I am so sorry I didn't upload about this sooner! Had to deal with college and stuff... :blush: but enough of old shame; let's get on with it!!

As the title says, I've slowly been working on an English Patch for Book of Star Mythology out of boredom waiting for the full version ever since the Touhou Wiki translations came out this summer.

Current Progress (as of ver. 1.10)

I'm working with Version 0.02 (second demo), so I'll update the files accordingly once the full version is released (and after I beat it) :P.
NOTE: Now working with Version 1.10 (full game+extra) as of its release.

UPDATES
(10/6/2016): Well, shoot. The full version(ver. 1.00) is going to be released on October 14, so I'll hold off on updates for now.
(10/23/2016): The images are archived in a .dat file (as to not spoil the finale), so work on those will be put on hold until someone unarchives it.
(9/15/2017)  Since I wasn't able to fully complete this project (stupid .dat file... >:( ), it seems that HumanReploidJP has taken up the torch. Good luck, dude!
(11/24/2017): Finished translating the whole manual (except for Story)! Now to wait for someone to translate that... And the Extra Stage select...

Thank you for making the English version of the patch.
I'm so happy. (*?ω｀*)

But,I have to apologize to you.
Final version of BoSM is can't look at the image from the outside.
Because,if look at the game folder,they could get to know all scenario to don't have to clear.

It is not fun.

But, I want to be the English version patch can be applied.

Since the fine information is later also update, I want a little longer wait.

If Maceknight means that the image data is in a .dat file, I've written a C program to extract files from them. (Don't use it to spoil yourself, though; play through everything first.)

AFAIK the best case scenario would actually be to create a full blown official English translation if possible rather than dealing with the dat file. But that's just my 2 cents.

I don't really see how this could be translated without the image file given that all of the titles are in there. If that wasn't used all of the code to get the various images would need to be altered to point to the new location. Seems like more work than it's worth unless the code would need to be redone anyhow. Good on Uruwi for getting the extractor written. I'm assuming you have something to re-pack the images once they are altered?

Yes, the archiver comes with Danmakufu.

As an alternative, it is possible to override the original files by creating a path to the same filename outside of the archived .dat. This is the most practical way to patch the images, imo, since it only requires the original image files and knowledge of the path to the file.

The spellcard list on the wiki is not functioning correctly. Not good... :ohdear:

It doesn't matter which editor you use; you need a C compiler. and you need to link to zlib.

Well, shoot. It's been MONTHS since I last posted. Might as well explain, yeah?

When the full game was released, I decided not to do any more work on this project until after the extra stage release. Said release came during the holiday season, and because I didn't have my computer, I couldn't make any progress until winter break ended. Which was about a month later.
Combined with entering my first year of college and plenty of other life stuff going on right now...
yeah, it's no wonder I haven't been back.

That doesn't mean I've given up on this project though! I just don't have as much time on hand as I used to. And now the extra stage is out, there's plenty more to come.

In translating spell card images, music room, and spell practice, I used Touhou Biolinum font for those ones.
It took some long long time for me to do this. I still have to finish translating the following:

- Dialogues:
   - Marisa's Scenario and Extra
   - Sanae's Scenario and Extra
- Misc:
   - Music Names

- CROSSED OUT THE FOLLOWING ABOVE, MEANING, THEY ARE TRANSLATED, OTHERWISE UNTRANSLATED DUE TO THE STORYWRITER'S TRANSLATION ON TOUHOUWIKI.

btw I'm not responsible for characters' endings, and the manual, because it's hardly too tough for me to translate, especially Sanae's extra, because there's something missing in translation.

Dialogues, Music, Characters and Spell Card Names, even the Music Room, Spell Practice, Game Modes and Difficulty levels are my responsibility to translate.

Well, the dialogue for Sanae's Extra was missing in english because of the storywriter of BOSM (as I've seen on touhouwiki).

Seriously, I didn't even catch that until you mentioned it (nice catch, by the way)!

I was referring to the actual difficulty level select screen. All the difficulty level descriptions have been translated on Touhou Wiki...
...except the one for the extra stage.

The extra rank select(in green) roughly translates to:

'Cloud Mass Level'
'Clouds of anxiety cover the sky.'

An Important announcement

Hey guys, I have an important announcement to make.
So to make a long story short:
Good news:
Starting tomorrow, I'll be out of town to visit relatives in New York for a while.
Because y'know, Happy holidays!

But, uh...
I won't be able to take my PC that I use for this project.
In other words, I won't be able to work on this patch until I get back home.
...which is about a solid month from now.

So, to summarize, I should be home and back to the grind on January 14, 2018.
(keyword being SHOULD.) :P
But until then, I'll have to take a break from this project for now.

Hey everyone, I'M BACK FROM VACATION, YES!!

...ahem. Anyways, I returned home on January 14, as promised(?) so I should be up and about working on this project...whenever I have the time.
I'm heading back to college starting tomorrow, plus there's some personal stuff to take care of. As such, I won't have nearly as much free time to work on this project as I used to, so I won't be as active on it.

Am I correct in assuming that English TouhouWiki has all the available translations?
Particularly interested in Sanae's Extra & all endings (stuff that isn't on the Wiki), 'cause I'm trying to accomplish pretty much the same thing (= language patch) but in Russian. And translating from Japanese is a pain.
(BTW, if it's still needed, I can provide some rough translations of texts from in-game images that are absent on the Wiki. Namely, "Story" Manual page & Options menu.)

Just want to point out that these translations have been made largely by guessing the meaning from Google translate output (and by a person to whom English is not a first language), so if you have any other source, you should probably trust it instead.

As of now, it's... actually, it's been a while since I last did anything (because college stuff is a thing). But, you can check our progress on the very first post.
That's great to hear, especially considering how long I've been at it (since version 0.02(second demo)).
And you're right, .dat files are a pain to deal with, especially if you lack the computer programming skills to deal with them.
