http://ejje.weblio.jp/ <- This is a website that will be of great help to you, most likely.
When I do the spell translation, I tend to go with what's written directly, even if there are errors (as in, the spell is Single target, but the description says multi-target). I don't change it, but would it be better for me to test them all and make sure I have the right effect/target/attributes/etc.?
On the spreadsheet, you posted the character limit for description (which I assume extends to spells and skills). I'll try to adjust them all to fit it before sending you the spell file, but I was wondering: Is it possible to use breaks (@) to add lines and bypass the character limit or will that cause problems in formatting?
Edit: Also, you're keeping patch version numbers, right? So people will know if their patch is outdated/which patch to revert to if it breaks something.
Nice going~ Hope to see more progress, and I'm cheering you all on!
Anyways, in dungeons on my computer, the "Encounter" text goes off the screen, and the right side of the screen had some stuff cut off in general.
Just to let you know. It might be something that's only present on MacOSX using Wine 1.7.0 (I have yet to test other versions) [font issues are the most common issues when running windows games on mac]
Edit: 光る綺麗な旗
Hikaru kireena hate
Light (verb), clean (adj), flag (noun)
So I guess it'd be something along the lines of a Flag of pure light.
Edit: Also, you're keeping patch version numbers, right? So people will know if their patch is outdated/which patch to revert to if it breaks something.
In my experience with LoT1, once the majority of people have a version that "works, mostly", they'll stop upgrading. So ideally, there will be a single release after the one that's already out there and hopefully no need for bug fixes.
If I do need bug fixes... well, I actually didn't ever version the English patches for LoT1, despite releasing several of those. I suppose I will if I have to put out a second patch for the same official version or something.
007C9830: 「Shield Defense」I should be able to see if she uses it in her boss fight soon. Thanks to the wiki not mentioning the fact that I needed Minoriko to be at adequate BP as well, I've wasted a ton of time trying to clear Okuu's event towards getting Yuuka.
It was Shiled Defense in the subclassSpells.txt I sent you
007C95D0: 「Flashing Decapitation」
It was Flashing Decaption
007C8ACC: 「Dance of the Cochlea」
Was Dacen of the Cochlea
So, something I still find weird, even more with all the spell effects you posted: Master Spark x2. It seems Yuuka should have a Master Spark (it has a description of it in the character's spells, plus it appears in the effects), and yet she can't use it, oversight or just last minute change? Still find it strange that they decided to remove one of her signature spell (she probably also uses it in her boss fight, but I was overleveled when I fought her, so she didn't have time to do jack)

Updated pastebin with spell card names and some of the bestiary, I've left the japanese names, so we can do some revisions if needed.
Bug list pulled from the jpwiki (I ignored all the spelling errors):
-Normal attack says that it uses "the higher of ATK and MAG", but currently it only uses ATK>
-Nitori, Eirin and Ran's "Cooldown" skill isn't working at level 1, and at level 2 it's only 2x.
-Minoriko, Kaguya's "Desire to Rest" skill isn't working.
-"SDM Residents" effect does not increase agility.
-Reimu's Spell "Fantasy Seal" accounts for enemy DEF.
-Marisa's skill "Malice Cannon (Marisa)" isn't working.
-Momiji's skill "Tengu's Watchful Eye" doesn't seem to have any effect.
-Rumia's spell "Moonlight Ray" accounts for enemy DEF.
-Komachi's spell "Scythe that Choose the Dead" has DTH effect.
-Nitori's spell "Kappa's Illusionary Waterfall"'s DEF debuff aspect isn't working.
-Wriggle's spell "Poison Touch" isn't working.
-Kaguya's spell "Dragon's Necklace" ignores enemy MND.
-Nazrin's skill "Myouren Temple Personnel" isn't working.
-Rin's spell "Vengeful Cannibal Spirit" doesn't inflict Terror, but inflicts Shock
-Satori's spell "Brain Fingerprint" isn't 100% accurate.
-Yuugi's spell "Unremovable Shackles" doens't inflict silence
-Meiling's skill "Gatekeeper that wants to rest" doesn't work.

-Sanae's skill "Divine Protection of Moriya" isn't working, while "Last Wish" has its effect isntead
-Kanako's spell "Beautiful Spring like Suiga" does not debuff MAG
-Suwako's spell "Mishaguji-sama" does not debuff DEF
-Suwako's skill "Ability to create Earth" does not work.
-Flan's spells "Forbidden Fruit" and "Laevatain" takes the "MP penalty from teammates" from Flan as well.
-Flan's skill "Vampiric Wrath" does not work.
-Yuyuko's skill "Banquet of Regret and Sympathy" does not work.
-Yukari's spell "Shikigami Yakumo Ran+" accounts for enemy DEF.
-Byakuren's spell "Skanda's Leg" confusingly meshes up PHY and WND. It's actually WND elemental.
-Byakuren's spell "Sutra Scroll - Duplicating Chant" increases ATK
-Eiki's spell "Bar of the Ten Kings" description mentions both single-target and multi-target. It's actually multi-target.
-Protector's skill "Efficient Concentration" doesn't work.
-Protector's spell "Shield Defense" doesn't lower SPD.
-The Bee Shield's "Damage +12% when HP is full" actually activates when MP is full.
-When using options -> return to title screen from within the dungeon, the "consecutive battle bonus" is not correctly initialized (inb4 major glitch abuse)
-Why is Hina an aquatic creature?
-Why is Eiki a plant?
-A certain Magatami boss on later floors isn't Inorganic like its pals
-An enemy on 16F "闇光の経霊" doesn't register in the bestiary
-Achievement 16 doesn't get unlocked
-Achievement 28 gets unlocked at 20000 skill levels instead of 10000
-Equipments which affect HP/MP regeneration has its effect calculated again when levelling up/down. (For example: If someone equips an item that increase MP regen by 1, levelling up/and down will turn the bonus into 2.) This gets reset when changing equipments, changing skill points or distributing points.
-At about level 900, experience points from level down overflows.
-Sometimes character don't recover MP correctly in the back row.
-If you defeat 密林の凶蔦眼 (no idea what monster this is) while 凶蔦眼のツタ (no idea what monster this is either) is still alive, the latter using a certain skill that affects the former will crash the game. Similar scenario happens with 16F and 17F's FOE.
Btw Regal, do you have all the names for the items? I'm trying to update the reference sheet with everything from the jap wiki, so I want to try and keep consistent with what you translated, or make change if I have new references for them
I thought the file I gave you had all the monster attacks, not just half of them.
Well, here they are anyways (http://puu.sh/4f9Df.txt). The random 斬一閃 in the middle is same as warrior's first skill (which should be translated as "Iai Slash" to keep consistency with LoT1).
DOUBLE POST: While playing the game, I realized that part of the game script actually describes some of the game mechanics, like press M for guaranteed encounters, get under the level of boss icon to get extra stuff, FOEs and so on. I think I will work on those parts first, then work on item descriptions (haven't worked on translation for the past few days because actually playing the game and stuff)
Here's your item file, I did a few change, but not much, since we already caught quite a few references and there is still a lot anyway to do, I'm trying to search for them and verify the english name, but some games are pretty obscure and I don't get very lucky...
http://www.mediafire.com/?8wqhf6co46oumjf
And damn can't wait to see how it's going to look in the end, I think we're making good progress
It'll get slower from now on, sadly. Game script is a huge pain in the ass for my current level of Japanese; even with a dictionary I can only read about one out of two lines on average, so I'd have to be consulting a lot for those.
I should be able to see if she uses it in her boss fight soon. Thanks to the wiki not mentioning the fact that I needed Minoriko to be at adequate BP as well, I've wasted a ton of time trying to clear Okuu's event towards getting Yuuka. She does indeed use Master Spark.
On the subject of Iai Slash, I should probably adjust the transchecker script to ignore the Japanese quotes or something and not require an exact match. I'm sure there's other duplicated attack names. One I noticed in particular was "Froggy braves the elements" versus "Kero-chan braves the wind and rain". That's definitely one I'm aiming for consistency with. That, and "kero-chan" is dumb.I don't want stuff like that left in the wiki.
One I noticed in particular was "Froggy braves the elements" versus "Kero-chan braves the wind and rain". That's definitely one I'm aiming for consistency with. That, and "kero-chan" is dumb.
"Kero-chan braves the wind and rain" was taken directly from Suwako's spellcard on the wiki, I didn't really check the LoT1 wiki to check the name when I first did those spells.I believe it's "Froggy braves the elements" in the English MoF patch, and that it was changed to the current name sometime later, probably because people felt it wasn't literal enough.
The items are out of order, which is giving me trouble associating them with their counterparts on the wiki.
And while I'm at it, I added translations for the Tisiphone Edge (http://goldensunwiki.net/Tisiphone_Edge), Happy Hat (http://dragonquest.wikia.com/wiki/Happy_hat), and possibly the Teardrop Crystal (http://legendofmana.info/walkthrough/events/the-teardrop-crystal/).
I also complained about the lack of a Pwnhammer, but that's neither here nor there.
Is it just me, or are the descriptions on the wiki for Ability to Create Heaven and Ability to Create Earth switched for Kanako and Suwako? It makes more sense for Kanako to be in the far left and for Suwako to be in the far right rather than the way skills currently describe.I'm going to check that with the scientific method. If I don't write back afterwards, assume that I died in the name of SCIENCE and VIDEO GAMES.
I'm going to check that with the scientific method. If I don't write back afterwards, assume that I died in the name of SCIENCE and VIDEO GAMES.Suwako can always create Heaven since there's tons of Loli fans out there, me being one of them. Though I'm not particularly a fan of Suwako for some reason. Jokes aside, I just wanted to make sure the skills were correct before editing the respective Play notes under both of them.
Also the skill names are swapped in the current version of the patch, unless I got my canon wrong and Suwako can indeed create Heaven.
Also, which is the more accurate translation for the skill that costs 10 points and increases the MP recovered by 50% when under 33% MP by consuming 5 TP? Under Minoriko, its listed as Rapid Charge while under Alice, its listed as Emergency Charge.I think its Rapid Charge, anyway, some of the wiki will have to be redone once the patch is out cause we had to modify skills and spells.
I think its Rapid Charge, anyway, some of the wiki will have to be redone once the patch is out cause we had to modify skills and spells.
For Earth/Heaven: I did my check. 1) The skills do not work. They don't appear in their buffs, no matter what position they are in. 2) Kanako has the skill to create Earth (乾), while Suwako has the skill to create Heaven (坤), I've checked on the untranslated game. This is most likely an error on their part, as it doesn't make sense otherwise.
乾 IS heaven while 坤 is earth, so the in-game names are not wrong. As for skill testing, are you sure you had four members out?
Added my own addition to the bestiary here: http://pastebin.com/9ufYMyWN. I completed all the missing names I can find, as well as changed a couple of them.Yea I saw that someone put that name on the dungeon wiki for it, but, since it didn't have a katakana name, and it didn't actually look like a goat monster to me, I just went with a more direct meaning to it.
007DF2E4: Black Goddess of Fertility
黒き豊穣の女神
From what ja.wikipedia tells me, this is apparently an alternative name for Shub-Niggurath (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shub-Niggurath), which is a monster that appeared in LoT1. However, there it had its proper name in katakana (シュブ=ニグラスShubu-nigurasu), and I am unable to find any English source which had claim to this "alternative name", so I handled it by just translating it directly. If someone can find what this name is supposed to be in English, please post about it.
Yea I saw that someone put that name on the dungeon wiki for it, but, since it didn't have a katakana name, and it didn't actually look like a goat monster to me, I just went with a more direct meaning to it.I was the one that named the boss that. I just named it based on its similarity to the mob in LoT1 and even commented as such on page itself. I'll wait for you guys to finalize everything else except the story then I'll make adjustments to the wiki accordingly.
I've adapted some of the names because I thought they would fit better. Example: "Chrysomallus", while the katakana translated directly to "Great Sheep", I prefer the former name, it's a mythological ram, so I thought it would fit with the image and be a bit more "dangerous sounding" than a sheep.
Edit2: Also, on the achievement stuff, I just realized there still is a lot of Money +X or have X amount of money that I didn't change for Yen. Once I send you the completed achievement part, I'll have them corrected.
Leave it as money. Where did that "Yen" thing even come from? I asked two other translators and they both said it is explicitly "money".Alright, I'll leave money then, we'll have to redo the menu images to reflect that cause it says Yen right now
The addresses in the bestiary text file are completely wrong (Regalstar's copy, but presumably both). It's giving errors that it can't find the original string, and indeed, I can't find the address in either the 1.130 or the 1.120 string dump. Where did you get the untranslated data?
Alright, I'll leave money then, we'll have to redo the menu images to reflect that cause it says Yen right now
I took it from the pastebin you sent with all sort of stuff (names, enemies and spell names)
Also, while I'm thinking about it.SPD is what LoT1 used and like you said, its more representative of what the stat does.
SPD or AGI? We currently have both mixed up in the current patch. AGI would be the closest to the kanji used for the stat, and SPD is more representative of what the stat does. What did LoT1 used (we're probably better off using the same)
is the current patch going to be released as is/current version/ with current bugs, or are you going to wait until the new edition and then fix everything it changed?
can't wait to get started, but the patches to unlock 21 and 22F might actually take 3+ weeks, as they have a ton of bug fixes in the current version as it is.
The translation is probably going to take longer than 3 weeks.
from the looks of all the dumps almost everything is doneexcept all of the dialogue afaik
i meant what is currently 'the game' verses the time of waiting for and doing the 21/22F. from the looks of all the dumps almost everything is done, except maybe the image edits, making it be in line with LoT1, and spelling checks, and ofcorse gathering everything and putting it together then pluging it.
but i don't recall speak of subclass abilities being done, so i guess that's a thing, but i might have just forgotten it.
I think you answered somewhere but I can't recall where. but are you plan on releasing an "everything but dialogue" patch once that's done?
I think you answered somewhere but I can't recall where. but are you plan on releasing an "everything but dialogue" patch once that's done?I was planning on releasing a second menu patch with just essentials, e.g. item names, the menu stuff, probably subclass skills as well, once either the images were redone or when 3peso releases the next patch, but it honestly doesn't seem like either will happen anytime soon.
that would be great, cause other then the (useless) bestiary its mostly done right now other then edits and plugging and stuff. Can't wait to start running with the gang in the other threadActually, I don't think anything is fully translated yet. There's still huge amounts of Japanese text in skills, achievements, items, and bestiary. Even the menus aren't fully translated. I don't seem to have any character spells at all, which is odd because I thought they were done.
I don't seem to have any character spells at all, which is odd because I thought they were done.
I sent them, but I guess it went unnoticed. I did find it weird not seeing the spells in this patch XD

