Does deviation from the original myths negatively impact the benefits we get from a successful heroquest? Like, in the original myth, Orlanth defeated his brother in arm-wrestling, but when we tried to do that, we lost. Will this discrepancy diminish the rewards we get in the end?

Not unless we really really deviate in such a way that it ends prematurely but not failure-ly. And even then the reward's more just full-on different.

Off the top of my head I can only think of one such result and you'll know it's way wrong before you even try it. :V

It is also possible to fail but not get kicked out, getting lost in the godplane instead, and some of your options there will actually get you something instead of just getting lost forever.

Huzzah! \o/

LOOK AT ALL THAT SWEET SWEET MAGIC WE HAVE. This is what happens when you don't fail at Heroquesting.

Damnit Iskalli you're supposed to be good at leadering.

ugh did we seriously just lose to the Elkenvali.

Sacred Time. ughhhhhhhhhhhh that harvest omen is the last thing we need right now. But our reputation has, in fact, been increased! By kind of a lot.

Well, clearly we slam everything into crops and hope. When the crop is poor Barley is the safer bet, right? I forgot, really. Either way, let's also do more facepunching of the Elkenvali until they die forever, and set up some food trades.

Rye. Barley's the neutral one.

I figure "make the crops be the right crops" is kind of a given every year anyway. :V

I get the feeling that making a tribe will cost lots of both goods and cattle, just to get people to be receptive to the idea. Maybe I'm being overly paranoid, but it's probably better to get some stuff stored up for gifts to potential tribesmates.

Also we've gotta wait for a particular event to happen, though it doesn't usually take long after rep maxes out anyway.

Yeah, let's invest in not starving to death.

So is it good or bad that we just maxed out rep without much in the way of food/goods?

Probably neither, since Arashi only said we needed to wait for an event, not that we needed to do this during that event...It might just enable another choice or something during Sacred Time or similar.  At least now there's one less thing to worry about filling, right?

This year's agenda: keep not starving!

Step one to that end: rye because bad harvest omen.

Step two: go cash in more favors.

I think Eonislara was that chick who slept with that poet? Glad she found a guy who actually seems to like her enough to stick with her.

I take Kulbrast's advice and net an extra 10 food while the Rakstanti carls QQ.

Two unknown people come to you seeking temporary refuge. They seem to be foreigners; they do not know the proper greetings, and speak only the trade language. Their clothes are tattered, and it is hard to say where they come from. "We need food, place to stay. Will fight. Fight bravely for you, especially from horseback. Will stay for ten, fifteen seasons, no more."

1. Allow a volunteer to sponsor them as guests.
2. Ask them what kind of people they are.
3. Have the chief sponsor them as guests.
4. Offer to initiate them as Orlanthi.
5. Refuse them.
6. Send them to another clan.

I would be proud to adopt them. (3)
We have enough warriors already. (5)
The omens are good, we can afford to take risks. (1)
They do not know the proper greetings. We cannot expect them to behave properly. (5)
We could send them to the Blue Spruces. (6)
If we are to make them guests, we will have to perform a Guest Ceremony. Someone will have to sponsor them; that person and his kin must take full responsibility for the guests' actions.

3. This is no more or less than exactly what they ask for.

Not voting 2, because people seem to dislike being questioned for information they purposely didn't volunteer.

Diplomacy saving the day again. It's more useful than I thought it would be. Also Iskalli has these moments where he plays proud papa to the entire clan and then some.

Still curious about what's what, so 2 then 3.

But what if they are crazy murderers and kill our chief in his sleep? I think it'd be safer to allow someone less important to take them in. 1

Free warriors!

Cowsssssssssssss. Or would be cows if they'd agreed to the deal. >=| Also, a lovely wedding.

Time to continue grinding the Elkenvali into a fine paste.

No he's not the Colymar I swear. But random mediocre (at Combat; dude's Excellent at Plants but that's no help :V) Barntari's not gonna be much good anyway. Until apparently he was?

FLAWLESS VICTORY.

Spending one point of magic juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust in case, though I think it might be overkill.

Yeah, maybe overkill.

More Elkenvali murder. Plus here you can see that the game's pretty smart about raiding anything you're particularly short on - this time we grabbed some food.

Poet-Salinarg of the Narri comes seeking your help with a raid against the Rakstanti. He reminds you of the alliance between the Narri and the Moordors, and tells you that the storehouses of the Rakstanti are like a tantalizing fruit, ripe for the picking.

1. Offer sacrifices to a war god of Salinarg's choice.
2. Politely decline his request.
3. Send a full war party.
4. Send only a token force.
5. Send more warriors than the Narri are sending.

Clans that answer such requests are respected, and follow Orlanth's way. (3)
The Rakstanti are unpredictable. Sometimes they fight poorly; sometimes, ferociously. (3)
An appeal to the gods might be just as useful as the provision of soldiers. (1)
Even if we send more warriors than the Narri, salinarg will be offended if we try to take most of the loot. (4)
Alliances can't be taken for granted; they must be tended. (1)
This is a trap set up by the Rakstanti. Don't fall for it. (2)

The last map showed Rakstani as reasonably friendly to us. We probably shouldn't send warriors, but then again whenever we raid, our allies send a token force without charging us a favor. The Rakstani may or may not ask tough questions if they see our soldiers there ... and we only have a few clans friendly.
What would 1 cost us? If it's pigs or sheep, we may have enough to discharge our obligation without hurting our finances.

Goods or cows, pretty sure. And since it's a war god, I think you need to kill things for him. (There's also a goddess that you *have* to sacrifice goods to because she doesn't like spilled blood. It's p. cool.)
