Here is what I am discussing about lately that is fully tentative.Personally, I don't mind OCs, so long as the story is well written and keeps me interested. I've never had that many problems with OCs because for one it gives a us fresh new character to look at aside from the ones we already know up and down and left to right.
All I need is refinement and I need some tips on it on what you think. Don't give me a "yeah, go ahead, that sounds good" I need to know what you think of an OC, an original character, story, background etc
Well, in the next update for Mystic Mutation I'm currently debating if I should haveYumemi using the Hypervessel against a T-Rex. I could use the dinosaur itself as a sort of 'new recruit' for the team Yumemi is pulling together so far,but I dunno, everything else I got planned out it's just this aspect that's bugging me.

As long as it's a T-Rex loli, I like, at the least.
so why did you make Haru, idort
Also I should maybe work on that OMG CHADO WOULD BE JEALOUS Kanako vs Gengetsu story. Problem is, doujin or fiction? Hmm.
But I should probably postpone everything until after my IB exams.
Did you even read RiG like you said you would? :(
As you probably know, I hate OCs since practically never used right and turn into horrible horrible overpowered mary-sue types, or they end up stealing the show from what people ultimately read fanworks for, seeing and identifying characters they know.
In before, so why did you make Haru, idort.
Anyway, to add to the story I posted above:
Both OCs have no power as of yet, only they carry the last remnants of a pure and young Hakurei and Kirisame bloodline, naturally, knowing Gensokyo, Yukari could probably spirit them away to the realm.
The only problem is really just willingness, and then learning the ropes. I wonder if Gensokyo will get saved. Here is hoping someone would tell me some ideas in how this works.
Will our OC acquire the powers true to the maiden of the Hakurei and keep the border floating?
Will our male OC become the next defender of Gensokyo and abandon his lust for gold and money?
p.s. i dunno how i'm gonna get around reisen ii's lack of a surname
Or you could subvert the hell out of her last name and call her "Reisen Deux" or something.
Reisen Mk. II.
Reisen Mark Twain?
Theme: Humans are able to change, and thus able to become more powerful more easily. However, youkai who don't start out relatively powerful have a much greater difficulty increasing in power without a direct boost from someone else (c.f. Chen becoming Ran's shikigami).
I'll probably use this in my "60 Years" storyline. Maybe in conjunction with an idea I had for a story in which several youkai (mostly from Team ⑨) do become much more powerful on their own.
Kaguya finds Reisen's revolver. She challenges Mokou to Russian roulette. Tewi blatantly fixes the game to win a bet.
KRIEGSAFFE! WHEREFORE ART THOU MINE BROTHER?You know you're addicted to Metal Gear jokes when you see that and think "Kreigsaffe! You can't do that! The future will be changed! You've created a time paradox!"
There is something strange going on at the Moon.
Unexplained earthquakes (moonquakes?) rattle the lunar surface, and show no signs of letting up. Lunar Defense Force believes that nothing is truly wrong and opt to let things run it's course however, the Watatsuki's say otherwise and consult Lord Tsukiyomi for any information.
He (or She? I dunno) only gives them one explanation to these events...The Man In the Moon is awakening.
Yeah crapped out after reading various stuff on Wikipedia about the moon.
On note: revival of the Dynasty Touhou WarriorsDepending on how much(or little) history you intend to have is how this might work out.
Yukariis a Time Ladyis fooling around again.
Ten hours without a post? Ye gods.
Anyway, I'm going to go on record as saying that I'm a dork--no, I take that back, I'm not a dork. I'm a solid-gold dorkus malorkus for thinking this one up. Hell, the idea kept me up last night, just thinking up scenes and sequences. Also a title:
Doctor Who and the Forgotten Realm
Basically, in the grand tradition of...well, Doctor Who, the good Doc TARDIS-es his way into Gensokyo. And, because he can't go anywhere without bad shit going down, he has to figure out why all the youkai are disappearing. Oh, and this takes place between seasons, so he doesn't have a companion.
Oooh. What's this burning?
Oh.
It's shame.
Which Doctor? That really makes a difference.
E.C. 0001, November 15: Lord Tsukuyomi chokes on an Earth-imported pretzel and dies.
Still, anyone else been planning on putting Touhou characters in platformers?Repeated runs of PCB and Chen's infernal spinning gave me a weird idea for a Sonic-style game once.
Evil Fic:
Marisa gets a nice, say, stick through the lung. Not fatal, but a really good reminder of her mortality, especially when it ends up with Alice treating her...
Then Yukari decides to have an idea at the worst possible time, and triggers a Border of Tsundere and Yandere on poor doll queen, causing Alice to develop the bright idea of 'fixing' Marisa perfectly.
Ensuing BAD END as Marisa is tied down and modified in a rather horribly descriptive fashion into a sentient doll, each organ sliced out one by one until she is nothing more than a nice grade of plastic... And Alice, in full Yandere mode, decides to eat each one, in full view of Marisa, so that she can have that next bit of the magician's essence to help make the Doll more powerful.
That image'll give me nightmares. Please, someone, make it reality so I can scream at a Touhou fic for once. :V