How about "We've obtained Items 「%s」 * %d"?

Also, don't know if it's from the translation patch or a bug in the original game, but I think there is one line that for some reason is incorrectly placed:
I'm kind of surprised that the British spelling for "centre" has been used.
So this is the whole changelog: (taken from /jp/)
-After clearing the game you can start over with all characters unlocked from the beginning. After applying the patch you have to defeat the last boss again to set it.
-Increased strengthening cost at the library. No big difference in the beginning, but from Lv50 on it will become grave. After applying the patch the levels will be recalculated.
-Chain battle bonus maximum decreased to +100%.
-When starting a NEW GAME you can now choose "Hard Mode".
In hard mode you can only increase status levels up to your exp level and cannot fight bosses when above the challenge level.
Now, if you defeat the last boss, clearing hard mode and save this flag, these limiters will be released.
-Changed some boss abilities. Some became stronger, some weaker. Overall stronger.
-Corrected bugs related to achievments. Also lowered some requirements.
-Decreased the effects of exp-increasing skills.
-Inserted some of the missing effects.
-Changed some characters' abilities and skills. Raising and lowering.
-Fixed bugs, misspellings, skill effects and others. About 30 total?
(http://img.ie/images/ia9w8.png)How? Those stats...
Yup.
Also, please use "Money", not "Yen".Woops, forgot to change them back. It'll be corrected for the next achievement txt I send.

Here's the correction for everything except the 2 items.

EDIT: I have a question. Shouldn't the physical type of damage be PHY instead of PHYS? It's a bit weird to see all other damage types with three letters and that one with four.
Here are my suggestions.
007FCC08: You have completed Hard Mode by defeating the last boss, the difficulty is cancelled.
007FCC90: the restrictions of this mode will be cancelled.
007FCCF4: Also, when playing on Hard Mode and defeating the last boss,
Since ver1.140, you can now start a game on Hard Mode difficulty.
The differences from a normal game is that, at the Magic Library,
you cannot raise a character's parameter higher than its Lvl * 1.2, and your party's average
level cannot be higher than that of a boss you are fighting.
Also, on Hard Mode, once you've defeated the last boss,
the restrictions for the difficulties will be removed.
Do you want to start the game in Hard Mode?
Perhaps "Also, when playing on Hard Mode, these restrictions will be cancelled after defeating the last boss" for the last two.007FCCF4: また、ハードモードでプレイを開始した場合、
"Hard Mode" probably shouldn't be capitalized, though.
I don't know how this text shows up in game, but "when playing on hard mode" seems really redundant. I'm assuming it's something like:
Is this accurate? If so then that "also, on hard mode" is just really redundant.
"Achieved" is definitely odd. Is it actually the same word used for stuff like achievements? Personally, I'd like to use "cleared"The term used there is 達成, which means achievement (as in achieving something) while the term in Keine's School is 実績, which also means achievements (as in results, performance, xx experience)
That's strange, cause I tried starting a new game with no save files (so something completely new without having beaten the last boss) and I still had the same message at the start of a New Game. I also didn't see anything when beating the last boss on normal, at least not in a game started in a previous patchJust adding in that I also didn't see anything new when I beat the last boss in the latest patch (1.141).
Just adding in that I also didn't see anything new when I beat the last boss in the latest patch (1.41).Everything here is because they changed the description in this patch, which means our translation didn't carry over. It's corrected in the pastebin I've posted earlier.

Took a quick look at all the skill text. I may have missed a couple but I think I went through them all. Some of these might just be that you guys haven't translated yet but some of them are just the MP cost and attack type left in Japanese.
You sure you don't want me to do anythin yet? Because that editor of yours is really taking his time. :munch:I won't use Comic Sans. I promise
Everything here is because they changed the description in this patch, which means our translation didn't carry over. It's corrected in the pastebin I've posted earlier.Ah that makes sense.
Ah that makes sense.
I should do some more poking around to find if there's more, but Divine Barrier is still translated as Rugged Horns of the Strong.
God they can have some of the most obscure and random references, I swear this is driving me crazy. I commend you guys who translated the first game and were able to keep those in-game jokes in, cause that is just so much work.

007FFDC0: W-well, whatever you say. @From the looks of the village, there are a lot of lodging facilities aroud now.

007FFDC0: ま?まぁ、その話はどうでも良くてだな。@里を見て回って気付いたんだが、今は宿泊施設がガラガラでね。
Could I get that fixed?
We'll also need to change 信じる心 which was translated as "Believing Mind", it's actually "Symbol of Faith", an item in Dragon Quest 4. I don't know the line for it though
短剣スカートメクリ, I put "Skirt-tearing Dagger", it's "Flipskirt Dagger", from Rance Quest
ひのきのぼう was "Cypress Bou", it's "Cypress Stick" from Dragon Quest
Hmm, well, I consulted TVTropes and Jojo wikia for that one, and they listed it as Dark Will. It would be nice if someone who's familiar with that manga provide an example of how the most popular manga translation handles it, as we should adhere to that.
007E3888: Patchy's Philosopher's Stone
should be
007E3888: Passive Philosopher's Stone
(パッシブ賢者の石)
On the Party Info screen, the Party Average/Maximum Level number runs off the screen, which is useful for those aiming to be within the boss challenge levels (though I suppose the max level is obvious). Could probably just abbreviate as Avg and Max for now.
You also missed my earlier correction:
Oops. Sorry. Got it now.I think he's just referring to that specific part of the screen and wasn't sure what its actually called.
Uh, I see average level (I'm thinking of just shortening it to that; I think "party" is implied"), but where is max level?
I think he's just referring to that specific part of the screen and wasn't sure what its actually called. No, I mean, I see "Party Average Level x" in game. There's a string in the trans files for "Party Maximum Level %d". But I don't know where this shows up in game.
Havent found it either, its probably for something thats not implemented yet
Also, the item "Shrine Maiden's Ema" is called "Miko Board" in Widenyo, but its a fan translation so we can keep our translation if it doesnt take too much space
"Party Average Level" is used on Normal Mode. "Party Maximum Mode" is used on Hard Mode. Hard Mode uses the max level of your characters to determine if you can fight or not the corresponding boss, instead of the average level of your characters.

