Title: MotK NFL Postseason Discussion - FF 2015 season is over (congrats PX!)
Post by: Rin Kagamine on July 28, 2015, 10:17:25 PM
It's almost August, which means that NFL-lite (preseason football) is almost here, which means that real football is almost back! Given that wonderful news, are y'all interested in doing another year of fantasy?

I'd love to do it again since the pattern dictates that I should win the league this year lol. C'mon y'all!

I'll renew the league and send out invites at some point this week. It's the least I can do for stomping everyone's asses so much.

As of now he's playing for the Eagles!

I find that my games go better when I go through Kaiji levels of agonizing and suffering each week.

Star Lotulelei carted off the practice field today, but it's OK because it's just a "sore foot" and per HC Ron Rivera: "We might be being overly protective."

Thanks Panthers I'd been missing the constant high blood pressure you give me all throughout football season.  Thanks for starting early!

Fire Ron Rivera.

This fucking team. At least he'll be missing preseason games and can use the first regular season game as a warm-up (sorry man).

I'm interested in watching Funchess this season, because if he can hold on to the damn ball after the catch there's a chance he could emerge as the #1 receiver. I like Benjamin but he needs to stop dropping the ball all the time.

My apologies for preemptively adding logstires to the inevitable dumpster fire that is your team's 2015 season, but the only one walking out of EverBank with a victory on week 1 is the team that isn't from a state that rhymes with "vagina"

Don't sign Fitzpatrick if you want your QB to stay healthy.
First season with each team:
Rams - Bulger and Martin both injured by week 11. Fitz starts 3.
Bengals - Palmer injured most the season. Fitz starts 12.
Bills - Edwards injured. Fitz starts 9.
Titans - Locker injured week 4, Fitz starts 9.
Texans - Starts season as QB1, Mallet takes over then injured after 3 starts. Fitz is QB1 again.
Jets - Geno punched. Fitz starter in the preseason.

Thanks Jets for being so Jets that our stupid QB/DB fight got dropped like the non-story it is.

He didn't get put into the best situation in the world, but he wasn't exactly great to begin with.

Getting your jaw obliterated by an angry teammate is definitely low on the "things I'd wish on a player I otherwise don't care much about" list, though...

Edible - Jags
Kilga - Patriots

Welcome to an introduction to *sigh* the 2015 Carolina Panthers  :colonveeplusalpha:

HEAD COACH: Riverboat Ron Rivera!  A man who actually went for it on 4th and 1 a few times 2 years ago with a 6' 5" QB and suddenly gained a reputation for taking risks!  Watching him mismanage a game into the fucking ground is a weekly occurrence; and yet when he occasionally calls for the team to "go for it" on 4th down (he calls for like 3/4 of all plays from inside 4th and 2 to be punts when Cam Newton could FALL DOWN and get the first down) people immediately start up again with "RIVERBOAT RON TAKES THE BIG RISKS!  HE'S GREAT IN THE FACE OF INSURMOUNTABLE ODDS!"  I hate him, he is terrible.  He is a bad coach.  He may have been a good DC, but with a D as stacked as the Panthers were the past 2 years it doesn't take XTREME SKILLZ to get them to play well.  He should have been fired during the Bye after week 3 in 2013, in which case our new HC would be starting his third year.  Unless the Panthers suck hardcore this year, we're stuck with Rivera; playing in the worst division yet again this year (the Saints are a horrible tire fire, the Bucs are laughable, and the Falcons will once again not be able to put together anything on the field) means we'll probably win the division yet again and be guaranteed another low 1st Round draft pick.  I am in hell.

QUARTERBACK: Cam Newton!  Leading the league in Looking Great in Photographs (seen here (http://imgur.com/gallery/7Qlu49c) and here (https://twitter.com/SBNation/status/630910779429101568) for starters) and Overthrowing Tallest Receivers In The NFL.  I like Cam Newton, he can scramble well enough to get some important TDs and he can sometimes throw a great pass (to receivers who completely lack the ability to catch or hold onto the ball).  Of course, he does have to scramble a lot these days given the awful state of the O line, so maybe if he actually had the time he could be much better at throwing the ball!  Alas, please Cam continue to run for 5000 yards behind the line of scrimmage every play until your legs explode and then the GM finally considers drafting an OT.  Derek Anderson is a perfectly fine back-up; Joe Webb is a servicable third-string QB who also contriubtes useful minutes on Special Teams.  Do the Panthers have the best QB "bullpen" in the league?  I hope we never have to find out!

GENERAL MANAGER: Dave Gettleman.  Terrible.  "Best Player Available" means we went into this year's draft needing O line and Secondary and we walked away with 0 help in either position.  We added yet another talented LB to the best LB corps in the league (can they win a game by themselves? Gettleman seems to think so!) and another 6' 5" receiver with questionable hands to complement the 6' 5" receiver with questionable hands we got last year.  I hate this man.

OFFENSIVE LINE: We got one of the best centers around in Kalil!  He would be helped more by 4 statues than our current O line.  We ditched Byron Bell finally and replaced him with Michael Oher (from The Blind Side [who was cut by the Titans {and replaced by BYRON BELL!}])  Current options for the other 3 positions are Remmers, Chandler, Williams, Hills, and Foucault.  We will wind up throwing three of these dudes on the line and pray that the mere presence of having 5 warm bodies on the line will prevent other teams from sacking our QB.  PROTIP: it won't.

RUNNING BACK: KEEP POUNDING!  RUN THE DAMN BALL!!  THAT'S HOW WE REACHED THE SUPER BALL WITH DELHOMME UNDER CENTER!!!  Jonathan Stewart finally spent an entire season without getting injured, and that was enough to jettison DeAngelo Williams (the current holder of basically every Panthers franchise rushing record).  This means that J.Stew will fall into a sinkhole at Everbank Field on the first play from scrimmage and never be seen again.  He is currently supported by a RBBC including Fozzy Whittaker and PRESEASON STAR Brandon Wegher, with possible bowling ball Mike Tolbert at Fullback.  Fun fact: Lache Seastrunk was on the practice squad for 5 weeks last year and is now currently competing for the starting job in Dallas.  gj everyone

WIDE RECEIVERS: Last year's potential rookie breakout star Kelvin Benjamin!  He is basically a clone of Cam Newton in build, except with dreadlocks!  He had a terrible case of The Dropsies last year!  As a result he was overshadowed in the league by Odell Beckham Jr and in his own division by Mike Evans (who was basically catching passes from scarecrows, for all their efficiency on offense)!  Hopefully this year will show a marked improvement after another offseason of work as he goes into his sophomore season as the known WR1.  Just kidding, he went down yet again at practice, this time with a "sprained knee" per noted Not-A-Doctor Ron Rivera.  He is probably out for the year, along with all enthusiasm for this (unintentionally) high flying offense!  (Steve Smith played through a torn PCL, please come back Steve ;_;)  The WR corps also contains second round pick Devin Funchess (who will likely look like a less productive KB during his rookie year), noted return man (in more ways than one) Ted Ginn Jr (who is basically Devin Hester Jr), Philly "Don't call me Philly" Brown (who looks to have a promising career as a WR3 at best), and Brenton Bersin (who looks like Blaine Gabbert and plays about as well to boot).  Our most reliable receiving threat is our Tight End...

TIGHT END: GREG OLSEN!  PLEASE DON'T DIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KICKER: Graham Gano!  He is pretty good.

DEFENSIVE LINE: Panther play a 4-3 defense with the line consisting of Lotulelei (hurt), Short (hurt), Cole (old), and Depression wrapping up that formidable foursome!  Fingers crossed that everyone is ready to be the backbone of this team once again.