Doctor Who and the Forgotten RealmYou know, you're not the only one to have this idea. I think it would be rather amusing to see the Doctor out of his element in a place where magic actually exists, and it would be fun to see the interaction between him and the characters (face it, he probably won't leave Sakuya alone once he finds out the SDM's bigger on the inside than the outside). Also, the potential for youkai EXTERMINATION.

Man, making fanfictions is hard when you didn't write a story for a looong time.True, that's why I don't even bother myself writing a Touhouverse-only story. I do have a story with Touhou characters in it (most prominent being Yukari) but that falls to the crossover category, and I don't think anyone would be interested in it.
I made this (http://dizzy.pestermom.com/?p=danmaku) specifically as an explanation of how danmaku battles work in my particular fan-universe, but it would probably work anywhere (assuming you wanted to have characters refer to each other as "stage 3 bosses" in perfect seriousness without breaking the fourth wall ...)

Also, your stuff is awesome. I like it; keep on the good work ;D
Another idea -- I suppose there aren't many cigarettes in Gensokyo ... but there's just something about this mental image I've got of a Mokou vs Kaguya confrontation, Kaguya facing away, Mokou tossing down a cigarette and grinding it out with foot ...
Mokou pulls a pack of cigarettes from her pocket. She pulls a cigarette out of the pack, ignites one of her fingers, and lights it. She holds the pack out to Cirno, ?Want one??
Idea that came from me expanding on my short story I wrote before with Tewi becoming infected with the rabies virus and then going on a rampage killing (and eating) Reisen before being put down by Mokou. Unfortunately, the bloodshed doesn't end there, as it turns out Tewi attacked a number of other rabbits during her time of going batshit insane, which leads to those rabbits becoming infected with the 'Inaba Lyssavirus' with the virus rapidly spreading through out Eientei like wildfire. It would seem that it is only a matter of time before it makes the jump to other regions of Gensokyo and ultimately bring about the largest pandemic the oriental land has ever seen...
You won't be finding any happiness here. Only death, blood, tears andcannibalism
For the most part, faeries have very primitive thought processes. Their brains are locked on a constant cycle of "Eat-sleep-reproduce", with the occasional interjection of "Defend yourself". This mirrors most conventional animals.Jesus I write like a pretentious little bitch
Then there are those lucky few who are capable of higher, almost human-like thought. While it seems preposterous-almost ridiculous-that a dull-witted creature like Cirno can be capable of anything resembling "normal" cognitive expression, one must remember that the same "dull-witted creature" can create art, a skill not found in typical faerie societies. Granted, this art consists of frogs encased in ice, but that is neither here nor there.
Today, the faerie known as Daiyousei was experiencing a higher thought. This concept, at first glance, is thought to be quite primal in nature. The reality, however, is that it takes a lot of guts and a surprisingly large amount of brainpower to decide that it is time to run for one's life. Especially if one is running from a dear friend.
As she tore through the bushes and branches of the Forest of Magic, Daiyousei contemplated what she had just witnessed.
She was looking for Cirno, she remembered. They had a full day planned: freezing frogs down by the lake, throwing them at people, and repeating the process until the sun went down or someone killed them, whichever came first. When she came across Cirno, however, she was stooping over the body of the fay known as Lily White. "Hey, Cirno!" she had yelled. Cirno turned to face her, and Daiyousei knew instantly that something was very wrong with her friend.
Cirno's face and clothes were smeared with blood. Her hair was messy and dirty. A large lump of gristle was hanging out of her mouth. Lily's vivisected corpse laid behind her, staring at the sky, her typical jovial smile replaced with a look of abject horror. But, most terrifying of all, Cirno's eyes were bright red, as if blood had pooled and coagulated in the whites.
There was a moment in which the two looked at each other. Then Cirno rushed Daiyousei. Daiyousei ran into the forest, screaming.
They chased each other for a while. Eventually, Daiyousei ran out of stamina and collapsed against a tree. Cirno approached the fallen faerie, growling like a feral beast. Daiyousei attempted to appeal to the faerie's sense of mercy: "No...Cirno...please...it's Daiyousei! Remember?" By this time, Daiyousei was sobbing. Mercy, apparently, was not known to the ice faerie, as Cirno drew ever closer. Daiyousei looked up into Cirno's eyes. Cirno grabbed a clump of Daiyousei's hair. Daiyousei continued pleading with her. "Please, no...don't...I'm your friend-" The last thing the faerie felt was Cirno's sharp teeth ripping into her neck, stifling her last screams of pain.
Hours passed. In the gloom of the forest laid the body of Daiyousei. Cirno had spared her. Apparently, she had eaten her fill of Lily White and, having no further desire to feed off of her former friend, moved on.
Daiyousei's corpse rose from the ground. A large hunk of flesh was missing from her neck. Her face showed no emotion.
But, most terrifying of all, Daiyousei's eyes were bright red, as if blood had pooled and coagulated in the whites.
Cirno had fulfilled her needs. In doing so, she created another creature like her: a creature that knows no pain, no fear, with boundless stamina, and an insatiable, primal desire to do just one thing:
Feed.
