Thanks, Akyu and Keine.

Previous years: 2010 (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,7476.0.html), 2011 (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,10980.0.html), 2012 (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,13576.0.html)

November is National Novel Writing Month, NaNoWriMo! 10 days remain until the starting point, the first day of November. For anyone who's new to this whole thing, the idea is to write a novel in a single month-- 50,000 words in 30 days or less. It's always tough, trainwrecky, and ridiculously fun. First-timers and veterans are all welcome!

Ten days seems like a lot, but it's a short amount of time for brainstorming and figuring out what ideas to write, and to write outlines and plot notes. (Again, as last year and the year before that, if you want to post your story in PSL, even if it's original and not related to Touhou, you can just put [NaNoWriMo] in the subject line so our Librarians can more easily sort it whenever we do the next library catalogue cleanup.)

Who else is in for another go-around this year? Post your profile in this thread so's you can add others as writing buddies and/or just keep track of each other's progress, and I'll edit 'em into the first post later~

For my part, I am so in. I hardly got the chance to do anything last year, so this year I'm picking up my old idea and dusting it off because damn it, I'm gonna actually go somewhere with it this year!

You know what, I think I might do this this year. My writing is pretty shit, I can't get anything across without drawing pictures to supplement it. Maybe it wouldn't hurt to work on that.

That's a lot of fucking words though. Oh well, if I can't keep up it just means I keep being a quitter like always :V

I'll think about it and make a profile if I decide to commit to it.

Not sure if I can do it this year.

I had to quit last year because of my thesis and it's the same story this year. Unfortunately. Might have to bow out of this one.

I hate my life, can you tell?

I guess since I got booted from my Ph.D and escaped writing a dissertation this would be suitable penance. :V I've wanted to participate for at least a couple years now, so I'm in. I have no clue what i'm going to write about yet.

(No, I am not continuing Xanadu origins because frankly I never liked Shiki anyway, though Komatits on the other hand...)

I've been a bad writer lately, I've been ignoring Nano to read the Wedding Peach manga and Precure blogging. Time to play some catch-up.

Yeah, I've had a bad couple of days; so I'm having to really fling out the words here.

Good thing I haven't been able to stop since I started this evening; might catch up before I fall asleep... with luck~ XD

EDIT : So after only managing 707 on Day 1, and missing out on doing anything on the 2nd & 3rd due to outdoor shenanigans, I'm very happy with myself for getting to 4005 at this point in time. Will continue writing more after sleep; I think I need it, otherwise my eyes are going to hate me.

I sure hope I get to see the end of my story some day :(

Wrote 3.3k words today, intend to do much the same tomorrow to finally catch up with the target. Nanowrimo tip: emotionally torture your characters for fun, profit, and word count. It's amazing how much mileage you can get out of a single panic attack!

After a whole lot of nothing for the first week, I finally worked out an idea and an actual (well, mostly) title this morning! ...Sadly it's only 1457 words right now, which means I'm way, way behind. whoops. :V Oh well.

It can be found here (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,15852.0.html) on our very own PSL board. Might plop it in some other places on the net, too.

I fell off the horse at the end of the work week, more due to being stuck at a scene I didn't know what to do with than not wanting to write, but writing on work days can be pretty taxing regardless.

Anyway, I did good today, I just need to write 2500 words tomorrow and Sunday and I'll be caught up.

I managed to get fairly far ahead in my first week or so, but real life caught up to me after that :(  I'm sitting at like...36k, so I have plenty of time to finish, but my routine was broken something fierce, so it'll still be a struggle to get it back.

So as some of you already know I'm a huge hypocrite and started a NaNo project.  And surprisingly I've kept up with it.  Though it has pretty much been 'write a days worth extra on the weekend, still manage to fall behind a day during the week, obsessively try to catch up next weekend.'  I'm hoping Thanksgiving will give me the time to slam out the ending for when I inevitably fall behind again.

I'm also hoping to drag what I learned to writing the rest of the year.  I'll probably cut back word wise, but maybe I can keep this focus and actually finish some of the works I've let languish due to me sucking at writing for the last six months+.

Damn.  O.O

I have no idea how you do things like that Ruro.  I think my best in a day was 4000, and that was with me cheating and not having work.  The only reason I think I have a chance is that I'm at home Thursday through Saturday and I might just be able to pump out the 2k words a day I need.

Meanwhile for comparison my chart.  Ignore the jump on the 19th.  I just didn't put in my words from the 18th, so it's actually about 1/2 that.

Ugh.  Being sick is terrible, being sick on a holiday is terrible (even if you don't celebrate it, and being sick when you need to write is super terrible.  I hope it clears up with some bed rest.  Or at least becomes something you can do things with.

48800 words.

It's a good thing there's another book to follow, or I'd be kinda sad.  All work and no 50000 words makes Iced a dull fairy.

Congrats TwilightsCall.  Last minute wins count the same as any other. ;)

Stuffman : In addition to having free time, I found the key to my success was outlines.  Outlines for everything.  If I ever got stuck I made another smaller outline.  Really saved me when I went totally off plot for a bit.
