Title: VOCALOID music thread
Post by: Suikama on October 24, 2010, 01:44:04 AM
This thread is about VOCALOID songs, as opposed to it's fandom elements. Talk about bitchin' awesome VOCALOID songs and share them with others here.

Now about some stuff I'm looking for in particular. While I've always been quite immersed in the affairs related to Touhou, for Vocaloid I've always felt like I've been just one room over from where all the good stuff is happening. Most of the songs I know are just the ones that get cross contaminated with Touhou like Poppipo or the really popular ones like Black Rock Shooter and The World is Mine. Then I occasionally run into awesome songs like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjWl4vVdtAY&feature=related) or this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHkxp8CTVLk&feature=related) and I'm left wondering about many things, as my knowledge of thier origins and artists and other trivia are only on a level of comprehention as CNN's understanding of Bad Apple.

So basically what I want to know is what's good in the VOCALOID world. Good songs, good artists, good PVs, thier history, thier popularity, whatever you guys got.

So bring on the Miku! ;)

I love this song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQleqMY84oU).
It's not Miku though.

The song's wiki page: http://www5.atwiki.jp/hmiku/pages/803.html

Thanks.

I like Melt, but before about 2 weeks ago my exposure to Vocaloid songs was minimal at best.  Once I started playing Project Diva I became more interested.  I'm still pretty much only listening to the stuff from the arcade game, but there's some good stuff out there.

7 Vocaloid chorus Bad Apple!! just wins on so many levels to me. Though I'm not very fond of Gumi for some reason. Not sure why though.

Miku is too high pitch for me, but I really like the songs that are written for her.

Here's a short list of songs I got: (Random selection) (The songs from Re: Packaged need their ID3 tags fixed, but you can check the track listing online. I own both CDs.)
http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/6812/screenshot20101023at733.png

Also, ELECTROCUTICA has two albums that have Hatsune Miku in them. They make incredible music that almost beats everything I got on this list.

VOCALOID <333333

I'd have to say 'secret' by Luka or 'Your Love Will Surely Sky-Rocket' by GUMI

OR~ -ShotToDeath-  :derp:

I will be frank with you, my favorite song is the song that almost killed someone out of depression.

A Wanna Die (Shinigatari)

so yeah.

I love those as much as I like the originals. Especially the NNC version of Rin's Meltdown.

Btw, Luka would be my fave Vocaloid. I love her voice and she can also sing screamo metal! :3

Here's the PV. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2D7sP6FLk7Y)

Just be Friends is a very nice demo of her voice, but when AVTechNO! touched it, she becomes my electronic sexbomb.

My favourite Luka songs would be Tower and Palette. She sounds almost human in Tower, and Palette is just stunningly beautiful.
I like Miku, too, but more when she uses her lower range than her higher range, like in ARiA and her cover of Uninstall.
Rin and Gumi, not really a fan of. Sorry, Rin and Gumi fans.

Ah yes, Vocaloid... Where to begin...

Everything by CosMo. Division->Destruction (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fx-7iDT84BA) and Singing Passion (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEYkYf5cgvU) are my favourite. He's more known for Disappearance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zbNykVQUUg), though.

Also need to mention Sasaruke P. Gumi's "Our 16 Bit Warz (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zfmDv_dGWq0)" is my favourite. His signature song is Hello, Planet (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCwtPsy9ITo), and he has also produced many other neat chiptunish songs as well: This Weekend's Coming! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R7vF-hB55E4), Wanderlast. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBYMuMS67EU&feature=related)

Let's discuss the Daughter of Evil series. In a word, awesome. The plot is amazing and the side stories for each of the characters add a whole new depth to it, especially Daughter of White. In fact, I am in the middle of writing a story adaptation of it.

I finally got around to sasakure's  "end of the world" series. Took me a while, I know. How did it elude me for so long?

Liked the first and last songs, 16 bit Wars was painful for me. WANDERLAST was Okay.