Over the next few weeks, Cirno and Daiyousei would create more of them. Soon tens of faeries would be afflicted, then hundreds, and then thousands, and soon almost every faerie in Gensoyko was infected. As most of the faeries who were attacked didn't die, the natural automatic reproduction process common to all species of faeries was not engaged. They ran out of faeries to feed upon.
They began to attack humans...
I've been toying with the idea of Reisen mangling the shit out of Tewi. Bullied moe only goes so far before it becomes tiresome, and for me it ran out long ago.Added to the fun: Tewi is a youkai, so she'll get better. And then Reisen can do it all over again.
I'm sorry, I had to say it.
"Dragon Ball Ze"
I don't know, "murder" is just the collective term for a group of crows. I suppose it would work as an interesting title, though ...
(And yes she is)
Is there anything Touhou CAN'T be crossed over with? I've seen enough stuff to make my head spin....Try EarthBound.
Try EarthBound.
Muffin:I was going to remedy that lack with another idea I had in the past, which would be a sort of sequel to Mystic Mutation. It would have basically involved the Ryūgū-jō, or Palace of the Dragon God, which belongs to Ryujin who, just like any other dragon, disappeared from Gensokyo leaving his palace to be cared for by Otohime. There are still alot of things to work out in the story itself, but one can be certain that it will be heavily based on the legend of Urashima Tarō (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urashima_Tar%C5%8D).
Read nagasarete airantou..
there's a reason they only eat fish =D
and a lack of fish youkai besides iku..
There's the lake from Inaba of the Earth too, you know, the one where Eirin kept dumping her shady drugs that didn't make it to the market.*TATARI grin*
Hmmm, what would mutant monster fish taste like?
I don't know either, but I've gotta say I love the way you put that level of thought and research into your writing. Reminds me of a lot of chats I have with my friends that start out "Hey, do you think they have X in Gensokyo?" and end up just being silly.Oh, I know. Half the fun is taking what we're given in the games and the canon stories and saying: Okay, how would this actually work? Given difference X between Gensokyo and Outside (or at least, "Outside circa 1884"), how would this impact the daily lives of Reimu and Marisa and the villagers? If a change were brought in (e.g. electricity as of SA), how would that impact the daily lives of Reimu and Marisa? (I'm assuming that Kanako's motive was in lessening the impact that merely moving to Gensokyo had on the daily lives of the Moriya Shrine crew ...)
I do think there've been a few mentions of fishing in Gensokyo, especially if you count Inaba as canon. The fairies in Strange and Bright Nature Deity got a nice big fish from somewhere too. There's probably a fair bit in the rivers and lakes, but... you know, knowing Gensokyo, they must have their share of fish cryptids and extinct species too. There might be something interesting you could do on that front.
"When I reeled in some fish from the Misty Lake, it was already frozen. That was a real surprise, but the fish lasted a long time, and was delicious." (Angler with big appetite)The Misty Lake, incidentally, is where they went fishing in Inaba, the one with the giant monster fish. Apparently a lot of people hope to catch it.
And here I thought that there was no human fishing in the Misty Lake...
That said, thanks for reminding me about e.g. the Inabas stuff. It still leads me back to my original question: what type of fish would they be?EDITO: There's the Jishin-namazu, a giant catfish that is said to cause earthquakes and tsunamis. I recall watching an episode of Inuyasha once (shut up there wasn't shit on that night) where they cooked a said catfish for a Festival or something.
Hm... anyone else had trouble writing battle scenes for Touhou fanfiction? If so, how'd you overcome it?
Yuyuko decides she wants to dine on fairy. Not just any kind of fairy, though -- she wants to eat fairies of light. As a consequence, Sunny Milk, Luna Child, and Star Sapphire find themselves fleeing the voracious ghost in ... Tasty and Nutritious Nature Deity!
Probably the pun on the "[Noun] and [Othernoun] Nature Deity" naming scheme. Though ZUN seems to have dropped that now ...Yuyuko decides she wants to dine on fairy. Not just any kind of fairy, though -- she wants to eat fairies of light. As a consequence, Sunny Milk, Luna Child, and Star Sapphire find themselves fleeing the voracious ghost in ... Tasty and Nutritious Nature Deity!
. . . Why do I get the feeling that this is you're-going-to-hell-for-that-worthy? Not that the idea doesn't sound rip-roaring hilarious (I'm sure that if it DID get written, it's be either a barrel of laughs or up there with Trilby's Notes), but still . . .
Hmm.
"The Yama of Xanatos."
So, after playing too much Super Robot Taisen, I got the urge to make a Touhou mecha story in graphic novel form. As a starting point, I've decided it would be loosely based on the plot of SA, and will add the cast of the other games if it comes to that. For those of you who frequent the image boards/ Danbooru, I was inspired by the work of yoshi tama, nekoguruma, and others.
Those look like something that Mazinger Z and/or Great Mazinger might fight against.
Let it be known that I have almost no experience drawing mecha, so I may suck at this for a while... and maybe longer than that. I'm trying to break my bad habit of getting too precious about things, and improve along the way rather than redrawing stuff tons of times.
I'm still in the ideas phase, trying to map out character relationships. So far I'm thinking of putting the protagonists in two main crews: the ones originating in SA, and the usual heroine squad. And again the Moriya group is the donor of power (ass-kicking mechs) with ulterior motives.
Questions, suggestions?