LINEBACKERS: LUKE KUECHLY!  He's currently trying to get more money.  THOMAS DAVIS! He is getting older.  Other players who will be overshadowed all year by these two include surprise first round pick Shaq Thompson, Klein, Trusnik, and Mayo.  There will be a 1:10 mention ratio of any of these other names to Kuechly or Davis.  I like both of these guys, but the way Kuechly spends every play running around trying to tackle the entire team, casts serious doubt on the production of the rest of the unit.

DEFENSIVE END: Greg Hardy is gone, and took millions of dollars, a lot of production, and probably a lot of pent up rage to Dallas.  Looking forward to seeing that Thanksgiving game!  Charles Johnson replaces him, along with Kony (2012) Ealy.  That is, unless PRESEASON STAR Rakim Cox can step up!

SECONDARY:  :barf:  Charles Tillman is old.  Roman Harper is also old but also busted.  Bene Benwikere is not Ben Bernanke.  There are other men who will play in these positions and none of them will be any good and honestly, as desperate as our LT situation stands, the secondary being a complete fucking mess is so much more disheartening and puts that much more stress on the front 7 to stop the pass because god knows we can't stop the opposing receivers.

In conclusion: This team needs to go 2-14 to guarantee a new HC and LT but will likely back into the playoffs at 8-8 in a terrible division GO 13-3 AND WIN THE BIG ONE THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!  KEEP POUNDING!!!!!!

EDIT:
Are you a prophet :V

I'm pretty sure he is.

Took too long to exercise your despair.  Panthers retaliated by giving Kelvin Benjamin a knee injury.

Wayne would be nice and probably a step up from Cotchery, but I doubt they'll take a chance on him. Since the veteran combine I've been hoping that the Panthers would sign Takashi Kurihara but that's probably also not going to happen.

Joe Flacco is more elite than Andy Dalton.

No idea why Winston keeps running in these TDs for the Bucs; he's more Roethlisberger than Newton and he looks pretty goofy doing it.  Does he not trust V.Jax and Mike Evans?????? #hottakes

Gonna call it now. Seahawks tear through the season and win the superbowl, just like last year. Which is a shame, because despite them being the team of my state, I don't like them, though that may be because of the constant endless praise my step dad gives them. I'd love to see someone else, especially an underdog team, beat them up and cripple them for the season.

The date and general time period cannot be changed; Drunk Aya needed to fix his schedule several weeks in advance to make sure he could make it and asked the draft not be moved once that happened. I can ask him if a 15-minute nudge in either direction is okay, though.

Seriously, look up anything related to Ben Volin interviewing Goodell (https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/2015/08/11/roger-goodell-evasive-when-asked-about-deflategate-owners-meeting/3a9YqEtWDGanzVTpRCwGtJ/story.html). I've got two words for Goodell (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CY5MmKCL2E)

It's time for Goodell to go.  The constant failures of him and his office has rendered him absolutely feckless.
As long as they keep being led by the nose by the media, sooner of later, something is going to explode in their faces.  Mark my words, the NFL is going to suspend someone as a knee-jerk reaction to the media, only to find out the reason they suspended him turned out to be completely phony.  The NFL needs someone with the balls to tell the media and the whiners and complainers of the world to piss off.

Our #1 receiver is Ted Ginn. Our #2 couldn't catch a single important pass against the Patriots. Jerricho Cotchery is not listed as a starter. Boykin and Bersin both had better performances in the preseason than Brown, and yet are on the practice squad. Our beat receiver is our goddamn Tight End. Funchess has never caught a pass from Cam Newton.

The Browns have miserable QBs and it would be worth trying out EVERY FREE AGENT WR to see if they possibly have chemistry with Cam.

It's like having a V8 Mustang with no tires on any of the rims.
Title: Re: MotK Fantasy Football 2015 - WE DID IT AGAIN
Post by: Edible on September 10, 2015, 11:10:09 PM
I know the Panthers are ass at wide receiver (see previous comment about drinking too much and drafting Funchess), but the Browns' top three are literally the corpse of Dwayne Bowe, Brian Hartline, and Andrew Hawkins (who admittedly I think is pretty good, but the Browns don't).  They don't even have a receiving threat like Olsen on the team.  And those are the starters.  Pryor couldn't even beat out their backups.

With that said, I your point re:

The Browns have miserable QBs and it would be worth trying out EVERY FREE AGENT WR to see if they possibly have chemistry with Cam.

is quite reasonable.

I agree that the Browns are trash at that position, but two things:
1) lol Browns
2) it would not surprise me if the Browns were hedging their bets that Josh Gordon will be back next year and will not fuck up again.
3) I have the hope that maybe I'm wrong and Gettleman actually knows what he's doing.

Dear Kilgamayan,

I am sorry for the unceremonious beating my team has delivered unto yours.  I apologize for my kicker outscoring all but one player on your team.  I truly feel bad that half your WRs are now injured, and your best scoring WR this week is on an offense that notoriously snubs wide receivers.

In an effort to extend the olive branch of friendship, I offer this token video.  May it assuage your horrible, brutal loss this week.

3) Will the Broncos win the AFC West? (y/n)

But seriously for #3, my AFC West favorites this year are the Chargers, who are also my dark horse AFC champions

Gonna answer my own poll with y, n, and n; good to know the Magic 8 Ball followed the rules. I'll take the Chiefs to win the division though, and I'll take New Orleans for the brand new unofficial official MotK Survivor Pool. Denver has some questions regarding its O-line all of a sudden, along with Peyton's arm and a lack of reliable RBs.

They've honestly had o-line issues since before Manning got there; if anything it's been worse over the years due to injuries and whatnot

Manning was just extremely good at making a bad o-line look good.

It's something I'm doing, y'all can participate if you want.

As a fan of a team with a bad O-line I want to sympathize with the Broncos, but fuck em. Getting a QB with a stitched together neck and sticking him behind that line, then ignoring it for 4 years means that they deserve whatever happens.

SURVIVOR POOL RULES:

1) Choose one winning team each week.
2) You can only choose a team once.
3) Pick must be made before the kick of your chosen game.
4) One incorrect choice and you're out.
5) Winner will be the last remaining player.
6) After the winner is decided, ALL losers must make one post complimenting the winner's preferred team.

I wouldn't trust Brandon Weeden for 1 full game, much less 8 of them. Kellen Moore getting a start would be pretty lulzy since he played at Boise and then wasn't good enough to back up Stafford(!!!) this year.

Last time Cassel had to start in this kind of situation his team finished 11-5.

Well after they're picked they're off the board, so I'd just leave them. A better option would be picking against a terrible team? We all saw what Washington did last week though.

Is it just me or have there been more injuries this early in the season? I'm probably just thinking in terms of the Cowboys with Dez, Witten and Romo all out. I do think that Weeden is a sold back up though. Completed all 7 of his passes and threw a TD against Philly. Speaking of Philly, I think not drafting or trading for linemen is starting to catch up with them. Demarco Murray rushes for 2 yards? That doesn't sound right.

Survivor pool update:
Vic, Edible, and yuyukos are all still out at 0-1 because we're terrible
PX: 2-0 (Dallas, Indianapolis)
kagiyamahina: 2-0 (Arizona, Atlanta)
Kilga: 2-0 (Minnesota, New England)

There was apparently some confusion regarding the winner's reward.  Rather than the winner being able to dictate a team for all the losers to compliment, the winner would simply receive compliments about their favorite team.  I had thought this was clear, but I was mistaken and wanted to clarify.

Additionally, the compliment must appear genuine and not backhanded.  For example: I couldn't compliment the Patriots by saying "The Patriots certainly are not a team full of cheaters coached the the biggest cheater of them all and definitely do not have more asterisks in their record books than Barry Bonds."  No venom y'all.

