But I Can Try
« on: January 25, 2011, 09:09:10 PM »
This is a short poem I wrote for a friend of mine that recently died in a bad car crash. I was trying to think of something to write to take to a candlelight vigil and was completely stumped. Suddenly this came forth. I figured I'd post it since it does have a number of touhou references in it. I was just curious to what people thought of it and maybe, if anyone felt like it, you could analyze the references or something.

But I Can Try
by YellowYoshi1

I feel as if I'm staring up
At an emotional skyscraper
Blocking out the sun
I can?t put into words my feelings
But I can try
My heart is like a withered leaf
Though I?m still here, you?ve left
The border of life is a thin and fragile one
You lived your life
with such compassion
We all could see
Just how big a heart you had
People could only look on
With green-eyed jealousy
And wonder what you had
And what they lacked
That you lived such a life
Of kindness and tranquility

Many hearts ache at the loss
Gone from this world much too soon
You were a candid friend
An ally we could look to in times of need
A defender when we felt beaten down
A healer when we felt broken
We can only hope to learn
From what you?ve left behind
And keep your memory in our hearts
So that we may live as you did
We?ll miss you down here
Rest in peace dear friend