Wriggle as Faiz! Wriggle as Faiz! They're essentially based on the same insect anyway and hearing Wriggle say "START UP!" or "EXCEED CHARGE!" as a Spellcard Declaration... *passes out*
Speaking of Henshin heroes...
After watching the past episode of Kamen Rider Decade, which proved that he can pop up ANYWHERE. I'm tempted to write a fic where he finds himself in Gensokyo no Sekai (sorry...it has become a habit.) and is wondering what he needs to do in this world. Unfortunately, I'm wondering the same thing. I just came up with this yesterday afterall.
Also, something a friend of mine suggested:
FINAL FORM RIDE! MA-MA-MARISA!
Decade: This might tickle a bit. *goes behind Marisa*
Marisa: W-what?
*Marisa turns into a giant Hakkero*

write it already.
I don't know if anyone else might have thought of this but has anyone ever considered the thought that Sakuya might be a being of the fourth dimension?
Think about it. Ourselves as beings living in the third dimension, we only understand and have control of things in the first, second, and third dimensions, the fourth being mysterious and uncontrollable to us.
However, Sakuya, a being of the fourth dimension, fully understands and controls time as far as slowing and stopping time go.
Traveling forward or back in time is a completely different dimension though (the sixth to be exact) so that may be why she can't (or can barely) go forward or back in time, because as a fourth dimensional creature, she understands little of that dimension.
What do you guys think?

