Title: Lunacy Star STG (Test this spell card!)
Post by: チソウ タイゼン on June 21, 2011, 04:55:39 PM
It's not Touhou, but it's close?
I'm making an STG.
It's in beta.
I'd like for you guys to try it out.

It isn't the hardest danmaku in the world, but...

Well, screenshots are here on this page. (https://sites.google.com/site/lunacyindeterminate/works-in-progress/lunatic-star)

CONTROLS
Arrows = move
Z = Shoot
X = Bombs
C = Bonus Time (Requires 20+ Squares)
A = Fast-forward (Jacks up the FPS to 200 until you let go; used for testing)

Avalible Shottypes:

Ship A: analouges of Missile Marisa and Homing Reimu
Ship B: analouges of Laser Marisa and Needle Reimu

Miscellaneous
I find that by game's end that if you add up all the healthbars for every boss character you encounter each time, that they all, with the exception of the final boss, come to seven :P
There are four difficulties. There are 85 attacks. That's 280 attack captures >:D
Bonus time was made more appealing. Namely, it'll earn you twice the extend points, and the bonus at the end was multiplied by ten. Who can say no to a 650,000 bonus?
Extra lives are earned by defeating the third and fifth stage midboss, and by reaching 250, 500, 1000, 1500, 2500, and 4000 extend points.
Grazing will now prolong the attack capture bonus points by 400pt / graze.
Bomb items are now in play. That being said, deathbomb timer was extended to 0.2s.
I went and counted up the time taken for the first three stages and distributed them all. The trial takes about as long as you average Touhou trial would, with the exception being that 73% of the time spent is fighting a boss.
If there are any objections to a boss with 20 healthbars, somebody speak now.
Prepare yourselves for the longest-ass extra stage that ever existed!
End of stage bonuses are now in play. The maximum score for Normal mode players reaches somewhere around 25,000,000 as of now. (Bear in mind that that score is fucking difficult to obtain)
Edit: I was wrong! Max score of 90,000,000 was just obtained on Easy...

and lastly

EXPECT THE DEMO NEXT WEEK.

I got this while fighting the second midboss:

Code: [Select]
___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Other Event: User Defined 1
for object midboss2:

Error in code at line 8:
   ab.direction = point_direction(x,y,global.player.x,global.player.y)+a
                                                    ^
at position 51: Unknown variable x

Also, the danmaku is pretty fast and I don't see a slow key anywhere. Otherwise, not a bad first attempt!

That's triggered when you die at the exact frame in which aimed bullets are emitted.
I have since fixed it :/

Thank you.

Similar error to the above i think, but its a different code.

___________________________________________
ERROR in
action number 1
of Alarm Event for alarm 2
for object eship:

Error in code at line 7:
   aB.direction = a+point_direction(x,y,global.player.x,global.player.y)
                                                      ^
at position 53: Unknown variable x

Otherwise yeah this does look fun.

EDIT : actually its really fun.

a little fast though for me, most of my dodging is shear blind luck. :V
seems to lag up a bit on 2nd stage boss sometimes but MAY have been my computer, it can be unpredictable.

Above error only happened once early in stage 1. after that on a few runs it never happened again.

Well, that error occurs when any bullets meant to be aimed ever are created as you die.

Can I get some ideas on the game?
What shottype do you prefer to use?

And my highscore is 2, 580, 000 now :P

I forgot that I'm playing the updated version. D:
I'm in the process of adding difficulties.
A lot of it's being toned down for Easy, and a lot of what's already there is being migrated to Hard.

Thanks everyone!

What about the music, too? I'm not as bad a composer as I think I am?

Breakdown of the scoring system:
Enemies will multiply their point values under bonus time up to 10x
All squares are now 2,000
Bonus time duration in seconds is found by (squares) / 20
You need 20 squares (1 second) to initiate bonus time

Boss destruction is not affected by bonus time
Squares outside of bonus time are worth (squares) * 10
The maximum Squares is 255, leading to 12.25s bonus time and 2, 550 points per square

Bosses have a fixed bonus for each square you have when they die
The first boss for example gives you 100, 000 + 250*combo

Collecting squares under bonus time gives you an extra 0.05s of bonus time
When bonus time ends, squares collected under it give a bonus- the maximum 255 squares yield 65,000 points

I initially meant for it to be simpler than a Touhou system :lol:

Sorry everyone, but bump.

This project is still being worked on (We now have all four difficulties for two and a half stages).
It would seem that Umbra hasn't updated this for you guys yet.

Hey guys, this is a version that I'd like you to test before I release the demo with the *completed* three stages.
It allows access to the third bosses' sixth attack, dubbed the Release Ruin series.
(The boss itself is a couple of animate blocks. It's attacks up until that point have been mechanical things, and it leads to it's final spell, which has the mood "Rage" attached. A lot of the attack names have corresponding 'moods' attached.)

THIS ATTACK IS LIKE BOUNDARY OF LIFE AND DEATH
EXCEPT it is more FAST.

http://www.host-a.net/u/Chisou/stg.zip

This gives a bit of an idea as to how difficult this game is going to be. I'd like a bit of feedback on how to scale things.
(I've also added bombing and death bombing, as well as extends, spell card bonuses, and high scores. PAUSING DOES NOT WORK. PRESSING ESCAPE WILL LEAD TO AN ERROR THAT WILL BLOCK YOU OUT OF THE GAME.)
