I'm probably not as hyped as everyone since that will be the fourth time I see this story, but it's ufotable and Episode 0 was definitely convincing.

I liked the premiere a little more than the Fate/Zero premiere, but it was still kind of boring and unnecessary. Graceless exposition is replaced with... Something, I'm not even sure what part of that episode took up the 40 minutes, but I didn't really feel like I watched two episodes' worth of content. Will keep watching, do not expect to love.
Maybe I missed something, or maybe this will be explained later, but did they change the rules of how the game works? Why do the masters get random servants now? I thought they had to find an artifact that belonged to their servant in order to summon them. How does that even work?

If a catalyst isn't present, the Grail chooses the Heroic Spirit based on the Master's nature. As for which Spirit is summoned, I think it tries to get a good affinity, but if the catalyst is really powerful, it forces the summoning of the corresponding Spirit.
I don't think it's explicitely said later in this route, but it will definitely make sense once you see it.

Oh, they actually referred to that in the episode - Rin said she'll basically brute-force it to make up for the fact she doesn't have an artifact.
I'll be sad if the rest of the adaptation (everything that isn't "episode 0") will stick to Shirou-vision. I liked the POV switches in F/Z.

There's plenty of perspective switches in Fate/Stay Night; they were referred to in-game as "intermissions," and while there was a difference in prose style compared to the main story (intermissions described things in third person, while normal sections were Shirou's first person thoughts), it's not something to be translated to to an anime adaptation.
Personally, I'm wondering, if this is meant to be a sequel to Fate/Zero, how people will react to characters like Ilya, Kotomine, Sakura and Zouken getting the shaft in this route
, or if that will be addressed in the adaptation.

enjoyed it but tbh they barely explained anything, I don't even think it explained what they were fighting for. If you were a complete newbie you would probably be confused. I also have this feeling that the pacing will be very fast anyone else feel this? Interested to see how this plays out though since I hear UBW was the best route of f/sn

the pendant Rin used to boost her mana actually ended up being the catalyst to summon Archer.

I thought the pendant was thought as an artifact of Arthuria. But PX says it was a mana booster so maybe I got confused. I'm not a Fate/Stay Expert.
Except it was MORE aligned and important to Emiya; by Rin's own doing. [Not to mention Rin and Shiro's affinity]

The pendant is simply worth a shit ton of magical energy. That's about it. Rin doesn't use it to summon Archer- Plaintext the game even says it won't help her summon her servant.
She plain bruteforces it.
If she did try and use it, she wouldn't be able to save Shirou anyway- She uses the energy in it to save his life after all.

Episode 1 was an hour long and looked decent. It's a good thing it was an hour as it sped up the story's pace so the fans won't feel like they have to sit through as much of the shared introductory story for Episode 2.

Only gripes for ep1 were the lack of Shirou monologues, excess of Saber in the OP, and the ED sounding almost exactly like Heavenly Blue.

That third episode is like the strongest thing ever in the history of history. Holy shit. Wow. It was totally worth everything I'd ever done before in my life.
Now with less overblown facerolling: The animation was really, really good.

pretty excited to continue the anime of unlimited blade works since I have only watched the first episode now that I just finished the "last episode" in f/sn(VN) a few minutes ago.
slightly wish it was heavens feel that was getting animated. my favourite route and that normal ending (yes I know heavens feel is getting a movie but still)