Isn't the whole reason why Sakuya can stop time is because of that Stopwatch thing that Eirin "Allegedly" made along with the thought of Sakuya being a Lunarian "Allegedly".
Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.
It all goes back to the reaction Eirin shows when seeing Sakuya in IN, that suggests (To some) a relationship between them. Some people interpret this as both of them being lunarians, some as Eirin giving Sakuya them powers.I don't know if anyone else might have thought of this but has anyone ever considered the thought that Sakuya might be a being of the fourth dimension?

She couldn't have because Sakuya has had that pocket watch since her appearance in EoSD. Also since when did Eirin make pocket watches? Maybe I don't know thae latest in Touhou fandom but I don't remember Eirin making any pocket watches.
I've heard of that theory, but I always stuck with the theory that she uses the pocket watch to keep track for how long she has stopped time for since it doesn't stop with the time.It all goes back to the reaction Eirin shows when seeing Sakuya in IN, that suggests (To some) a relationship between them. And by Eirin not being around, remember, the original expedition to send Kaguya back to the moon could have happened hundreds of years ago.
The issue with that is she uses spell cards to stop time AND summon several knives around you at the same time. I'm not sure how powerful Sakuya really is but I don't think that she can do two completely different things with just 1 spell card. Hmm. It sounds like it has some sort of potential, not all of it necessarily good. I'd be wary about doing something so OC-heavy, myself, especially with that many at once. Fans won't be able to Instantly Identify With Them the way they can with established characters, and all of them are male, which is going to leave more Touhou fans alienated who wouldn't otherwise mind OCs. It's also somewhat bad that you seem to be doing a one-sided shipping with about half of them (Blazer likes Cirno, Tech wants to do "nasty things" to Mokou, etc). Worse, a lot of them don't seem to fit Gensokyo, conceptually. I mean ... a drug addict? A snake-scepter tsukumogami who outright says Gensokyo has "hot chicks" in as many words? (In short: would you seriously not be better off putting these characters in your own, original setting? Once they were sufficiently established in such, you'd at least have the (still somewhat bad in context) excuse of a crossover ...)
TOUHOU RIDE! DAZE!I swear, I swear I read this with the Diendriver's voice. I lol'd. A lot.
If you won't fund this. By god, I will.MeilingALL THE TOUHOUS fall in love with THAT FISH fron UNL, antics ensue.
Great, another idea, this one's way more serious. Here's the Basic Idea:
In the universe, there exists a nega version of everything. A nega version is like the original, but it's characteristics are flipped upside-down to create a "Negative" of the original. This story takes place in Nega-Gensokyo, but for simplicity's sake, I shall call it by the name of "N-Gensokyo". N-Gensokyo is quite similar to modern-day times when it comes to technology (They have cars, guns, computers, internet, radio, etc.)
Gensokyo is a happy place--N-Gensokyo is not.
The economy is horrible, the cops are as corrupt as the criminals, and the crime rate is at highs no one could ever imagine. The mortality rate is 70%, women are raped in the streets, and sold as sex slaves to violent psychopaths who kill them a day later. CHildren who can't do as well as the others in school are publicy shot in front of their classmates. Children who are born with diseases are diseccted alive for brutal experiments, and then sold as sex slaves to pedophiles. The government kidnaps humans and youkai alike to be sent away to horrific torture camps for politicians sick entertainment, and are brutally murdered and used as fuel.
Free press is cracked upon; artists, poets, and writers are regularly rounded up and shot publicly. Those who dare speak badly of the government are shot as well. Families who have more than 3 children have their kids forcibly taken from them and quickly sent to be killed.
Speaking of politicians, the insane president running the shithole is Cezar Crazian, a Satori. Basically the youkai version of Hitler, he believes Tengu to be the "scum of the earth", and wishes to see them all killed, so he sends them to concentraton camps, where they work till they die, or are forcibly gassed to death.
Adding to the problems, N-Gensokyo has been embroiled in a horrific war for over 5,000 years. Men and women alike send themselves off to fight for politicians they despise and don't know, while those bastards sit and laugh at how many people die for worthless causes.
In this shithole, there's one, un-important youkai: Roger "Cizzet" Freedman. His family has managed to escape the hell of city life by living simple lives as farmers. However, one day, Cizzet is drafted to take part in the war effort.
He's not the kind of person that you would expect to be a hero. He scared easily, can't fire a gun very well, and is squeamish at the sight of blood. He can barely bench press 120 pounds, and trembles constantly.
Oh, and the war took the lives of his brother and sister.
But he has justice.
And justice is rare in N-Gensokyo.
SO when he's forced to sign up with a rag-tag squadron of of quite a few unique faces, he finds it hard to belive he could do anything of importance.
But, trust me....he just might be the key to ending this war.....

