Title: Touhou Suzunaan Vol. 6 to Have Special Edition with ZUN's Music CD Bundle
Post by: cuc on April 21, 2016, 01:35:55 PM: An anonymous Japanese BBS leaker has posted an image of an ad print, revealing the special edition of "Touhou Suzunaan ~ Forbidden Scrollery." Vol. 6, bundled with "an image music CD from ZUN" and a 32-page mini-artbook (same size as the manga). The special edition sells for JPY 1800 (plus tax), and will be released on Dec 10.

The ad claims the pre-order for the special edition ends on Sep 30, but judging from the manga's previous special edition for Vol. 3, this supposedly "limited production" will be available everywhere in Japan upon release anyway.

Both Suzunaan Vol. 5 and this month's Comp Ace magazine have a street date of April 26. As the former has already been shipped to the bookstores, the leaker must have obtained them by working in related businesses.

Post by: cuc on April 21, 2016, 01:53:19 PM: "Image song", if you are not familiar, is a Japanese transmedia concept for music that conveys the idea of an anime character, etc.; unlike character themes, they are typically not featured in the actual show. So that just means the disc will have new songs written for the manga, same as all previous CDs bundled with Touhou books.

I want to say there's still a chance the normal edition will also contain the CD, and it's only the artbook that's special edition-exclusive, but it's more likely we really need to pay an extra 1000 yen for the CD and an artbook not even big enough for Moe Harukawa's larger artworks. The reign of Kadokawa has begun.

Post by: Maple on April 21, 2016, 04:45:22 PM: About "Image song", it's meant to be an approximation of the character, can we make the assumption that it will have vocal lyrics (due to the status of "Image song") or that it will be fully instrumental (as the rest of the Touhou songs)? Disregard that, i didn't read the part of "same as all previous CDs bundled with Touhou books"

It's not a panel from a chapter, it's from the bonus art section at the end of the volume where Harukawa shows off some of the character design sketches she's done (different costumes, expressions, etc). Compare this (http://bato.to/reader#659345abcffaa7b4_16) page from volume 1 or this (http://bato.to/reader#2597eca69c8bc434_4) page from volume 2. Momiji and Hatate are just bonuses on Aya's page, like the three fairies are on Reimu's page or Shinmyoumaru's house is on her page.

The bonuses for volumes 3 and 4 have never been scanned (in English), but Kanako and Suwako also appear on Sanae's art page.

Luno, organizer of Touhou Nico Dousai also said (http://fusetter.com/tw/ZM9Le) it doesn't sound like a character theme. The book offers no additional commentary on the CD.
