Title: Shoot the Bullet question
Post by: Arcengal on April 27, 2009, 07:18:48 PM
According to the Touhou wiki, Aya is supposed to show different expressions based on your score for any particular card.

Does anyone know what sort of order these are in? It should be obvious, but my copy has her all over the place. Smug, shocked, smiling, woozy, angry...

From what I know, Aya's expression is set for each card. It reflects what she thinks of the pattern. It's got nothing to do with score.

I agree with Kefit. I believe it has little to do with score at all.
Someone probably got a really big number on one of her "smug" or "shocked" expressions and thought it was relevant.
When I started to do scoring runs, no matter how high I got the score, her expression would never alter or improve.

I will have to disagree.  It appears that score has something to do with it.

I just checked mine, I had pink text in every scene and I had only few scenes where she wasn't happy 6-1 & 6-2 and 5-1 I think.

Oh wait, now I remember. There is a score threshold for each card. If you are below this threshold you get Aya's pouty face and blue text. Get above and you get her real expression for the card (which is sometimes the pouty face) and pink text.

Typically the score threshold is low enough that if you know how to deal with a given card, you won't see the blue text (even if you take a few low-scoring pictures).  I think in my recent sweep the only time I got the blue text was on my first capture of 7-2.

So IMO if you see the blue text, you should probably consider replaying the scene even though you've already passed it.
