Besides the rattatas, weedles and pidgeys: Prepare also a lot of evolve-able pokemons you didn't register on your pokedex. It will grant you also a lot of Exp for the evolve + registration.

Also FML:
[22:35:55] <Helepolis> my god the servers keep going down
[22:36:03] <Helepolis> why did i even sign up for this game with a pokemon club account
[22:36:08] <Helepolis> could've used my yt acc

I have heard that if you name your Eevee Rainer it will force-evolve into Vaporeon.

Same is supposed to apply to Sparky for Jolteon and Pyro for Flareon.

That's still rumor last i checked, but yeah. I don't have opposite proof and i haven't seen a large debunk post yet.

It's been consistent for like three days now, it's pretty safe to say it works.

Turns out my 10km egg was the last Eevee I needed to make this lil guy, making it well worth the wait.

Yup, I haven't been able to log in once all day. Classy.
I made a PADHerder. It's probably out of date though.

oh

So you're saying it'll never work again because Asia's going to have the servers overloaded 24/7?

Makes about as much sense as anything else in this kusoge.

Man someone has a Starmie in a gym near me and I'm thinking, "now there's a Pokemon you don't see often" :V

To list all the common Pokemon in my area, it's Ekans, Sandshrew, Mankey, Machop, Geodude, Doduo, Cubone, and Rhyhorn. So many Ground-types `_` I hardly get Pidgey here so I can't even do the Pidgey power-leveling trick.

Caterpies and weedles work, too. Geodudes might make an ok substitute though.

Brah if Caterpie and Weedle were common they'd be on my list `_` As it stands they're even rarer than Pidgey. I haven't even seen a Caterpie yet (I've seen a Weedle silhouette but I wasn't able to track it down)

Fly on over then. This whole town's crawling with them.

I mainly get pidgeys and ratatas. In the gyms, you can several eevee evolutions(mostly Vaporeons), Gyrados, Pidgeots, and some stand alone guys like Scyther and Pinsir.

They could make candy easier to get in this game for certain pokemon. Especially the starters. Don't have much reason to use mine. Would add more variety.

Candy should be type specific not evo line specific. If a Pok?mon gains a new type or changes type in evolution the evo should require the new types candy. Eevee would eventually have a huge evo menu.

This so much. Like every time I think of catching a super rare Pokemon in the wild I think, "What's the point? I'll have to get a gazillion candies for it anyway." Hatching and getting a bunch of candies from the hatch is the only option.

Yeah, I bet you anything they weren't important, either. They probably decided to fix a typo or some garbage, and shut down they servers for most of the day so that they could update them, too. It'd be funny if it were some Pokedex information that nobody reads.

They shouldn't have to shut down the servers to update the app at all if it was only user-side changes like text; more generally, any changes that wouldn't leave database discrepancies between playing the game on different versions should not require servers to be off to update. Essentially all current major issues with the game don't have to do with the gameplay mechanics themselves, and so updates that fix these issues should be fine to release without any server downtime. At worst, if the way the app communicates with the game server changes, then downtime would be needed because they'd need to change server code. On the flip side, if they do make any changes to the game mechanics, the app itself shouldn't have to change very much, if at all. Kind of the point of having a game that relies on server-stored information is that the app itself is just an interface for the user to interact with that data.

So wait, status effects are a thing after all? I'm almost certain I got poisoned at a gym just now. How does that work? What does it do? What other statuses are there? Or am I insane and I just imagined Toasty Boy the Flareon turning purple and hemorrhaging HP?

Wait, is the Pokedex supposed to work? Whenever I open it it just twitches and jitters and crashes my game. Do other people not have that problem?

I don't.

Biggest issues I have is the distance meters not working, the order of the nearby pokemon not making sense, pokemon appearing that aren't even on that list

And this one irritating problem where I'll have pokeballs that I throw straight and the ball goes up straight, but them arcs one way or another widely, like the pokemon has some sort of Protoss Shield around it.

That's just a curveball happening when you don't want it to. I usually get it when I'm trying to throw the ball too fast.