My team is terrible and the literal worst and I don't have Tom Brady next week and Teddy Bridgewater is actually a bust on the scale of Ryan Leaf and Jameis Winston more like Chokey McChokesalotandstealscrablegs.  Also, running backs are terrible and wide receivers are terrible and tight ends are terrible and kickers are terrible and defenses are terrible and basically football is the worst sport ever and I hate it.

i think it'll be a closer matchup than people are saying, and wow are the bengels really that high on the power rankings? well, regardless, 5 vs 12 is a bit different from 1 vs 29. my point was that i'd rather pick teams in games that look to be competitive, as opposed to picking teams that are vastly better than their opposition.

in my mind, this weeks promising matchups are steelers/ravens (which was already ongoing when i posted, so i didn't pick either), redskins/eagles (which you already picked a team from), carolina/bucs, saints/cowboys, and bengels/chiefs.

edit: also, I don't pick the packers because i'm a packers fan. i have no idea i'm why i'm restricting myself in that way, so i can't rationally explain it. Maybe it feels like a jinx?

I called into the drive time sports talk show yesterday for their listener survivor pool and took Atlanta, so that's my completely unofficial not-valid pick this week. Hopefully this is not the week that the shine comes off the Falcons.

Even though the Panthers are undefeated (and will likely stay that way this weekend) I would not consider them an elite team. Adding Jared Allen at DE and getting Kuechly back will hopefully shore up the defense even more heading into Seattle after the bye.
Title: Re: MotK Fantasy Football 2015 - ITT Vic Shouts About Football To No One

"Say Vic, your Panthers sure are doing well right now.  I do believe they're undefeated!  Holy smokes, that sure is exciting!  How does that make you feel?"

FUCKING AWFUL!!!

By the grace of Cam Newton doing his best impression of Superman over the past three weeks do we have our wins so far.  The WR situation is still depressing as hell: Funchess is practically an afterthought, while Ginn and Philly "Now Don't Call Me Corey" Brown continue to drop key balls at inopportune times; not to mention Cotchery now limited by injury, and Olsen playing quietly until week 3.  Cam has more time to throw thanks to an improved O-line that is finally providing him time to stay in the pocket, but the targets all leave something to be desired.  Brenton Bersin was called up from the practice squad and actually made a few key grabs against the Saints!  I ripped on him earlier, but after a good showing by him during the preseason game against the Patriots (while Brown couldn't catch anything) I hoped he would stick around and possibly improve.  He can hopefully fit in as a WR3/4 until Cotchery comes back.

J.Stew is hurt, fucking surprise!  Fozzy Bear Whittaker and Cameron Artis-Payne (CAP) will probably RBBC along with Tolbert if he's helathy until J.Stew comes back, but even with the improved line he hasn't been running with passion or ferocity.  Disappointing, especially for a team that now has to use Cam as the lead back on short yardage situations.  A team without reliable receiving targets should also not have concerns at RB.  Burn this team to the ground.

Defense finally gets Star Lotulelei back at DT to help stop the run, but Kuechly being out puts an awful lot of pressure on back-up AJ Klien, who needs to cover for him and also pick up after a dinged-up Thomas Davis.  Jared Allen comes in at DE after an extremely disappointing stint with the Bears.  Granted, he played in a scheme that did not fit his strength as a rusher, and the Panthers use the same scheme that brought him great success in Minnesota, but after 2 down years and his increasing age I wonder if he'll be able to return to his previous form.

Our secondary is actually playing well, and by that I mean it's not great and Roman Harper is putrid but HOLY SHIT JOSH NORMAN!!!  Pick-6 against the Jags and important picks against the Texans and Saints prove that he's not only the most important Defensive player on the team currently, but that if this keeps up he's probably leaving this offseason to go get paid by someone with the cap room.  With that said, the Defense came out against the Saints and made everyone's favorite Verizon spokesman Luke McCown look GREAT!  He was perfect 7/7 in his first series and only threw one incompletion by halftime.  He finished the game at 31/38 for 310 yards and 1 INT, and had Josh Norman not played that ball perfectly we're talking about a backup coming in and torching the Panthers in an upset win.

That first half was incredibly ugly football on both sides of that ball, because as successful as the D allowed the Saints to play as they claimed an early lead, the O was held up and made the Saints D look like they were coached by the good Ryan brother.  Cam to Olsen for that first (actually second) TD helped inspire the O, but really it was Cam putting the team on his back once again and winning through sheer brute force.

I miss Steve Smith and Cam is playing like a man possessed, currently I would only take Brady or Rodgers over Cam to run this team.  After the bye we have a difficult stretch: at Seattle, host Eagles (SNF), host Colts (MNF), and host the Packers.  Despite the slow starts by PHI and IND they could easily give the Panthers fits on national television, so let's see how the next few weeks play out.  Keep pounding!

Survivor pool update:
Vic, Edible, and yuyukos are all still out at 0-1 but hey now we have better things to do than waste 3 seconds picking a single game!
PX: 3-0 (Dallas, Indianapolis, Jets)
kagiyamahina: 3-0 (Arizona, Atlanta, Cincinnati)
Kilga: 3-0 (Minnesota, New England, Washington)

Despite the fluke win, my team is still the worst that ever worsted.  Jameis Winston should not be starting under any circumstances this year because he is CLEARLY not ready.  I don't know what Lovie Smith has against Mike Glennon (who has proven himself in limited starts to be a decent and capable QB but by no means a world beater) but he has shunned him from the start; first by bringing in Josh McCown and giving him the start without question, then throwing the rookie Winston ahead of him rather than sitting Winston to ensure that he's ready.  Sure Winston had a decent fantasy outing with 20+ points for me, but he threw 4 picks and I think lost a fumble?  He's awful and might be better in the future but he should be benched for now.  At least I only have to use him for another week.

Meanwhile I still have Teddy Bridgewater as my QB2 and he's awful for fantasy.  Do the Vikings even have any receivers on the roster or does everything just go through ADP?  Serious question btw, because Bridgewater is basically just a facilitator at this point.

Dear Chris Ivory, I'm very sorry for all the mean and hurtful things I wrote about you last week.  Please continue to clown opposing defenses for the rest of the season.  Kissies, Vic.

Per Yahoo recap bot: "Misaki Nekoarcs had their largest margin of victory so far this year at 8.64 points."  THAT'S THE TEAM I KNOW AND LOVE

Boy howdy I sure am glad I spent my first four picks on elite wide receivers, let's see how they're doing:
Antonio Brown: Was playing well under Big Ben, but now with Vick under center I doubt he'll be nearly as productive.
TY Hilton: meh
Odell Beckham Jr: This is twice that he's been a complete non-factor in the passing game.  Does Eli just not trust himself to get OBJ the ball?  Does he not trust OBJ to make a stunning catch regardless of coverage?  Know who had more fantasy points than OBJ this weekend?  Brenton Bersin!  The practice squad call-up WR5 afterthought-on-any-other-team from the Panthers.
MIKE EVANS: YOU FUCK!!!!!!

Lance Dunbar is out for the season with a torn ACL.  Regardless of fantasy implications, are the Cowboys cursed this year?  It's completely ridiculous how much is going wrong for them wrt player injuries.  If Jason Witten weren't made of titanium I would expect him to be out before long.

Who is the best RB for the Bengals: Jeremy Hill or Gio Bernard? Yes.

The Panthers are 4-0 heading into the bye week.  Why do they have bye weeks this early?  Bye weeks should be more towards the middle of the season, like weeks 7-11 because is a bye week really necessary in week 4?  Panthers should come out of this bye with a replenished roster, adding back Kuechly and Cotchery and ready to face Seattle at Century Link.  With the way that they have been playing, this second quarter of the Panthers schedule that was once seen as vicious has been mostly de-fanged.  Seattle looks troubled but is putting things back together, the Eagles are a dumpster fire, and the Colts are playing poorly and may not have a coach for much longer.  However, the Packers are still playing extremely well and even though we play host to them it'll likely be a tough loss.  Josh Norman is playing out of his fucking mind and is for all intents and purposes the best corner in the league, and I am highly interested to see if he continues to play at this level moving forward.  If so, then for the love of God pay this man some money!

Since the Panthers will not be on TV this weekend, I wonder what game they will show in its place?  I imagine that it will be the Falcons-Washington game.  The Falcons look great as well btw: Jones can catch and Freeman can pound the rock.  If the Panthers haven't played anyone, then the Falcons have had some extremely lucky breaks (and haven't played anyone) but I believe both teams will continue to play well this year and their two games in December should be very exciting!

The Jaguars are a horrible mess but at least I can take solace in the fact that for a second year running, we're not the worst team in Florida.

Fantasy-wise, I continue to roll out them wins (about as well as my actual team does not roll out them wins).  Next week I get to play Vic's team, half of which is on a bye.  I'm short a starter or two as well but I'm feeling confident.

Atlanta-Washington does seem to be the obvious choice for Fox; CBS is likely going to have St. Louis/Green Bay because it's going to be the default "everyone wants to watch it" game.  Coverage maps come out tomorrow, so we'll know then.

St. Louis/Green Bay will be on FOX because it's an all-NFC matchup.

EDIT: Well, whaddaya know, CBS got it anyway. I guess the NFL took pity on the network because the only games they qualified for normally were BUF/TEN, CLE/BAL, and JAX/TAM, all of which will be hilariously bad. At least FOX will have SEA/CIN going nationally.

Well I'm 3-1 so far. I won't have to run off the 5-6 straight wins like last year to make the playoffs hopefully.  Also the damn Razorbacks finally won, beat Tennessee.

I'd be happy if Dallas wins 1 of the next 3 games, likely the NY game.

QB bye week! Has anyone really been far even as decided to use Cutler to want to score more like?  :(  My thinking is he just had a pretty good game and they're playing KC who have terrible pass defense. I don't know Cutler could be could be feast snack or famine. I'd be very happy with 20 points.

Oh by the way, team name Casual Touhou Fan, update your roster you have bye players starting. We're playing this week.

I'd like to point out that the person who objected to picking easy teams has done nothing but  ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

I thought about looking up the pre-game betting lines on all of our choices, but then i remembered that i'm lazy and that i don't like arguing with people i've never met on the internet. so whatever.

and then i changed my mind, because i might as well be fair about this and check. plus, i'm curious now. i'll edit once i check everyones cumulative line.

EDIT:
alrighty! lets look at the closing lines from our picks

px             +6.5, -3.5, -2.5               CUMULATIVE:   +.5
kagiyamahina   -2,    PK,  -3.5       CUMULATIVE:    -5.5
kilga          -2.5, -14,  +3                 CUMULATIVE:     -13.5

source: http://www.footballlocks.com/nfl_lines_week_2.shtml (you can scroll down to get links to the other weeks)

so, px has made the riskiest picks overall from our small sample size, and kilga has the least, although thats skewed by how massively favored the patriots were that week. other than that one outlier, we've generally picked pretty evenly matched games. px has chosen the biggest underdog, i've chosen narrow favorites (except for one evenly matched game), and kilga doesn't really have a trend, having chosen differently in each of his 3 games.

all in all pretty inconclusive, really. after only 3 games each, theres not much to point at.

Atlanta-Washington does seem to be the obvious choice for Fox; CBS is likely going to have St. Louis/Green Bay because it's going to be the default "everyone wants to watch it" game.  Coverage maps come out tomorrow, so we'll know then.

We might win one more game all season and it's the Syracuse game. Doeren is 3-15 so far in ACC games and Matt Canada's offense is failing to produce any reliable numbers in running or passing when facing non-FCS competition. The defense is mind blowing in that they gave up 325+ yards to VT, who couldn't get more than 100 total yards against Pitt. Doeren has had Brissett as his QB in his system for 3 years now and sometimes he just looks completely lost. It's an utter disaster mess.

Does anyone actually read these big effort posts?  I'm going to keep posting them regardless, but just wanted to ask.

we'll see what the record is at the end of the season. i don't think we'll do brilliantly, but only win one more game?
Unless NC State is actually The Hulk at night but Bruce Banner in the rain, they're really cruising for some pain coming up.  Next week is the bye, and boy howdy do they need it to hopefully try and pull themselves together and try to get something going on either side of the ball.

Coming off the bye is the Wake Forest game in Winston-Salem, and you know as well as I do that State (for some crazy reason) just cannot play well in WS, and that Wake seems to pull everything together and channel old Jim Grobe teams and beat us.  With that said, Wake just won against BC so they aren't exactly desperate for a win and maybe we can use that do our advantage.  Additionally, I heard an interesting stat on the radio: under second year coach Clawson, Wake is 0-8 in ACC games when scoring a TD but 2-1 in ACC games when not scoring a TD (including this past weekend 3-0 win over BC) so maybe let them score on the first drive and then turn on the jets!

Fun fact: the ACC coaches in NC are collectively known as "Three Daves and a Hat".  They are Clawson of Wake, Doeren of State, Cutcliffe of Duke, and Larry Fedora of UNC.

Next is hosting Clemson on Halloween, and even though Carter-Finley stadium is magic at night and can cause some crazy upsets, this is not the year.  When was the last time we even beat Clemson?  God I hate Clemson!

At Boston College the week after, with one of the best defenses in the country.  Even though BC is unrelentingly awful on offense, that defense is still extremely stingy and if State goes up to Chestnut Hill riding a 0-4 ACC streak and just having been blown out at home by Clemson there will be no way in HELL they get a win this week.

At Florida State: No way.  If Dalvin Cook is still healthy he'll be like a sieve through our D-line.  State hasn't won in Tallahassee since 2005 and won't start this year, especially if FSU already has a loss by then.

Hosting Syracuse: Cuse is bad and we should win this game easily.

Hosting UNC: Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu- *passes out*

Even if State manages to squeeze out an additional win (probably BC but maybe Wake) they'll hit 6-6 and have a date in Shreveport with the afterthought Independence Bowl to get shellacked by Mississippi State, and Doeren will be 5-19 in ACC play after 3 years.  Just smdh bro, not worth it.  Brissett still looks scared and holds on to the ball for way too long, and even though he can run it's worthless to have his running ability stashed away because his passing skills aren't a big enough threat to try and defend against both.  Matt Canada has refused in the past two games (which were both in the rain with our team averaging 5+ yards per carry) to call for runs on first down.  Oh look, an incomplete pass, now they'll pass AGAIN on second and third and now they're punting it away.  GO TEAM!!!

Survivor pool update:
Vic, Edible, and yuyukos are all still out at 0-1 and I utilized my additional time well this past weekend by taking an extra close glance and ensuring the neck line of my beard was just perfect and hope you spent your additional seconds equally well.
kagiyamahina: 4-0 (Arizona, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Yinzers)
Kilga: 4-0 (Minnesota, New England, Washington, Tampa Bay [why])
PX: 3-1 (Dallas, Indianapolis, Jets, Jacksonville [also why]) OUT!
With that said, I actually had the Jags pegged to win that game as well.  Given the horrendous state of football in Miami (and the likeliness of that continuing after they hired Generic Tough High School Football Macho Bullshit Guy) and the complete lack of improvement in Tampa Bay after adding shellfish enthusiast Winston under center, Jacksonville in all their "hurf durf worst team not named the Browns" ineptness had a fantastic opportunity to become the undisputed King Of Florida, which is a title that no one should really want.  I have to wonder what the issues with the Jags (and the Browns to a lesser extent) are, because year after year and pick after pick and coach after coach they remain a model of staggering mediocrity at best.  Bortles is developing into a decent passer and Hurns is a promising receiver, but they have no other players of note currently and will likely be adding another high draft pick to start next year alongside Fowler.  Frankly I would love for the Jags to be relevant in the national scene because I'm sick of the Colts and I'm sick of the Houston Watts and seriously does anyone actually like the Titans!?!?

Speaking of knee injuries, I find myself wondering often what is causing the rise in ACL tears in the modern NFL.  With Jamaal Charles tearing his right ACL last weekend (after tearing his left in 2011) and the NFL recognizing 31 ACL tears in 2013 (while independent sources have the number pegged at higher than 60) the question must be asked: Is this only an effect of the athletes becoming much bigger and stronger than ever at the expense of their bodies not being able to keep up?  A significant number of ACL tears come from non-contact injuries, as seen in Charles and Kelvin Benjamin in this preseason, so the problem can't just be waved away as "the game is too violent these days" (though that's a discussion for another time).  Is it a side effect of the specialized and exact nutrition in which many of the players now partake?  Gone seem to be the days of guys eating and drinking whatever and then hoping to burn it all off on the field.  Can it be contributed somehow to the current move to less intense practices within the league?  Even though it's no longer the career-ending injury that it once was, and it's certainly not an epidemic like CTE and associated degenerative brain damage, I remain curious as to why this injury is on the rise.

I have both Chiefs RBs now hmu for trades, need QB or WR

Before launching into my usual Panthers-centric post, I need to make a confession.  The Atlanta Falcons are probably the best team in the NFC South.  Matt Ryan to Julio Jones is quite possibly the most unstoppable tandem in the league right now, and Freeman is pounding the rock like nobody's business.  Dan Quinn has shored up the defense apparently through sheer willpower and while they aren't world-beaters on that side of the ball they can make the big stops when needed and provide the offense their chance to come back on the field and win.  So far they've beaten the entire NFC East and the completely inept Houston J.J.s, and while they needed comeback wins against the Giants, Eagles and Washington they were able to show that they were the dominant team.  Their only decisive wins so far came against Brandon Weeden and Ryan Mallet, and yet no one seems to be regarding the their schedule as soft.  Meanwhile the Panthers schedule against Luke McCown (who almost won that game), Jameis Winston, Bortles, and that same Houston team is seen as soft.  Rather than split hairs I will declare that both these schedules are "good" and both teams are "great".  The Falcons will carry their momentum into tonight's game with the Saints and on against the Titans and Tampa, and their schedule is easier than the Panthers moving forward because they do not play the Seahawks or the Packers, so there is a remarkable chance that their upcoming series against each other could be to decide NFC South champ vs Wild Card team.  I hate the Falcons so much but damn do I respect them this year.

MY F-ING FANTASY TEAM RGHGHGHRHGRHGRHGHRGHRHGHRGGHH!!!!!111111111111111  Tom Brady is the only decent player on this team and if it weren't for him I would have started fielding Tim Tebow in an attempt to win the number 1 pick next year!  Bridgewater is now my only other QB after I jettisoned Winston and he's coming off a bye so I just PRAY THAT HE REMEMBERED HOW TO NOT SUCK AT FOOTBALL!!!  Antonio Brown may as well be a ghost because Michael Vick sure as shit isn't trying to establish him as the center of the offense LIKE HE FUCKING SHOULD BE!!!  "Oh Vic but what about Le'Veo-" HE'S NOT ON MY TEAM SO I HATE HIM! BRING BACK DEANGELO WILLIAMS HE WAS PRODUCING MORE! NO SHUT UP ABOUT YOUR STATS AND NUMBERS!!!  OBJ has apparently decided to no longer make amazing catches and has thus exposed himself as WORTHLESS AND TERRIBLE!!!  T.Y. Hilton more like T.Y. Do The Colts Think You're A Good Receiver When The Only Good Player On Their Entire Roster Is The Actual Sasquatch Disguised As A Man.  MIKE EVANS YOU FUCK I HATE YOU SO MUCH AND I HOPE THE BUCS LOSE EVERY GAME AND YOU RUINED MY TEAM!  HOW DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL!?!?!  Gio Bernard continues to show that he's a better player than Hill but the Bungles clearly know better and take great pleasure in my suffering every week as they continue to refuse to give Gio the rock on every down.  Chris Ivory is coming off a bye and better perform against Washington because if he can't clown them like he did Miami then holy shit just fucking retire in the post-game interview.  Jason Witten is on bye and I wound up having to grab Jordan Cameron again who is trying to catch passes from a QB who gets clowned by his practice squad, TANNEHILL YOU BETTER NOT SCREW ME THIS WEEK!!!  Willie Snead and Travis Benjamin better turn out as the WR1 that they both secretly are and only I know that which is why they're stashed on my team ahahahahahahahahahaha.  Knile Davis and Charcandrick West: Y'all better figure out this weekend which on y'all is the RB1 because I don't need any RBBC production split between a starter and my bench OR ELSE!!!!!!!!

So after losing by .44 of a point last week, I barely scrape out a win this week by .44 of a point. I notice weird things like that.

However Darren Sproles still has to play on Monday night. Unless there is a stat change, I might as well replace him with someone on a bye and guarantee a win. I could see him getting 1 carry, fumbling, then not playing the rest of the game. It would be a funny way to lose though.

Survivor pool update:
Vic, Edible, yuyukos, and PX were all out heading into the final week, leaving kagiyamahina and Kilga to take matters into their own hands and split a game to decide a winner.
kagiyamahina: 4-1 (Arizona, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Yinzers, Tampa Bay)
Kilga: 5-0 (Minnesota, New England, Washington, Tampa Bay, Miami) WINNER!

Since Kilga finally won something this year, the rest of us now have to say something nice about the Patriots.  I guess I'll start:
I admire the New England Patriots for their ability to force great production out of players that the rest of the league has ignored.
...but I wonder how they manage that, could it be CHE-*shot*

I didn't get a chance to write about the Panthers this past weekend, but my write-up would have boiled down to this: The Seahawks have a defense and a run game that have both underperformed this year but their secondary will still cause issues for the Panthers passing game.  Vegas likes the Seahawks by 7 but that's ridiculous; take the Panthers and the points becuase this'll be a 3 point win likely to Seattle.  THEN THE PANTHERS BEAT THEM ON A HORRIBLE BLOWN SECONDARY COVERAGE TD PASS TO GREG OLSEN!!!  THEY COULDN'T EVEN GUARD THE ONE RELIABLE TARGET THE PANTHERS HAVE!!!  With that they head into a Sunday night matchup against the suddenly impressive Eagles on a "short week" but I still like the Panthers in this game and next week on MNF against the Colts.  Then the Packers come to town and welp.

I heard this happen on the radio and had no idea what had actually transpired. Now that I've seen it a number of times, I still have no idea what's going on.
The greatest play ever in the NFL.  Greatest fake punt in college is probably this Arkansas State Fake Punt (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeOvUhaLnp8) against Miami from a few years back

Looking for TE, have position players in various states of disrepair. :V
I'll give you Jordan Cameron, make me an offer, I'll take just about anything.

I think Bill Belichick is the greatest NFL coach to date.  Even in what are likely his twilight years as a coach he continues to endlessly innovate on both sides of the ball and succeed in essentially every manner it is possible for a team to succeed.

well, patriots good things time.

Considering the draft structure and salary cap in football, teams usually only have a small window in which they can be championship caliber teams. The fact that the patriots have been considered a great team for 15 years now is a testament to how good their personnel management has been. Also, brady to Gronk is the best QB to Reciever connection in the league.

I actually like the Patriots. Belichick is almost definitely the greatest NFL coach of all time, just look at all the quarterbacks that left New England. Him + Brady is the best Coach + QB combination, and the fact that Belichick adjusts his play to the talents of his players makes him better then every coach ever automatically. Ballghazi was a giant fucking waste of everything, fuck you Colts.

