Game list is out (https://gamesdonequick.com/submission/games-list). A surprising amount of big name games this year! Not really sure what the closer will be - puwexil's Chrono Trigger run seems like a good candidate but it's closed a couple of times now, so they might give it to the Octopath Traveler clusterfuck, the SM/LttP Combo Randomizer, or one of the other Zeldas that is a multi-hour 100% affair.
As a reminder, bigotry and bigotry-adjactent posting will be terminated with extreme prejudice if it appears in this thread. Anyone is welcome to post as long as they're respectful in their posting.
Other games I'm looking forward to:
* Banjo-Kazooie 100% for the wife
* Castlevania DOS, assuming this is not a typo
* Cave Story
* Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers
* ClusterTruck
* Red Alert 3
* Dark Souls 1 and 2 (though, as usual, only if I can watch them with Reddyne)
* DIVEKICK
* GrandPoo World 2, less because I have any interest in kaizo Mario hacks and more because it promises to be really funny
* Kirby 64
* Kirby Air Ride
* Koumajou Densetsu II! About time Touhou got back into GDQ.
* Marble Madness
* Mega Men 3, 11, X2, X4, and X5
* Metroid Primes 1 and 2
* Perfect Dark
* Rockman 4 Minus Infinity
* Sonic Adventure DX for the wife
* StarFox 64
* Super Mario Bros 3 race just to see if Poo breaks Mitch's NES again
* TASBlock
* Every Zelda except Majora's Mask
* Turtles in Time
-
Catlateral Damage, Red Alert 3 (aw, we aren't going to get Tim Curry's "space" bit), Invictus, Double Dash!!, Celeste TAS... wow.
(Also I'm kind of surprised we already have KHIII runs on the schedule; I feel like by the time SGDQ actually comes up, the time's going to be way below estimate)
-
I was kinda expecting Luna Nights over KDII, but seeing KDII again after a long time is fine too I guess.
-
* Castlevania DOS, assuming this is not a typo
This ought to be interesting. I wonder if the DOS port is any good, or just MegaMan DOS tier.
* Red Alert 3
I don't think I've ever seen an RTS speedrun before. Sounds like an excellent opportunity to try.
* Koumajou Densetsu II! About time Touhou got back into GDQ.
Pretty neat.
Other than that, Dime playing Doom is always nice. There's a ton of Super Mario World this time around. And I might end up watching Silent Hill 3 just to see the hilarious UFO ending, heh. Those are always fun.
-
I find it amusing to see 3 different KH3 runs listed; all differently:
Kingdom Hearts 3
Playstation 4
Kingdom Hearts III
Playstation 4
Kingdom Hearts III
PS4
Also surprised to see how short the estimates are compared to usual KH/KH2 runs. It's almost the same time as Let's Go.

You haven't caught any of the Warcraft 3 ones? They are fairly common on GDQ.

CovertMuffin has done a couple of WarCraft III runs in recent GDQs, and while a few people find him really obnoxious, most people love him. He's very knowledgable about his runs and is amazingly talented at just constantly spewing relevant information while playing. He's sure to make your first RTS Speedrun viewing experience memorable, at the very least, even if it's a co-op run (not that that's anything against Raelcun).
-
I'll defend Dark Souls 2 as the most fun to play of the 3, especially when factoring in the DLC. Could also secretly be the one most friendly to speed runs for all I know.
Luna Nights is definitely coming, but it'll be niche enough to take a round or two of GDC before it pops up.
-
Has there been a Portrait of Ruin run before? Because that one's my favourite yet I don't remember watching one.
-
You're in luck! It looks like it was done once before, at SGDQ 2015 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmSFNEQaoPM).
-
You missed the 8 character Octopath Traveler bid war. Get your money out and donate for Primrose if you want all the runners to hate you
-
I mean the thread title is a reference to that exact run so :V
-
Right, I must have missed all the Warcraft 3 runs at previous marathons. Well, no matter. This is as good an opportunity to check them out as any.
Another thing I forgot to mention in my initial post. Chasm: The Rift joins the ranks of classic PC FPS games showcased at GDQ. This is definitely something I'm going to watch.

Neat, thanks. And great that it's No OOB this time, it'll be fun to compare the two.
-
Awesome! Got into AGDQ since the last one. Would love to see Luna Nights, but there is still plenty to look forward to.
-
Actually slightly disappointed that CovertMuffin is not running the WC3 Night Elf campaign, he did the first three campaigns the last three GDQs in a run and I was expecting him to finish it out :V
-
Schedule's up! (https://gamesdonequick.com/schedule) I guess we are indeed ending the marathon with 6 hours of puwexil once again. No complaints here! (Aside from the fact that I'm busy the entire weekend.)
-
Bump to remind people that SGDQ starts this Sunday!
-
Also the schedule is pretty damn sharp for Day 1.
-
Anyone else lose the entire GDQ web sight? I haven't been able to connect since after the end of the Marble Madness run this morning.
EDIT: nvm it's back now
-
I was getting 502 errors earlier, but site is back up now and you can still watch the stream directly via Twitch

Kirby Air Ride is absolutely one for the VODs if you missed it.
-
The Cave Story run reminded me of all the reasons why I liked Cave Story but also how it can be a source of extreme levels of hypertension, especially at the end of the game. I could only complete it in the black hole of unemployment that was the 2008 recession, granting me the time and self-loathing to punish myself through dozens upon dozens of retries in order to reach the end. This guy goes through it in one shot, but not without sweating bullets.
Koumajou Densetsu 2 run was mostly great and used some sweet movement tech but reminded me how long ago it was released and how much it needed a sequel.
-
More! VOD! Recs! I wasn't around for most of the week.
-
watching some of the VODs and even though the Metroid Prime 2 run went over estimate it's still worth watching just for how great the commentary is and how hilarious Claris and the couch crew are during the run
-
If you are the type that does not loathe CovertMuffin's laugh, make sure to catch the C&C Red Alert 3 VOD.

I feel like this is the first time I've seen her actually relaxed at a GDQ. In everything else I'd seen of her before, she felt really tense and ready to snap at someone, but this year she seemed to be having a genuinely good time. I'm glad for her.
-
catching up on some of the runs I slept through and
absolutely losing it at the Wonchop donation during the Ristar run. he knows what's up.

oops we accidentally the entire 3 mil