Well, I'm not taking your gold for nothing either.
Hmm... I do believe that item is called "Tokyo Metronome" ("東京メトロノーム").I'm trying to look what they translated it as in the fan translation of the game, though it's probably gonna stay the same.
Kogasa's 暢気 (Easygoing) skill description was translated wrong.I've seen Kaguya's, Eirin's and Reisen's not consume MP at the start of a turn, and the damage doesn't seem to change, so it might be bugged
When she uses concentrate, she heals double her HP regen. Back row HP regen doesn't change.
Nazrin's 命蓮寺関係者(Myouren Temple Personnel)
She actually copies Byakuren's buffs, if Byakuren's buffs are higher than her's.
Kaguya's, Eirin's, and Reisen's 'Ignore part of defense at a cost of a 75% chance of using 1MP at the skill holder's turn'
I'm quite sure the defense-ignoring part works every time.
Some skill names also have small translation errors, but I guess it doesn't matter too much. It's not like it's detrimental to gameplay or anything.
I'm trying to look what they translated it as in the fan translation of the game, though it's probably gonna stay the same.Oh, is this a reference? I didn't know. I just translated it from my crappy Japanese knowledge, if there is another official translation(I doubt it, judging from your post), we should use that instead.
I've seen Kaguya's, Eirin's and Reisen's not consume MP at the start of a turn, and the damage doesn't seem to change, so it might be buggedThat's what it's supposed to do. The translation for the description was wrong.
Oh, is this a reference? I didn't know. I just translated it from my crappy Japanese knowledge, if there is another official translation(I doubt it, judging from your post), we should use that instead. Its called Widenyo, but for anything that is not an official translation/localization, I would say we can use our own translation without problems.
That's what it's supposed to do. The translation for the description was wrong.I'll check it out again then
Fragment of mithril
The Transcendent subclass is still translated as Abilities Enhanced, and the item that unlocks the class is also translated this way.The Strategist's Inspiration Plan skill says it reduces the delay for all actions in game, but on the wiki, it says it reduces the rate at which buffs decay. Which is the correct translation?
I'd assume the one in game would be the correct one but I'm asking just to make sure.
Edit: Some testing indicates that there's no delay reduction but that may be just a bug.
Seems like it actually reduces the rate at which buffs decay.
Hmm... I do believe that item is called "Tokyo Metronome" ("東京メトロノーム"). By the way, is "Party Average Level" (The text) going to change or are we going to wait for a font to be decided, so that we can see our average level?
Its called Widenyo, but for anything that is not an official translation/localization, I would say we can use our own translation without problems.
Some skill names also have small translation errors, but I guess it doesn't matter too much. It's not like it's detrimental to gameplay or anything.
Capitalization? Got it.Abilites Enhanced is the exact translation for it, but Transcendant is shorter and fits what the subclass does, no special abilities, just increase in stats, and the term meaning "going beyond a (philosophical) concept or limit". So I think we should use that.
is "Transcendent" a good (and shorter) translation for this?
"Average Level" and "Highest Level"
We should use whatever Widenyo's fanpatch is using, for consistency.
It's still best to fix any errors if possible.
Regarding the skill notes, I'm not playing so I have no idea how accurate the discrepancies you mentioned are, or if they're issues in the original game or what.
Can someone confirm if I should be changing anything for these skills, and provide a fixed translation if so?
is "Transcendent" a good (and shorter) translation for this?I just went and compared the wiki with what we have for a partial translation. And like Kuilfrayt has said, Transcendent fits what the subclass does. Someone else has also mentioned this before which is why I brought it up again, thinking you may have missed it.
Can someone confirm if I should be changing anything for these skills, and provide a fixed translation if so?
Some of the discrepancies are listed on the wiki, but I don't know if that's all of them, you can also find more on the jp wiki, but even with that, they're may be others. The ones I pointed out were mistranslations.
I'll go back to some of the skills to see if some corrections are needed because I mistranslated them.
It would be preferable if there are files with the original Japanese.
"Average Level" and "Highest Level"
In what context is this shown? Because if I were to just see Highest Level, I may not know that it means Party Highest Level. They are shown on the character party screen. "Average level" on normal mode, "Highest level" on hard mode.
As I said, the description was translated wrong. The defense-ignoring part always works.スキル取得者に行動順が回ってきた際、75%の確率でMPが1減るようになる。
A 179 MAG Kaguya with the skill did around 260 damage to the 3F FOE when she used her MP and when she didn't use her MP.
A 179 MAG Kaguya without the skill did 0 damage.
I think it would be better if Reimu's 博麗の加護 and Sanae's 守矢の加護 had similar translations.New line to make Reimu and Sanae's skill translation more consistent.
2nd line of Strategist's Surprise Attack should be 'Each member on the front line will have a 20% chance of starting with their ATB set to 10000'
Diva's 蝸牛のダンス should be 'Dance of the Snail' or something like that.
Description for Yuka's Tormenting Nature (007E1398), it should be somthing similar to Suika's Free-Spirited and Uninhibited Oni.Tormenting Nature isnt like that, at least not to my understanding. She will deal additionnal damage to the enemy with the lowest hp regardless of their hp, while Suika deals more damage the lower the health of the enemy is. So Yuuka will not do more damage the more hp the enemy loses.
(Deals more damage the lower the enemy's HP is)
Description for Suika's Ibuki Gourd, (007E1BC0, 007E1B68), it should be made clearer that only one of the 6 effects occur each turn.
Description for Yukari's Boundaries of Injuries and Healing (007E1F44, 007E1F90), it should be [the average of her current HP and maximum HP]
Yukari's maximum HP, that is.
Yukari's 物理と魔力の境界 (007E20CC), I think 'Boundaries of Physical and Magical' might work better. Probably.
Iku's 羽衣は空の如く(007E29C8) was translated to 'Veils Like Sky' in th105. I still prefer Hagoromo to veil, though.
3rd line of description for Beatdown (007E4510), it should be
'MP recovery and stat increase doesn't change even if 2 or more enemies are defeated at the same time' (i.e. Doesn't stack)
Forgot to mention, Nazrin's Myouren Temple Personnel copies Hijiri's stats on the skill holder's turn. (007E4708)
Description for Team ⑨, it works similarly to other synergy skills (Stats Boosted per member, excluding self)
Current description makes it sound like the skill holder receives only (SLv*12)% only when all 4 members are present. (007E5138)
Cirno's 氷のお転婆娘, I think it should be Girl instead of Daughter. (007E64B8)
Momiji's 千里先まで見通す程度の能力 was translated to 'Ability to See a Thousand Ri Ahead' in her th10 profile. (007E56DC)
Kogasa's 人間を驚かす程度の能力 was translated to 'Ability to Surprise Humans' in her th12 profile. (007E6310)
Youmu's and Yuyuko's 冥界に住まう者, 冥界 is usually translated to Netherworld. (007E6DC8)
Edit:りりうむぱんつ is the japanese name. It can be panties, but the first part is lilium, so I went and used lilies because its the more common name for them and its not like the Robe of Roses, which was 薔薇のローブ, there is no の so no association of the nouns (the 's or "of" shouldn't apply here)
It seems like the item "Lilies Pant" should be Lily's Panties based on what I see on the wiki. Unless that's a mistake of course.
And is Regenerador's Heart supposed to be spelled that way?
There's a rock on 15F that says "Only those who worked 88 or more times may pass"
Is this an inconsistent translation? Or is it a different requirement from "Only those who possess X or more achievements may pass" (as I see engraved on other rocks)?
I'd say kinda inconsistent since you can't really tell what it means based on that translation. It means Create 88 items at Nitori's Workshop.I don't think its inconsistent because that's the way they said it in the japanese game. It's made to be a bit ambigious, kinda like "Only those who subdued all the spirits may pass" is not putting directly a name into the description, but you can still understand who you need to pass through.
As I said, the description was translated wrong. The defense-ignoring part always works.Or the text does match the original Japanese, just that it's bugged.
The official patch for EoSD puts her theme おてんば恋娘 as Beloved Tomboyish Daughter, so I would keep daughter
Or the text does match the original Japanese, just that it's bugged.
(スキル取得者に行動順が回ってきた際、75%の確率でMPが1減るようになる。攻撃時、敵の防御性能を90%減算してダメージ計算を行う。)
Or the text does match the original Japanese, just that it's bugged.
(スキル取得者に行動順が回ってきた際、75%の確率でMPが1減るようになる。攻撃時、敵の防御性能を90%減算してダメージ計算を行う。)
As the poster above said, from the way it is written, you shouldn't assume that the first condition has to happen in order for the second condition to happen. Those are 2 separate conditions.
First condition is 75% chance, with the effect of losing 1 MP. Second condition is an always true statement, with the effect of reducing enemy's defensive capabilities by 90%.
"At the beginning of the skill holder's turn, there is a 75% chance that MP will decrease by 1. When attacking, the enemy's defensive capabilities will be reduced by 90% during damage calculation."I guess I stand corrected then. Still, it's kind of weird for the two abilities to not be linked. I guess it's some sort of passive that costs an average 0.75MP per turn.
The way the Japanese has it written, it's like two seperate (non-interacting) effects on one skill.
Abilities that show up in a buff slot in battle have a really small amount of available space without kicking out the part where you see how strong it is. I can't tell how strong Fighting Spirit or Kudoku Queen are... although I do wonder if Kudoku Queen even gives any useful knowledge or if it just says like, "lv1". I wouldn't know :VKudoku Queen would just say its current level, which is the amount of allies and enemies poisoned. Not sure about Fighting Spirit but I think that one is also just levels by counting the amount of times its stacked.
Please send pending changes, etc.
I'm going to wait at least a day before updating the trans files though, just in case he posts another patch soon after like last time.
The menus related to Level-Up Bonuses have small bugs, so I expect a 1.151 patch within the next 24 hours.
Small was quite a understatement.
Using the 'Unify Party Level' doesn't change the skill points and level-up bonuses properly.
Which means repeating 'Unify Party Level' : Lv. 1 and 'Level Up Everyone' will net you gratuitous amounts of skill points and level-up bonuses.
Description for Hoshiguma Dish, it should be '2 or more' instead of 'more than 2'. (007E187C)
Description for Therapeutic Limit Breakthrough (007E2818),
the original description says 'equal to or less than'(以下), which actually doesn't match up with what the skill still does.
quick, make a video of a single lv 1 character beating the final boss! Not really impressive when there's a whole section in the wiki about how to cheat already. People could easily just edit character values and be done with it.

Should I change Therapeutic Limit Breakthrough , and if so, to what?
What parts still need translating?Pretty much anything that is dialogues, there's a few achievement flavor texts left, and Sub Equip, but Regal is working on that last one already.
Most of the lines seem to be going juuust a little off the side of the box, is there something I should be doing to avert that? It's like that for everyone, I think. It will probably get fixed on the final, proper patch.
It's like that for everyone, I think. It will probably get fixed on the final, proper patch.Yes its like that for everyone. The focus has been getting the translations done and in the place they should be. They'll touch up the translations and adjust the ones that run outside the box in a final patch whenever that may be. I think skill names and item descriptions are the most guilty of running outside the box at this point.
I could be wrong though.
Any reason why the 1.151 patch qazmlpok/bane posted isn't in the OP yet? Is that one still not "final"?There is some lines that are missing right now because they were changed, plus there is some new menu options, so I'll wait to update the OP once it's going to be mostly fixed.

