That's it. I give up on ragequitting repeatedly while attempting a Reisen 1cc. I'll spare the bitching and get down to business. If there's such a thing as a code you can input to unlock all characters, like there is in BWR+, I'd love to see that. If you could just send me a complete score.dat, that'd also be great as long as it doesn't interfere with replays. So, anyone know where you could find something like that?

I know there isn't a cheat code to unlock all characters, but anything like a full score.dat or a code to input into score.dat would be nice.

You don't have to 1cc. Just 2cc, or 3cc, or 4cc if you can't 1cc and you still get the unlocks.

And you can even do it on Easy, if you want. You just have to clear the game.

Guys, just bear with it. I don't want to play Easy, and Normal's more of a chore than a challenge except when I face Sakuya. I want to be able to play as Aya, and I don't honestly care about "cheating" myself out of unlocking new characters on my own. I know I could unlock it myself, but frankly I'm tired of playing two hours straight attempting a Reisen 1cc and getting screwed over by Sakuya every single time. I have to win as Reisen, Lyrica, and Tei to unlock the next set of characters, but frankly I'm not interested. Lazy, I know, but whatever. I want to play games on summer break, not do work.

I don't get it, Aya isn't good against the AI, and isn't good against good enough players as well.. there are better options for either fighting the AI or human opponents..

Aya completely dominates lunatic AI AFAIK.

hmm.. I thought that the AI would be able to dodge the streams, but from the looks of it, it just reacts (or tries to get rid of boss summons/Lily asap), doesn't control space, and by moving around so much, it makes the EX attacks (those aimed comet-like things, if I got the name right) much more dangerous than they should ever be. So, the AI enjoys walling itself when those aimed bullet streams appear, because it likes flying around when there are chainable bullets near it.
Never thought that Aya's ability to defeat the AI would lie on the flawed AI (which is why I said that there were better options -- Medicine, and characters which spawn lasers which the AI doesn't detect), rather than on Aya's strong points. So much aimed attacks, which a human player would be able to manage way better than the AI..
(to the op: imho, the ban-worthy characters for playing against an human opponent are Sikieiki, Komachi and Reimu. Marisa's a bit troublesome, especially late in a match, but Reimu in a late game is a nightmare and Sikieiki's rain of hotdogs is overwhelming as usual)

You don't have to 1cc the game, chief. You can use as many continues as you like. And I'm not sure you can be too cool for easy mode and also ask for other people to unlock the game for you at the same time.

This was my main concern. I'm happy to use continues as long as I'm not playing seriously. I just wonder about Shikieiki.
Generally, I only lose about 1 or 2 lives before her. Then I sacrifice at least one, because her first phase is almost impossible to damage and throws up a lot of walls. She gets easier after that, but AFAIK doesn't get any easier after you lose more lives to her. So I've lost my last three lives and I continue. Does the difficulty go down from there, or is it just luck whether I beat her or not? Basically, if I lose 3 lives to easier!Shiki, what's to stop me losing 3 more after I continue?
And yeah, I could play on Easy. I shouldn't be holding a lot of pride considering I've never 1cc'd anything on Hard. What are you guys, anyway? Fucking psychologists?

Komachi makes you lose friends. Friends don't let friends use Komachi..

Either I've got some patched version or my luck completely sucks, which wouldn't be a surprise.

Lunatic AI has a 100% perfect deathbomb reflex, so it could be that there's enough opportunities for them to fill their bar that you are in fact getting multiple hits, but they have enough power to deathbomb it every time.
Medicine though, I'll agree on. The only time the poison usually does anything for me is if they get caught in a cloud near the top of the screen and Lily tackles them.
It's also probably worth noting that Youmu's EX attacks carry the laser effect; the AI doesn't watch where the EX bubbles are going to spawn and tends to get hit by them more often than it should.

