Rika and Nitori's Garage Experiments / Re: ※ Danmakufu Q&A/Problem thread 3 ※
« Last post by Dire29 on February 22, 2020, 02:02:58 AM »
Hello! So I got back into doing Danmakufu again and I'm almost there with implementing something like Reimu's Yin Yang balls. I managed to have them move into a different position when I press the shift key but they teleport instead:
Code: [Select]
if(GetVirtualKeyState(VK_SLOWMOVE)==KEY_PUSH || GetVirtualKeyState(VK_SLOWMOVE)==KEY_HOLD){
ObjRender_SetPosition(extrashot, GetPlayerX-10, GetPlayerY-30, 3);
ObjRender_SetPosition(extrashot2, GetPlayerX+10, GetPlayerY-30, 3);

}
else{
ObjRender_SetPosition(extrashot, GetPlayerX-30, GetPlayerY-30, 3);
ObjRender_SetPosition(extrashot2, GetPlayerX+30, GetPlayerY-30, 3);
}

I know it's because of the SetPosition thing but I'm not sure how to make them NOT teleport. I've tried ObjMove_SetDestAtFrame and other things like that but it doesn't seem to do anything. Is there something else I can try?

Front Page Headlines / Regarding the IRC (and myself)
« Last post by [⑨] Suzuran on February 21, 2020, 05:31:35 PM »
When I took over hosting of the IRC, I did so as a favor to Gwen.
After my active participation in the IRC came to an end, I continued to host it out of a desire to not cause further problems for Gwen.
With Gwen's passing, that (self-assumed) obligation is at an end.

PPIRC was never mine - It was Gwen's network. I only hosted it.
I only had operator privileges out of necessity and was never supposed to be involved in the network itself.
(This is why I never had a regular channel operator in #shrinemaiden - I was a half-operator in that channel only.)

My intentions are to continue to host the IRC as it is until the ppirc.net domain expires, at which time the ppirc network will cease to exist.
At that time, I consider my involvement in the western touhou fandom to be at its end. I do not intend to impose myself upon you any further.

If there is demand for it (and there seems to be), I may run another IRC network, and it may happen to have the same IP address that PPIRC does now, but it will not be PPIRC.
PPIRC belongs to Gwen and should go with her. I don't feel right stealing It away.

The past is in the past now, and as much as I wish things had gone differently, what happened happened.
For all its warts, I would not trade it for anything; I only wish I had done less harm.
I should have moved on a long time ago, and this feels like the right time to do it.
I wish you all the best in the future.

Quote
...what's past is prologue, what to come
In yours and my discharge.

I had been away for months.

While I knew the community was facing some unspecified major difficulties, I had no idea the situation was anywhere near this grave. Yet I was feeling kind of skeptical regarding the future of the Kaleidoscope forums.

Having skimmed through this thread last night and read many parts of it with thought, I am deeply impressed by the community spirit that has surfaced and the self-sacrificing efforts of several members.

Under similar circumstances, many an online community would have just abandoned the ruins even if they had proper root access to the database. Sure, there would have been individuals who would have saved dozens or even hundreds of threads as mementos. Most likely there would have been some sort of continuation, possibly as a number of different Discord groups or whatever the people would have found convenient enough.

As I told one of my friends last night, no social medium that I have discovered so far can serve me like web discussion forums ? as a cross between a chatting circle, a study group, a publication platform, and a searchable online archive.

While I am sad for what has led us here, I am most grateful to those who have helped salvage, save, and revive the discussion forum incarnation of this community. Whether you have contributed with work, money, ideas, or encouraging words, you have been a part of it.

This is totally a takeover from your new benevolent dictator, Karisa Mirisame!
...I'm no good at this. Not my style.
It would make sense for a tyrant to establish a benign facade. Makes it easier to rule with an iron fist when nobody's looking. Don't fall for it, everyone!

If anyone's wondering, the v3 project originated from a conversation I had with helvetica (unfortunately, that was the last conversation we ever had...), where she was supportive of a clean start with the old site becoming read-only. I considered it a failed effort at the time, since Tom and I were never able to contact helvetica again after we had something to show, for permission to go ahead. But we happened to have the start of v3 intact after hearing the news, to coordinate with the remaining admins on this site, and fix up for public release.

I don't really have a problem with archival, but I think it's better to have the archives hard to find but circulated among the members, instead of publicly indexed on the wayback machine. That way the people who it's emotionally significant to have it but not the random internet weirdos digging for a person's online history

Don't worry, LettyJournal, while it'll probably backed up, won't be made available per request.