Done using find/replace. I noticed some of the other corrections still had PHYS.
saying its an homosexual erotic movieIn any case, I might be completely wrong with that, because I haven't really been able to find anything about the reference.
I was wondering about this for awhile but why aren't the Main Classes translated?I have 20 points on it for Marisa; No idea what it is though.
[attach=1]
Also what does the stat underneath the number of skill points mean? I've looked at all the character's I've used and its 0 for all of them.
It's how many Training Manuals you've used on the character.Ah okay, that makes sense then. I've never used a training manual on anybody so that's why everybody has 0 for that stat.
There's a rock on 20F that says "Only those who possess 2 400 000 or more money may pass".
I only have 307 126 money but I can get past the rock, so isn't it 240 000, instead of 2 400 000 ?

Defeat 30 FOEs achievement lists this as the Tokyo Metronome, but the name as an item is in japanese
don't die plsIt's not dead, it's just that me and Regal have been very busy with other stuff, so there's not been much progress. I'm on break this week, so I'll be able to release something. Progress is going to be slow because the two of us aren't native japanese speaker, so we have to learn the language before translating that much.
Also Achievement 61 is titled Mariage Proposal and should be Marriage Proposal.Blame my french on that one
I'm not Regal, but I can definitely tell you that 水鏡の刻印 is Mizukagami's Seal, not Mikagami's Seal. Of course, I'm not fluent in Japanese, I just recognize the first kanji as "mizu," (water) not "mi".Nvm, it's read as Mikagami when used in names, like with Mikagami Hikari (水鏡秤) from Ace Attorney and Mikagami Tokiya (水鏡凍季也) from Flame of Recca, just to name a few.
At the very least, if it is possible, could you guys release the current patch? That way, at the very least, some of the bugs from the previous patch have been fixed. You mean typos? I don't recall there being bugs in the translation patches...
You mean typos? I don't recall there being bugs in the translation patches...
Well, anything important that may have been changed.
I think all the skills use male pronouns, for whatever reason.I used to put male pronouns because the skill descriptions had "skill user" and no name in them, so I generalized as male because that's how I was taught. Most of them should've been changed to female pronouns though, but some slipped from my corrections I guess.
They'll likely release it when they're ready. Just be patient.Imo, the most likely time we'll see the next patch is either when we have enough translated parts to be worth the trouble of making another patch, or when the next game patch comes out. There's no point making a patch for every small corrections we find. (this all depends on qaz time for making patches, so don't quote me on that)
Patch 1.2 is now out of the main website (mf link if the one on their site has too much traffic (http://www.mediafire.com/download/maeo1wus9un7e9f/THL2_1200patch.zip))
Time to start everything over again, yay
Checked with an IRC translator; 水鏡の刻印 is "Mizukagami's seal".I was wondering about that, I kept it Mikagami's Seal as well because 水鏡 cause be used as a family name and is read as Mikagami and not Mi*zu*kagami in those cases. (Hakari Mikagami from Ace Attorney and Tokiya Mikagami from Flames of Recca). I guess it can also be read as Shuijing, but that's from a Chinese hermit, so that doesn't really apply here.
Gonna wait a bit longer before posting files, since the 01 patch just came out.
also, are there any major outstanding bugs on the latest version? Can I expect another official patch "soon"?"Soon"? Probably not, we just got 2 of them for fixes now, and I can't see anything flagrant in the current one (they fixed most of the issues I encountered with characters and dungeons). Maybe give it another week, just to be sure, but I don't think we'll see anymore big ones anytime soon.

Here's the updated exe. There's still untranslated stuff, but I'm assuming that's expected. Can you confirm that everything's as it should be?
I'll see if I can update to the latest version today, but I need to try and build my new computer today, and that takes priority.
@Leerius
are all of your changes (including the ones you sent via PM) for the latest patch? I can't find anything you mentioned in the string dump.
1.203 is out, just making sure in case people didn't check the other thread.
They changed the problem with overflow EXP that people were talking about (after reaching lvl 900+) and I think they tweaked some events that required a certain amount of BPs
I don't remember if I've mentioned this before but the Strategist's Inspiration Plan ability is incorrectly translated according to the wiki. It reduces the rate at which buffs decay, instead of reducing the delay for all actions.
That's abit disappointing, since there is a green exclamation mark that is currently unreachable near the top right part of 9F extra area.Yea I saw that, I don't know what they plan to do with this, maybe another expansion/extra patch?

It's showing up as reduces the rate at which buffs decay for me and after checking the history, this was corrected quite a long time ago.
There might be a lot of changes from the two patches that weren't documented or changed yet on the wiki, we'll do the changes on the wiki once the new patch comes outI'm basing my observation off of the most recent patch qazmlpok released which was all the revisions done for version 1.151
The stuff Leerius posted on this thread are already translated, it was for the Jewel of Greater Awakening and the achievement to get 12 Stones of Awakening, so there's nothing to add with that. (if there's any changes in those, it's because of the new patch, and if it's that, that's to be expected, there's a lot of things we'll need to correct anyway, like with every new patches.)Got these.

The Hakurei's Shrine Level Unification crashed when I try to use it.Unable to reproduce. Worked fine for me.
It's also missing the stuff I sent you when the patch came out (I don't know if that was intended and you just wanted to add it in the next patch only, or just forgot to put them in this patch)
...probably not intentional. Could you post it again so I know what you're talking about?

"Assault Beacon" should be "Charge", as per LoT1....does it really have the same name as it did in LoT1 in japanese? I don't have the time to check right now, but it doesn't -seem- like it'd be likely for those translations to both be from the same thing...

I've gotten two crashes so far with the patch:Not sure what is causing the Level Unification bug, because the lines shouldn't have changed from the previous patch, and it was working fine there.
1- Using the Level Unification crashes the game.
2- Attempting the 1F Chen event causes the game to crash, probably because of something with the lines there.
I've gotten two crashes so far with the patch:
1- Using the Level Unification crashes the game.
2- Attempting the 1F Chen event causes the game to crash, probably because of something with the lines there.
Can I get screenshots of these crashes, especially any related lines before/during the crash? I tried unification and it worked fine for me.http://imgur.com/a/QWHRY
For Chen, I'll need more than just 008DFB80. Something like that is definitely shared across multiple locations. Can anyone find the original Japanese text (or English text of when it used to work, assuming it ever did)?I think it's the first time we put the english text.
0080E820: Just now? Wasn't that the shikigami of the shikigami @of that purple one, Chen? That was her, right?@What's that girl doing?
<Marisa> 今のは??@紫んとこの式の式の、橙とか言ったっけ? 多分橙だったぞ。@何してるんだアイツ?
I'm pretty sure you guys know about this already, but just saying just for the heck of it; I went to look at that last file kuilfrayt posted, and:It's been some time since I've translated that part so I don't really remember what my choices were in that translation, it's either:Code: [Select]0080E820: Just now? <Marisa> 今のは??@紫んとこの式の式の、橙とか言ったっけ? 多分橙だったぞ。@何してるんだアイツ?
Isn't the translation supposed to be:
"Just now? Wasn't that the shikigami of the shikigami @of Yukari, Chen? That was her, right?@What's that girl doing?"
紫 means purple indeed, but it is also the character for Yukari's name. But you guys should already know that, so I guess I'll shut up now *whistles*
Uwehh... I get this error when I encounter Kogasa. http://prntscr.com/2db5keI don't believe anyone else has encountered this, so I can only assume sometime went wrong with the patching process.
Does anyone else have this problem? Or did I do something wrong?
I don't believe anyone else has encountered this, so I can only assume sometime went wrong with the patching process. What do I have to do exactly? I mean, when it comes to installing the (current) english patch.
It's been some time since I've translated that part so I don't really remember what my choices were in that translation, it's either:
A) I went through it quickly and didn't realize it was supposed to be Yukari, or
B) I purposely decided to use that purple one instead of Yukari.
But looking at it right now, I would say it's probably better to use Yukari instead
What do I have to do exactly? I mean, when it comes to installing the (current) english patch. This error is probably because something went wrong when I wrote the lines themselves (forgot a space, added one too many, forgot to use @, etc). There's nothing to do with it right now. The only way to get past it is to play that part in japanese and then go back to english once the event is completed. You'll need to wait for the next patches from us to have this fixed.

https://www.mediafire.com/?iin755e30ef7bxvI noticed that the exe in the link you posted has the same date modified as the last 1.203 patch you posted.
Should have gotten all of the updates, including the 1151 stuff I missed.
I'm seeing a lot of partially translated sentences. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they were the cause of the crashes I've been hearing about. I doubt the engine actually supports mixed English and Japanese.
Minor typo in Alice's spell card descriptions for Artful Sacrifice and Little LegionThe lines are
"Special spell that uses the casters MAG agains the enemy's DEF."
as well as Kanako's Mad Dance on Medoteko and Misayama Hunting Ritual
"It is a Magic Attack, but its damage is calculated agains the enemy's DEF."
Should be "against"
I noticed that the exe in the link you posted has the same date modified as the last 1.203 patch you posted. You're right, it's not the right one, the intro didn't crash. I'll fix the english/japanese mixed-up lines by the end of the weekend
Just wanted to say this to make sure that you didn't accidentally upload the wrong file or something.
I'm seeing a lot of partially translated sentences. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they were the cause of the crashes I've been hearing about. I doubt the engine actually supports mixed English and Japanese. It's most likely that, though sometimes, it still works, though a bit weirdly. This line in the intro, for example:
Another thing, a minor one, a lot of subclass skills/spells end up with a ・ at the end of their names. It's caused by having a long space after the line so I've just modified them and included them into this file. It also inclues the new equipment and new enemies and all the corrections that were needed for stuff that changed and wasn't carried out from 1.151 to 1.203 https://www.mediafire.com/?39m6872moli3372
Another thing I came across is that some dialogue windows have more lines (read here "more @") than they had in the original, and it didn't seem to cause problems, so do you think we would be able to spread our translation with additional lines like that too?
For example:
0087DCA8: 現れた原因も定かではないこの樹木は、魔法の森に突如生起した後@幻想郷の日の光を遮りながら今も少しずつ成長し、@辺り一帯にほの暗い帳を降ろし続けている。 (original)
0087DCA8: 現れた原因も定かではないこの樹木は、魔・@の森に突・@生起した後@幻想郷の日の光を遮りながら今も少しずつ成長し、@辺り一帯にほの暗い帳を降ろし続けている。 (eng patch)
Both the in-game images can be found in this link (http://imgur.com/TsWAj1d,qxFvqTP)
It's not the only one I saw, but this one shows the difference it very well

Just took a quick look and noticed that Melody was typo'd as Medoly.
Also noticed that some of the skill descriptions still had male pronouns.
It was easier just to edit them myself and reupload.

Are these all new lines/changes or what? The first part is just corrections from Subclass skills
Also, for those worried about it, the translation project is not dead, I'm still working on it, just at a slower pace (translation for school > translation for this project)Figured I'd post this here in case anyone thought the project was dead.
excuse me sir ...It stands for Skill Levels
can i ask what is SLv means?
i'm kinda confused here ...
sorry for the stupid question
Hey folks,
Occasionally in this thread, somebody refers to the "other thread", where patch information is. Since I'm a shameless noob of noobliness, anybody mind sharing a link to this other thread?
Thanks,

This is more of a technical question than anything else, really, and largely because I've been experimenting with something in order to attempt implementing the last series of changes to 1.203 (which so far have not been implemented), but in terms of swapping out the strings in the .exe, is mauve's pe_text_change used or is it a custom program? And if it is mauve's program, how exactly do you go about making a proper script file for that to replace the text? I've been trying to figure out how to get it to work by replacing the string for going to the 16F extra area, but this:I'm pretty sure Qaz uses his own tools, but you can always ask him in a PM.Code: [Select]0x008E17F8

...doesn't work. Anyone know how to get this to work properly?
http://pastebin.com/njXbs5y3 Here is the introduction fully translated. It was completed some time ago, I was just waiting for it to be corrected by my teacher.
The string numbers should be the ones from 1.203.
I'm fairly certain of the meaning of all of it, except for 0087C950 and 0087C8C8.
Also, I would like for you people to check it over, not for the meaning, but to make sure it feels natural. My native language isn't English, and the person I asked to correct me translated from JP to French, so I had to translate it back into EN, so some stuff may sound weird and unnatural. I would really appreciate if anyone could do a quick check-up on it.
0087C934, 0087CB94, 0087CDF4, 0087CED0, 0087D050, 0087D0FC, 0087D328, 0087D528, 0087D6E0, 0087D7D8, 0087DA28, 0087DAF8, 0087DE48, 0087E00C, 0087E294, 0087E3EC and 0087E62C are not part of the introduction, but they were mixed in it in the string dump, so you can pay them no mind. (basically, any text that don't have a <Person> with it is not in the introduction)
i see, i also read about some skills not working (i think momiji has one). not sure if its an error from the game itself or something. and yeah having descriptions untranslated is more annoying, having to open the wiki to know what to do
Updated files and exe.

This includes Deranged's proofread version of the opening, and the stuff in "new stuff for 1.203.txt".
There's a lot of text overflow in the opening, but whatever. That can be fixed later.
Also, Deranged: There's a google doc spreadsheet for coordinating specific changes, e.g. for keeping terminology consistent, and for compiling a list of the references in the game.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AiaAy3nPKPx2dDhOLUh5Vmk2N1VUYkxJZlI1d2xRMGc&usp=drive_web#gid=2
Looking at that opening... yeesh, another game without a fixed-width font. Oh well, at least there's generally plenty of space.Huh. I thought it was fixed width. Most things seem to take up about the same amount of space.

They translated it to OPART. The Katakana for o is elongated by the line which makes me feel odd about it along with the fact that OOPART stands for Out of Place Artifact. I suppose it doesn't matter.
Anyways, thanks for your hard work.

This is the last page of the Sub Items, I'll put it out hopefully before you start them, or start proofreading the other items. It's missing a few, I couldn't understand them all. The references on them should be good, other than the Angel Ring that I have no clue where it comes from.
It also has a few lines at the end from other previous items.
Sorry but where is this "new stuff for 1.203.txt. Was it supposed to be included in that rar file? cuz it's not:It's added to the patch, the changes just weren't added to their respective txt files

For the Cee-lo one, do we want to take Cee-lo or Chinchirorin, since Chinchirorin is the name of the game in the manga; it's derived from Cee-lo, but with it's own differences. In any case, it should be "XX Customized Dice"
Also, Deranged,
00870CA0: it can't be removed until after, forcefully. And it still remains at 1 DEF.
00870D00: You need it to enter that Heaven-like place you'll never want to leave, and
Might just be me, but "and it can't be removed until after, forcefully" sounds kinda weird
The descriptions of each location in the main Gensokyo page are especially tricky. I don't know if what I did would help, but it can't hurt to try...I recalled that they used to fit in the previous versions (before 1.200), or somewhat fit so that we could see everything.
Probably got mixed up and confused after spending 20-30 minutes looking up references in obscure JP pages (which happened distressingly often with items.txt).Talking about references, I thought I was doing pretty well at finding them, but you just blew me out of the water with what you were able to dig out. I'm still amazed at what you've found for the princess in Bahamut Lagoon O.o

I should be able to shift text around, e.g. move it to the left, but that's something that'll have to wait until the game isn't being patched anymore. Otherwise I'd have to re-do everything each time 3peso makes a new patch. And we're definitely going to be a lot of patches for the new expansion.
Ahh, okay. I'll stop using my wholly inelegant attempts to fix those then (SPACES, EVERYWHERE), and remove them from the text files when there's enough content for another update.
https://www.mediafire.com/?cjftm67s5nc2s9jI can't think of any reasons why I was using the JP quotes, I guess its because they looked cooler? Who knows.
Updated files. Includes a dialogue dump that's probably more accurate. Got rid of some ellipsis characters as well. Is there any reason we're using Japanese quotes?
What, does that actually work? And pushes text to the left? That's probably a better solution, then, since it won't break every time a new patch comes out.
I have no idea if it works (and can't test the new exe right now to confirm). I just noticed that those strings were overflowing to the right when I started, so I made the descriptions smaller to compensate, but this seemed to push the starting location of the string further right instead (though this was just from eyeballling). So I was checking if the opposite was true by adding ~5 spaces at the end of each of those strings. You might be in a better position to test whether it works yourself - add 30+ spaces and see if it has any effect.
So it does. Finally got around to testing it.
Tons of right-padding yields: http://i.imgur.com/OgeP8Fb.png
left-padding seems not do anything, so I'm guessing it's just right-aligned. However, that should mean that text just wouldn't fall out in the first place.
Cool. I'll leave it to you to figure out how much spaces are needed to fit the strings well, since you can test it directly - those explanation strings likely won't change in further updates.I'm about 2 events left to finish up everything on 1F (at least, should be everything). I'm still working on it, it just takes a while, sorry >.<. I don't think we have any other translator other than you and me right now.
By the way, the most recent exe you uploaded still doesn't seem to incorporate most of the changes I made to the files - might wanna double-check it. Regardless, here (http://www.datafilehost.com/d/a686fe73) are some more updated files, including some changes that were discussed on the spreadsheet, QCing and wordwrapping of existing dialogue at the start of the game, and translation of a few scenes that were left in Japanese at the start.
Kuilfrayt: Still need to confirm with you, are you (or anyone else) actively working on translating any dialogue (or anything else) in the game right now? I'm basically translating/QCing by going through the game from the start and triggering all the scenes and checking from there; if you've already done some, it'll be best not to waste time working on the same things.
Kuil: I prefer consistency with LoT1 when it's not absolutely wrong (e.g. mistranslation or a missed reference). So it should be Moreya, since that's what it is in both 1 and MoF (IIRC). Throwing atlas, a quick wikipedia search shows that Ame-no-Tajikarao is associated with physical strength, but not actually holding up the world. It is, however, a lot shorter and clearer to use "Atlas".Iai Slash was how the move was translated in the first game.
Flashing Decapitation
Spoke with an IRC translator about this.
斬 while 'cut' is usually a fatal cut or something that would take a limb off. rather than surface cuts.
He confirmed that it's not Iai at all, so I dunno why that's in there. Just embellishment, or something. My suggestion would be "Flash Sever" or something; unless the move inflicts DTH (I'm not playing it so I have no idea), 'decapitation' seems out of place.
Can't really comment on anything else.
Iai Slash was how the move was translated in the first game. I haven't patched LoT1 with the recent patch you released for it yet, so maybe you corrected it already qaz.I did not, because I didn't know it was wrong.
I'm about 2 events left to finish up everything on 1F (at least, should be everything). I'm still working on it, it just takes a while, sorry >.<. I don't think we have any other translator other than you and me right now.
I'll send you what I have done, there's some sentence I haven't been able to translate, and you might want to just do a check over it like you did with the intro, just to be sure I haven't done anything completely wrong >.> (I'll send you a pm once I've done my revision on it)

00853210: Iai SlashIt was actually Iai Slash already when I started on it, heh. Looking at it more into detail, something like Severing Flash would probably be most accurate.
Any reason for the change of Flashing Decapitation? I'm pretty sure the skill name wasn't too long, and it's very far from meaning Iai
0085372C: Silent Preparation
008693F8: Desert Weapon - Silver Song
Why Song? Isn't 鎧 armor?
Unless there's some compelling reason not to, standard quotation marks.
Deranged: Changes not appearing how? Untranslated or unchanged from the previous version? Could I get an example?
Is there a reason I'm seeing both Kusanagi and Kusunagi? In current files:
enemyAttacks.txt:008D9F8C: Kusanagi Slash
items.txt:0086EEE0: One of Marisa's Hakkero's materials. Probably also the Kusanagi's, too.
characterSkills.txt:0085DF88: Kusunagi's Former Owner
items.txt:00871148: also called the Kusunagi. After Susanoo offered it to Amaterasu, it passed
Okay, so:?
0085F788: Soothing Type?
008507B8: Nimble
00853210: Severing Flash (I like that more than just 'Issen')
008D9F8C: Ame-no-Murakumo Slash
0085372C: Silent Melody
008693F8: Desert Weapon - Silver Mail
Any other changes? I haven't run the latest txt files yet.
Since Money is the name of the currency, I'll use uppercase for it
Is it? Is it actually used in a way that makes it seem like a specific name and not just really generic?Well, it probably is just generic, and even if it was specific, when I think about it, I don't use uppercase with currency (I write "100 dollars", not "100 Dollars").
Well, it probably is just generic, and even if it was specific, when I think about it, I don't use uppercase with currency (I write "100 dollars", not "100 Dollars").
It's a bit late, but would "coin" work better instead for it? Since money isn't really the name of the currency, it's just to show the amount of what we have, and "coin" would a lot more tangible. Otherwise, we'll just continue with "money".
On another note, I wanted to know, can we add additional linebreakers in the dialogue (the @ to separate lines) or will it cause problems? Just to know if we need tocondense the text as much as possible or we can have some leeway.
0087B698: A large rock blocks the pass. @"Only those who have defeated 6 Formidable Enemies'@Shadow may pass" is engraved on it.I guess my gramar was wrong. In my head, since you only have 1 shadow per enemy, it shouldn't be plural, but I must've been wrong there. You can change it to "Shadows"
(etc)
Shouldn't the plural be "6 Formidable Enemies' Shadows"?
is that something that's already been done and just not added to the main download yet?Actually, it's in the latest patch release, it's just that the OP has not been updated with it yet. So yes, all the cleaning has already been done. There is the matter of all the dialogue that hasn't been translated yet, but I wouldn't know whether Deranged is going to be cleaning that himself as he goes or not.
Actually, it's in the latest patch release, it's just that the OP has not been updated with it yet.OP updated.
So yes, all the cleaning has already been done. There is the matter of all the dialogue that hasn't been translated yet, but I wouldn't know whether Deranged is going to be cleaning that himself as he goes or not.We do the cleaning when translating and qc'ing.
Also, I haven't looked at it yet, but I should be able to add a new line to any skill that isn't already four lines long. This is one of those things that would need to be done at the end of the project though, after all official patches are done (as well as we can foresee, anyway). But if something is only 3 lines long, leaving a ton of overflowing text is fine, and I can just fix it much later.Could that work as well for items description too?

0085F868: The more party members fall in battle, the more the user's stats increase.
-The revision seems like it has a slightly different meaning, but I think I'd need to know exactly how this skill works to be certain.
The skill works like this: When a party member falls in battle, the user gets a buff to all stats. If you're talking about Last Fortress, this translation would be misleading. The more fallen party members there are, the higher the user's stats are raised by the passive. This translation just sounds like Reimu's main character passive where she gets buffed (similar to a buff spell, not a special separate increase like Last Fort) when someone dies, which isn't the case here.
Phrasing it exactly like that might be clearest?
008E0CF8: %sのキャラリセットに、転生の書物を使用しますか?I would translate it as "Do you wish to use a Tome of Reincarnation for a Character Reset on %s", but before that option, since you are asked: "Performing a character reset for %s.", I think we can just leave it at what it is, unless it causes a problem. If so, we can put "Do you wish to use a Tome of Reincarnation on %s?"
008E0CF8: Do you wish to use a Tome of Reincarnation?
This line is missing a %s in the translation. Google translate suggests "Use a tome of reincarnation on %s?"
Could someone please confirm?
That should fix all of the mismatched arguments. The code I have isn't perfect, but I don't think the game uses the printf modifiers anyway.
really can't wait to play :p i just can't play a game without story. Hope it will be done soon :pp
not sure why it's fun to beat the 30F boss over and over, but it is. Maybe I've got a problem... :wat:Because he was so hard and required more grinding than the others :P
The Japanese wiki mentions that evasion was removed because characters with massive evasion can even dodge buffs and heals from allies.
Although I can't really verify whether this is true or not.
if this is true then the problem is bad programming...Nah, they're just lazy. They could have just increased the accuracy of the healing and buffing spells, like the folks that made Disgaea did. Not the easiest thing to do, but they've done harder things, I believe... Although I have heard from people that LoT programmers don't do the best programming, indeed...
...is there any reason CharacterAttacks was moved out of CharacterSkills?
why 1F-3? Is that a revision number, meaning I can delete the -3?

and a heads up - right now, all of the extra information in the story files, e.g. the section headers, original translations, translator comments, and even the order of the lines, will be lost when I port the script files over to the next version. All that script does is find the actual text lines and copy those over with updated addresses.Yea, I don't think they will be necessary after this, and we can keep the previous versions anyway if we have anything we want to check.
Is it necessary to keep those? The extra stuff is mostly there in the story files, and those are the ones I expect to change the least. (The addresses will change, of course, but I don't think the contents will)
I'll come up with a script to do it. Don't try to do it manually. At least not for the dialogue, since that's the easiest to fix.I'm pretty sure it's the full-width font. From what I can see, the max amount is 56, but I don't think you'll need to make a script, Deranged created one that was putting the linebreakers at 59, I would think it can be modified to make it at 56 instead
Although I will need an exact number of characters to use. Is that the full-width font?
Based on the latest files qaz posted, I ran my script again on the story files at a tolerance of 56 chars per line. The following two lines became 6-line strings based on that, I did a quick fix to them as follows:For those two sentences, would it be better instead to split them with the one previous/after? It would look like this
0087E340: The rainy season was at its end, and the blistering heat@was flickering as the early summer season began. Yet, the @main street was bereft of residents and the liveliness@they brought. The whole village was wrapped in a chilling @atmosphere unbefitting of the current season.

For those two sentences, would it be better instead to split them with the one previous/after? It would look like this

Up to you
@Deranged
Well, my script is pretty simple. The task itself is trivial - the @ sign always has to be on the odd byte since the beginning/the last @. This is because it reads in 2 bytes at a time for most situations, so if the @ isn't the first character in the set of 2, it reads it in along with the previous character and displays it in-game.
It's Python. So if your script is python too, it'll probably be possible to just dump it in.
Full thing: http://pastebin.com/nFftHvhZ
Nope, not working.
For example,
Yours:
008858C0: Reimu and Marisa are, how do I put this... Extremely@experienced with incidents... Their perspective is much@different from ours...
Mine:
008858C0: Reimu and Marisa are, how do I put this... Extremely@experienced with incidents... Their perspective is much @different from ours...
There should be a space after "much" - "experienced with incidents... Their perspective is much" is 55 characters, so the @ will be on the 56th character, which is even.
It looks like you never added extra spaces where they don't belong, so I'm guessing it's just a looping issue, i.e. you aren't accounting for any @ after the first one. It needs to handle every block; from the start to the first @, between each pair of @s, and from the last @ to the end of the string.
it's just me that opens chrome and come to this page every 10mins to check if the new exe is up?
Also since the enemy attacks file doesn't have the new moves from the deformed bosses, I've translated them here:The Super Mario RPG attacks would probably all belong to the 16F extra boss or one of its crystals, since that boss (in appearance) is pretty much exactly Culex from said game. Hope that helps.

uh, you really shouldn't expect a new exe until Deranged delivers another block of translations. Which will probably be a while.oh, does this mean that the next exe will contain 12 -21F translations as well? that'd be awesome

Yes - as far as I know, the only 17F event with unique dialogue is in postgame.
the linebreaks are not working
Are the @s showing up in the window, or are they just not being ignored? They are ignored (http://imgur.com/slkCkfK)
oh boy. That's really weird. There's nothing wrong that I can see with the line, and the original Japanese has @s too. I assume they work correctly there. That's pretty much the first one I can think of. The crash happens even if it's not on a line that had linebreaks (the first line of dialogue is just a "......" (http://imgur.com/WADFDaQ) and it can crash as well). It works fine on the other bosses of 20F. Postgame looks fine too.
Hmm. Try closing out of the game, going back there, and find the first instance where the @s are ignored, and screenshot that. Unless that is one. The only thing I can think of is that some other line is broken and corrupting the dialogue. Somehow. It's a stretch, but I don't have any other ideas.
Found a minor little untranslated line on 1F, hope this helps:

Let me know if the link doesn't work, the line is in the first dialogue with Youmu.
i decided to go ahead and use the in works version, and i noticed that as well. i imagine it just means something like ohoho~Yes, we're not even trying to make descriptions and such fit, not until the expansion is out and patches are done.
also keine's sturdy defense skill description still goes off screen. (i think its that skill anyway, defiantly one of her skills)
@Qaz
I've done some of the images. If you can spare the time, can you try and make an exe with the following image files and see if it works correctly?
http://www.datafilehost.com/d/9a6f73b1 (http://www.datafilehost.com/d/9a6f73b1)
Result01 is a completely transparent image on purpose. Based on how it's used in the end-of-battle screen, I figured that's the best way to handle it.
Additionally, was the image extraction done based on an older version? There seems to be a fair amount of images which I suspect are unused, and a few which should be there that I can't find (e.g. The Z-key image for Check Status -> Character Skill Information and Character Misc. Information)
Images are in img1.dxa and img2.dxa. img1 never changes with new versions, since 3peso doesn't know how to do diffs. img2 does change, but I'm pretty sure it hasn't been updated for the last couple of patches.
It is perfectly possible that images aren't being used. 3peso probably wouldn't ever remove them (and can't from img1)
Here's img1.

Using the english translation patch I used from page 1, for Patch 1.203, I came across an oddity.
Text seems to go off the side of the screen if a sentence is long enough, cutting off everything after that point. http://i.imgur.com/i8fTwpE.png shows it.
Is this me messing something up? Or just part of how the patch is? If this is normal, then, okay, I can live with it. :) If I messed up... :ohdear: Help on fixing would be well loved :)
Using the english translation patch I used from page 1, for Patch 1.203, I came across an oddity. Are you using japanese locale? The patch is balanced for the fixed-width font, which should be used in jap locale- they had previously not even realized there was two different ones.

Going through the intro, one dumb nitpick.
The first visit to the Hakurei shrine, Reimu says "What are you trying to say." Needs a question mark.
I'll collect these dumb nitpicks in a local file and post a list (when it becomes one), just want to make sure this qualifies as legitimate feedback, and not annoying banter.
Thanks,
Veto
I'm still getting linebreak issues for the dialogue just before the final boss, and all of the ending dialogue. The @'s are in the text files, but they're not doing their job, and don't even show up in the in-game text to let me know they failed to do their job.
There was also a brief instance after I applied the story translation patch, where the game crashed after the first instance of overflowed dialogue. Restarted the game, both normally and using GameBooster, and the error didn't show up again. I guess it was just a slight hiccup in the patching.
Okay, i download the older one (1.151) and menus and stuff are translated, Story still in japanese, yet what the lastest one does? the 1.203 that is over 150MB?The latest one has all the story and stuff translated, formatted for length, etc. - there's still a few minor edits to be done however.
My findings thus far, through 4F:I think you should compile your findings instead of posting them so early on. The patch makers have made it clear that the next translation patch will be after Plus Disk gets released.

Overall, very satisfied with the translation quality. Thanks, I'll keep the feedback coming as I progress.