I like it, but make it better by foregoing all the males, make them the usual characters we see, with very different attitudes.
heck if you know Kanji you can basically screw with the name and get the same romanji pronounciation.
Um, in my as-yet-not-started-because-I've-been-working-on-Catness fic Scarlet, I've come up with an actual name for Sakuya before Remilia named her Sakuya Izayoi. Is that okay, or is it abject fanwank?

Why not? Way back during the old, old forums I posited that Sakuya was actually an albino Spetznas operative.

Glasses or no glasses?

Alright, so, cave story is out of my head. This made me think of an idea of Yukari (say) getting tired of Reimu going apeshit over "Gasp, something DIFFERENT happened! MUST RESOLVE INCIDENT!" or, as in SSiB, "Nothing's happening! WE GOTTA DO SOMETHING!", and giving a speech over "Look. You're crying over spilled milk. Gensokyo's a lot nicer than it could be. Things could be a WHOLE lot worse."
BACK IN THAT FREAKIN BAMBOO FOREST, i run, i come out into that nice scenic palce. But now that flower field that as out in the distance is on fire - and i'm holding a medium sized orange gun.....with smoke coming out of the buisiness end, and it feels like it's recently been fired. Suddenly, yuuka flies out of the ground in a burst of blazing planty glory and HGUE sunflwoers soon follow, twist, and envelope her, and twist into soem sort of monster only recognizable as plantliek by thorns, leaves, and green. It's eyes, all 1000000+ of them, are glowing yellow. Apparently, it's yuuka. Yukari gaps in front of it and gives a short speech on how she was tired of keeping gensyoko pretty, and thought she'd put it back the way it was before all those outsiders came here (wait ,all those? who else?). The entire touhou cast is gapped around me, and they start turning into monsters. Rumia is this....beast thing, alice's flesh drops off leaving only faintly glowing bones and tattered clothes, all the fairies grow smaller, shiki becomes some sort of angel, komachi fades and becomes this black mist, and so on, except for the vampires, the yjust get older, leaner, and meaner, sakuya becomes this gruesome looking MAN(!), long story short the second most horrific was utsuho - She is the five eyed, four winged, five legged, half dead, half fire, hellish bird thing, with two beaks. Dear god. Finally, yukari just grins and her entire form becomes a gap. There are some mouths in it, and then that vanishes, and the entire sky is THAT, a gap with the eyes AND mouths. Then i wake up scared out of my wits. I doubt that little flamethrower would have helped.
....Dear god, the PNP theory says nothing about their appearances, in truth, yukari is just keeping everyone a loli so gensyoko isn't a mock up of hell.
I'm in ur topics, keepin' things organized
Rin exists in a state of non-existence (this is touhou logic here) in a kind of nowhere-limbo-land-type-thing. After years of building up hatred and sadness for being forgotten, she ended up turning into a completely hateful new Rin. The only thing keeping her holding on was an intense passion to destroy everything that exists. Then for some reason (please refer to the forbidden template) she is brought into existance as a youkai, with the nifty ability to send anything into the plane of non-existance. And so, she starts removing anything she can from Gensokyo. Marisa and Reimu are not happy about that and, of course, they go off to beat the crap out of her. And then, insert 5 other bosses and have Rin as the final boss. It ends with them slapping the sense back into Rin and she finally realizes it's much better to enjoy her existence etc. etc. And she brings back everyone from non-existence land and happy ending.
While I was lying awake in bed, I started pondering this idea for a game or w/e about this weird guy in the Outside World who has a youkai-like ability to see through illusions that would normally fool humans, and he runs into a Satori, and the plot kicks off from there.Ocular Imagine Breaker?
I have no idea what you're talking about :oIt's a power the main character in Toaru Majutsu no Index has:
