I'd say the annie buffs are quite strong. But I guess we will have to see how it turns out in practice. I wouldn't be surprised if they are nerfed a bit next patch.

Potentially stupid question incoming!

So, I've got a basic cookie-cutter-y build worked out for mages (and it's not even a whole build, and I can change shit if needed yadayada). It's just something to get me started.

What I'd REALLY like is something like that for AD characters and tanks.

Like... three or four items that are all-around pretty good for both. Just so I have a nice starting core to work from.

I agree that there is a lot of variety for tanks and AD carries itemwise than there is for mages. But if I had to reccomend one item for AD carries, I'd go with last whisper. In most games it is a necessity (for mages I tend to favor Void staff over Abyssal for the same reasons

). Of course you could always rush Infinity edge :V

After getting a HoG or two or three or five :V, Randuins is still perfectly fine to get. Take my advice with a grain of salt because A) Tanks and AD carry items usually depend a lot more on the hero than mage items and B) I play 80-90% mages!

learn to strategy

position properly

call mias when enemies are missing from your lane

buy vision wards/oracles when shaco or evelynn are on the enemy team

things like how to play x or what items to build require a more specific inquiry

Try to last-hit minions as often as possible. For some (read as: For Malzahar) that's ridiculously easy. For others? Not so much.

This. Everything else you will learn naturally just by playing more and more. But instead of running hither and thither cluelessly, just stay in a lane and execute a killing blow on every little half-pint that comes your way (not your own little guys of course :V). Then after amassing much gold, go buy whatever item has the coolest name in the store (that hideous pig, wihle ugly, sells awesome stuff). This strategy will never fail you! don't get greedy. trying to push towers when they have a jungler/people are mia is incredibly risky gank-wise
The same goes for chasing champions running at lowhealth, unless you have a ridiculous range ult (lux/cait) or general good judgement

sight wards too- dragon, baron, the bush at the river/midlane junction are all convenient spots

going b to heal is > than trying to be heroic and giving whoever killed you gold and exp

LAST HITS CANNOT BE EMPHASIZED ENOUGH.

Speaking from Alistar's perspective here:

Run in. If your ult is survival oriented (as Ali's is), pop it immediately. Drop your CC spells and get between your ranged and their melee.

Admittedly poor explanation, but hey.

If there were one thing, just ONE THING, that I can force into every newbie's brain, MAP AWARENESS. MAP AWARENESS.

For god sakes, know where you are, where the enemy is, and where everyone isn't. I'm tired of people walking right past the enemy in the bush they find teleporting, not seeing I need help 5 feet from them, walking right into 5 enemies, etc.

But I'm screwed from the map being in the bottom right corner. IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER PEOPLE.

I have somewhat of a tip for new players, this is basically almost what i did.
Try out all of the champions on rotation and see which role you enjoy playing the most. So, let's say you tried out a mage, then try to find a mage champion that you think seems interesting, get it and read a guide. After playing it a while you will get a basic understanding of what masteries and items are good for mages. And if you do this with a skillshot heavy char, you will probably get better at aiming.

I said mage-ish.
Not an actual mage.
Both of which are generally good as AP champs, since all their skills are magic-based.
And since all their skills either do magic damage, or are CC, that pretty much makes them mage-ish in my books.
Doesn't matter if they aren't referred to as mages, they still have that tankmage flavor.
Hence why using mage-ish builds on them is generally effective, since as Maokai one of you more commonly-used moves is gonna be either Sapling Toss, Arcane Smash, or Twisted Advance. All of which are boosted by AP. Not AD, AP.
In fact, some of the items that do good on Singed, like rod of ages, also do well on Maokai.

there's an option to set it to that in-game
"flip minimap" or something in the more options menu

What kind of thing do you like to do? If you like to KILL KILL and KILL again, I would recommend Akali, Xin, Kassadin. If you have fun pouncing on an enemy carry and disrupting a team fight, go with shen, rammus, alistar, Maokai, Irelia, Jarvin, Singed etc. To be honest, Lee Sin is the one melee that doesn't serve any real function or purpose (doesn't jungle well, doesn't lane well, doesn't teamfight well), and I would reccomend against buying him.

If you like to get close to heros and mess'em up, there are two ranged champs that come to mind that do exactly that! They are LeBlanc and Swain. I'm so incrediably biased because those two heros are my #1 and #3 favorites, respectively :V

I was thinking about a fighter who can take decent amounts of damage while still dealing tons of damage.

And also, i too <3 Maokai. I usually play him as a tank when he is on rotation but for now, Amumu is the tank for me.
