[um, art?] ITT HakureiSM discovers animating is fucking hard
« on: April 05, 2011, 11:16:32 PM »
So I gotta do this short clip as a Flash exam tomorrow.
It's supposed to be a short clip of someone walking, stopping, saying something, and that's it.
Teacher suggested we rip off character sheets from a certain website I won't post here for forum rule reasons.
This website's characters suck. They're horrible and ugly and cheap and stuff.

So I asked sensei if I could get a spreadsheet from somewhere else to animate, and he said with a big smile "well why the hell not, doit! Better yet, you could even draw your own!"
So I thought " Touhou! "

Then my rational side tells me "hey, you've never done this before, you only have a couple of days, just get a soku spreadsheet and put it together, man."
My not-so-rational side says "no :<"
So what I decided to do is re-draw the Soku positions from a base spreadsheet provided by Squid(thx Squid), and animate those drawings.

... so yeah the idle pose is 11 frames. Took me an hour to get the first done. I'm so so screwed :3
Anyways here it is, idle01.png

I intend to color these if there's time, or after the exam, I'll just keep on going

Will update as I get more done.

e: jesus christ her right hand is big. Fixing that :derp:
e2: fix'd

Not bad, not bad.

I think it is possible, but it will take quite a while. Creation and animation of complex objects takes a LOT of time for even a few frames.
Granted, Flash can help a bit, but that moves things by objects, and even then it's a bit limited (movement by object, certain planes unsupported, can't do everything for you).

With this we can also make a Soku HD remix :colonveeplusalpha:

Heh, thanks guys :V

were doing it man :colonveeplusalpha:

So uh, since I'm in the third frame of 11 of the first stance, and it's 22:00 right now, I'm p damn sure I won't have it done by tomorrow at 18 so :derp:
I'll just throw the regular soku sprites in an animation right now, then go back to drawing this, just to be sure I'll have something to deliver.

Welp, I'm delivering this.
Well, it fits the class needs, I suppose, and it's not bad for a first sprite animation.
The "drawing everything frame-by-frame" part is very tedious and not quite for assignment situations. It's better done on spare time.

Spoiler:
Next version will be called either "miko_armpits.swf" or "zombie_shrine_maiden.swf".

Hey, this is pretty nice! I wish I had found this thread sooner.

"Human history and growth are both linked closely to strife. Without conflict, humanity would have no impetus for growth. When humans are satisfied with their present condition, they may as well give up on life."