I think you should compile your findings instead of posting them so early on. The patch makers have made it clear that the next translation patch will be after Plus Disk gets released.
It'd be better for everyone to just stuff things into a notepad or something and post it once the Plus Disk comes out rather than unnecessarily "spamming" the thread.
If it's not too much of a hassle, since everyone is waiting for the next expansion/plus disk, could it be possible to edit the touhouwiki article for the game? It's using a lot of terms from the pre-patch time, so there's kinda of a big difference in a lot of the translations.I really love the Touhou fandom, because honestly we've accomplished some great things. There's countless fangames along with the official ones out there that we would not be able to enjoy if people didn't volunteer their time and effort into translating them.
Good work with on the English patch. Unfortunately, I seem to be having a bit of a brain fart with patching into English. Which link was it and do I just unzip the contents of the downloaded file into the game folder?1. Patch the game to the latest version. (1.203 as of now, and the download link for the patch is here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,16042.0.html) under "LoT 2 Patches and Other Downloads")

The majority of this text is repitition from the previous line. c/p error, I'm guessing.
For this one though, I have no clue what went wrong here. In the text files included with the exe at least, the affected line (008C8620) seems fine. Did something go wrong during the string replacement process?
Odd number of characters on the line. It needs another space at the end.
I've went through the game, and made a list of all changes I've made to the text files here (http://pastebin.com/7w089Xji). It also contains fixes for all the typos and changes posted here (I think).Oh boy I have a time limit to finish my third run of the game now (not really, I just want to go through the game looking for typos myself).
For anyone who's been compiling lists of typos but not posted them yet, please check if they are in this list. If they aren't please post them within a week's time, which is when I plan to finalize the changes as well as fix the images, and release hopefully the final patch before plus disk.
(There's obviously spoilers in the above link, so don't read too far it if you haven't finished the game and care about the story)

http://i.imgur.com/5nNrEGc.png
If you keep clicking on ignore you can get past that while the flashing animation plays sloooowly, I think.
I think that may be due to the string for the line (0087B23C) having an odd number of characters on the line. 21F I believe also has a similar problem. Qaz, able to confirm?
In floor 10f when speaking to suwako she says
"...ahh, whatever. By the way Sanae, blah blah
We're having a competition to see who can defeat an FOE on this floor first".
Yeah, FOE is supposed to be a contraction (Field-On Enemy in the original Japanese, I forget what it was in English, it was some Latin-sounding thing), so it would make more sense for it to be "eff oh ee." At least that's how I've always pronounced it.

I'm really not sure what to think of Mokou's response to Reimu's question. My initial response when I saw that line was that "Yeah?" should have just been "Yeah." but then thinking about it, it really doesn't sound right OR make much sense.

008E28E4: Conditions: Acquire 10,000 Money in a single dungeon diveWhy is the 'm' in "money" not capitalized when its capitalized in all the images and capitalized in the description of Violent Green Rupee? If you end up deciding to capitalize the 'm' in "money" then this line should be given the same treatment as well:
008E28E4: Conditions: Acquire 10,000 money in a single dungeon dive
008DFAB4: parameters with money.
"And if we have the time, let's go see Suwako get mad." The phrase and the prospect of seeing someone "getting mad" sound weird to me. There's other similar instances where "getting" was used instead of "get" but I'll post those later after I've gone through your changelog.I don?t see anything grammatically incorrect about the phrase ?getting mad?, like watching someone ?becoming angry?. I think ?get mad? implies it happening all at once, while ?getting mad? feels like it would be more gradual. I can?t rightly say if one is more correct than the other, however. I do feel that a word other than mad would be more appropriate. Imagining Kanako the War Goddess saying ?getting mad? like a gradeschooler teasing a smaller kid doesn?t really fit to me. But then maybe that?s basically what?s happening with this scene.
"for this item, certain dungeons and certain allies were plain cruel. And the"Here I do believe you?re actually incorrect. Looking at the whole sentence:
Making that a condition for this item, certain dungeons and certain allies was plain cruel.the verb ?was? is specifically referring to the word ?condition?, not ?allies?. Removing unnecessary parts, it would be ?Making that a condition was plain cruel.? The word ?condition? decides whether ?to be? is singular or plural, not ?allies?. The only thing that might be necessary is adding a comma after ?allies,? and maybe after ?dungeons? as well.
QuoteI was confused by this as well, but after thinking about it, I think the description is referring to the fact a Guardian is best placed in the leftmost slot, which of course is the one most likely to be hit. According to how the characters describe the lineup in game, looking at it 3 dimensionally, the leftmost slot is closest to enemies, while the rightmost slot is the furthest from them. I think the description is more referencing basic game mechanics than anything the Guardian can intentionally do. It is strange wording though.
008E0C8C: This subclass excels at taking damage and shielding the party. It possesses
008E0C54: skills that provoke foes into attacking this character,
008E0C18: as well as reducing the amount of damage taken.
This is the description for the Guardian subclass but none of the skills have anything to do with taking enemy aggro. If there are skills that mess around with enemy aggro, it?s not stated in any of them.
QuoteIn this case, I believe that ?Restore? would be the proper way of saying it. ?To recover? implies regaining one?s own possessions, so a skill that affects a character?s own MP would be ?recovering? it. On the other side, ?to restore? implies acting on something else, such as ?refilling the jug? would be ?restoring the contents of the jug?. The skill refills other characters? MP thus, ?Restore 3 MP to all other allies on the front line, Has a high delay.? would be the best way to phrase it.
00852A30: Recover 3 MP to all other allies on the front line. Has a high delay.
"All other allies on the front line recover 3 MP. Has a high delay."
If you wanted to keep the current sentence structure, then "Restore 3 MP" should be used. I don't really like the sound of using "restore" though when similar HP and MP effects use "recover" instead.
QuoteI didn?t catch that in game, but yeah Mokou?s response doesn?t make sense. Maybe Reimu?s using the wrong line and her correct one was misplaced?
008A00E8: We may not have been conspiring against her or anything,@but from her point of view, it'll be natural to think @so, I suppose... I kind of feel bad.

Looking more into 5F.txt, it seems Reimu's exact line is also used for Kaguya's event and while it made sense there, it doesn't make sense here.
QuoteRegardless of what the original text said, the phrase ?I cannot have wished for any less!? doesn?t make any sense in the context of this scene.

Pretty sure that should be "wished for any more!" given the context beforehand. Either that or "I wouldn't have expected any less."
But I have no idea what the actual text says so...
1)Here I do believe you?re actually incorrect. Looking at the whole sentence: the verb ?was? is specifically referring to the word ?condition?, not ?allies?. Is this supposed to be Divine instead of Diviner?
Unless I'm really blind, I don't see any changes between the two lines. Shouldn't it be "Yukari's" instead of "Yukari" though?
"An item that increases item drop rate by 1.6% just by being carried."
This is the description for the Guardian subclass but none of the skills have anything to do with taking enemy aggro. If there are skills that mess around with enemy aggro, its not stated in any of them.
ACC High Boost and EVA High Boost doesn't say "Greatly increases base X value." like they should.
front line/back line stuff
I can't tell if that was intentional for Marisa's speech pattern but if it wasn't then obviously "Look at" instead of "Lookit"

Why is the 'm' in "money" not capitalized when its capitalized in all the images and capitalized in the description of Violent Green Rupee? If you end up deciding to capitalize the 'm' in "money" then this line should be given the same treatment as well:
It's the same in the original Japanese. Since both normal and high boost skills use the exact same string, it's impossible to change it for now. (qaz?)It's doable but problematic, like many things. It's something I'm not going to change until after the expansion is out and appears stable.
Regarding front-line/back-line, I can sum it up the mentality as follows:
This is a mess. All right, I'll standardize all references to the 4 active characters as "On the front line" and everyone else as "on the back lines".
(timeskip)
Hmm, there are some lines where "on the front line" just won't fit... Okay, for those instances, let's use "front liner".
(timeskip)
Hmm, there are some lines where even using "front liner" won't fit... Okay, no helping it. Let's just use "front" for those occasions.
And thus, what you see was born. I've now standardized it all to "in front" "at the front" and "at the back" since that generally takes up the least space.
I've went through the game, and made a list of all changes I've made to the text files here (http://pastebin.com/7w089Xji).
Something I've been meaning to ask for a while. On my end, just about all text overflows off the right end of the screen:
which doesn't seem to happen in other screenshots I've seen. How do I fix this?
So to patch the game do we just download the current patch on the front page and then copy the folders inside to the game folder? Because it's not working for me
B) Installing the font type they used for the project. (You should be able to find this in the patch files)As far as I can tell, there is no font included with the patch? Just the .exe and .dxa files, as well as a bunch of text files.
e:Wait what? I just downloaded the newest link in the OP to check and I think he uploaded (or linked to) the wrong file. That's only the resource stuff for the translators, the image file and .exe aren't there. You should use this link from qazmlpok's last post instead https://www.mediafire.com/?ov09hclzlu69bn5
I knew something was off about that archive. Thanks for the other link.http://www.filedropper.com/lot21203exeandimagearchives
EDIT - Ok I'm at my wits end here. No matter how many times I try the download just won't budge. I don't know what mediafire's problem is but it's really starting to tick me off. Would it be possible for someone with the needed files to get the translation working to upload them to a different host? I would seriously appreciate it. :ohdear:

I also believe, though not sure, that the patch makers have mentioned fixing this once there's a stable patch of the Append Disk. It wasn't exactly the highest priority to fix a small aesthetic issue.
My Localization is Japan, but the "Language used for non-Unicode program" is French (Canadian)
There's text overflow, so I tried to switch the language to Japanese, but now it crashes... like, at the second the game opens, it closes
Tried to run it with Applocale, but got the same problem
Any advice?
My Localization is Japan, but the "Language used for non-Unicode program" is French (Canadian)
when people say applocale for 7 it's just the handy term people are used to but they in fact mean "Set non unicode thingie to japan".
Not quite sure what people mean when they say this. But Applocale is a program that emulates your regional settings.
In windows xp yeah. Pretty sure the actual EXE does fat all for windows 7, but people continue to say "use applocale" for windows 7 and there's a hidden meaning of "windows 7 applocale = set non-unicode thingie". I think they just call that step applocale because it accomplishes the same thing applocale used to do for xp.
it falls under Administrative and would require a restart after changing your system locale. But yes, it will say something like "Language for non-Unicode programs".
This is all based on the assumption that this game requires your system locale to be set to Japanese to run. I already have mines in Japanese, so I don't know.
So it's actually the language for non-Unicode program that I must switch... but when I tried playing the game (after switching this thing to jap and restarting my computer), the game crashes. Did the same thing happen to anybody else?
Also the first sentence of the opener is really awkward. Something to the effect of "we're inside the innermost part of the tree"
Is the special disk for Labyrinth of Touhou 2 released yet? Or is there a fullscreen patch?
Is it possible to get the current patch on the front page uploaded to a different site other than mediafire. Mediafire does not work for me ever. Downloads start, but they always cancel into an unknown network error. Here you go. (https://mega.co.nz/#!6hBhUJJa!Xq0EpG-zFsHoVRKrj08GHqnh5h4-zXYaguPqDlFzRuU)
With the recent announcement of the plus-disc release date being in december, does the original team have any plans to potentially translate it as well?

