As far as I know there's already an english patch for TH6 and the others. Consult that instead.

Somehow I don't think he/she was trying to translate it to english.
Anyway, there's stuff here: http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Game_Tools_and_Modifications
In the general utilities section.

Okay first, make sure you've downloaded the right thing.
Download and unzip this to whatever folder you want.

Now, I'm on a vista, so it may look slightly different on your machine but...
Here is the command prompt.

Run it. You should get something that looks like this
(http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/5780/step4y.jpg)

Go to the folder where you unzipped thtk.
Right-click on any of the files and click properties.

I've highlighted the bit you want. This is the file location, or path.

Then go into the command prompt, type cd (It stands for change directory), copy the path and hit enter. This should bring you to the correct directory.

From here, you can simply type the name of the program you want to run, and the output will appear onscreen.
There are html files telling you how to run each of the programs.
For simplicity's sake, I'd advise that you move the file(s) you're working with into the same directory as the program. Otherwise you will have to use the full path.

I have downloaded Touhou 6

Just wanted to remind you of our piracy policy (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/topic,8185.0.html) - and yes, that includes the games - located on our Rules board (http://www.shrinemaiden.org/forum/index.php/board,20.0.html).

Also, rather than double-post, just edit your previous one - it will be seen as "unread" on people's Unread page if you edit it.

Thanks and good luck!

thtk should display its commands if you just type the name of one of the included programs at the command prompt. What is it you are trying to do, specifically, and how is it not working? I gather you're trying to extract msg files from the th06e.dat file with thdat? Or are you trying to use thmsg on files you've already extracted?

Note that thmsg does not give you script commands. You will have to figure them out yourself. For instance...

Code: [Select]
10,1
 28,336.0f,272.0f
 17,So?
17,What exactly were you talking about?

It's obvious that any line starting with "17," is a message, but the rest may take a bit of guesswork...

Good luck!

Can you tell me which step is giving you difficulty? I'll see if I can help out.

There are other tools but easy?

BrightMoon, if you can find it, can extract stuff from the .dat file too and has a simple user interface. However AFAIK thmsg is the only way you'll get your msg files decrypted.

Post by: EthanSilver on August 12, 2012, 12:48:56 PM
When I write in cmd the comand thdat x13 th13e.dat it doesnt recognize...
This is either because...
a) You did not copy the .exes included with thtk into your TD folder.
or
b) You did not open the command window in the right place.

Like this...

Make sure your TD folder contains thdat.exe. Cmd is telling you that, in the folder you're calling it right now, there is no such thing as "thdat.exe".

Oh okay, so, I have BrithMoon now, I need to open thmsg.exe and then type what comand...?

Once you have extracted the .msg files, do the same as for thdat but using the command at step 4. This will produce a text file containing the script.

Unless your TD actually is installed directly in "c:\users\r", something tells me you're not following my instructions properly. Accessing cmd by right-clicking on a folder and selecting "open command window here" will place you in that folder. Accessing cmd by typing it from the start menu, on the other hand, will put you in your "users" folder (like in the image you posted).

I can't help you if you're skipping or altering steps. Please follow the instructions as I have provided them.
(Aside from that, the command you typed, itself, is correct. You must open cmd properly first and everything should work if you've followed the exact steps I've listed.)

Now, to transform the file from .msg to .txt what I need to do?
Assuming the .msg files you want to use are in the same folder as your thmsg.exe, you can do pretty much the same thing as with thdat.exe.

- Open a cmd by right-clicking on the folder (if you don't already have one opened).
- Type the following and hit enter.
thmsg d13 st01a.msg > st01a.txt
- The "st01a.msg" file has now been extracted into "st01a.txt".

The ">" in the command means "ohai computer plz redirect output to file ok?" instead of it dumping everything into your cmd window. You'll have to do this for each file you want to convert - this will just convert "st01a.msg". So "thmsg d13 st02a.msg > st02a.txt", so on...

Mmmh, I did to insert the .txt in the .msg and then in the th13e.dat, but now Ten Desires doesnt work, when I try to open it say that there is an error.
The dialog file are corret, what the problem?
If need it I post the dialog file translated so you can give to me an help to find the problem, thanks.

Ten Desires doesnt work, when I try to open it say that there is an error.
Can you post the error? It's pretty much impossible to tell which part may've gone wrong without being able to see the error message.

The dialog file are corret, what the problem?
Are you absolutely sure about that? The format is pretty strict. Are you sure you're not using a reserved character in your translation, haven't accidentally changed a number somewhere, or didn't add/remove lines improperly?

I can think of 3 possible errors.
- The .dat was incorrectly reassembled.
- The .msg was incorrectly reconverted from the .txt.
- The contents of the .txt used to produce the .msg were incorrect in some way.

With the error message, it should be possible to tell which case we're dealing with here.

It seems neither your .msg nor your .dat were correct.

The comand that I have used are
thmsg c13 st01a.txt > st01a.msg
Then
thdat c13 th13e.dat > st01a.msg
Don't put a > to rebuild the files. What the above is saying is, "do 'thmsg c13 st01a.txt' (which will give an error since it's missing a file), then put whatever that says in st01a.msg" Instead, do this:

thmsg c13 st01a.txt st01a.msg

As for thdat, you will have to include the filename of every file that you've extracted from the .dat and not just the one files you've modified. Taking out the > from your command, you'd be telling thdat to make a .dat file with just one file contained within it: st01a.msg. Instead do this:

thdat c13 th13e.dat "file1.ext" "file2.ext" "file3.ext" "so on..."

It may take a little while to type up everything so you should keep the command in a file to copy-paste for future modifications. Alternatively, you could write yourself a batch file, though if you don't know what that is don't worry about it. Copy-pasting it will come out the same, pretty much. :P

All file must have the " "?
Not really, but if there's a space in a path it will need the " ". To be on the safe side you may as well put them around every file. :)

Title: Re: Help to make translation

I'm glad to help, but I won't do your work for you.

You can obtain a listing of all files using cmd.exe. Right-click on the folder that contains all of your files and open a command window there. Type the following:

dir /B/S > files.txt

This will create a file, "files.txt", which contains every file contained in the folder and its subfolders. (It also contains the name of the folders themselves, so keep an eye out for that; you don't need to include those in thdat, just the files). With a text editor and a few find-and-replace commands you should be able to make yourself a nice list of all files, ready to be copy-pasted into cmd.exe for use with thdat.

Make sure you hang onto that file so you don't have to rebuild it each time you want to test something. The files being included in the .dat never change so you only need to build this list once.

When I e-mailed the creator, he did not give a coherent reply regarding the repacking of .anm files. I recommend reading and experimenting (with a separate copy of course).