We could always start another pool, since it's not like any of us have any money riding on it.  Speaking of survivor pools, I'm still alive in the local radio one: everyone else is out so they split the listener team I was on into individual members and now we're all facing each other.  We had 5 last week and 4 of us are left, I took the Jets last week and took a big roll of the dice this week on the Chargers.  Oh god please don't screw this up Rivers.

Lucky you said something nice about them already.  While I feel some sympathy for Geno Smith and his struggles in the NFL (for reasons I cannot comprehend) I still see Mark Sanchez as kind of a joke and a goof, but that might be tied to my hatred of USC and the constant unwarranted tipsucking they receive from the football media every year and have demonstrated for nearly 10 years that they're not deserving of high or really any praise ahead of their inevitable Pac-12 play collapse.  I hope Notre Dame continues to wipe the floor with them every year forever and ever amen.

Greatest roster ever or what. My only non bye receiver is Nelson Alghamalorpukeshit my kicker is a packer and the D is Panthers
A bird team would have actually worked out here for once.

All he does is win, check that bling.

Hell, he wins at life, look at his wife, she's a goddamn supermodel. Beautiful.

The league can't even keep him down, they try and bring controversy and he dodges that shit like two slow pass rushers and then starts off the season undefeated to give a big ole F U to the league.

In fact, he's so good, he's taken some advice from his wife and learned to throw it to himself. A true master of his craft.

Now this man is coached by a genius in his own right, not that Eric kid,
(http://i.imgur.com/0pWui4z.jpg)

No, his name is Bill "We had six eligible receivers on the field, but only five were eligible" Belichick. A maestro of the rules of math and football.

Also, this guy.

I'd say Utah is the bigger upset, even if the stats say that USC had every advantage going into the game as a 6.5 point favorite.  Stats don't take into account things like chaos at head coach, but sometimes that can be overcome.  By the way, the last two USC interim coaches have more wins over top 5 programs than the last 2 regular head coaches.  Sounds to me like the AD needs to do his damn job (not better, but period).

The FSU game was an inevitability just waiting to happen.  FSU was decimating opponents during their 2013 national title season, but this year and even last year they've been winning very close games against inferior opponents and have no really impressive wins to hold up and prove any kind of domination.  On the other side of the field, Georgia Tech has gotten so many bad breaks this season that people may have forgotten that they were an elite team last year and returned many of those starters, but ended up on the wrong side of most of their recent games unlike FSU.  GT had a tremendous comeback against Notre Dame that just started too late, lost at Duke which currently has one of the best defenses in the country (at Duke!!!), had UNC buried before the Tarheels mounted a miracle comeback (the biggest in program history), was outmatched by a Clemson squad that is in all likelihood the best team in college football, and lost a close one to nationally ranked Pitt (who plays a very similar game to GT anyway).  Sure winning on the blocked punt was exciting and very cool, but GT is a good team and it took a lucky break for them to finally prove it.  They could pretty easily win their remaining games but their ACC Championship dreams have long been in tatters.

A good post
I love Gronk, he's the best.  He's like a big dumb dog that's just so happy to see you even though you only left the room for a bit.

Reminder that Brady's wife makes more money than him.
It surprises me every time I read this, but Tom Brady keeps restructuring his contract to clear up cap space and lower his yearly salary (while still somehow increasing the amount of money he makes) so I guess it makes sense.  NFL contracts are weird, and there are several baseball contracts worth more than any NFL contract (a travesty).

I'm not exactly sure what happened with my fantasy team: I had 3 RBs coming into the season and now my entire bench is just RBs and Josh McCown.  I'm starting all 6 of the WRs on my roster and I think all of them are technically the number 1 receivers on their rosters but you wouldn't be able to guess that based on their production.  Football is the worst sport ever and my team is just bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad.  I didn't even know who Willie Snead was back in week 1 and now he's the Saints best receiver ahead of Brandin Cooks?  I don't get it at all.

Cam Newton is playing at an MVP caliber right now.  J.Stew had 2 rushing TDs against Seattle last week which were the first offensive TDs of the year for the Panthers that weren't attributed to Cam Newton in some way.  He's essentially dragging the entire team behind him, playing incredibly well behind a patchwork O-line that is blocking decently enough, and better than some teams (Seahawks lol, Colts lmao) but Cam is still having to avoid some hits on his feet either scrambling behind the line or gaining yardage.  He's making the most out of a receiving corps that would struggle to instill fear in the CFL, much less the NFL, and getting some great performances out of Jerricho Cotchery and Ted Ginn in particular.  Funchess hasn't been playing at a great level, but then again neither have any of the other rookie wideouts not named Amari Cooper (and he's sometimes outplayed by the ancient Michael Crabtree).  That said, he's catching some essential balls and working with Philly Brown to move the ball and also to draw some coverage off of Greg Olsen.  Unlike some TEs that are nothing more than underpaid WRs (Jimmy Graham) Olsen is actually doing a lot of blocking this year in addition to his catching, so he deserves every ounce of praise he's getting this season.  Bringing us into the game tonight, the Eagles have an astonishingly bad red zone offense under Bradford and the Panthers D will get another chance to shine.  Kuechly is going to be playing unrestricted and Jared Allen will be back at DE with a chance to prove that he's still the player he was in KC and Minnesota.  Shaq Thompson is out with an MCL sprain but AJ Klein, who had filled in very well for Kuechly earlier, will be taking his place.  Expect Josh Norman to close off half the field for receivers.  With all that said, the Panthers are not the most reliable team in prime time so I'm a little worried heading into the game tonight, but if they can get the win tonight (and the stats are on their side) then I'd expect that success to likely carry over to next week's game against the suddenly reeling Colts.

Survivor pool round 2 update:
Vic (San Diego) is 0-1 and OUT already because he hates success and winning and in general is terrible and just about everything.  He also doubted that his team could actually perform in the clutch and win a primetime game and so instead picked a divisional game across the country.  What a dope!
Edible (Jacksonville) is 1-0 and is a dirty fucking homer and took Jacksonville on a game played in another country and they tried SO HARD to not win but couldn't pull it off and came away with a victory.
kagiyamahina (Carolina) is 1-0 you FUCK!!!!!
PX (San Diego) is 0-1 and proved why you shouldn't pick your team ever.
Kilga (Minnesota, New England, Washington, Tampa Bay, Miami, Giants) is 1-0 but actually 6-0
yuyukos (Oakland) is 1-0 and the Raiders might actually be a relevant team in a few years, wow!

If Chuck Pagano is serious about tanking the Colts as a final act of defiance (watch this team and tell me that's not his goal) before getting fired, then he can accelerate that process by laying a giant egg on Monday night against the Panthers.  Not sure what he's planning to do afterwards but hey, if it means a 7-0 vs 7-0 showdown with Panthers hosting the Packers then I'd be all for that!

A formal complaint about the league: These rosters and benches are waaaaay too big, too big to really field viable teams on a week to week basis due to injury limiting useful players and large team size eliminating almost all useful backup players from the free agent pool.  If we stick with a 2QB league next year then please remove the W/R position and shorten the bench.  Also declare me the victor in advance so I can gloat for a full season.

Regardless of whether he's trying to tank the team or not, I suspect the only big points the Colts will score on Monday are going to be the garbage time kind.

The Colts are leading the AFC South at 3-5 and have not beaten a team outside their division.  The Texans and the Jaguars both have legitimate chances of winning that division.  Y'all, as bad as the NFC South was last year (and it was bad) I don't think I'm able to verbalize just how bad the AFC South is.  On a side note, the Falcons are winless since I successfully cursed them by being nice.  SUCK IT!!!