When it comes to translating the names of passives that show up in battle next to buff slots, it'd be good to keep in mind there isn't a lot of space for them.
Futo, Shou, and Mamizou all have relevant counter skills where it's useful to see the level, plus perhaps Mamizou's element transformation, Miko's versions of appointed stateswoman, kokoro masks, etc... jeez. Keine and Meiling had some added too now, I think. Renko's can probably be shortened to Moon Reading/Star Reading. Although apparently they combine into one skill??? I've never found any evidence here or on jp wiki to suggest you can only have Moon OR Stars. "Moon/Star Read"? I'unno, it's pretty cramped.
Apart from that, the plus disk character page (https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Labyrinth_of_Touhou_2/Characters/Characters_7) on the wiki has a couple suggestions for shortening the first three new character's really long passive skill descriptions so they fit in the box. Futo's two offering skills are still likely too long but they can just have some words chopped off in their current form, I think.
The problem with level-less effects that come with skills (like Ability to Read the Moon) is that the game uses a single string for both the effect AND the skill name, which means that it's either off-the-screen length on the effect column OR ridiculously butchered short names on the skill menus. Since they're all levelless, I would rather go with the former since players who are getting those effects would have made a conscious choice in investing in the related skills.
Should this be kept? For the maingame story files, I don't think it'd be that important, since the translation is already done. But I imagine the translators will want to add more such comments, and they'd be lost again with every new version.
I assume what would be wanted is that everything in the file is kept the same, with only the hex addresses being updated. All comments, the line order, etc would remain untouched. Can a translator chime in on this, before I actually start modifying my tools?
Also I have no sound in the plus disk. I don't think I broke anything... odd. This tripped a lot of people up. They changed the scale for sound, so you need to turn it waaaaay up in the options. Overall a decent change because the scale went from quiet to loud awfully quick before, but since it keeps the old now-inaudible setting, it's kind of confusing.
This is fixable, but it's the kind of thing that needs to be done dead last. I can edit the exe to display a different, shorter string in gameplay while using the full length in menus.Oh neat! It's just nice to hear that eventually, I won't have a semi-permanent stamp telling me that all my characters possess the supernatural Ability To Read. :I (Since Renko's ability displays on everyone else in the party, even when she's in the back)
Read up like 4 posts. the question and answer was less than a month ago. It's true that a lot of content is available and untranslated, but they'll have to redo it all over again (probably) after a patch. Given they aren't getting paid to do it, it's understandable they don't want to at this point.
I feel your pain though, I'm refreshing every day =P
I know a new patch changes all the text addresses in game for the text or whatever? The text is still translated but has to be all re-inserted or something.
Originally it was just because "well he's releasing a giant patch within a few weeks" but admittedly at this point who even knows. At this point my hype's run down enough (I can't keep it going after 4 months, come on) so I'm just forgetting about it 'til it's done. :V

I assume that's the Quest name. I don't think I'm far enough in Widenyo to see anything like that.

Sweeeeet. I was thinking about going ahead and playing since there hadn't been an update from the translation -or- 3peso in a long time, but if it's still in progress, I'll keep waitin'. <3
Which translation i should be using for now? i scrolled some pages back and got the one posted the last page, which translates the skills and floor levels (I believe?) will that suffice to enjoy the content?
Any patches that i missed in these months? :V
Apparently, the English Patch causes an in-game crash when interacting with purple keys in the Infinite Corridor. There's also a crash with a couple of snake-like bosses on 26f once they take a turn, so presumably there's something wrong with a move name or it's address? I haven't personally played this far so I don't know more details, but more than one person's reported it in the gameplay thread, and one confirmed they don't crash in japanese.
Another report:Hollow Yamata-no-Orochi, the final boss on B10Falso crashes upon taking its first action with English patch.
I think the crashing issue with the Purple Key and the various bosses (on 25F and on B10F) are more annoying^^
Random tidbit: the dialogue when fighting the base game's final boss has actually been modified a fair bit to cater for the plus disk story.
-Several fixes for untranslated text or overflows or not doing double %s to show percentage signs in-game
-Added space(?) needed to fix the purple key bug in the Infinity Corridor
Unrelated,
00CC2364: Kokoro Hata joined the party!
Shouldn't that be "Hata no Kokoro"? That's how I've always seen it rendered.
Attached is the latest update. This should be more or less everything translated in the game, with some possible exceptions.I'm starting a playthrough on the EXE just posted. I don't have a huge amount of free time to play but I'll try and grab screenshots of issues (and edit them into this post).
A few things that still need to be done:
1. Go through the base game again to check if there are any lines that were changed (besides the final battle), and thus reverted to Japanese in the patch.
2. Go through the plus disk story again and check for wordwrapping and typo issues.
3. Confirm if some stuff like the later-page items and some of the more grindy achievements are wordwrapped properly. (If anyone can provide a save file with all of the unlockable ones available now, that'd help a lot!)
4. Image editing. There should be several new images to do, most of them related to the Infinity Corridor.
5. Confirm that the final non-looping floors of the Infinity Corridor have no unique dialogue. (There didn't seem to be any up to 40f or so...)
Qaz, able to do another exe based on the files in this archive, then do another string and dialogue dump of the patched exe? Those dumps may help in making sure that there aren't any stray untranslated strings. If you can put the new images somewhere (and haven't gotten canon to do them yet), I can try my hand at them again as well.
I just started playing on the new exe, but the first event I met on 24F (I think it's one of the five elements quest) is still untranslated. Are you sure the new exe actually translated everything from 23F onwards?
Oops.

The two lines Eilaris found. Not sure what happened here.
One of Reimu's lines before the first boss in the b1f isn't line broken properly "Just to be 100% sure... Kasen, this isn't one of your @new" and then it goes outside the box. It does have a second line of "we don't know about?"
Great, so the wordwrapping doesn't work at all with any kind of % substitution. Time to just replace that with "percent".
Running the game in japanese locale (theres tools for that so you don't have to change your computers region) fixes most of it, I don't remember why it did (I think because it uses a different font without japanese locale) that but when the final version of the patch comes out, one of the translators said he will fix it. Given how long it's been and that the full game might never even be released, I wouldn't expect it.
It's still not the final version, but it seems that everything is now in the game apart from a chunk of the infinite corridor. (God only knows how far it currently extends, it'll take awhile for people to plumb those depths)
So, there's a good hunk of new dialogue, enemies, and enemy skills.
Also, wow, Rance is in the game now.
And he's fighting with Adol.
EDIT: does Rance 01 (the 2013 remake) have any translations? A couple of skills come from there but I can't find any English names for it.
I put this down a loooong time ago to wait for updates, then forgot about it entirely- never even beat the main game. This caught my eye, so I now have a question. In the last update I had, the home screen menus had edited graphics to translate the actual text on the banners, not just translated descriptions of what they are. Reinstalling everything and updating to the new release and the matching patch update, I notice they are now only display the descriptions in English. Is that right or have I broken something? Screenshot attached for reference.

I think that's Arios, although Arios is based on Adol.
No, Rance 01 doesn't have any translations. But there's a decent chance skills there would be used in other games, including Rance I. Failing that there's people I can ask, including someone who works for Mangagamer. What is the Japanese text for those?

I think 3peso added a new menu item there, or otherwise changed the graphic file for the menu. This broke the translation, and it's never been fixed.
Anyways, the attacks used here are 粘り腰 and 一発屋. I played through Rance I a long time ago and I don't remember getting skill early on (other than magic from Sill), but I don't really know that series so I might be wrong.

This broke the translation, and it's never been fixed.I know I'm being late here and I'm probably saying something obvious, but yeah. 1.104 includes an updated img2.dxa so that's most definitely why the banners and such are broken now.
I finally beat Futo so I'm checking for issues for the stuff after her.
Beyond some typos I added to the spreadsheet, there's a missing line:
https://i.imgur.com/J91HxgZ.png
also I'm thinking about making a github repository for the txt files so multiple people can edit them and stuff. Which I've never set up before, so I don't know how hard it'd be.
EDIT: I created it. I have no idea how to set up access. Git is confusing.
https://bitbucket.org/qazmlpok/lot2/src/master/
(maybe people need to clone it, make changes there, then push back to this one?)
Also, there's a new version out. If anyone is making changes, please send them to me (or commit them to that repo)
Doesn't look like it.And what do we need for that to happen?
May I ask where is the 2.105 patch exe file?IIRC it was posted in the gameplay thread and never in the translation thread, which makes looking for it later... truly confusing V:
Hello, I've returned to play the plus disc after years away from the game. Just out of curiosity, is there something I'm doing wrong with patching the game? The v1.105 patch exe has left me with some things untranslated that were already translated in the v1.103 patch exe. The easiest example to show are skill descriptions such as Adversity and Instant Attack, or the bestiary achievements in the plus section. That's because 3peso changed the text lines for those things to coincide with mechanics changes. Not sure about adversity but instant attack was changed to cost 1 tp when activated. I think the bestiary achievements were changed from a % completion rate to just a flat number. Generally if something is not translated that's not story, it was probably changed in some way in one of the recent patches.

Updated text files. 2105a_missing.txt includes all of the text that was lost when upgrading. And there's still a lot of stuff that wasn't re-added from earlier patches...
There's some mojibake near the end of a lot of those. Do you know what it's supposed to be? e.g.
011AD1E8: The power of "Order" is being gathered???!
maybe just an ellipsis character?
The story scripts section of the string dump seems to be cutting off some text at the start of each line.
0119A328: だーほら来た! 全くもう!@いきなり出てきたと思ったら即コレなんだから!
0119A410: ま、私達。もう上に行く理由はないんだけどな。@せっかくならねー。
These two lines, for example, almost very obviously have something in front of them that got cut off.
Bloody hell, I was doing some long-needed tab maintenance on my browsers and completely forgot this one still existed.
...I guess there've been a bunch of patches since I last stopped a couple of years ago? Is there still anything left to be done or stuff that needs another pair of eyes to go through?
I was playing on version 1.203 and got as high (and low) a possible, so i checked if there was a new version. There was, so i downloaded it, got the latest translation files from the post above and the new exe from a couple of posts higher. Now both the english and the japanese exe claim they're not a valid win32 application. I have checked and this happens regardless of whether i put the translation files in or not. Please help, i have played for hours and i don't want to quit 90% of the way through.
Version 1.203 is for the main game, while the new files are for the plus disk expansion. You need to get the plus disk and apply it before you use the plus disk translation.
For now, you need to go find the version 1.203 translations files again and apply them. Your saves should still be safe, so once you get the 1.203 files back, you'll be able to pick up where you left off.
