First off, my
photo album. It's got the first Touhou photoshoot, the Friday Fire Emblem photoshoot and a small Tales series photoshoot, plus other stuff I thought was neat. I was Jetpack / Astronaut / SSiB Marisa.
Katsucon was wonderful. One of the best conventions I've ever been to if not the very top. Most everything I set out to do, I accomplished. It was a con full of firsts for me. Like my first Touhou Cosplay, my first time actually learning to sew things together for said cosplay, first time incorporating electronics into my cosplay, my first time speaking in front of a convention panel, and first time having tea parties at conventions.
Convention Highlights
Touhou photoshoot / Teacon 2015 - Went to the Touhou photoshoot, followed by a mad dash to prepare tea with Patchi for everyone. It was here that Yama got the nickname "Mermaid / Fish-man with the green hair and discopants." Let's all have tea together again sometime!
Our talk as part of the Touhou panel - I've done plenty of science conference presentations before, but like I said, first time talking at an anime con panel where the audience is a lot different. Despite our technical difficulties, I'm was really happy to have our demo go smoothly (Thank you RNG gods) and was glad that people seemed to enjoy it. I want to extend a gigantic thank you to the panel organizers (Silentsword and Kilga) for the opportunity to present my work. When we started the project on
MotK back in 2008, I never thought in a million years that I'd be doing this presentation in front of all of these Touhou fans. We've come a long way!
Basically all of Saturday - We started the Touhou photoshoot which was as fun as the first. Then we had a mini-tea party in our hotel room with my hotel roommates plus Yama and Patchi. I had a lot of fun with playing Cards Against Humanity before the amazing and delicious Touhou group dinner at Nandos. And then we hung out in the hotel room looking at cute animals and having my tablet taken over for IRC-ing :3c. Later that night, it became bad fanfiction night where the highlight was Ephshi reading out loud terrible terrible Mario Kart (!) erotica.
End of the con on Sunday - At cons, Sunday is always the saddest day. Said farewells to people throughout the day, and then helped pack up the Touhou booth. My sister made tasty cupcakes for us afterwards. Many hugs were exchanged as we said our goodbyes before we all parted ways.
Embarrassing remarks ahead. Please be cautious. A lot of people that I met have only spoken with through through online chats and forums, so I was happy to meet everyone in person that I only knew as an IRC handle or a Twitter name. You are all such wonderful, kind people! I will miss you all! I hope that I will be able to see you all again someday soon!