Survivor pool round 2 update:
Vic and PX are still out because football is dumb and bad.  Though PX tried to sneak in a pick last week and I somehow missed it so I couldn't tell him that he was dumb but I can now PX YOU'RE DUMB AND ALSO OUT, STOP PICKING!
Edible (Jacksonville, Pittsburgh) is 1-1 OUT because he picked those yinzer motherfuckers.
kagiyamahina (Carolina, Giants) is 1-1 OUT after some Big 12 teams dressed up as the Giants and Saints and snuck into the Superdome for a game.
Kilga (Minnesota, New England, Washington, Tampa Bay, Miami, Giants, New Orleans) is 2-0 but actually 7-0 after an exciting arena football game
yuyukos (Oakland, Seattle you butt) is 2-0 and what happened to the Seahawks?  How does a team retain the same players and regress that badly?

Packers at Panthers is suddenly a game with 1st overall seed implications in the NFC.  In week 9.  The NFC is not very good.  Meanwhile there is a legitimate chance that a team in the AFC goes 14-2 and does not get a bye week.  #whoa #wow

kagiyamahina says he's given up on his team but he's actually not last or even second to last; he's actually ahead of someone who is supposedly trying to win every week.  RIP.  Here lies Hail Renko, they never scored

With Hasselbeck in for the next 2-6 weeks (for a lacerated kidney it's gotta be longer than that right?) I actually like the Jaguars going forward.  The Colts may have beaten the Broncos in Indy but let's all acknowledge what that game actually was: Peyton Manning formally ceding his status as Indianapolis Colts legend to Andrew Luck before the people of Indy.  The Texans are lol and the Titans are lmao and just fired their head coach.

Mid-season reflections!  I definitely didn't expect the Panthers to be 8-0 by this point.  I didn't think 4-0 was outrageous given the very soft opening we had, but I thought the only win we'd have in this second quarter was against the Eagles, so they're crushing my expectations right now.  Looking ahead to the next 4 weeks we play at the Titans, host Washington, at Dallas for Thanksgiving, and finish that stretch at New Orleans.  The Titans will not be an easy win, but I think their win over the Saints took a lot of expectations off their shoulders to not only win but also score an "upset" over a "better team".  Had they lost to the Saints I would actually be more nervous about playing them, but this is probably the most likely loss in this stretch.  Hosting Washington with inept Kirk Cousins at QB should allow the defense a chance to shine and put on a show.  Dallas on Thanksgiving looked like a very difficult game before the season: Tony Romo in a game he plays every year, Dez Bryant doing Dez Bryant things, Greg Hardy looking for "revenge" against his former team (who paid him an entire season's salary to sit on the bench so come the fuck on he should be fucking thankful if anything).  Now Romo is likely still going to be on the bench, Dez is going to be covered by Norman all day and have to fight to catch passes from.....some crappy backup, and Greg Hardy might be cut by then!  This will be a tough game, especially with the short week, but a Panthers win seems a likely outcome.  Playing New Orleans in the Superdome that next week in a game that will test this secondary (playing so far above their pay grade somehow) that could very easily be a Saints win because ~*~division game~*~ but Panthers should come away with a victory.  WITH THAT SAID: the Panthers MUST lose a game somewhere in this stretch, and preferably before the Saints game.  Why?  Take the pressure off the team a little.  Heading into the Superdome at 11-0 is just a set-up for tragedy, and if they somehow made it out to be 12-0 I would be fully expecting to see them lose out because playing with a chip on their shoulders is better for this team than lofty expectations.  They've been behind the 8 ball this entire season, and flipping the script right now would be inviting disaster.  For their sake I think they'd play better for this stretch if they lost in Nashville.  Then again, I thought they'd be not that great this year so what do I know?

I whiffed badly on the Chiefs as my choice to win the AFC West; I didn't have any faith in Manning and his arm this season and for the most part this belief has held up!  However, Denver's defense is way better than I anticipated, so they're still going to win that division.  Not only that, but the Raiders are coming along nicely and are playing very well, better than I thought they would be in year 2 of Derek Carr.  Amari Cooper looks like the real deal and Crabtree gives him a legitimate threat as a WR2.  Both the Raiders and the Jets may have been jokes last year but there's a real chance they both make the playoffs as wild cards this year.

My team has been putting it together pretty well for a few weeks and I now have a glut of running backs so I will probably lose out from this point because NEKOARCS FOOTBALL!!!

Everyone is out except yuyukos so now we all have to say something nice about the...Giants???  Help.

Tom Coughlin is easily one of the best coaches in the NFL, and I give him more credit for their two recent superbowl wins than any other member of the organization.  He regularly takes pedestrian talent and elevates them (but there's only so much he can do when you have the definition of mediocre GM managing your roster).

Eli Manning is having a pretty good year.

I liked the Jaguars to win the AFC South even before Luck went down.
We've been competitive in every game this year but one, and the rest of our schedule is against dumpster fire competition.  Gus Bradley needs to be fired though.  Dude's just not an NFL head coach.

Quote
The Titans will not be an easy win, but I think their win over the Saints took a lot of expectations off their shoulders to not only win but also score an "upset" over a "better team".  Had they lost to the Saints I would actually be more nervous about playing them, but this is probably the most likely loss in this stretch.  Hosting Washington with inept Kirk Cousins at QB should allow the defense a chance to shine and put on a show.

The Titans should not be an issue for Carolina.  They are actually really super awful - they beat the Saints because guess who else is awful.

I actually think the Redskins will give you more of a challenge than Tennessee.  Cousins isn't great but I think he's better than he's often given credit.

In all seriousness, Tom Coughlin and his squad are incredible at building a pass-rushing squad (this year's team aside), and it's amazing how he was able to play the same trick twice on Belicheck.

I definitely didn't expect the Panthers to be 8-0 by this point.

I bELIeve in the Giants to once again crush the streaking Patriots who are red hot after beating an offseason cheating accusation.  Eli may be the streakiest QB in the game but when he is on he is nearly unstoppable.  I love Eli Manning because he has more Super Bowl rings than Peyton and has a significantly less annoying face as well.  The Giants are probably the most likable team in the NFC East.

That is strange and I have never heard of it until now, but I guess that it might be related to trying to take the pressure off the team by ruining an undefeated season?  Either that or some of these fans are giving themselves losses to set themselves up for misery in case the Panthers drop 6 in a row.  Weird either way.

NC STATE LOST A GAME AND EVERYTHING IS RUINED FOREVER.

I wonder if anyone's told them that their season is over and that they should just go home.
I called up Coach Gottfried and he started crying.  Normally it wouldn't be a big deal (and State won their second game against South Alabama) but the way it happened is very concerning.  William & Mary, a team that has never once made the NCAA tournament, is a good shooting team, and they pulled out to an early 10-3 lead.  From that point on, State just kept chucking up bad shot after bad shot and were completely unable to rattle W&M on defense.  W&M finished the night with higher shooting percentages in all categories than State.  If this is how State reacts to being put in the hole by only 7 points than I'm worried how they'll fare if they're in the hole by 10 at Wake Forest or Miami.  We also lost Terry Henderson, our starting 2, to an ankle injury for at least a month.

Panthers won yay.  Washington put the hurt on the Saints and yeah this will be a tough game coming up but at least we're hosting Washington.

If we're starting round 3 then I'll hopefully buck the trend of losing immediately and take the Seahawks.

It's kinda hard for me to write any lengthy screeds about either of my teams because they're frankly both doing really well.  4 of my 6 WRs were on bye this week but I was able to snag Amendola and a fill-in while I hopefully beat up on Drunk Aya this week.  Washington will a tough test for the Panthers, but I just can't get too worked up because they're still a terrible team at the end of the day.

Finally! It's not mathematically impossible for the cowboys to win the division, 3 games back from the 1st. Probably won't happen though. Also Greg Hardy is pissing me off. I heard a call from a woman on talk radio about Hardy and the Cowboys who said it really made her not want to go to or root for the Cowboys. I kind of feel the same way, especially since his been a little shit lately.

