JESUS, Lucian uses up a lot of mana! I've only managed to play him once in a custom game because of scrub-tier auto-locking nonsense, but good lord, if you don't have Soraka with you, you're gonna lose your mana bar faster than Veigar without his passive on free week pre-30.
Out of curiosity, for when I DO get to play him, what are the build options? I know E uses less mana per level, and costs no mana at max, not to mention it's an amazing escape tool, so maxing it first seems like a no-brainer, but for the rest of his kit, would you just build a ton of AS for his ult, or perhaps get an Iceborn to work alongside his passive proc? On that note, how about a Manamune, since he drains mana so much?
EDIT: Theorycraftin'! Just a few build ideas I wanna try out:
I - Bloodthirster > Berserker's Greaves > Zephyr/Blade of the Ruined Kind/Black Cleaver/Iceborn Gauntlet
First items for damage, attack speed and lifesteal. The absolute necessities. The remaining four items are taken in a debatable order. Zephyr, BC and Iceborn all give Lucian some CDR, as well as have some sort of passive that boosts his overall damage output or helps him survive teamfights. Zephyr and BoRK are there for more attack speed, combined into the build for an extra 90% AS, and add some form of survivability and a touch of extra damage. Iceborn gives more mana and its passive, which mixes itself into Lucian's skill-dependent kit and passive, and Black Cleaver adds armor pen, health and some more punch to his attacks.
II - Tear of the Goddess (Muramana) > Berserker's Greaves > Bloodthirster > Phantom Dancer > Iceborn Gauntlet > Last Whisper
Start up the game with a sapphire crystal, a health pot and mana pot. Focuses on damage and mana usage. Haven't tested this in the slightest, but I'm curious as to how it'd work. Also, the alternative: Blue Lucian, for the easily offended audiences. Build him pretty much the same as Blue Ez. Just curious of the results is all.