What does it all mean, though? It seems like the first and last songs share a narrator, as do the middle two. So... War-Guy goes to fight in war-Something about a garden-Guy dies, Girl kills herself? I dunno, these really need some better translations.

No love for UTAUloids? :(

Well anyway, I like Rin Kagamine, but I absolutely am not fond of her male counterpart (although the bro has a nice hairstyle, plan to do the same thing too, only less anime-like. Keeping the ponytail tho :derp:). He should have been a female....

Meltdown (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ox5-fEH4Ww) did best for her IMO. Also this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btqZejLvZFU). :derp:

Sleeper Tie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94MiXWVVZq0&feature=related) did an amazing job on stressing her voice into becoming almost realsitic.  Also, who can ever forget the musical orgasm from the song  Kokoro? Especially when it's a duet between Rin and Len (You're only awesome in this song, bro.) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKv7cw_Z1P4)

I love Luka too. She's too awesome. :D

There's a lot of songs that I like that are from here, but there's this one called Dye (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LciylndQPu8) that somehow got me hooked and a song cover for Crucify My Love (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cE3waZPdO_0).

Here, this song is called  Matryoshka (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JGaQ3g8WU4) and it's epicly done by Miku and Gumi.

Also, I'll just leave this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUa3DMuHwug&feature=related), this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToPs4uAppAU) and this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGQPcw5WZ8M) here. Hehehe. :3

If you guys have already approached ON SAWMEN the album and tried the first The Producers feat. Hatsune Miku (etc) P1 - The Experience, you should know that P2, - The Producers is already out as well.

It is a fantastic album.
like welp... so painfully awesome.

Megane  (sung by Len) was an incredible aural pleasure to listen to.

It's not 100% Vocaloid, but it's not 0% either.

DECO*27 - Love-Lost Elegy feat. Marina (愛迷エレジー) (Translyrics) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EmOOnU1ykRQ)

Also, Deco has a site now! Neat.

Once I started to collect Hatsune Miku's song. I had collected 222 songs. I thought that I should only focus on that website upgrades. Then at the same time, I need to find Kagamine's as well. But after I found that it's only a software, I gave up because Vocaloid virtual singers' songs are limitless.

Due to Vocaloid is a kind of software which you can tell the virtual singers how to sing a song. Sometimes the songs made by those fans user are great as well. So I think that Vocaloid songs are unlimited. I spent much time on collect it and ended up to find that I was stupid to do it, I can never collect all of them.

ELECTROCUTICA - Crystalloid
(http://img291.imageshack.us/img291/6775/cryssmall.png)
This is Electrocutica's third album, featuring Vocaloid voices Megurine Luka and Hatsune Miku.
I think twice before listening to anything Vocaloid, especially Miku, since they're pieces of software that are VERY difficult to manipulate correctly.

Sure, people might write a few songs and have the software sing, but fine tuning the voice to produce the best (most realistic / softest / most mature, w/e) pitch of voice is something that not all composers can do.

In Crystalloid, VOCALOID vocals sound crisp and clear, clean and vibrant. Miku's pitch isn't ear-shattering, in fact, she becomes closer to sounding like a real human.

As for the actual music, if the circle's name didn't give you much of a hint, yes, it is purely electronic music. Mixed electronic sounds with a software voice. If you like this sort of thing, then this album is probably what you're looking for!

High-quality preview here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dTWGRMDyeI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dTWGRMDyeI)

9 Tracks. Check out Electrocutica's two other albums if you're interested. They also produce original music with human vocals.

I hope people don't mind me posting in this vaguely old topic, but I don't think it's worth starting a new one... :ohdear:

Personally, my favourite vocaloid songs are all songs by the Kagamine twins. So often you get really sad and touching songs from them.

Someone's already mentioned Kokoro, which I agree is best heard in duet form and is probably my favourite of the songs, as well as the Daughter/Servant of Evil storyline.

However, I feel I also have to mention Prisoner (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoK5d58G20c) by Len and the response song by Rin, Paper Plane (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfPKTzq0LRM). They're so sad...