Really need a win this week got 2 others have same record.

Romo is starting today, get yo picks in!

Washington tweeted this (https://twitter.com/Redskins/status/668219318509936640) out earlier and the Panthers response was "savage af" (https://twitter.com/Panthers/status/668230998996467714) :flame emojis:

Oklahoma barely beat TCU last night and I'm kinda upset because Oklahoma fans are really super annoying all the time, hoping for Oklahoma State to knock them off next week.  Ohio State lost and will not be playing in the B1G championship unless MSU loses next week.  After an entire season of them saying "So what if we're barely beating teams and winning in unconvincing fashion just like Florida State last year?  We're totally different from them!"  They're right, because FSU didn't lose during the regular season.  Really wish VT had knocked off UNC in Blacksburg to put a nice finish on Beamer's home career, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I may be an Arkansas Alumni but every other person in my family went to University of Texas. I didn't move to Arkansas till I was 12 so been rooting for Texas my whole life. I would love if OU's loss to Texas spoils their season. If they were undefeated, they'd almost certainly be in this year. OU sucks.

Well now I'm safely in 3rd and hopefully will make the playoffs again. I think I've been in the playoffs all 3 years, I don't remember the first but I do remember last year when I won 8 in a row to get in just to lose to Kilga.

I went to the Arkansas game against Miss St this weekend and that one was painful, didn't help that someone stole my cool wool hog hat with a pig nose on front and ears on top. It was so fucking cold and we got a game winning FG blocked and lost 51-50, but were in a bowl and after the Ole Miss and LSU wins I don't care if we win another game, that made the season for me.

Survivor Pool round 3 update:
Edible (Falcons) is 0-1 and OUT
Vic (Seahawks) is 1-0 and not out immediately holy shit!!!
kagiyamahina (Jets) is 0-1 and OUT
yuyukos (Cowboys) is 1-0, still in again!
Kilga (Bears) is 0-1 and OUT because Jay Cutler just doesn't care.
My pick for this week is the Arizona Cardinals

Panthers just beat the Cowboys and it looks like Romo might be out again with another collarbone injury.  RIP the cowboys, better luck next year.  Panthers looked great on defense with 2 pick-6s and had Dez bottled up all night.  Josh Norman is a machine.  Looking towards next week already, we play the Saints in New Orleans, which should be a win but could easily be a trap because division game and also away.  11-0 feels really good but I just don't know when this is going to fall apart.

My fantasy team is locked into the playoffs, feels good man.  I got good RBs and good WRs and unfortunately only one good QB but luckily he's the best right now.  Happy turkey and pigskin day y'all!

Post by: Rin Kagamine on December 12, 2015, 09:18:28 PM
Having a bye week this week in the PLAYOFFS just puts me on edge about losing some of my hot streak mojo before next week.  Panthers playing the Falcons at home is a likely win this week, but given the shootout down in New Orleans last week (and how they played us really close in week 3 with Luke McCown under center) means that it'll probably be a close game, because divisional matchup.  I'm still seeing a loss come in New York next week to the Giants, and still think that it would help the team get their heads straight to not have to worry about going undefeated any longer.

Have the Army-Navy game in the background today, last year Navy had some seriously lit uniforms but Navy's helmets this year are sick nasty.  Go sports!

I want to feel bad for Army since they've been pretty bad in general lately but I'm not sure what they can really do differently.  They're pretty hamstrung in recruiting due to being a service academy, but they still don't seem to be able to pull the kind of recruits that Navy and Air Force (both consistently bowl eligible teams lately) can get.  Is it just because they're still an independent?  14 straight losses to Navy is pretty bad though :<

Sorry it has nothing to do with Fantasy Football but it's too good not to talk about.

According to ESPN Las Vegas and Deadspin, not only was Johnny Manziel skipping out on concussion protocol Sunday by playing blackjack in Vegas (reportedly), he was doing so (reportedly) dress up in a blond "Ric Flair"-like wig and a fake mustache while going by the name "Billy". (http://deadspin.com/report-johnny-manziel-partied-in-vegas-with-a-fake-wig-1751058216)

I know there's currently no evidence publicly released confirming this story but I want it to be true so badly!!!

The Texans scored no points.

But if you pretend their score was Brian Hoyer's passer rating, the Chiefs still won by two TDs.

You're telling me, I was worried for a while we'd have two shutouts in one day. >.< But that still would've been more interesting (to me at least) than all the pushing and shoving going on in the night game. Can I just say that's one of the worst ways ever to lose a playoff game, especially after coming all the way back near the end? I don't know if there are any Bengals fans here, but one has to wonder if the team really is cursed at this point.

That was a pretty solid game.  Good way for the Pats to go out.

Of course, the scary thing here is that Brady is still playing at an MVP level and still probably has a number of seasons left, so they'll probably be right the fuck back here. next year.  Again.

Less than a week to go before 50, and I bring you a really cool statistic.

Since Cam's 2015 MVP nod is basically in the bag, if he also wins the superbowl (and superbowl MVP) he will be first player in history to win the Heisman, BCS Championship, NFL Rookie of the Year, NFL MVP, and Superbowl MVP.

2016 awards time.

MVP: Cam Newton

OPOTY: Cam Newton

DPOTY: JJ Watt

OROTY: Jameis Winston

DROTY: Marcus Peters

Comeback: Eric Berry

Coach: Ron Rivera

Hall of Fame, class of 2016: Brett Favre, Kevin Greene, Marvin Harrison, Orlando Pace, Tony Dungy, Ken Stabler, Dick STanfel, Eddie DeBartolo

Re: HOF, the fact that Harrison made it in and Terrell Owens did not renders the entire exercise meaningless.  I'm not a fan of TO but he was obviously on another level from Harrison.

Also, it is gameday. Panthers bitch. Keep pounding.

I cannot think of any reason why TO was passed over except that he didn't make a lot of friends.  Get over yourselves, HOF voters.

I should point out that Hines Ward is eligible next year.  I don't think he deserves to be in at all, but I suspect he'll get in anyway at some point - if he gets in first ballot over TO next year, the Hall of Fame should probably be razed <_<

Also:

OROTY: Jameis Winston

The source I was using for this list was incorrect.  The actual OROTY was Todd Gurley.

OK it's been like 12 hours so let's talk about this game. Denver's defense was outstanding and won the game single-handedly ala the 2000 Ravens. Both offenses were putrid and the Panthers couldn't establish a rhythm and spent the entire game stumbling. Media is saying that the Panthers are the beginning of a dynasty but that's just wrong. Jared Allen, Charles Johnson and Peanut Tillman are all probably gone before next year, and Thomas Davis may not have another year in him. Mike Remmer holy shit you fuck. Panthers need need NEED help in the secondary (because Harper is too old now) and O-line in the draft, and also DE because we're probably losing our two starters.

That was a fucking catch, holy shit I hate the NFL.

Gonna address the elephant in the room here.  Caveat: I think the Broncos were the better team on the field yesterday, and very likely would have won regardless.

The Panthers got bum-fucked by poor refereeing last night.  The awful failed challenge on the (very obviously) completed pass, the lack of roughing the passer on the strip-sack TD, the clear offsides on Talib during the missed field goal, and at least three uncalled DPI, one of which was incredibly blatant and critical.

Overturning the incomplete pass ruling as they should have done would have given Rivera an extra challenge, and the Panthers an extra timeout.  It also meant the strip-sack TD never would have happened (ditto for the missed roughing the passer call).  Correctly calling offsides on Talib gives you a fresh set of downs in the redzone instead of a missed field goal.

Part of the reason Denver was so successful last night was because they got away with much more than they should have.  Now, there's no cure for Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware completely ignoring the Carolina o-line last night, which is one of the biggest reasons the Panthers lost, but the game would (and should) have been a hell of a lot closer and a lot more fun to watch.