I'd recommend you to try to get used with the chaining (this means, once you've developed dodging abilities and can also watch where the fairies are, don't spam shots, as shooting something when a chain's already going resets the chain hit counter -- but not the chain itself --, delaying score-based boss summons -- which happen at 100k, 300k and 500k. If you can reset your chain safely after 500k or earlier -- late in a game, for example, where it's quite easy to rebuild a chain -- you can counter Sikieiki's boss summons). Also, use lvl 2's more often in order to raise your EX attack level to 16, then you can use it whenever you may need them (since you can't raise the EX attack level beyond 16). If you get to destroy Lily and get a "G" item to come from her, you may use lvl 2s (more difficult to do if you're using Youmu) and then the bomb button before picking it (since it refills all your gauge)

it's reduced on the other stages as well, but I think that the amount of time that's subtracted gets smaller and smaller. Don't remember how hard she is, compared to Normal.. haven't played Extra for a while

this reminds me, of when I played Twinkle Star Sprites against someone on the old 2D Fighter thing. I've picked Mevious, got defeated and then was told that I shouldn't use Mevious and Memory; later, I found that these two are banned by japanese players :p

If I remember right she should get easier.
Shiki gets a lot easier when you know how her EX attacks work, if you don't already. All the clouds do in essence is double any bullet that passes over it, with the duplicate moving at double speed. While (correct me if I'm wrong on the colors, it's been awhile) blue bullets just go wherever, pink ones are semi-targetted, meaning you can usually stream them safely (emphasis on usually; frequently you'll end up inside a wall of them, but even against the lunatic match play AI I find if I just keep streaming inside the wall I make it out safely more often than not).

The whole point of Extra isn't really to beat your opponent, it's just to outlast them. Spam L2 attacks to keep yourself alive and to increase your score, thus getting yourself more lives.

All right, that's Reisen over with. Not a 1cc, but still clear. Shiki really doesn't get easier... And wow, that was a retarded format error I made. I can't avoid betraying my n00bishness.
Made an attempt as Tei and did considerable better. Stage 6 boss went down without a hit on my end (Sakuya really is that much harder), beat Medicine without losing a life, miraculously went through a wall or two, etc. etc. etc.
Then on my last life, Shiki got an automatic L4 attack. Ran up to her and charged my strongest attack. Ran away, but as my invincibility ran out I collided with a bunch of stuff she had just fired. Terrible, terrible hit, and I could have won if it hadn't happened. Next time I'll continue, but that replay just had to be saved.

Hey, I'm not that much of a noob. If I can manage a pretty clean 1cc with a gimp character like Youmu, I'm not at risk of forgetting how to chain or charge attacks.

Youmu's considered to be pretty good, and is one of the four characters that I've heard of placing in a tournament, the other three being Reimu, Shiki, and Marisa.

There's no "Medicine glitch" that I know of. The AI enters a cluster of poison clouds, the dodging algorithm becomes instantaneously useless since it's moving at 1/5 the speed and still "dodging" bullets at the last moment. Simple as that. And Aya hits the AI because her EX is WAY TOO FUCKING FAST for the AI to get out of the way every time it needs to.
The only way to fail to murder the AI with Aya or Medicine is to play waaaay too passively and therefore generate too few EX attacks to make a big difference. Or to repeatedly last less than two minutes yourself.

...when it wants to, which is to say, always in match mode and mostly during the final levels in story mode before the loltimer tells it it's time to become stupid, but yes, this is correct. This is also why Marisa is probably the hardest lunatic AI to beat in match mode, much harder than Shikieiki.

Yeah, I probably should've been more clear about that. I pretty much always play PoFV for match mode, so it skipped my mind that story mode would be different.

I 1cc'd lunatic without knowing any of this other than charging. :V I still don't know the latter two. Then again, I was using the FUN character so my accomplishment isn't legit bitch bitch bitch.

Youmu is one of the best characters in the game. At least for PvP!
Have you ever seen any high-end PvP matches or looked the East-Opera results? It's not as popular now because everyone is using either Reimu or Marisa but still very good.

Unlocking almost everything shouldn't be that hard. The only things that requires a 1cc run are Komachi's and Shiki's Extra runs. (Though some tips there would help.)
