, hellish bird thing, with two beaks. Dear god. Finally, yukari just grins and her entire form becomes a gap. There are some mouths in it, and then that vanishes, and the entire sky is THAT, a gap with the eyes AND mouths. Then i wake up scared out of my wits. I doubt that little flamethrower would have helped.

....Dear god, the PNP theory says nothing about their appearances, in truth, yukari is just keeping everyone a loli so gensyoko isn't a mock up of hell.
This made me think of an idea of Yukari (say) getting tired of Reimu going apeshit over "Gasp, something DIFFERENT happened! MUST RESOLVE INCIDENT!" or, as in SSiB, "Nothing's happening! WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING!", and giving a speech over "Look. You're crying over spilled milk. Gensokyo's a lot nicer than it could be. Things could be a WHOLE lot worse."

Rin exists in a state of non-existence (this is touhou logic here) in a kind of nowhere-limbo-land-type-thing.  After years of building up hatred and sadness for being forgotten, she ended up turning into a completely hateful new Rin.  The only thing keeping her holding on was an intense passion to destroy everything that exists.  Then for some reason (please refer to the forbidden template) she is brought into existance as a youkai, with the nifty ability to send anything into the plane of non-existance.  And so, she starts removing anything she can from Gensokyo.  Marisa and Reimu are not happy about that and, of course, they go off to beat the crap out of her.  And then, insert 5 other bosses and have Rin as the final boss.  It ends with them slapping the sense back into Rin and she finally realizes it's much better to enjoy her existence etc. etc.  And she brings back everyone from non-existence land and happy ending.

Good idea, or do I need to go back on my meds?

Oddly enough, I can see this as a plot to another Touhou spinoff fighting game.

Bullshit Idea

While carrying some corpses into the Hell of Blazing Fires, Orin comes across a strange egg. Knowing Utusho is the only (theoretical) egg layer nearby, the kasha consults the hell raven about the egg only to recieve a confused response in return. So, the two of them take it to Satori thinking she might know of what to do with it, sense neither of them have any idea on where it came from, who it truly belongs to. Upon taking it to their master, Satori sees no ill-intent in keeping the egg around and hatching it, at least to see what's inside...

However this may prove to bea fatal move by the satori, for the thing to hatch out of this very egg is fated to become an abomination of unspeakable power and terror, that has the potential to end the very world in which we live...

While I was lying awake in bed, I started pondering this idea for a game or w/e about this weird guy in the Outside World who has a youkai-like ability to see through illusions that would normally fool humans, and he runs into a Satori, and the plot kicks off from there.

Ocular Imagine Breaker?

I have no idea what you're talking about :o

I was thinking of, like, how Yukari could see right through the illusion Keine puts on the village in IN.

On that note, I suppose sometime around crazy time, I came up with an...interesting idea.

A game where you pretty much bomb everything. As in, Literally, your only ability is to use a spellcard, which acts like a bomb in the other games. Bullets would have different strengths and would on collision, either get destroyed, or be destroyed by enemy bullets. The goal is to ofcourse, break through the enemy pattern and hit them with enough boolets to end their card. Otherwise, It'd play fairly standard to the regular series. (Spellcard bombs would be replaced by 'blank cards' which would just clear the screen.) Your own patterns would have cooldowns and levels, and you'd gain more as the game progressed. They'd also level up and change themselves. Perhaps have skill trees too. :V

It's a power the main character in Toaru Majutsu no Index has:

Imagine Breaker
Toma's power is referred to as the Imagine Breaker, which is activated when his right hand comes in contact with anything supernatural. It has the ability to cancel any magic or psychic effect.

Basically, it can negate anything and everything that is considered to be 'Beyond Human Understanding'.

Anyway...I just thought that you were talking about something along those lines.

Nah, he could just see through illusions if he wanted.

Okay here goes...

Plot:

At an undetermined time in Gensokyo, all the youkai in the land and at every human establishment received a message.

A Gensokyo Battle Tournament was announced.

More specifically, sponsored by the famous red-white herself, Reimu Hakurei.

However, one must pay an entrance fee of 5000 yen to enter.

The winner get a chance to Reimu and receives a cash prize of 250,000 yen.

As youkai and humans alike signed up and as the tournament went on, it became apparent that the tournament was just a set-up for something else...

Note: I don't think it's that difficult to find out the true motive of the tournament...

Plot: Rinnosuke's shop is destroyed in a horrible incident, and he must find out why. Oddly enough, this happened right after he wrote his will and testament, with Marisa getting most everything (rinnosuke barely survived). However, Marisa has a decent alibi and destroying your future heirlooms does not make much sense, unless you're high on mushrooms or something. It also just so happens that Rinno went on a date with [X] the previous night. Whodunnit?

In an unlikely magnitude 9.5 earthquake hitting the underworld, and subsequently the effect causing the crashing down of above grown lands in Mayohiga, forced Yukari to open a new gap connection 'lands' from the outside world.

In an even more unlikely coincidence she warped in the Holy Grail, a mystical artifact sought for many to have been the cup which Jesus drank from, or which his blood was collected upon death. It was rumored to be able to grant any wish.

In an even more even more unlikely coincidence, Cirno found the Holy Grail, and like any fine day, she wished to be stronger if not the strongest.

The wish was granted, chaos ensues.

this sounds so.... typical somehow.
